  1. The Duggars live in Arkansas. Why are they in Virginia campaigning? Doesn't Michelle, as a teacher to how many children, need to be at home teaching her own children? Doesn't Jim Bob need to be at work or something?

  2. To Anonymous above: The Duggars have income from many sources so have the freedom to travel. Because their children are homeschooled, travelling and taking part in politics and the election process is part of the education chosen for their family. It is also a neat way to volunteer plus they support Josh and his new employment endeavours. I don't agree with all of their values but I do support them and see them as positive role models.

  4. Exactly. Over the past month and a half; they have been away more than home. This is a time of year when homeschooling really heats up! I guess for those who are serious about educating their children!

  5. What better civics lesson could the children receive?? And I'm sure they can school on the bus,. Not to mention that a huge advantage in homeschooling is that you can school year round and take off the days you wish. And in general, doing lessons at home does not take as much time as public school, b/c there is not as much busywork, lining up, going places, etc etc.

Jim Bob owns real estate and sells real estate. I'm sure he can manage to be out of town if he needs to be.

  6. Jim Bob and Michelle consider homeschooling to be optimal for their children for many reasons, including the fact that it allows them to schedule "field trips" whenever a worthy opportunity presents itself. Jim Bob has always advocated involvement in politics as a worthwhile endeavor, having served himself in the Arkansas House, and there is no better way to teach their children about this country's political process than to involve them directly in it. So this is, to the Duggar family, an excellent learning opportunity. I do agree with this viewpoint and would like to
offer my own child similar experiences.

  7. I also find it odd that they are in Virginia asking for votes for a candidate. It is not a national election. Josh was suppose to be involved in this candidate's campaign which is fine because that is his job with FRC. Why does he need his family to pack up and help him. I would love to see him doing his job out on his own. His first three events/speeches Michelle and Jim Bob have turned up. Michelle always says leave & cleave but Josh has never got a moment to be on his own without the family being somehow involved. It is great the have a loving large family but the younger kids need some school structure, just going back on this blog with all the filming, trips and time with Josh they are not getting a full school year. I hope Josh gets a chance to start doing events without his parents.

  9. Have you not heard of celebrities and other politicians campaigning for local elections? This happens all the time! And, as a homeschooler, I find the heat of summer the best time to get our studies done.

The Duggar Tour is being sponsored by the FRC so Jimbob is not paying expenses. Josh and the FRC is footing the bill on this one.

  11. Well, I guess now that Josh is a big man at FRC, he has another money pool to draw from to fund these wonderful field trips for his family now. Oh how they love to drag their children around and parade them in front of the public eye for their own gain. Those poor children. They don't even have a choice in the matter. I have seen Jim Bob and his family gatherings. This is what we are going to do-- big girls get everything packed and ready to go. We are hitting the road and you ARE going to play and sing for everyone that shows up. This family is no better than all the other reality shows taking advantage of their children for their own purpose and gain. SAD

I doubt they have any structured homeschooling. I think JimBob's income is from TLC's support! He doesn't "work" and Michelle doesn't "teach"!!!

  13. @AnonymousFRC wants JimBob and Michelle along; plus the whole dog and pony show---brings attention to their mission.

  14. I am sure the Duggars are lovely people. But due to their very busy lives I doubt that they have time to be fully politically informed. If they knew how racist, immoral and ignorant the people they support are, I'm sure they would change their minds.

I would like to thank the moderators of this board for allowing comments that are critical of the Duggars. I am a "fan" meaning I have watched the show from the beginning and I am a loyal watcher now. However, I do not agree with their extreme way of life. My comments are almost always rejected because I ask a lot of questions or disagree with what I have seen on the show. Kudos moderators for allowing differing opinions regarding the Va gov. Race.
