Dress Day with the Duggars Part 3

Last week, I shared the first two segments in a series of posts about my experience watching from behind the scenes as Joy-Anna Duggar shopped for her wedding dress. (Click here to read part one and here to read part two.)

After Joy selected her dress, the Duggar ladies (Michelle Duggar, Grandma Duggar, and all the sisters except Jill) gathered in a circle to share pictures (which they pinned to a board), memories, and praises.

Michelle said that Joy is an energy-giver and an encourager. Her little siblings love her, and her older siblings appreciate who she is

Jana talked about how quickly Joy has grown up and will soon be moving out of the house. She teared up, and the others did, as well.

Jinger reminisced about how Joy has left her tomboy ways and become a girly-girl, saying she is impressed at how mature her younger sister is and how deep her love is for Christ.

When it came time for Jennifer, Joy's buddy, to speak, she broke down crying. Joy assured Jennifer that she and Austin will live close to the family, so Jennifer can visit often.

Josie started sobbing and went to sit with her mom after giving Joy a big hug.

Steady Jordyn happily pinned her picture up but didn't cry.

Jessa talked about how tight Joy was with Josiah and Joseph before she started spending more time with the older girls. She said she is looking forward to seeing how God will use Joy and Austin's marriage to "change the world."

At the end, Joy told her family how thankful she is for each one of them.

  4. What world is Joy and Austin's marriage is supposed to "change?" Are they going to become missionaries or preachers?

    2. Don't underestimate the power of one godly couple - or even person - to do great things for God! I know of one woman who brought up 5 or 6 children who are actively serving God. Their children - this lady's grandchildren - are also serving God, in part because of the work she did as a mother. This same lady also had a dynamic prayer ministry. She may have never become famous here on earth, but she stored up great treasures in Heaven while she lived. Only time will tell how many people were affected by her life.

    3. You don't think everyone can do their part to change the world, especially in a team?

  5. Sounds like a very special time . It said all the sisters were present but Johannah isn't listed here. Was she at the dress shopping?

  6. It was so great to see and hear from Michelle!! TLC refuses to allow Jim Bob or Michelle any real time on the show - makes NO sense because the show would be so much better with the parents having an significant part.

    2. When TLC cancelled 19 kids part of the agreement for the new show was that Josh would not be shown at all, and Michelle and Jim bob would make very limited appearances, they must have been happy with the deal or contracts would not have been signed.

  7. I can't imagine how heart wrenching it must've been for them to say such things. I'm chocking up and holding back tears as I write this.

    2. 3:03, its not ok to judge someones feelings. When you are sad for example, you wouldn't want someone telling you that you don't need to be sad.

    3. I don't think Joy is moving as far away as Jinger. She will be able to visit often :)

    4. Anon. 5:00 - Because the Duggars will have to go through this experience until after Josie's married.

Anon. 3:03 - Sorry about that. I've grown fond of Joy and her family ever since I found out about them, so it's hard for me to see this happening. That's all.

    5. 9:33, are you the thought police? Do we need your permission to have a reaction to someone’s statement???You were judging someone’s else’s response. That’s not okay either.
