    3. They all looked so beautiful. I love this family and how positive they are. I think Joy is pregnant but only time will tell. All these rude comments are ridiculous. If you are not a fan of the show then don't read the blog or watch the show and criticize these sweet girls.

    4. You think Joy is pregnant and only time will tell? Uhhh, she's already announced her pregnancy, ages ago! You obviously missed that blog post...

    5. do you have any consideration whatsoever before you open your mouth? Imagine someone's saying to you when you are newly pregnant 'YOU ARE HUGE!!' How far along are you? How rude can you be?? How about a simple 'Joy looks quite pregnant. I hope she's feeling okay!' or something considerate.

  2. This wedding happened two months after Jill gave birth to Samuel but she still looks big and uncomfortable. Wonder what happened at birth to make her look like that. Poor thing, she looks like she's aged about 10 years.

    1. Yeah, these young girls racing into marriage and childbirth squashes those youthful figures pretty quick. Everyone says "poor Jana" but she probably enjoys still looking like a 20-something.

    2. May I please remind the readers of this blog to not get lured into this trap? The more people who reply to the above post, attempting to defend Jill against body-shaming, the more we are encouraging people to post inflammatory remarks. 4. Jill looked big in the bridesmaids pictures, but she didn't look that big when Kendra first greeted her and Michelle at the church. Jill had a jean skirt and t-shirt at that point and her tummy looked pretty flat, I thought.

    5. This comment is so unnecessary. Her body took 9 months to grow little Samuel and it will take several months to look back to “normal”. As a mother myself, this comment is very hurtful when people say it to me. Please be careful with how you word these comments.

    7. wow if this is how fans (especially most of us claim to be Christians) treat the Duggar ladies than it is truly a sad day. their weight is NO ones business. talk about being judgmental - makes me wonder if these people are really fans or just trolls who are here to make trouble. personally i tune in to watch kind, sweet, happy, living for the Lord, wonderful women - not caring if they have or have not gained some weight.

    8. Something sure seems off with Jill and both her pregnancies. For a mid-wife; it's like she's not aware of the pregnancy/delivery process and how to do everything possible to keep yourself and your baby healthy. Secondly, I feel like she's under lots of stress between keeping up her image as a missionary and Derick's health. Who knows what else burdens her? Depression, Josh and or more siblings marrying: who is caring for the kids left at home???

    9. I had abdominal surgery years ago and it took a long time for me to lose the "bulge".
Jill had a c section - it takes months in some cases to get back in shape.
      She looked lovely.
Joy - well, she might be having multiples - who knows. . . she looked 6 months pregnant in my opinion

    10. Those kids left at home...all three or four young enough to have
      Close supervision...
have a mother and father to take care of them ,
older brothers and sisters ...and a tutor,caregiver...
Funny in our minds .....19 kids need care..but they've grown up..❣

  3. What's with Joy's glasses? She doesn't normally wear them. Was she too lazy to put in her contacts for the wedding or does she just wear them as an accessory for attention? The huge stomach wasn't enough?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I wear both glasses and contacts and, sometimes, contacts just don't agree with my eyes. They make them red, uncomfortable and itchy. Doesn't happen all the times I wear contacts but some days contacts are just not happening. And on those days it doesn't matter if it's a family wedding or if I'm meeting the queen of England, glasses are going to have to be worn. Maybe her contacts weren't working for her that day. Be nice and be kind- you never know what happens behind the scenes.

      Delete
    2. Lazy? Why be so mean? Wow, that's taking it too far. Unless you actually hear her saying she didn't the energy, back off!

      Delete
    3. As a proud glasses wearer I see nothing wrong with her glasses!

      Delete
    4. Oops, I just commented the same thing without noticing your comment first. They detract from her beauty, so not sure why she had to wear them.

      Delete
    5. Some people just wear glasses. Stop being critical. She wasn’t trying to draw attention to herself, she was literally trying to see. Sheesh.

      Delete
    6. I don't see anything wrong to wear glasses in wedding.

      Delete
    7. Well, bless your heart. What sweet things you have to say about Joy.

      Delete
    8. As a long time contact-wearer, it was neither laziness nor a desire for attention causing Joy to wear her glasses. I'm sure she would have preferred wearing her contacts, as she usually does. Due to hormone fluctuations occurring during pregnancy, many women find they are often unable to wear their contacts (their eyes are less tolerant to what's essentially a foreign object). Many women find they need to rely on their glasses more during pregnancy. Some days the contacts feel fine and other days it feels like there is grit in your eyes...not a comfortable feeling. Other days, your eyes may be swollen and the lens doesn't "grip" as well and tends to sort of "float" when you blink or your eyes may feel dry and tired and the contacts feel "scratchy".

      Delete
    9. There is no reason to be rude and judgemental in your comments.

      Delete
    10. What an incredibly rude comment! So what if she wears glasses and she can't control how fast a baby grows in her uterus!

      Delete
    11. Some women who wear contacts find that they can't wear them while pregnant due to how the hormonal changes affect the eyes.

      Delete
    12. They’re probably a temporary thing. Women’s eyesight can change during pregnancy and instead of getting new contact lenses she probably felt it would've been easier to get glasses.

      Delete
    13. Pregnancy with your whole body. I personally couldn't stand wearing my contacts when I was pregnant, the bothered my eyes to much. I only wore them when I really wanted to and ended up taking them out after a few hours

      Delete
    14. Pregnancy may have caused her to be irritated by her contacts or caused her prescription to change it happens regularily

      Delete
    15. Anon. 10:02 - Hey! I think her glasses suit her quite nicely.

      Delete
    16. Dear hateful,
when i was pregnant, I couldn't wear my contacts either. Your snarky ugliness can go somewhere else.

      Delete
    17. Aren't you supposed to think the best of people? Because you seem to have a very negative mindset.

      Delete
    18. I didn't know pregnancy affected eyesight, but my feet grew an extra size and width. Ugh! I am also a proud wearer of glasses!

      Delete
    19. Would have been nice for her to remove them for the photos.

      Delete
    20. I didn't even notice that JoyAnna was wearing her glasses, as a person who wears glasses and can't wear contacts, leave us alone, It doesn't matter there are more things to worry about than if someone is wearing or not wearing glasses

      Delete
    21. What bothers me more is people who should be wearing glasses but don't, due to vanity.

      Delete
    22. I find this thread quite hurtful. Glasses are not just an accessory, they are a medical device required by many people in order to see properly. You wouldn't suggest that someone should take their hearing aids out because they don't look nice, would you? What about a wheelchair? My preschooler has awful vision, and her glasses are a part of her as they make her eyes work right. If someone gave her a hard time because her glasses somehow draw too much attention to her in a photo, I would be very upset. I also wear glasses, and I have never been able to tolerate contacts. There's absolutely nothing to feel ashamed of if you require glasses to see, and no one should be called lazy for using a medical device that enables her eyes to work properly.

    23. Going to be quite frank here- I'm amazed at the high priority a number of viewers and fans admit to, when they post such things as how beautiful the Duggar girls are and Kendra. Many posts list this physical attribute first when describing these young women, while some go on to qualify their post with "inside and out" tacked on because they're aware we shouldn't be measuring people by their looks. Given that many posters here self-identify as Christians (many of them freely "rebuking" anyone who disagrees with them), this ongoing attention to how pretty the girls are is not how God determines our value and worth. I often wonder how committed the fan base would be if the girls stopped wearing makeup and styled their hair "plainly" (no curling irons, no fancy updo's, no dying/highlighting/perming). If there were no fancy weddings to follow, would they still have a following? It just seems like a lot of fans and viewers posting here are following for the wrong reasons. It's feels like many are living their lives vicariously through the Duggars- people watching others do something they wish they themselves could do or live a lifestyle they wish they had. What happens when TLC finally does cancel the series? To everything there is a time and season.

  4. These are some wonderful pictures that were taken here today. It seems that Joy is carrying in front which makes her look farther along then she really is. Anna looked beautiful in these pictures to with her baby bump making an appearance. So cute. Especially being up there with the blushing bride. Such good times and fun memories for both the Caldwell's and Duggar's to enjoy.

    3. It wouldn't surprise me, this show has run its course. When all you have is courtships, engagements, weddings and babies it becomes repetative even if it is a different sibling each time. Every wedding is very similar, nothing really different, no beach wedding or outdoor wedding or small intimate affair. If TLC does one more season I won't be surprised if its the last, unless Jana starts courting of course!

      Delete
    4. IF Jana married, IMO she WILL put the brakes on these overly attended weddings.
I think TLC would be wise to show the fans the "husbands" at their jobs and their individual homelives etc.
STOP repeating scenes of past shows.

    5. I don’t care if all they show is courtships, engagements, weddings, and babies! It is what is going on in their lives right now, so that is what they should show. I love the show. The weddings have all been sweet. I like seeing the kids growing up and being so happy and falling in love.

    1. My father had his dad as his best man. He said he thought about who his best friend was and realized that role belonged to his dad. It warms my heart every time I think of it.

      Delete
    2. I think it is a very personal choice. I think she will always be grateful her mom was in her wedding. Many many kids grow into adults who want nothing to do with their parents. How amazing that she is so close with her mother. It looks to me like her mom is her friend, and that says so much. Good for her!

      Delete
    3. My sister did. It's a way to show love. Bridesmaids are good friends of the bride; it just shows that she counts her mom as a close friend and mother.

      Delete
    4. In my opinion, being the "Mother of the Bride" was very special. I would think that title would get somewhat lost in the bridesmaid role. I was a minister when both my children were married, and I chose not to be the officiant. Many people could fit the minister role, but not so much with the role as mother of the bride or groom.

      Delete
    5. Oh please!! They are home schooled so their social opportunities outside family are not as numerous!! I personally thought it was sweet Kendra included her mom in her bridal party. After all, many of us look at our wedding day as a chance to "run from mom and dad". It's says a lot about her moms character and their relationship.

      Delete
    6. Since I don't know the Duggars personally, I'm going to assume your comment was limited to them and their particular lifestyle. I'm not sure where you got the idea that homeschooled kids have limited social opportunities, but that's not necessarily true. Nearly every homeschooler we know participates in Scouting, traveling children's choirs, competitive swim teams, seasonal sports teams, bands, dance classes and large-scale performances...in addition to multi-age Co-Ops, as well as same grade peer classes. Most of these young people are more comfortable interacting socially with others of diverse age (5-95 yrs old) than their public school counterparts. That's not a slam to public school children, it's just a difference in social structuring ("culture") within the educational environment.

    1. I doubt they listen that closely to fan e-mails or use them to make final decisions. The numbers needed to show the parent company and the sponsors that a program is still worth investing in (and airing) come from the Nielsen ratings. That information is gathered through specially selected households, and the data is used to estimate how many viewers there are for a program. Just tuning your cable box to TLC doesn't add to those numbers, nor would sending an e-mail. In the business world, you need hard data to show a client or a CEO, not opinions.

      Delete
    2. ANONYMOUS 9:48 am... You are correct about Nelson ratings being the determining factor whether a TV show can produce enough revenue to keep it on the air. A few years ago I was actually one of those mysterious "Nelson Families"!I kept a log on programs viewed, how many TVs, age of viewers etc. Nelson ratings REALLY do exist lol! The only thing that has changed as far as measuring ratings is that they now can factor in shows that you watch from your DVR. not saying anyone's keeping tabs on shows you DVR. i'm saying that the Nelson families can now include shows they've watched from their DVR.

I just proof read my comment prior to posting and I see my auto-correct changed Nielson to Nelson! Anyways y'all know I mean Nielson! Too much work to go back and change it. It's Saturday and it's my lazy day lol! I just want to add that if the ratings for Counting On are borderline, TLC may take positive comments under consideration for renewing the show for another season. So, if you want it to stay on the air, let TLC know, not this blog! I mean, all positive comments here are nice, but that won't affect whether the show stays on! E-mail TLC! post on Counting On/TLC facebook! Let your voice be heard!

      Delete
    3. I agree with 9:48- Ratings and sponsors are the name of the game. A few emails from die-hard fans to TLC won't make any difference. The original 19 kids and Counting was pulled because advertisers were getting tremendous flak from consumers over the Josh scandals. I think it's time the whole family resumes normal, private lives, away from cameras. Why would you want the children to continue to have their lives exhibited on TV- just for your viewing pleasure?

And before everyone starts bashing me.. when you respond, send me your personal FB request so I can go in and make nasty comments about how fat you are, how ugly your husband is, how stupid your children are, how lazy your sister is. This blog Ian intended for fans. Yes- fans can disagree and have the right to do so. I don't necessarily agree with getting married and having children at such a young age,.. but you can do so respectfully. Even the true duggar fan comments to "defend" the Duggars have gotten out of control.

    4. Anon 12:21 who are you to tell Ellis how to run her blog? A blog is an exchange of ideas and opinions. This isnt a Hallmark card to the Duggars. Fans who see things that concern them have a right to express that. Give you our Facebook address so you can insult us? First of all we didnt sign up to be public figures nor did we sign up and get paid to put our personal business out to the public like the Duggars. A little dramatic over a tv reality family there.

      Delete
  25. Betty I thought about contacting TLC like you said but what would the show be about? Seems like it is just weddings, courtship and births. What would the premise of the show be? The other reality shows have specific dynamics that are not common in our life which makes them more of a fun and learning experience such as the little couple, families with quilts etc. I truly feel that the Duggars have run their course on reality tv which maybe that's Gods will that they now get jobs and live private lives. It kind of feels at this point that we are being nosey people peeking into young adults lives who are just starting out in their marriages, when really it's not any of our business. We all have those exact scenarios in our own lives, young adults just starting out that we can be a part of. I pray Gods best for them and that they would know how good privacy will feel for them and their little ones, they I know will love the peace that comes with it.

    1. The show has always been about what is happening in their lives. Right now that is a lot of weddings and babies. I don’t watch any other reality tv shows except the Bates family. I still find the Duggars very interesting. I love that my family and I can watch the show without worrying about someone using curse words or talking inappropriately. I hope they stay on the air.

They all work whether fixing up houses or cars, pastoring or being missionaries, or working in their family business. None of them make their sole living from the show. I am sure they don’t make near as much money as everyone thinks since it has to be split between so many people. It really isn’t that interesting to watch someone at work. I would rather see the wedding shopping and other things.

      Delete
    2. Anonymous @3:35- What you said about how the Duggars make their money may be true, but viewers never see the Duggar children (adult or minor) actually doing ministry or preaching (Jeremy excepted), fixing up and selling those cars, actually working the family businesses (buying/repairing/selling those used cars or doing those rental and commercial repairs for Jim Bob on his properties, working as a Certified Midwife for anyone outside of the immediate family, etc.). The fans and viewers have yet to see an accounting for the two years of ministry financial donations and support from the professional Accountant. Please remember their Reality TV show isn't the only revenue stream they've built based on their name and likenesses (seminars, books, guest speaking engagements, etc.). They've built quite a little empire and made a great deal of money on their image and their faith.

  27. I loved watching the wedding on TV! It was so sweet! They are a precious couple! Praise the Lord for bringing them together! I am just concerned that we have not had more pictures of them after the wedding? They are due their privacy of coarse but it would be nice to see how they are doing. Regardless, they are in my thoughts and prayers!

    1. Why are you concerned that you haven't seen pictures? Do you think no pictures = something terrible has happened? Maybe they are enjoying some newlywed privacy.

  28. Was Kendra's guest list indeed smaller than the other Duggar weddings? It seemed to be so. How many invitations were sent out? Apparently, the Caldwell family had some very nice food for their guests. I noticed several chafing dishes on the buffet table. Very nicely done, IMO.

  29. Was Josh a Groomsmen or not?
It’s his brothers wedding not his sisters. He had no business being in his sisters weddings but this is different. If he was in the wedding (I think he was) why are they cropping him out of the video and photos?

    1. TLC won't show him. Check out pictures and videos from the Duggar family website. There's a video from Josh & Anna saying congratulations to the newlyweds.

  31. It's the'radio silence' that has viewers speclating about Jill and Derick regarding Sam's birth. This family has said NOTHING much at all about it and that's very strange for them. If the Dillards want to take a break from publicity and lay low at this time, they should make a statement about it. They haven't. That's very strange.

  32. Ellie, why didn't You choose a photo with ALL the bridesmaids in it? Or at least name the ones not pictured (ahem edited out).

  33. Lily and Ellie,
Why didn't y'all name the other bridesmaids not pictured in either photo? There were 4 other bridesmaids. There was Anna Duggar, Johanna Duggar, Jennifer Duggar, and a tall blonde lady I've never seen on the show.

  34. Why did Kendra include so many Duggar girls as her bridesmaids? Surely she has other girl friends or other girls in her family?
