Dillard Update

Jill Dillard, Joy-Anna Duggar, Israel Dillard, Carlin Bates, Derick Dillard

As we previously shared, Joy-Anna Duggar and Carlin Bates, both 17 years old, traveled back to Central America with Jill and Derick Dillard the day after Michaela Bates' wedding.

The primary purpose of the Dillards' weekend trip back to the United States was to film for the TLC documentary that aired on Sunday, so they were thrilled that the dates lined up with the wedding.

Joy and Carlin remained in Central America for two weeks and enjoyed keeping Israel company while Jill and Derick studied for their intensive Spanish classes. These classes have already opened doors for the Dillards to share the Gospel more widely.

"We are so grateful for your partnership and friendship as we work to bring many to Christ in Central America!" Jill wrote in a recent ministry update. Stay tuned for more photos!

  3. It would be really nice if they would stop trying to convert Catholics to Christianity...because Catholics are Christian. If they want to help poor people...provide for them through your donations the means to feed, house and clothes these people who clearly need the help. Catholicism is the religion of their fore-fathers it's very disrespectful to force upon poor people your version of religion. Stop doing that. It's not nice.

    1. I truly want to say in the most loving way, I don't know where your insight on what mission trips include but we are called to share the gospel at home and everywhere by Jesus. And believe it or not there are people who sit in churches every Sunday who are not Christians because they do not have a relationship with Christ. Those who go out into the mission field don't force anything on people, the people are usually very receptive to missionaries. And there although spreading the gospel is a part of the work they also show Christ love by trying to meet the needs of the locals they befriend. It may be providing clean water, food, medicine, educational resources, whatever is needed.

    2. What they are doing is great. Catholics also need to be saved. Keep on preaching and sharing the Gospel Dillard family. And as you do that, share the love of God by providing food, clothes and other necessities as i am sure you are already doing. God bless you and your family.

    3. I believe there are Catholics who are born again. There are a lot of nominal Catholics or those steeped in tradition missing something which is the relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ that those who are born again Catholic or Protestant have.

    4. I am Catholic, and I AM Christian. I don't think I'd fall into your "born again" category, but I want to show you that, yes, traditional Catholics DO in fact have a personal relationship with Christ. We belive that we are truly all born again at baptism, this time as children of God!! :) Whether or not we attain ultimate union with Christ in heaven is up to us. We need to fully cooperate with the graces Christ offers us every single day, and we need to live a holy, upright life according to the commandments given to us. We as Carholics also cooperate with Christ's grace and mercy through the reception of the sacraments. One in particular we believe unites our very bodies and souls with Christ as fully as nothing else on earth can...we receive Jesus Himself in the Eucharist. Whether or not you believe this is up to you. I just want to show you that we can and do have very personal relationships with Jesus Christ. Thanks and God bless!!

    5. I totally agree with you. Catholics are Christians and in fact, the first Christians who brought Christianity into the world. It is disrespectful, as you stated, to force their version of Christianity upon these people who are already Christian. As a Catholic, I have to say it's better to work together to bring these poor people things they don't have like medical care, education, and materials to help them with their day to day needs.

    1. I was wondering the same thing. Its kind of unlike the Duggars to not have a baby on the way

    2. Jill is still probably healing from the C Section. Israel was a very large baby. If she's choosing to wait. That's ok. Israel is still a baby. Perhaps Jill & Derick are just enjoying being first time parents. Jill's body still needs to heal.

  6. I agree with many of the statements here. If the people there have physical needs, then do provide for them. Provide your own wealth to them. Help with their shelter, their homes, food, clothing...etc. That speaks volumes to them. And as you work along side of them witness. Jimmy Carter put actions to his words. Do the same. I can't help but wonder what are you doing over their? I wonder, I really wonder what is your gain ? I do like you Jill. You are a cute girl.

  7. Jill, do you get free room and board? Free meals? Are you given a salary ? Is it cheaper over there? Are the costs of clothing cheaper ? Do you get more for your money ? Will you be a midwife there or did you give it up ? What does Derrick do ?

    ReplyDelete
  8. I love you Jill. Why did you leave? You had a career, that made good money . Derrick had a job. You had a nice house. Is it less expensive there ?

  9. I think Israel doesn't look like any digger at all...He looks like a Dillard...especially his grandmother

  10. I would like say how much I miss 19 kids and counting! You are all in my prayers! It's time for all of the Duggers to heal. Especially Anna and her children.

  11. Love seeing Jill. Sad to see that the Dugga show is over. I guess it will never come back. Good to see her life moved on in a positive direction.

  13. Good luck on spreading the Word of God to the people of El Salvador with your new Español speaking skills. You'll soon get the hang of it.
If I could, I'd like to chat with the Dillards in Español. (This is said in a respectful way).
I hope Joy and Carlin and fun babysitting Israel. They'll be great moms in God's timing.
Cheers all the way from Ecuador!

  14. If all the people in this country are practicing Christians with no need to hear and understand God's Word, then why is the crime rate so high?

  17. Cute pictures. I glad Joy-Anna & Carlin when their to help out. Israel is so cute. He diffently looks like Derick. But he has Jill eyes. Jill & Derick diffentky look to thin.

I hope when they were here in the States they went and saw Derick's Mom.

  19. How incredibly sad and uncharitable that purported "Christians" would use this forum to bash Catholics. We are Christians that have a very close and personal relationship with Christ. It is ignorant AND unChristian behavior to say otherwise about us.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Actually, the Catholics did the same thing to the Native Americans. The Native Americans had their own religion. The Catholics invaded their country and converted them to Catholicism.

  21. @AnonymousI agree with the comments about converting Christians to Christianity. We lived in Mexico for a few years and even the poorest people were devoted Catholic Christians, help them if you can, show them love, but don't tell them to dress like you or that their Faith is wrong.....

  22. I'm a Catholic and I was saved on that Friday at 3 o clock when he died on the cross ! My relationship with Jesus Is very strong and I renew that relationship each time I receive the blessed communion at mass . I receive Jesus in the body and blood and he is with me as I love and serve the Lord!
    Peace be with you!

  23. @Anonymous I would like to explain. I was raised a Catholic. Tried all my life to be good enough. Followed all the teachings and beliefs but felt something was missing. I met my husband who share with me a rich life with Jesus as a personal Savior. I am a Christian. I am a Bible believer. I live by Faith. I am no longer a Catholic. I am a devout Christian. There is more to it than a doctrine. It is loving and serving my Savior who paid a price for my sins....Jill and Derreck could reach many Catholics here, if that was their desire.. There was no need to go there.

  24. I would like to know why did Jill enter the missionary field so quickly? It seems, she rushed into everything so fast. I am not saying she can't handle it. . Instead of going slow she rushed it all. She studied being a midwife. She had loved it. Why didn't she give herself time to earn a living, and enjoy life a bit before marriage? . Be a single working woman for awhile. . Why did she place her whole identity into becoming a wife and mother? She went from a homeschool to a married life. Then motherhood right away. Wasn't that a lot of changes in one's life suddenly? And a lot of responsibilities? When did she ever enjoyed life ? She always had baby on her hip. Even her own mother Michelle had given herself years before she started a family. I remember my mother saying she married and had children right away. She wished she's had waited for awhile to marry and to have children.

  27. I think you are a adorable family. So many smiles. When will you be moving back? Is there a lot of wok needed over there ? I can see you helping the poor here. There so many homeless in the different cities in the US.You would do great work here. Wouldn't need to learn another language.

  31. In an earlier mission update, Jill explained that they had been sharing the Gospel with gang members - These people do not attend the Catholic Church, and need to hear the Gospel more than anyone.
Anyways, I have a friend who has been a missionary in Mexico for 40 years and you would be surprised how unCatholic some of the local churches are! Catholics are even sending people down there to start "afresh" because the local church in certain areas in Mexico has become corrupted by local religious tradtions and the attendees are totally ignorant. The "priests" tell them that they will go to Hades if they ever read or listen to someone preach from the Bible. European and American Catholics will tell you that nothing could be further from the truth! Anyways, the Dillards' ministry is in partnership with all Christians and is not threatening to true Catholic congregations in El Salvador, because they all want the same thing - for gang members to become peaceful Christ followers; for hungry children to be fed, etc.!

  33. Jill You were a great daughter, sister, friend, wife, and now a new mother. You did you're best. Always.Sometimes I think you did too much. Did you ever do anything for yourself ? Now I know it's kinda little too late to think on those terms, and I am sorry about asking . But all the same, I worry about you. I really do. Your mother never seemed to rush into things. And even waited to start a family. Your mother centered her life on you kids when she became a Mom .. That was her full time job. Jill, You have taken on more than your mother did though . To be very honest, it's not easy being around a man 24 -7 . How are you doing it? Prayers probably sees you through it all right !? The best to ya Honey !

  34. I have a question. I hope someone can answer. Why do many large churches sponsor missionaries and the missionaries still seek money from people outside of their own churches? I honestly don't get it. The churches even send the missionaries over there, so why do the missionaries seek more money as if they are over there penniless ? They don't go over there abandoned , do they ? . And there are missionary organizations who sponsor them too, aren't there? . I could never figure that out any of that. Jill,. Why don't you open a "gofund " if you have some needs you want meet Jill, so people know what you needs are like you did for your wedding gifts and baby gifts ? Look, I am not trying to be smart, I would like to understand..

  36. I wish you would just let us know if Jill is pregnant again, To many hiding belly shots, only makes it kinda obvious and some other signs. It a glorious thing, I don't care what anyone says about how many children anyone has. They are a blessing, they are the hope for the future of this world. Esp in today's world. <3 My guess is she is due in March or April...

  38. I'm happy for both Jill and Jess' choice of husbands. They seem to love you deeply. You picked well, and I wish you both a lifetime of happiness. My heart is sad for what your lovely family is going through right now.
But honestly, I have to say, run Anna - run fast and hard from Josh, a sick individual who has lived a long and dishonest life of lies and perversion. I hope he can find healing and forgiveness, but he has a long long road ahead. You need to protect your babies.

  39. I would actually like to see more pictures of what they are doing in C-A. The people, the scenery, ministering to people, fellowships with the locals, more detail of their mission work. Not just everyday pics of them holding Israel or shopping or sightseeing.

I too use anonymous because i have tried entering name but it would not show up on blog.
