Jill Dillard, CPM

Jill Dillard is now a certified professional midwife. Congratulations, Jill! To earn this certification, she has spent the past three-and-a-half years taking courses, studying for exams, doing research, completing clinicals, and working under a local midwife. The Dillards are currently in Arkansas for a few weeks, which allowed Jill to take the seven-hour exam to receive her license.

"I am so proud of her for her diligence, perseverance, and hard work to see this long road through to its end and reaching her goal of becoming a CPM," Derick wrote of his wife on the Dillards' website. Jill, who is now "Jill Dillard, CPM," plans to use her midwifery skills on the mission field.

Derick posted references to four Bible verses that fit this occasion well.

"Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might, for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going." (Ecclesiastes 9:10)

"And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men." (Colossians 3:23)

"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." (Mathew 6:33)

"Knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin." (Romans 6:6)

  10. And here's another beauty-- my own life verse: Psalm 90:17. "And let the beauty of the LORD be upon us, and establish Thou the work of our hands upon us, yea, the work of our hands establish Thou it."

  30. "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might, for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going." (Ecclesiastes 9:10) - This passage confuses me. Is Sheol a middle ground between Heaven and Hell like a limbo, Hades as in Hell, or a combination of Heaven and Hell with a gate between them? And why would Derrick say Jill was going there? What does this have to do with midwifery? Very cryptic.

  31. Congratulations Jill!!!
You & Jana are my favorite Duggars

  32. Jill deserves praise for working to achieve her goal and finally arriving! At the same time lets not forget that Jesus Christ came to seek and to save that which was/is lost, or in other words for sinners not there righteous - Jesus made a way for transgressors to come to God and be made right before God, not by their own righteousness -but by the righteousness Jesus freely gives because of his finished work on the cross, so there maybe a reference to a sinners failure here but Jesus said He is the way, the door, the gate, no one gets to the Father but by him. As disgusting as sinners are
they are going in by the same gateway to the Father as the righteous are.

  49. Congratulations Jill on fulfilling one of God's callings on your life. May you be as big a blessing to the women you help and minister to on the mission field afar as you have been to the women you've helped and ministered stateside. So proud you've persevered throughout the many attacks on your family and what you've been through yourself. You are a mighty woman of God and I know that the Lord has great things instore for you, Derrick, and your precious Israel and any other children born into your family. Your children will grow up with a love for others as well as missionary work because you and Derrick are such great examples of a couple with true servants hearts. Again congratulation on becomng a CPM. May God richly bless you in all you do in Jesus' name.

  50. The admonition about sheol in Ecclesiastes 9:10 was directed toward pre-Christ followers of God, not towards Christians after Christ. If she's a Christian, Jill is not going to sheol, which was a type of waiting place. Christians are present with the Lord as soon as they are absent from the body. Christ told the thief on the cross that he would be with Him that day in paradise. Respectfully… as a Christian and especially now as a missionary, Derick really should understand the context before he posts verses and possibly misleads people.

  53. Lily and Ellie, If i remember correctly, wasn't Jana taking doula classes along with Jill? If so is she still pursuing a degree in that field? I can't wait for the day that sweet Jana gets married, she has always been my favorite, she is such a classic beauty with such a sweet kind heart, any man would be so blessed to call her his wife.I miss them all, truly I do.
