Duggars and Dillards in Branson

A group of Duggars and Dillards are spending their Saturday at Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri. Won't be long before another little one joins in on the fun, as Jill Dillard is due with Baby Dilly #2 in just a few weeks.

  1. Again? Laura sure is spending a lot of time with the duggars, is she their new tutor since Tabitha Paine left?

  2. Is it just me or we see a lot of Laura lately ... Is she courting someone in the family ?

    1. Anon @ 6:57. Laura is 31 years old so probably too old for most of the sons, except maybe John David. I think she is their new tutor, remeber Tabitha Paine got exactly the same speculation until she addressed it herself.

    2. I know Laura personally. She is a very close friend of Jana's and I believe she spends lots of time with them to help Jana with the kids. ;)

    3. B.M. Maybe you should let Laura know that people are asking questions and she could put out a statement to quash all the rumors.

    4. Yeah, let's hear the truth straight from Laura and end any speculation.

    1. I read on another site that Jill very foolishly liked a post that someone else made saying that members of a gang who are active in south and central america should be executed if they kill. These gangs are extremely dangerous and would not think twice about targeting missionaries. The Dillards keep pointing out that where they are is already very dangerous, not a very wise move to make yourself a target. They may need to rethink going back for their own safety and the safety of their children. There is plenty of help they could give on their own doorstep, you can mission anywhere.

    2. The Dillards and Duggars do not go to South America. They go to Central America, which is actually on the continent of North America.

    3. Are there no cities in the US where wives and children are in danger?

  4. Okay seriously, is Laura a Duggar? She and Jana look so much alike! Is she courting John David? Something is up. Unless, she is being paid to be 'sibling partner' for Jana, since all her sisters are married and gone. Just wondering, because she has appeared in almost every pic with Jana since Joy became engaged.

  5. I find it interesting that Laura is beginning to pop up more and more in the family photos. Am I the only one seeing this?

    1. No you're not the only one to notice, and some explanation from the family or Ellie would be nice. Why is it we always get questions answered that we don't want to know (someone's favorite color or cheese), but we never get answers to the big obvious questions?

    2. Agree, 12:27. This family sure keeps mum on things unless there's a camera in front of them. And then it's all fun & games & parties & showers.

  6. Is Laura more than just a family friend? She has been in a ton of pictures of this family lately. Is she the new tutor? Or is she about to start courting someone?

    1. Anon @ 7:53 The Duggars need to address this matter or it is going to be constant speculation every time a picture of this young woman appears. I really think she might be their new tutor, but the speculation around if she is dating one of the duggar sons is going to get as annoying as the is Jinger pregnant speculation all the time.

    2. when they want us to know they will tell us. Leave it alone.

    3. The Duggars don't "owe" us explanations or public statements about everything we're curious about. We don't really need to know everything about them, and if we feel like we do or that we're "owed" the information, maybe it's time for us to refocus priorities in our lives.

  11. I'm beginning to wonder if this family is being compensated to endorse this theme park.

    1. Something is going on. It would cost them hundreds of dollars to visit each time with a group that size, and they've already been there a few times this season, with larger groups, too. I thought Derick and Jill were living on donations alone?

      Delete
    2. Freebie is the word that springs to mind lol!

    3. A lot of theme parks offer inexpensive season passes especially to those who live in the same state as the theme park.

    4. so what the park should be honored that someone like the Duggars would enjoy the park. Im glad to know it good for the park good for business.

    5. Anon @ 8:30 the Duggars don't live in the state they live in Arkansas so no special discount there. t say the Duggars are not royalty or A list stars so it is a bit of a stretch to say the park should feel honored that they enjoy the park, I agree that it probably does them no harm re publicity though.

  14. Hang in there Jilly! I had my first boy in the middle of the hot Texas summer in 2015. I'm hoping the heat in Arkansas will be a little less intense for you in the last two weeks of your pregnancy. Bless you and your family :)

I'm actually pregnant with my second baby, due January 13th. Since y'all are very knowledgeable about pregnancy and have a lot of experience, I might as well ask you this question that has been on my mind: Do your ankles, legs, etc etc swell less in the cooler months? Having had my first on a 108 degree summer day and how I was so swollen, I can't help but wonder if the heat made it worse. My feet looked like loaves of bread haha. I know y'all are busy but I would love to hear your experience on this matter if you get a chance. Have a nice day :)

    1. I went to the doctor one time with swollen legs from the knees down and the doctor sent me immediately to have tests done to rule out heart or kidney failure. And I wasn't even pregnant! Being swollen "like loaves of bread" is no laughing matter and a sign that something may be seriously wrong. You should be asking that question in person to a doctor, not an online board.

      Delete
    2. Katie- Sounds like you need to talk to a real doctor, not the Duggars or a blog about what may be serious health issues.

      Delete
    3. My feet and hands get puffy in the hot weather, and it was worse during pregnancy. Puffy lower legs and feet are common during later stages of pregnancy.

      Delete
    4. I had alot of swelling with my first. Legs and ankles. And this was in jan and feb. I went to my doctor and it was normal. But i would ask your doctor for sure.

      Delete
    5. When my ankles were that swollen I was under the care of my doctor haha I just wanted to know from others' experiences out of curiosity. If my ankles swell up again I will obviously talk to my doctor (I have to roll my eyes). Just wanted to know if women who have had a lot of babies (the Duggars) had noticed a difference in hot or cold weather.

    1. I would support some business in my local community, not drive 15 hours each way to go to this place. Too many people forget to vacation in their own back yard, where their spending benefits them and their neighbors most.

    2. It's expensive...wonder how they are affording it??

  18. It's so nice that they live close enough to Silver Dollar City to get out for some fun family/friend time in such a warm, welcoming venue.

  23. Seeing Jana with the little ones I can't help thinking, who is going to help her with all the housework and taking care of children, now that Joy is married and Jana being the only older girl left in the house?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Jim Bob and Michelle's youngest child is now 7. All of the children have duties that not only help keep the household running, but also teach them to be responsible. Michelle and Jim Bob work to provide for their children and themselves and also spend time seeking to know what's on their children's hearts. Jana might perhaps spend more time on housework than her siblings who are still in school (although we don't even know whether or not that is the case), but she still has plenty of time to pursue her own personal interests. She certainly has the resources to leave home if she wanted to. She herself has stated that she's happy living at home and enjoys being with her family. Yes, she's happy - she says so herself. People who spend time feeling sorry for her are wasting their emotions.

    1. I was thinking the same thing. I hope they induce her if she is late again or they could run into the same problems.

    2. I hope she doesn't do anything silly and takes sound medical advice. I heard she is hoping for a VBAC and home birth, not the wisest move after having one very large baby and previous c-section.

      Delete
    3. The size of your stomach doesn't always determine how big your baby will be. I'm a little bigger than her with my fifth, and due the same time. My biggest was 7 lbs. So, it doesn't mean he will be huge.

  25. Jill 'looks very low' in this photo; I can't believe she's so close to delivery and she went to a hot, sunny outdoor place like SDC; they go so often, no reason to chance it now. She'll likely be there 50 more times this year alone.

  26. A friend I work with saw the Duggars at Silver Dollar City and even got photos with them. My friend doesn't follow the show but she stated the girls all wore a LOT of make-up. I thought that was an interesting comment coming from someone who is not in any way a conservative christian. I have noticed Jinger wears less make-up and doesn't appear to "tan" like she used to now that she is married. Jeremy is good for her!

  29. Wow Johannah is so tall! :-)
I was wondering at what age the girls don't have to wear legging under the dresses. I think it's great that they do it for modesty but it's so hot in the summer and Johannah is 11. I think she should know how to be modest now ;-) Love the family:-)

    1. Even adults wearing skirts at an amusement park need leggings unless they aren't going to ride rides.
Sure she can be modest normally, but while riding an upside down roller coaster you need the leggings

      Delete
    2. I'm guessing they do it as a security measure for the younger girls. Jennifer's skirt is no shorter than Jana's, yet Jennifer has leggings and Jana does not.

      Delete
    3. Leggings are probably not a bad idea when at a theme park riding rides... some of which may go upside down or have quick drops. You know someone is probably just waiting to catch one of these sweet girls in an uncomfortable situation.

      Delete
    4. It's not the length of the dress.. I'm sure it's what they do. Since Jana is not going to be running around on the floor playing, she's probably safe. The younger girls would not be. Use some common sense folks.

      Delete
    5. A pair of shorts would be more practical for the heat and for modesty at an amusement park.

      Delete
    6. Oh! you right,I forgot where they were! It is a good idea to wear them :-) Thanks for the answers!

    7. For goodness sakes, let them wear PANTS!!!!!

  31. From reading the comments and seeing people say the Duggars are at Silver Dollar City a lot and from comments about people having their pictures taken with the Duggars I can see why they have to go all the time. If people keep asking for pictures and/or autographs and they are gracious enough to give them they may not have time to do everything they want. haha. If I saw them I would want to let them have their time together but I would probably end up asking for a picture too.
