Duggar Wedding Prep: Groom and Groomsmen

There's a lot that goes into planning and executing a wedding, especially one with 1,000 guests. Michelle Duggar's childhood friend Cindy pins boutonnieres on the groom and groomsmen, while Joy-Anna and the bridesmaids get ready separately.

  1. I Loved John John acting like he got stuck when she was pinning boutonniere on!

    1. His laugh is just like Jim Bob's laugh!

    2. Josiah did that same "joke" before at another wedding. They are masters of comedy these men.
And yes, John does have Jimbobs laughs exactly. My sister and I are the same way.

    3. Stephanie: They are hardly masters of comedy, mildy humorous at best. I don't think any of them could make a living as a stand up comedian. Maybe we just have a different sense of humor, which is ok, differences make the world more interesting!

    4. I was joking. They are NOT funny was my point. In fact, it was extra lame that John did the exact same thing as Josiah on camera and neither was funny.

  2. I heard Derick was sick at the wedding. He really needs to get himself back to the Dr because he looks ill. I know hes naturally tall and slim, but he is skinny and still looks gaunt. Jill is going to need him to help with Izzy and the new baby, he needs to take his health seriously.

    1. They just addressed this! He went back to the Dr. They gave him some kind of allergy medicine I believe. I'm pretty sure Lilly and Elly have some info on the recap from the first episode.

  3. I liked the grooms men's grey suits, but didnt care for the blue color of Austin's. Joy looked very happy & beautiful.

  4. One doesn't look as frightening as Derick was looking from an allergy. I believe Derick has or had more going on with his health than that. Hopefully, he will be open and honest, truthful about his ordeal, perhaps he can help someone else out there who is suffering like he had been. To keep mum about it would be a bit selfish given that he has a platform to spread some good helpful medical information.

    1. I am a nurse and I agree 6:41 whatever is wrong with Derick is more than allergies. I know he couldn't eat after his jaw surgery but that was quite a while ago, he should be looking better than he does by now. We also didn't hear any further updates re Jills heart/vascular problem, hope she is ok, another reason a hospital birth would be safer for her.

    2. Huh? It's wrong and selfish for Derick to keep his health details to himself????? I don't understand your reasoning.

    3. He could have food allergies. They can make one really sick.

    4. Anon @ 5;46 This is a family that shares everything on TV and social media, I am sure we will see Henrys birth episode, that is a moment that should be private. All that was pointed out was that in sharing Derick could help someone else.

  5. She is just pinning on their flowers, how does that become a personality demonstration? I think she overdid the comments a little.

  6. Love John David's sense of humor! He has Jim Bob's same sense of funny - wonder if John does the two thumbs up too?!

  8. Lily and Ellie will you be doing a recap of Amys TLC special? I would be interested to hear how she is doing, always loved her on the show. Thank you.

  9. Ok, the wedding was a week ago and we have been saturated with pictures and info. Lovely as it was is there nothing new happening? Please do not let this go the same way as Jingers wedding where we were still covering it five months later. They didn't cover the royal wedding as much as this!!

  10. i got a kick out of john-david. he has such a dry sense of humor, i love it! i wonder if the wedding coordinator, laura, jana's friend, is single because she would look adorable with john-david! (lol, although he did call himself 'bachelor til the rapture')

  11. I disagree. My brother suffers from allergies and asthma, and he used to look gaunt like Derick, with the "allergy eyes." And no need to malign his character with what has or has not been revealed about his health.

  12. To keep quiet about it is his legal right. He is not obligated to share just because he is on the show. If he doesn't want to share that's okay. Praying that he is fully healed.

  13. I think he has a stomach issue like Crohn's disease because you get thin from not being able to keep food in you and you get nauseous a lot from even the smell of food sometimes. I was sick with it for many years when I was younger and stress can make it a lot worse (like being far away) I agree it's not allergies !

  14. I used to be in the floral business. I absolutely did not understand their timing with the flowers (once again). The hanging ones were put up too soon or without a water source, and they started to wilt. Cindy and her helpers had to scramble to refresh them at the last minute. (This is why you cut underwater at an angle with a very sharp knife, not with cell-crushing snips, then go immediately into the vial pick before the stem dries.) The boutonnieres, which would have been fine for at least 24 hours if kept cold and moist, weren't made til it was almost time to pin them on.

What they did went against all timing we used for weddings. If it was a Saturday wedding, most of the work was done by Thursday night and kept in the cooler. Friday was your day to take care of any last-minute needs and check everything. Then it all was placed at the venue several hours before the wedding. 3pm wedding, flowers were delivered and in place by noon or 1pm. It was our job to get in and get out before any guest even thought to arrive.

This is the second wedding in a row where the handling of the flowers has made me cringe! If you have to go to all the trouble and expense of renting a refrigerated truck (last time), or if you have to try to work in a hotel room with unskilled helpers (this time), maybe it's time to just hire a local florist. Support local businesses!

    1. Very interesting, thanks. I knew the part about the cutting at an angle under water.

  15. After all that wit, John David was just plain funny!

  16. He needs a full medical work up. Barfing is not a usual symptom of allergies. Gastrointestinal workup first. Mouth to pooper.

    1. I think he said he was scoped (upper GI), and they determined it was eosinophilic esophagitis. That's an allergic response in a part of the body that doesn't usually react to allergens. My cat had something similar, and it can make you regurgitate. My cat also lost a few pounds while he was at his worst. You have to work with an allergist and a gastro doc to help this condition. My cat is now on steroids and is doing much better.

    2. Yes but that was for a cat. Not a humanbeing with soon go be 2 children

  17. I've come to realize that John is quite a jokester in the family! Gotta have one in the family! :) Love it!
