Tonight: House Flipping and Duggar Celebrations

"I've learned that if she doesn't know how to do it, you can just show her real quick, and she can figure it out and become better than you at it."
-Austin Forsyth

It's Monday, which means a new episode of Counting On airs tonight at 9pm ET/8pm CT on TLC, followed by a special featuring cousin Amy Duggar King and husband Dillon King. Each show will be one hour long. Visit our Showtimes page for episode summaries, and check out the promo video below. We will post a recap of both shows after they air.

  3. They seem really sweet!

  4. I think the house flipping skills will serve them well! So fun that he's teaching her things so that they can do this together!

  5. I love how he said that once she learns how to do something that she is better at it than he is. That was so kind of him to say!

  6. They seem to get along really well together! She seems to act way older than 19. I am so happy for them to be married.

    1. I agree. Joy seems so much older than 19! They seem like they will have a great marriage.

  7. So he 'learned' a woman is capable of learning and excelling if she is given the opportunity to learn. What a novel idea! It's very telling that this is a big revelation for Austin.

    1. No, Female Engineer, that's actually not what he said.

      Delete
    2. No, if you read his quotation carefully you see that the thing he learned about her was that she is a quick learner, not just that she learns if you teach her. Your take puts a completely different (and negative) spin on it.

    3. Don't make this a sexist thing, my goodness. He's flipped 5 houses, it's obvious he'd know more about saws than she. He was stating that she's a very quick learner, and she actually does a better job than him on projects once she gets the hang of it.

    4. Someone's going to have nine fingers by the time that house is finished.......

      Delete
    5. But why is that something he "learned"? Shouldn't her learning skills just be the norm??? Would he say that about one of her brothers? No...

      Delete
    6. Good grief.. that not what he said. And clearly by the way he gazes at her- not what he meant. Curious as to why your so critical. If you view the Duggars so negatively- why waste your time watching them just to be hateful. Is your remote broke? Or just no life in general?

    7. I agree with Female Engineer. Would he had said it about a guy in that way? We see her acting unsure of herself, appealing to Austen, and Austen, with this "isn"t the little woman cute" look at his face", patiently explains.

    8. To "Female Engineer" -- your name says it all. I'm just a doctor. Not a female doctor. My cousin is a mechanical engineer. Not a female engineer. We are just happy people. You obviously feel the need to shove the "female" part down everyone's throat. Good for you for passing your course. Now stop being a man-basher and just be happy in your life :)

    9. Well, Austin did list "hard worker" as the first thing he loved about Joy. ;) I'm surprised that he seemed surprised that he could just show her real quick and she'd catch on. Did he think she'd be a slow study? Didn't they grow up together and wasn't he always around with her brothers? Why would Austin be surprised by that? Didn't Joy grow up always working on projects on and around the Duggar house/property? Wasn't she always billed as the tomboy of the family? I'm hoping that was a backwards compliment awkwardly expressed. :/

  8. Isn't US Weekly the magazine the girls are suing? Yet, they continue to use them for promotion, as do you?

    1. No, InTouch magazine is the one they're suing.

    2. InTouch, US, People............... same rag different title

  9. They are so sweet and cute. I think they should get all the boys to help them flip houses. Step away from the Counting On - etc and have a show called "Forsyth Flipping" This would get a lot of the boys away from the house and Jana likes fixing things as well.

    1. There are more than enough house flipping shows on TV as it is. I'm leery of house flippers anyway. Around here, there have been major structural problems found in flipped houses, and the person responsible is long gone. Some houses should never have passed inspections, and home buyers have been stuck with the repair bills on top of the price of the house. It's not always a good business or a good thing to do to a house.

  10. Why is cousin Amy back on TV? If this "special" is anything like her last TV appearances (that awful couples therapy show), no thanks.

    1. Can't imagine a show with her and her hubby. She loves being in front of the camera.

      Delete
    2. Yup, nothing "special" about Amy. Maybe she should stop riding Duggar coat tails

      Delete
    3. She used a curse word that was bleeped out. So I'm not so sure it's going to be a "family friendly" show. Such a contrast from "Counting On".

      Delete
    4. You may have to exhibit some self control and show some restraints. Don't click on her picture/updates that appear on the blog and don't watch the show.

      Delete
    5. I could only watch a few minutes of the show. Amy does not speak respectfully to her husband at all. So sad!

      Delete
    6. Amy shouldn't even be on the Duggar blog. The restraint should be in posting about her, not reading about her. Are any other cousins on either side ever talked about or featured here or on the show? No.

      Delete
    7. I thought Amy was sweet back when "19 Kids" was on. Sad that she went on that boot camp show. I heard she was trying to get into country music.

      Delete
    8. Anon @ 5:34 She does like being in front of the camera but so does her uncle and cousins. It must be a genetic trait so at least she came by it honestly.

      Delete
    9. I will not watch Amy. Why ae you putting info about her on a Christian family blog> NO THANKS>

  11. I'm happy to see Joy learning these skills, I just wish she didn't use the word,"ain't." It sounds so uneducated.

  12. Looking forward to tonight's show but have absolutely zero interest in watching Amy king and her husband.

    1. I find peoples intolerance towards Amy very strange. She took part in a TV show you didn't like, you all forgave Josh for much worse. Maybe some fans need to check themselves. Amy is still a part of the family and if you don't like it don't watch it, sound familiar?

      Delete
    2. Intolerance? So now if someone has "zero interest in watching" someone on TV, with no hatred or animosity expressed, that alone is the new PC definition of "intolerance"? WOW.

      Delete
    3. It's not just the show they appeared on. Amy is just completely different from her Duggar relatives. It was kind of fun to see her when she was younger, but she just doesn't seem to be that nice of a person. I turned it off after about 15 minutes.

  13. Did they move into a house they flipped?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I wondered that too! How neat would that be to live together in that 5th house they flipped.
      Angie

      Delete
    2. I'm wondering that also.

      Delete
    3. Well, flipping is buying a house, fixing it up and then selling it, so you can't really live in a house you've flipped unless you move in with the people who bought it from you. ;) But it would be great if they lived in a house they redid themselves - very meaningful.

      Delete
    4. I think you knew what they meant..

  14. I would love to see them in a house they flip. That would be awesome. Get it on your own dime and time and not handed to you by family. Love these two. Very self sufficient is what I see. Same for Jinger n Jeremy.WTG GIRLS...great start!!!

    1. and the others too, goodness people, just because it hasn't been shown in screaming headlines doesn't mean it hasn't been talked about, Josh had his car business, John David has his own business and bought a house, they have all helped the family rental property business, they have all earned in some way or another.

    1. She has matured and the show isn't scripted. I think TLC road on that coat tail for reality drama and ratings at the cost of a young woman trying to find herself while being rebellious

  18. Is hilarious how Joy reacts when Austin touches her hand. It's also kinda sad since he wasn't being romantic but helping her place her hand more safely. I wish the Duggar parents would relax their courting rules for their children. They could still have boundaries to protect purity while still feeling free to get to know each other. It seems like the girls are so nervous and concerned with not breaking a rule that they're stuff and scared. But, it's their family and their choice... thank goodness not everyone has to abide by it. These two are cute, though. It will be interesting to see their relationship unfold...

    ReplyDelete
  19. Since Joy has been part of a successful TV show for ten years did Jimbob and Michelle giver her a piece of the TV fortune that she earned by starring in their TV show?

Since you all know them personally can you find out how they divide up the money that they have ALL earned? The kids should have gotten paid for the work they did in TV. The Gosselin kids parents were required by Pennsylvania to put away a paycheck for their kids. If the law doesn't require it and Jimbob has kept all of that TV show money he is in the wrong. Those kids have been working since the first season of the show.

  21. TLC must be reaching...To give Amy a show after the horrible-ness of that married show she was on.Lol, i bet it gets very low ratings. I wonder if thats the reason why she wasnt a bridesmaids in Joys wedding as they were so close.

    1. That other show was pure drama and certainly not interesting but I took the time to see what the new one was about. I enjoyed the episode entirely. It was real, honesty and improvements were reflected on the efforts made.
Amy will never be like the Duggar girls but I don't see anything wrong with that.
She has matured and focused on her marriage.

  23. I am liking Austin more as his personality is coming out with each show. I am concerned that safety glasses weren't used with the saw- major no-no!! Please tell Joy ain't sounds bad when used frequently. Cute couple though.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I have to agree; the lack of safety glasses was incredibly dangerous. Sawdust in the eyes would be extremely uncomfortable but a piece of wood could be diasterous. I sure hope Joy had a pair of work boots on and not the usual flip flops.

      Delete
    2. She had glasses on when banging in the wood pieces on the floor.

      Delete
    3. Not to mention if a sliver of metal in a saw blade sheared off. My dad is fanatical about wearing safety glasses-it's no fun having metal shavings extracted from your eye-not to mention it's a serious risk if you ever need an MRI and are unaware you had a minute sliver/shaving embedded in your eyeball because it was too minute to cause pain. 0_0

  25. Joy Anna is the right person for Austin. And, Austin is the the kind of guy Jana is waiting for. A man who works with his hands.

  26. So natural! I totally believe them, because lately with the Duggars everything looks so scripted and rehearsed, that it's really hard to believe them to the point of frustration. But these two look GREAT together. Keep it real Austin and Joy, you're great so far🤗💕

    Many blessings to you two!🙏🌹

  27. I cannot wait to see Austin and Joy flip houses together. I am an HGTV fan, of a few shows, and it will be awesome to see work like this on Counting On, hopefully, more often than not. They are cute and I love that Joy will get to learn (more) about how to flip houses such a cool and awesome experience. (I know she knows some things from her dad and helping out when she was younger but now this is her husband so she will hopefully be much more involved.)
