'2 Henrys'

Jill and Derick Dillard have not yet released a video message announcing Samuel Scott Dillard's birth, but elated aunt Jessa Seewald has. In the clip below, she shares Israel Dillard's reaction to seeing his little brother for the first time.

  1. Jessa is the first to say mom and baby are doing well, I hope it is true. It is very odd that they still havn't released a statement or more pictures than the few they have. I think until they actually address this themselves the public are going to continue to speculate and rumors are going to keep swirling.

    2. To me "doing well" just means not getting worse. It means alive but not super.

    3. "Doing well" means alive, not getting worse? That's a new one!

  2. Jill and Derick weren't at the reunion episode last night, the birth announcement from Jessa in last night's episode.
I'm starting to be scared by the fact that we haven't heard from Jill since she gave birth. Samuel seemed to have a difficult birth and we have no information regarding the birth except that she had a c-section... I'm worried ...

    1. They weren't there because it was filmed just before she gave birth and she couldn't travel

      Delete
    2. But she came home from El Salvador just 3-4 weeks before....

    3. Travel ? You know where the reunion was filmed ? Daphne said she had to go back to NY so I thought they where in Arkansas

  3. We are getting everything but the real thing. I would like to see an actual video clip from Jill and Derick themselves on how Jill and Samuel are doing, pleeeeeeeease!

  4. See. It wasn't so painful making a short announcement and telling everyone "mom and baby are doing well". Finally.

  5. Why didn't Jill or Derick post their own announcement of their own child? Jill didn't announce the birth of Henry. And still no good pictures of Jill and Samuel,( the one posted with mom can't see baby's face,) Cathy and Samuel or Israel and Samuel. It's obvious the family is avoiding saying Jill's name too much. Hoping everyone is healing well!

  6. Why the sudden Dillard privacy lockdown? Is something wrong with Jill or that baby? Have they had a security scare? Usually baby news is shouted from the rooftops on every social media platform. This (semi) silence is extremely unusual.

  7. Doesn't seem right that Jessa would post a video before the new mom does it.

  8. Very strange that they had Jessa doing the talking this time and not Derick and/or Jill.

  9. O.k., I wasn't too overly worried about Jill until this video. If Jessa is "announcing" Samuel, not Derick (or Derick with Israel) or even Michelle (or Michelle and Jim Bob together), something is up. With this video, we've now gone from concerned to worried. I know she's recovering from a C-Section (been there, done that), but Derick isn't. That Jessa is doing it means there's a reason Derick isn't. While I'm sure he's busy taking care of Israel and helping Jill, with 99% of her family within minutes of her, having Jessa (the step in and take charge of the situation person) do this video instead of Derick is not a good sign. That Jessa's doing it and not Michelle (or even Michelle and Jim Bob) makes me even more worried...especially since not one of them has said anything even remotely like "Mom and baby are both doing well.". Praying more so here. I really hope and pray Jill and Samuel are doing alright.

    1. It was filmed the day of the birth, so they might have thought things were "going well" at that point, and Derick might have been at the hospital. But now (2 wks. later), still no sign of Jill, Derick, or the baby. That is what's troubling.

There must be a reason for it, and without any actual news from the family (not some generic "all's well"), we can only wonder.

    2. Mayyyybe they just want time to rest and recuperate after the long birth? I'm not going to get all worried about it unless they tell us something bad actually happened, and I suggest y'all do the same.

  10. Jill, looks awful! You can tell she had a hard and long labor! Because of this it drained her completely and to save her and the baby's life she had to have a C section! Jill is to small to have babies normally. My daughter is the same way and after 38 hours of exhausting labor she had to have a C section to save her and the baby's life!! It took her weeks to get back on her feet! She had two more children and they both were automatically C sections!! It's better to be alive than dead. The public won't think anything bad because Jill has her babies in a hospital or any of the duggar family!! The Lord gave us common sense, we need to use it!! The Lord gave us doctors, hospitals and medicine to save our lives! Jill and the baby are very lucky to be alive!! Mothers aren't suppose to have more than 3 C sections because of health and death issues! It's their choice I know to take that chance after 3 C sections.

    1. I agree. I hope she didn't labor at home. I work in L&D and laboring at home after the first c section is very dangerous. I'm praying for her

  12. Jessa is very pretty. However, the long hair is no longer flattering to the older sisters and definitely women approaching or over 50, even over 30. Jessa and the other older girls would look much prettier if they cut off at least some of the hair. The weight of the long hair pulls the hair down so there is no volume at the top. Hope Jessa reads this. She is very pretty, but the long hair is just weighting it down around her head, on top and around her face.

    1. Jessa is not even close to approaching 50... or even 30!!! She's 24... let her have long hair if that's what she prefers... and it happens to be a magnificent head of hair!

      Delete
    2. I agree. The long hair drags them down and really detracts from their pretty faces.

      Delete
    3. At rock bottom, 12 inches could be cut off all of them. This unusually long hair for the sake of long hair is not flattering.

    4. I think her hair is absolutely gorgeous!

    5. July 18 @ 9:22PM, you sound like a person I used to work with in the past who would always say that and she had a full head of gray hair and very short almost manly looking haircut. I can't help but think she was very jealous of the younger women or even women her age who had long beautiful hair. I think long hair is beautiful no matter how old you are! My mother is 71 and has beautiful thick long hair. I used to always play with and smell her hair when I was growing up, it was like a "blankie" to me to be nestled in mom's hair.

      Delete
    6. She has beautiful hair! It is up to her how long she wears her hair. My opinion is all women should have long hair. Maybe I think all of you should grow yours out more. Why not just let people do what they want with their hair without commenting? Do y'all want people telling you what to do with your hair?

      Delete
    7. Women like you is why I hate going to women's groups. I'm 34 and have long hair and I can't even walk through the grocery store without getting hit on.

      Delete
    8. Your mom is 71 with long hair? YIKES.

      Delete
    9. Everyone should be able to wear their hair as they please. The Duchess of Cambridge recently got her her cut into a long bob style, the Duggar girls would suit a style like that, still long enough so they can wear it up, and enough length to sit pretty at their shoulders.

  13. So excited and happy for Jill, Derick and Israel for the arrival of baby Samuel. I can't help but to feel a little concerned about the refrained announcements and videos from them both, and are hoping and praying everything is ok with both Jill and Samuel xx

  14. Hopefully Jill is getting some rest and healing after the delivery.
Good to see priority is family and not the viewer's.
Derrick did his part after the delivery and that was sufficient.

  15. Is Jill ok? They are being strangely quiet, usually the Duggars like to give us all the details right away

    ReplyDelete
  16. Wow. A strange distraction video from Jessa. Obviously something is being kept quiet...

    ReplyDelete
  17. It's an announcement; it's a thank you to fans; it's a direct message to Derick and Jill... it's a Duggar internet video!

    ReplyDelete
  18. very sweet! but it is a bit weird that neither Derick nor Jill have yet made a public announcement.....it is pretty quiet this time. did something go wrong? Is maybe Jill or baby Samuel not as healthy as they want people to think? It sure sounds like this.

  21. My thoughts keep going to the idea that maybe Jill had to have a an emergency hysterectomy ... With the family's life and beliefs,,,
of having one baby after another..... this would be a hard blow for her
and the whole family.....she had pictures right after her first c-section ,,
iv-lines , makeup and all.....yea ,c-section is surgery but in a few days you're up and around.....I've been there twice....
Loving concern goes out to her,,a hug and a prayer.....❣💚❣

I really hope Jill is ok! 💟

    2. I hope not but my thought as well. I think such a thing would send her into a deep depression and she wouldn't want to talk about it for a vrry long time.

      Delete
    3. Oh gosh, never thought of that. Will be praying. That would be hard for any woman, but especially so for one of the Duggar girls, I would imagine.

    4. I really hope not but I have had the same concern. My prayers and good wishes go out to them. Hope we do hear from Derrick and Jill soon.

  22. This announcement/congrats from Jessa was probably supposed to placate fans, it has actually managed to make things worse as it is out of character for the families mo.

    1. Agreed. Because its such a noticeable departure from how the Duggars do/have always done births and baby announcements, viewers are worried. Having said that, I think the vast majority aren't being demanding or nosy; they're genuinely concerned for Jill and Samuel. Even though some may not necessarily be "Duggar fans" per se (completely agree with the Duggar lifestyle/theology or maybe the way they've handled some things), I doubt any wish harm or ill for Jill or little Samuel. It would be far better PR for the Duggar family to just level with the viewing public one way or the other. If she's simply recovering from the C-Section, the way they've handled this, many fans are going to feel emotionally jerked around and it could negatively impact ratings as well as future support for Jill & Derick's missionary ventures. If she's needing some support, sharing that with the viewers (within bounds), would actually allow the viewers to show their support for her as well. That outcome wouldn't harm viewer support or ratings either. I agree that it's first and foremost, their life. I think it's very touching though that so many care about her and little Samuel.

  23. It is strange that this was filmed the day baby Samuel was born because Jessa said he was "born today" but this clip was just released. Strange. Why the delay?

    1. Exactly ! Why now !

    2. Agree that its very strange, especially since Jill labored for so long. You would think TLC would have a crew at the ready as they typically film the Duggar girls giving birth.

Agree. The timing is off on JessAs video.

  24. Let's keep praying for her & try to think good thoughts, but MOST of us agree - this is very unlike DUGGAR BEHAVIOR. Jill & Derick not being in the "after show" also gives reason for worry - Jill may have been placed on bed rest - which is caused by many things including high blood pressure.

PLEASE - someone at least tell us SHE is OK & baby too.

    1. The after show was filmed before the baby came. Funny that they couldn't do the show, but it was OK to fly back from El Salvador a month before that.

  25. Israel just went back home from Grandma Cathy's house, so is that a good sign?

Jill must have gone through the wringer this time, and maybe the baby, too. Quite unlike the entire family not to be posting any pictures.

  26. Ellie I mean no disrespect just genuinely wondering why you don't engage more with your readers. Isn't that part of running a blog? There are so many questions and comments that you could possibly set some light on for the readers. Obviously you have permission to post for the Duggars or you wouldn't have this blog. I'm not asking for every detail but so much speculation is going it would be helpful and kind to the Duggars to be more involved with your readers and not just with TLC answers. Thank you

  27. Jessa's delivery is a little flat in the video, just the facts, not at all as energetic and enthused as she normally is. She also relays nothing about the interaction between Jill and Derick during the birth or right after, nor how either of them interacted with Samuel during or immediately after. It's like Jill and Derick weren't there, just Jess and Israel. The way Jessa talks it sounds like they might have been viewing Samuel through the nursery window, not face to face.

  28. Jessa your hair is very beautiful, don't listen, they are just jealous, don't change, I like the person who u have become, u have 2 of most wonderful kiddos going, every time someone puts U down, just say to yourself, they are jealous, U also have wonderful lips, some woman have to pay lots of money, but yours are natural, see they are JEALOUS, so take it with a grain of salt, and GOD BLESS U AND BEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
