Duggar-Sized Tree Fort

When John-David Duggar and Joseph Duggar hear that Jana Duggar is hoping to build an outdoor playhouse for the kids, they come up with an even better idea. What begins as a simple structure sitting on the ground quickly turns into a Duggar-sized tree fort. Take a look at these two videos:

  1. That was so staged. Jana's idea to build a treehouse indeed...when they already filmed it last year & knew full well that the boys were going to be involved, that heavy equipment was going to be involved, and that the boys were going to be shown building some huge structure that TLC would foot the bill for (didn't the lumber yard guy say it was over $3000?). It's like they couldn't think of a story line for Jana that didn't involve taking care of kids or talking about how she's not going to settle for the first man that comes along. Please. Give the viewers more credit than that. We can see what's going on there.

    1. This season is very staged..think they're trying too hard go win over viewers

    2. Let's all be kind. I don't care if it was staged I don't care if someone else built. I don't care who's idea it was. This is a good family and I'm happy they are coming back viewers like me and probably more than you think are HAPPY they are back. This is about the Jessa, Jill and the older kids. Sit back look at the good and if you can't don't watch.

    3. Every reality show has some things staged, and if you're going to be negative about them why are you even watching it if you don't like it?

    4. It's OK to have a negative opinion about something you were hoping to like and enjoy. This person just expressed their disappointment. Nothing wrong with that. People are entitled to their opinions. The Duggars certainly have personal opinions that they have expressed on the show.

    5. These shows are very scripted. If Jana and Jinger want to stay at home and wait for the right guy to come along, it's their choice but what I don't like is tlc coming up with this scripted story line about the adult kids. Seems like they somehow feel uncomfortable with the life they've chosen. Time to decide what they want and stick with it.

    6. TLC did not foot the bill for the treehouse.
These story's are not scripted. Jana decided she wanted to do something nice for the little kids.

    7. What show are you watching, 5:50 Anon? There have been a lot of things staged for the show over the years. "Reactions" to pregnancies or moves or other news, all of which were known beforehand. Events staged & filmed 2-3-4 times til TLC thinks they've gotten it "right." There have been many reports from people who witnessed the filming and saw what happened first-hand. It's not what it looks like on the final TV version.

TLC has definitely arranged for the Duggars to receive (at TLC's expense or through donations) the things that are necessary for filming. That was disclosed years ago, when the house was being built, and when they had that big yard sale, for example.

It's not judgement - it's the truth about what goes on behind the scenes.

  2. Where can I watch all of the last episode? For the first two Counting On episode, TLC streamed them the next day. Can you help? Thanks!

  3. Does anyone else think it is strange the Jim Bob and Michelle are so absent????? It's like Jana is the mom of this house or something---it is just weird to me. Are they not allowed to be on the show or something....where is Michelle at least? I mean, she is a stay at home Mom right? Isn't she supposed to be staying around with her kids spending time with them, serving them, teaching them? I mean the little ones, not the big ones--I get that they are getting older and more independent, but she still has all these school aged children around.
I personally like the Bates better--they are just more relaxed, fun, and seem normal. Not so set up and formal all the time--I wish that there show was the really popular one. I love how involved Kelly and Gil seem to be in their children's lives and how much fun they have. GIve me the Bates!!!

    1. This Jessa and Jill show is supposed to be about the adult Duggar's only. So, the parents and little kids are really only in the background.

    2. where can I find the Bates Family ?

      Delete
    3. The Bates are more relaxed because they're more modern, I think. Still very religious people with similar habits, but they seem freer. What I mean by that is that the Duggar's life seems to be regulated by very strict rules in every single aspect, even the less important detail. The Bates seem more spontaneous, it doesn't seem like they have to adhere to those rigid rules all the time.
I hope this comment gets published, because I don't mean it in a bad way, I'm just observing and find it very interesting.

  5. I found the last episode to be very scripted , showing Jana as an electrician , putting in new lites or building a tree house. The words came out of her mouth but the work was done by everyone else

  6. What a good idea to have a family project building a play house. It is nice to see them all working together sharing ideas and developing a plan to actualize the vision. Without a vision people perish, that is something I can take away for my own life. Important to add the 'visions' should also line up with God's word. Jesus said that the word of God is spirit and life. Jana is a Shepherd there.

  7. None of the Duggars have an engineering or architect degree--so who were the people TLC hired to actually build that tree house?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. People don't have to have a degree to do engineering or architec. Some people learn on their own. I can change a battery in a car, change tires, change oil, etc. I'm not a mechanic. OH by the way I am a female. I can also unclog a sink, bathtub, I can even take out an old toilet and put in a new one... FYI I'M also not a plummer. Put your mind to it and you can do it.

    2. That treehouse looks big enough to need a building permit.

    3. Caring: there are safety rules to respect, so it's not so immediate. Also, in some States to do some building work you need a permission from the authorities.

    4. We bought a house that we learned later on was a product of a multitude of do-it-yourself projects... plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, etc. We had to have it all redone by licensed professionals. We learned our lesson.
I am curious to know if any of the Duggars are licensed to do any of the home remodeling work on the houses they buy and flip.

      Delete
    5. You actually DO have to have a license to do architecture, engineering and plumbing. You need lots of education for these jobs.

      Delete
    6. You don't need a license if you're just doing it for yourself - as in the case of the playhouse. It's only if you're doing it for someone else or plan to sell the house that you need to be licensed. So in the Duggar's flip business, I wouldn't be surprised if some of them have licenses. Otherwise they just have paid professionals do it.

    7. The treehouse builder shown last night is a professional house builder in Arkansas, a former employee of the Jim Holt campaign, and a friend of the Duggars. If the Holt name sounds familiar, there was a Holt daughter who Josh had his eye on before Anna.

  9. I love Jana, and how she is waiting for marriage and for the right one to come along. But what if the right one is never going to come because that's not God's plan. This is just me, but I really wish she would go to college, or a technical school to get some higher education. Her twin, John, went and got some skills so that he could make a living wage. He went to Pilot training, and Constable/Sheriff training. She got doula training, but not so sure she is still doing that since Jill left to do other things. I would love for her to be able to stand on her own two feet financially. She's 26 years old for goodness sakes!

    1. Dear Jana,
Your time to fly the nest is well overdue. Of course God will help you find the right man, however I believe sitting and waiting is not what He expects you to do.. You have to help yourself first, go out into the world, prove to yourself that you are capable of learning a career and looking after yourself financially. The rest will follow. Our duty as parents is to make sure that our sons and daughters can survive financially on their own outside the family home.Be an example to your other sisters. If a husband falls ill or is made redundant, you, as a wife must be able to take over the financial security during that time, but if you are not qualified for any job, what then? You owe this security to your future children and husband. No one knows what life has in store for us.....so be prepared.

    2. How can God have a plan for us if He gives us free choice? I believe we are subject to time, chance, and our own ability to recognize opportunity and take it.

    3. You do realize that the show doesn't show absolutely everything right? It's edited and it only shows fragments of their lives. Why should she go to school just because YOU think she should? School isn't everything! I know plenty of people that have achieved degrees but instead they're doing what they love. Why can't you just be accepting of her choices? She's not telling you what to do? Leave her alone, she's finding her way and had a very strong set of parents to back her up and lead her, guide her and walk beside her. Just because the world throws their children out as soon as they can, 18, doesn't make it okay and it doesn't work for everyone. She makes her own choices, after all she's 26 years old for goodness sakes!

  11. Please stop watching if you hate them. Sorry that so many people have issues witb the family I am sure its just due jealousy many people come from messed up families and seeing good people blow their little minds. Turn to your 1st family the Kardashian sure you all agree with them.

    1. Whether you are the K crew or the Duggars, when you purposefully place yourself and your children in the public eye, you are going to be targets for criticism. Some of it will be outrageous, yet often times it is legitimate questioning of a family who makes no bones about their religious beliefs being their sure fire way to salvation. The Duggars are making a great deal of money with their media exposure. If the naysayers are too much for them, they can always remove themselves from the spotlight and go back to living private lives.

    2. I love watching the Kardashians.

    3. The Kardashians are not ashamed of who they are. Not that I agree with their lifestyle, but they seem real. Duggars, don't be ashamed of what you believe. Don't let TLC script your shows. Be real.

    4. Just because they aren't ashamed doesn't mean they shouldn't be. And real doesn't mean right.

  13. I am sure that Jana gets paid well for appearing on the show, but it is not normal to have adult kids continue living at home, unless there were circumstances preventing them to be on their own. Most kids can't wait to leave home to be independent from their parents. It would be nice to see one of the girls leave the nest and follow their dreams. I would love to see Jinger break out on her own; she's my favorite.

    1. What do you mean not normal? show me a part in the bible that says that children must leave home once they hit adulthood? Yes I agree for all of them to still be at home like that is unusual. But there are lots of people I know live with parents due to the fact that you cannot even afford to buy a house on your home in my area north London, UK.

Now if they are working and are savvy with saving their money, when they leave home, they would have loads of money saved up to buy their property which will eliminate them from having to take out a mortgage or perhaps even a big one. The Duggars do not believe in debt, so it makes sense.

  14. Why are they even building something like this? There are only 3 kids left under 10 years old. The last of the boys is nearly a teenager & the rest of the boys are teens already. I doubt they ever intended to build a "playhouse" in the first place. It came out more like an outdoor gazebo, so why don't they just call it that?

  17. I have lost so much respect for TLC. I can't believe how they manipulate the people in every reality show they air. They might as well give each person a script and just call it another network fictional show. I think TLC started out with good intentions - a glimpse into the lives of folks who live a lifestyle different from the average, whether it be large families, or families of little people. But then TLC discovered that certain issues and characters drew bigger audiences, i.e., more money. TLC then started focusing on staging the action to empasize the dramatic. It's not just the Duggars. It's all their shows. Let's show TLC we aren't naive viewers. Let's demand that they return to their original stanards that made us fall in love with characters like the Duggars in the first place.

    1. I agree. TLC has let it get out of control. Research some of the statements that have come out of the network & its head recently, and you can see their current stance. It's certainly not about improving the minds of its viewers. Remember when they first began and emphasized learning?

      Delete
    2. TLC is absolutely NOT the learning channel anymore. I wish the Duggars would go on paper view. I cannot stand that network anymore.

  18. This just popped into my mind! Jana and John I'm sure both love kids, but maybe they don't want that many kids of their own, so they're both going to wait even longer before they start courting someone so that the child bearing years are not as lengthy since they don't believe in birth control.
