Josh Completes Rehab Program

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar posted a statement to their website regarding Josh Duggar. We have included it below for your convenience.

Josh has completed his residential rehabilitation program. We are so thankful for everyone who worked with Josh in this program. It was a crucial first step in recovery and healing for Josh. Josh has now returned to Arkansas, where he will continue professional counseling and focus on rebuilding relationships with his family. We look to God for help and guidance and place all of our trust in Him. We are forever grateful for the love and prayers offered by so many and hope you will continue to pray in the days ahead.

  6. God bless You all! If anyone family can bounce back from this situation, youra can. Remember that we all make mistakes and fall short of God's glory. Though we manage to hurt people along the way, God is still God, and healing is still made available for everyone through Him.

Please know that my heartfelt love and prayers are with you guys. Your family is truly an inspiration, and I am thankful that you all have been very "real" and "open" about sharing the ins and outs, good and bad, with your fans/friends/viewers. I wish you all a season of love and restoration. May God renew what was damaged and bless what has been broken, as only He can.

Love and Blessings to all of the Duggars!

    Your friend/Sister in Christ,
    Ashley

  10. Praise the LORD for his faithfulness and ability to restore the time that has been lost and to complete the healing in everyone's hearts, Our great Jehoval-Rophi. We continue to lift up your precious family in prayer, also praising God for your families testimony. Trusting God to continue to do an amazing work.

  16. As a fan of your show for many years, and mother to a big family as well, well not AS big, we only have six children, we just have a lot of respect for how the family and Anna handled this matter, with honesty, transparency, and no sugar coating. We pray Josh will be healed of this disease, and Anna and your families with be healed of the emotional wounds caused. You are all in our prayers.

  19. Rehabilitation from an addiction is a lifelong process. Josh is blessed with a patient family who can show unconditional and tough love. Josh has God who will not forsake or give up. Josh needs to be worthy of these wonderful journey partners. He needs to show love and express faith with actions not just words. He needs to be strong for his wife and children. And he needs to live his life with a huge portion of humility. Josh, you and your amazing family have my hope and prayers.

  21. I don't mean any disrespect or I'll intent but on the rehab facility's website josh attented. It specifally states there are no Liscensed medical staff or Liscensed professionals. How can josh recieve professional therapy if no one in that facility is qualified to do so. Will he continue faith based rehabilitation or will he be provided with Liscensed professionals ( ie non physical labour Christian camp)
I do hope Anna and the rest of the family receive the guidance and counsel they need during this time. I am a firm believer that everyone deserves a second chance in life and I am very encouraged by the Duggar parents as they are embracing thier first born child despite his flaws, sins, past behavior. Parents never stop loving thier children no matter how much pain and grief they may cause. It's refreshing to see this family acknowledge that even though one of thier own strayed from the straight and narrow path, they are still showing him unconditional love.

    2. Maybe he saw therapists outside the faculty it could have been like a collaboration. And the statement says he will continue professional counseling suggesting he has been taking part in counsel already. I hope that Anna her kids and everyone else heals as well. And the Duggars are definitely a encouragement.

    3. Prayer changes things, but come on. If you have cancer, you seek qualified medical attention, you don't just try to pray it away. Same with mental and emotional sicknesses -- you need qualified help.

      Delete
    4. Hm. Interesting. If they are not licensed then who diagnosed him as being a sex addict? Well if he is an addict, then it's good that he will continue getting treatment. Prayers with the family.

  23. I pray for continued healing for your family. I know that you have been on the receiving end of some very cruel & harsh comments. Although I DO NOT condone Josh's behavior, it's not my job to judge & condemn him. I pray that he truly is sorry this time & he can become the faithful Christian man that Anna, his children & his entire family deserve to have in their lives. I pray that the public can begin to forgive him but if the can't......they keep their negativity to themselves. Your family still is near & dear to my heart & I've enjoyed watching you over the years. Peace & prayers to all of you.

  37. I have nothing but positive encouragement towards Josh...for him to continue to work with counselors and those who are ministering to him at this, which I am sure has been the lowest point in his life. I pray that he continues to cling to Jesus, the One and only Source of strength and that he will be able to rebuild his broken life and relationships. There is no one living on this earth that cannot be healed and forgiven. God bless you, Josh. I will continue to pray for you, Anna and the rest of your family. God is good!

  41. We as Christian's try our hardest to bring our children up right and pray that when they are on their own, they will continue to do right by God. Josh is not the first Christian or man to cheat on his wife and I am positive he is not the last. We have all made stupid mistakes and we all have asked for forgiveness. For me, the only people Josh has to ask forgiveness from is God, Anna, his children and his family. However, with that said, I forgive him. He doesnt need it, but I want Josh to understand that there are people out there that still love him and care about him. The Duggars have helped me become a better person and for that I thank you. Anna herself has shown me so much. I have so so much respect for her. Love you all.

  54. No one who has never experienced addiction of any kind has any idea how pernicious and severe this particular addiction is. Millions of men (mostly men, I think) have given into the lure Josh gave into, and find it impossible to ever get out again.
I pray people who care about and love their fellow mankind will be praying with near-desperation for Josh and all others whose lives are being destroyed by this, as much, or in some ways even more than alcohol, cigarettes and drugs, due to its ability to destroy the human soul with depravity beyond what most of can imagine, and may God spare us from even ever knowing. JUST PRAY!!!

    1. Felicity I agree with what you said and also hope no one is beyond help. I researched the legality of this addiction a little and found out that individual states have different laws and that the communities actually have a say so in whats allowed. Christians (myself included) should be screaming the loudest to keep this from destroying even one more life. It would be a hard battle but I know God would be behind us all the way.

  65. I wish Josh & Anna the best. All marriages have ups & downs, some worse then others. If their family wasn't on tv then no one would give it a 2nd thought but since they are it's a big deal. I'm glad they will be back on tv because let's face it, who's world is perfect? If would be great if it was but that isn't the way it is. This is just an example of that & that if you really want something in your live no matter what it is you have to work at it daily & have faith. I will end this with a little note to Anna, you are one of the strongest woman I have seen.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I'm sorry, but there is nothing normal about this scenario. Either Josh should speak for himself or the whole family should remain quiet about it. He is a grown man. It seems that not only do they want to speak for him but they want to pull him back into the public. Leave him alone and let him figure out his own life for himself. JOSH IS AN ADULT.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Adults need guidance too. And the best guidance is from those who know you the best and love you the most. And will be on their knees for you.

It's silly to think he should rely on just strangers while on this path to recovery. His family is strong and can help him in a huge way.

But since most of our world has no idea of a strong knit family anymore (my parents divorced) it's hard to understand this amazing concept.

      Delete
  67. Leave him alone already!

    ReplyDelete
  68. He will always have horrible self-inflicted scars. He will come across situations that make him unhappy, and be one step away from falling into the same old behaviors. How will he ever go back to his rigid, expected lifestyle, bearing all his past failures? What he did was a huge message to his parents, his wife, and his kids that he wanted out!

    ReplyDelete
  69. What would it take, I wonder, for Anna to leave Josh?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. God bless her and give her strength. Thank God she isn't quick to "give up" on her marriage like too many Americans are!

      Delete
    2. No one knows what Anna's breaking point will be. Josh publically humiliated her, destroyed her confidence, and treated her so poorly she has to be so severely scared. Not sure if her scars can heal, time will tell. I personally stayed with my cheating spouse and forgave him once, twice, thrice, up to fifteen times. When I finally got out I was so severely destroyed by the love (or lack of it) it was next to impossible to deeply love again. Hope Anna fares better. Single parenthood is extremely difficult.

  70. I've been praying for your family for a long time. Y'all are such an encouragement to me and have been a blessing even in your difficult times. The Lord has opened my eyes on forgiveness and how sin can start with such a secret place but when it's not stopped soon and goes public people become so condemning and judgemental of others yet don't see the log in their own eye. God is blessing you thru all this, the bad and the good! You're family is an inspiration to me and so many more! God bless!

  71. As a wife who has experienced this first hand, I am here to testify that God can and will redeem and restore this marriage. He will take what the enemy meant for harm and work to bring good out of this...After many prayers and deliverance, our marriage is brand new and better than ever. Where hurt was, is now forgiveness and love for my husband. He is a good man, a Godly man who i respect, trust and adore b/c of God's healing and redemption. We cast no stones but lift up prayers for Josh, Anna and your families. Love to all in Christ.

  73. He acted out multiple times, each more daring than the next, over quite a lengthy period. Six months of rehab probably can't scratch those itches. It's not just about forgiveness or building relationships now. It's more about Josh being able to control his impulses. If his life doesn't change, those impulses won't either. He's not been happy with anything he's been given in life so far. Happy people don't risk it all by doing such behaviors, or think they need to lead a double life and nobody will find out.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Well said. Of course forgiveness is given out of obedience to God's Word, but some of Josh's "mistakes" were reported only months shy of being criminal. Protection of children should be the priority--not promoting a new TV show proving how much Anna and his family have forgiven him.

      Delete
    2. I am wondering if perhaps Josh just got married too young and started having a rather large family right there after. That can be very stressful and hard on a young man. Although I think Anna is a dear lady. Has anyone thought just maybe Josh does not wish to be married?

      Delete
    3. It has absolutely nothing to do with happiness. It's an addiction, just like any other addiction.

      Delete
    4. That is NOT true!!!

Happiness has nothing to do with the sin nature.

      That's ridiculous.

      Delete
    5. Connie and Audy Old....you are incorrect. Happy people do NOT cheat on their spouses. Perhaps tempted, but they do NOT lay down in bed with another person. And please stop saying it is an addiction. The professional mental health world admits that sex addiction is 100% controversial. We are human and God created us to enjoy the opposite sex. If you are a happily married person, you do not give in. Period.

  79. Very happy to hear his therapy is not completed and just the beginning. As a former addict to pain pills after 2 yrs I still go to counseling and support groups. Glad this is the beginning of his therapy and not the end. Also, proud to hear Anna confess she is lost still as well on how to take this all in. That is completely natural and she would not be honest stating otherwise. Best of luck to Josh and Anna as they continue through this journey, but they do have each other and a large family to confide in if feeling down.

  83. Josh and Anna need to start going to a program called Celebrate Recovery and stay with it to assure he does not go back into back habits. There are many people in this group with sexual addiction problems. This groups rocks and can help anyone overcome life hurts, hangups or addictions. Highly recommend it to all. I am going and loving it. No I do not have a addiction problem but I have other issues to work on.

  86. Well they wanted to speak about Josh since a lot of people bash the entire family for the things he has done so I see why they would make a statement about him on their website.

  87. Josh is ho.e with his family and friends were he belongs. I am glad he's getting the help that he needs.

    ReplyDelete
  88. People keep saying they are thankful for Josh's progress, but the reality is no one knows if he has truly made any progress. The rehab program lasted 6 months--and that is what he did. Anna can forgive, prepare a new home, lose weight etc., but what if Josh doesn't want that? If he is not fully willing for reconciliation then I am afraid Anna is in for bigger heartache in the future.

    ReplyDelete
  89. My hope is that Anna does not take Josh's addiction to pornography personally. I have been married to a wonderful, Godly, kind, well-educated, financially responsible man for over 20 years. He still struggles with porn. I absolutely do not take in any way personal. I never feel threatened or de-valued. I never compare myself to those images. They are just that--images. They are not real, but I and our marriage is real. His sin( or mistake) is between he and the Lord--not me. I never condemn him or embarrass him. The way I see it every single one of us has an area of struggle. Most women in the Church I know sure do have a lot of "prayer chains" which are really nothing more than gossip chains. How about the number of women who are gluttons--because God's Word says to put a knife to your throat if you are given over to gluttony. My point is...we as Christians are so very quick to judge others who don't sin like we do. My best wishes for much happier days ahead for Josh and Anna.

  96. Won't be an easy journey but hang in there. This is just like any addiction it is never 'healed' and temptation is readily available. Diligence. Trust will take time and I pray that the public will leave you all alone so you can work through your addiction. God be with you all.

  97. I honestly couldn't have said it any better myself. Great job! Yes we all make mistakes, fall short at times and even many times through life. It takes great acts of humility, many self reflections, many defeats, and it takes a lot of courage especially in this world today to be a real man. A man who fell short before GOD, and instead of running away, quitting, denying, lying, and just giving up in life even when I am sure Josh had wanted to do through all of this but here the real true "MIRACLE" of this... he didn't! In fact he was a real true man about everything... went through rehab, put in all the extremely hard work, did whatever he had to do to recover from this and in the end look what GOD has done in return! He accepted what he did was wrong and even that wasn't good enough to him, he wanted to take responsibility for his actions to ensure they never happen again! Instead of being a coward and running away from his wife and kids he was a real man of GOD and stayed! That is the power of almighty GOD! I am a nationally registered paramedic and have seen the worst of the very worst in poeople, society. I have witnessed the endless emotions of death, mistakes, wrongdoing but I have this to say... when you are a man of GOD which nothing was more evident than to watch John from beginning to end and just how very far he went for his own family, his wife, his kids, and even himself look no farther than who Josh is today! The same men that God asks and wants all of us to be... honestly Josh you are now going to be a major inspiration to many including myself just the perfect testimonial of when life gets hard, when times are extremely tough, when there seems like there is no more hope, when you make mistakes, fall short, and when life gives of just about every reason possible to just quit we see you and we see what GOD has done for you and this is the GOD I always knew! GOD BLESS YOU GUYS AND YOUR FAMILIES!
