The Duggars React to Jill's Pregnancy

The Duggars will soon welcome another member into their growing family. Jill and Derick Dillard, who married two months ago today, just revealed that they are expecting Baby Dilly in March 2015.

"There is a lot of joy," Michelle Duggar, 47, told People Magazine. Michelle has been continually reminding her daughter, who is suffering through severe morning sickness, of the beautiful new life she is nourishing.

"I have said to Jill, 'When you feel sick and so tired, remember you are growing another person inside of you and this is a good reason to be sick,'" Michelle told People. "For me, I would try to sit down and rest whenever I was sick while pregnant. You have to do what you have to do. The end result is so worth it."

Jim Bob Duggar said he is also looking forward to having another grandchild and that he knows Jill and Derick will be great parents.

"Jill has been such a wonderful sister to all of her brothers and sisters," Jim Bob, 49, told People. "She always makes activities for the kids, looks for ways to make a dull project fun.  And Derick is going to be a great father."

Fifteen-year-old Jedidiah Duggar agrees: "I am up for babysitting if they need help. I am so excited for Jill and Derick, and I know they are going to make wonderful parents. Jill has always wanted to be a mom. She is perfect for it. Derick is a wonderful guy; he will be a good dad. He will be amazing."

Derick's mom, Cathy, who nearly missed Jill and Derick's wedding due to intensive chemotherapy treatments, is now cancer-free and ready to be a grandma.

"Oklahoma State is my alma mater," she told People. "This year, they came out with a T-shirt that says 'Real grandmas don't wear pink, they wear orange.'  I plan to get one of those. I am looking forward to every aspect of them having this baby."

In contrast to the Duggars, Cathy has only two children of her own, Derick and Daniel.

    1. Ginger is amazing for nausea.
Tea, ginger ale and sliced pickled ginger (like they serve with sushi) you can usually find in a jar in many stores....really helps!

We all know what is happening to Derick's Mother, I think this is a gift to his Mother, so she'll know that her late Husband will live on, and Derick will have a great life!!!!!! See this is A GREAT GREAT WONDERFUL GIFT!!!!!

  15. Great advice! My morning sickness lasted from 6 wks to around 10-11 wks. During that time, for whatever reason, the only 2 things that I found I didn't have an aversion to were Burger King chicken sandwiches and Life cereal (haha!!!), and not that I recommend those, but I was told if that's what I could handle than that's what I should eat. Usually it was only in those windows when the nausea was lifted, and I really didn't even want it then, but since it was all I could stand I did it for the little one, and it worked for me. I'm not sure why those particular foods, but one day I must've said something about Life cereal (???) and my hubby probably ran to the local grocery store and bought some cereal. Bless his heart. And all the after work stops at the local BK... My point is (I really do have a point), rely on Derick, God, and others, slow down and allow yourself to let them do for you. You are so sweet Jill, and I know your giving spirit and that you will want you to do it all, but allow God to give you the humility to receive, to turn it over and be okay with having a really cruddy day where you just don't feel like getting up and doing those pesky dishes that you didn't feel like doing the night before! (; ... Just be okay with giving yourself a break, whatever it is. The two of you enjoy this precious time, accept God's help and the support of all those around you, and in the end you will have your own great memories.... And 22 years later, I don't think I've eaten a bowl of Life cereal or ordered one of those crispy, loaded with mayonnaise, chicken sandwiches ever again! Pregnancy is WEIRD, that's my other bit of advice! (; .... I was thrilled to hear that Cathy is cancer-free!!!

  16. I am overjoyed at the news that Derick's mom Cathy is now cancer-free. Blessed be the Name of the Lord. I am thrilled too for Jill and Derick, they will make awesome parents! :)

  17. See how being a kind soul gets rewarded by God.She got everything she prayed for:-) :-) How can people be surprised that shes expecting, if your a follower than it shouldnt be a shocker.Maybe by her showing early its a sign of twins.I showed at six weeks and was in maternity clothes by eight weeks, some women just have strong signs.I wonderif Jana will help deliver the baby since shes taking similar classes?I hope it's televised like Anna's was.

  18. I wish people would stop saying its too soon, or they should have waited. They dont believe in birth control, so it was bound to happen sooner rather than later. Plus, they wouldnt have gotten married if they werent ready for a family. She grew up around all those siblings. Im sure she's well aware of what is going to happen. He has a steady job to support her. Everyone is different, and ready at different times. Congratulate them, and stop trying to give advice for something that is really not your place.

  19. bit suspect announcing tis pregnancy just 30 days after getting marriage maybe this will be a *premature* baby when its born in march and good on you michelle with all the children u have for having time inbetween everything u have to do to be able to rest when feeling sick

    ReplyDelete
  20. Congratulations! Try frozen grapes for the morning sickness. :0)

  21. I really hope someone stops the insanity of naming all their children with the same first letter. If you must do something for people to remember them, go alphabetically. For instance the first one starts with A, the second with B, the third one with C and so on. At least the would all have originality to their names and people would remember the birth order of them.

  22. Beyond excited for Derick and Jill!! Love them! If it wasn't for them I probably wouldn't watch anymore. (Ben ruined it for me.)

  26. Seabands are good against morning sickness (used against Motion sickness as well). And Nux Vomica. It helped me and I felt sick all day long before taking it. Couldn't even drink water.

  27. Wonderful news! Sorry to hear about the morning sickness. Here's my unsolicited advice: Avoid coffee during pregnancy and while nursing. Also very happy to hear that Derick's mom is doing so much better.

    ReplyDelete
  28. So happy for you guys! Morning sickness usually gets better the further into pregnancy you get. At least, that's how it was for my mom. :)
Such good news about Derick's mom!!
    God Bless You All!!

  29. If they continue with the letter theme like Jim bob and Michelle has "J" and josh and Anna have "M" I think Jill and Derick will either use "C" or "D"

    ReplyDelete
  30. Congrats!!!! Jill and Derick. Cathy, Great News to be cancer free!!! As for the "blood Relative" comment in the article, Blood does not matter when your adopted. You are loved just the same. Because of my adoptive parents( they raised me, clothed me, fed me, etc) they are my "real" parents. Blood relative means nothing and I have never had a desire to find my birth parents, just very grateful they gave me up. That comment is very insulting to her parents and to her.

  35. I wonder what letter jill and Derrick will choose for their family?

    ReplyDelete
  36. That's amazing how Jill did everything so fast - met the guy, went to Nepal, started courting, got engaged, married very soon after engagement, now the baby... Everything is go so well and so happy! I'm curious what letter they will choose for the names!

  37. My thoughts and prayers go out to Derrick, Jill and baby Dillard! God has truly blessed you! I am a mother and I can honestly say; to Jill; that the morning sickness and other challenging symptoms of pregnancy are all worth it once the baby is born! May the lord bless you all! Kimberly Mills Parker, Ontario, Canada! PS: I love your show. It inspires me to do well in life and be a better Christian

  38. Instead of trying to turn severe morning sickness into a "positive" how about offering some remedies and sympathy? It is okay to say you feel sick when you feel sick and those around you should not be offering platitudes or admonitions.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I wish you two well, but PLEASE DON'T use a letter theme for your childrens' names. Give yourselves some individuality....

  40. So happy for you jill. You are amazing and i know you will be such a good mom. I hope you start feeling better. It is all worth it but no fun. We all support you. :)

  56. I had 2 boys and I had morning sickness with both. You can't go by that!

  57. "God does better at picking mates than we do.."I think it's prideful and erroneous to be convinced our choice of spouse always comes from God.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. God knew who you would marry before you were even a twinkle in your parents eye. We ultimately have our own choice, but if we make that choice without talking to God about it, we may miss out on Gods best. And being an all-knowing, all-powerful God he would have a better idea than we ever could.

  58. Sp happy for Derick's mother that she is well. May she stay healthy, strong and be allowed by the Duggars to enjoy HER grandchild. I think that Derick should honor Cathy if it's a girl, and name the baby after her, whether it be first or middle name. The baby will carry the Dillard last name. Michelle does not need to be "honored" yet again, but for what? Cathy has been through the difficult challenges in life.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Congrats! I had no morning sickness with either one of my pregnancies with my boys.

as far as morning sickness goes, my drs suggested a couple of crackers before lifting your head up from the pillow. i didnt have a single minute of it but my husband sure did, lol! poor man, every morning!! (3 boys & twin girls) it definitely depends on the individual.
