Duggar Relationship Updates

This weekend, Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard attended a wedding shower thrown by the Duggars' church fellowship. They look forward to tying the knot early this summer.

Jill's sisters have been helping plan her wedding. Will there be another Duggar wedding in the near future? Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald are still in a courtship. And we must say, they make a cute couple.

  1. glad for Jill and Derrick. but please be real about ben and Jessa they may make a cute couple but a 18 year old is not ready to get married. why don't these people see the reality of this?

    1. Ben is more mature, stable, and ready for marriage than most 30 year olds I know! The age number does not a man make! It is their maturity and character, and he has more than enough of both!! I think, in my own humble opinion, that they are probably engaged, but are not sharing the news so as to not steal the limelight from Jill and her big day. Just my thoughts....

    2. Why dont you see that michelle herself married at 17. Some state laws only require that you are 16. And where i am in australia, you need to be 18.
Age has nothing to do with it. Its all about maturity.
What i want to know is, why hasnt ben popped the question yet? They have been courting longer than jill and derick.. so im surprised she isnt engaged yet. Gives me more reason to believe the relationship is a flop.

  3. They both look so happy! The cute little cap sleeved tops Jessa's been wearing lately are too cute!
I know there will be some critical comments on the top Jessa's wearing, but I'm here to defend her. Her bangs don't resemble the world, and neither does her makeup or top. She looks like beautiful Jessa Duggar, and that's great!

  4. Did Ben give Jessa her heart necklace? Its cute. Beautiful couple. They are looking happier every day!!

  14. If Jill or any of the Duggar girls are to do any public speaking, PLEASE train them to get rid of the word "like" as in "I, like, said...." "He, like, said." Jill must have said, "like" two hundred times on last night's show. Please.

  27. Hello, Lily and Ellie. This is by no means derogatory at all. I absolutely adore Derick. Adore him. And I like Jill as well. However, the Duggar girls are being put more and more into the public spotlight, which is a great thing for them to share their beliefs with the rest of the world. My opinion is that the girls need training to remove some of the teenage/young adult "slang" they use far too much. The word "like" is used so many times in this latest episode that I got distracted from the message of the show and got focused on the word "like." Jessa did it also. Jill would say "like" eight times in one sentence and it was used as slang most of the time. Example: "He did, like, this." "I did, like, that." "We were, like, fill in the blank." "And Dad did, like, this." "And I was, like, you know, I like him." Please pass along to this wonderful family that this is not derogatory; it is constructive criticism. My own daughters used to do the same thing, overusing the slang word "like" almost every other word in a sentence until I made them aware of it. They don't do that anymore after becoming aware that the overuse (misuse) of the word "like" is so distracting to the message they are trying to convey in speech. Respectfully sent. Other than needing to work on the overuse of the slang use of the word "like," Jill is a princess for sure! She did use the word "like" appropriately several times, but it was hard to listen to because, especially when she was nervous, "like" appeared in slang so many times. It is the same thing public speakers have had to overcome in the last several years. "But-(pause)-um" is one slang phrase a prominant politician picked up and had to be trained to stop saying it. Haven't you heard the 2000 "but, um...." It spoken as but, pause, um, then continuing with sentence. Public speaking requires training, and I trust the Duggar children will get training on the misuse of the word "like." Other than that, a very uplifting episode I just don't want young girls to get the habit of "like" every other word.

    2. Some times i do the same thing, i think it has a little bit to do with nerves.Im tryin do do my best, its helps when people point it out and remind me that im doing it.I dont think you are being rude, just u being helpful, you are absolutely right.

  28. I can't believe the part last week where Jill said Derick "looks different." Say what? Different from what? He is cute as a button. Derick is the best thing that ever happened to the Duggar family. Looks differerent from the Duggars? Derick is the best looking man out of the entire bunch, if Jill means Derick looks different, she surely has to mean that is by far the best looking of the entire family. Derick is priceless.

To the person that said that an 18-year-old is not ready to get married, I would just like to throw it out there that while some 18-year-olds may not be ready to marry, I know of several couples that have been married for years and even decades that got married at 18. (One of those couples has even been married for over 40 years!) I believe that it really depends more on the people rather than the age. One person may be ready at 18 and another may not be ready until he or she is 28, 38, 48, etc. :) There are many factors that come into play. :) All of that said, I am really excited for the Duggar family and all of the things that God is doing in each of their lives.

  33. I wish Jill would stop using the slang word like that I am trying to teach young girls not to use == the slang "like." I have tried to get published about this. Maybe Lily and Ellie can word it so that the message gets out there.

    1. What does it matter to you is call reality for a reason

      Delete
  34. In that case, would you like them to be fake or themselves? Why would it matter how they talk? Looking at particulars is truly unnecessary.

  35. Do Jill and Derick have a registry somewhere?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Thrilled for Jill and Derick. I'm curious about how he will earn a living back in the states? He has a degree in accounting - is he working for a church or religious group? I"m delighted he got Jill a nice ring and necklace, but how does he pay for them? No judgements! Just curious. Also, Ben at 18 is twice as mature as most 25 yr old men. He's been working longer. You don't need much to start out.

These kids are more mature now, than most kids are at 21 or older. They've been working, and being responsible for years. I think they're old enough. It's spoiled, worldly kids, that aren't ready for marriage. Age has nothing to do with the US 50% divorce rate. It's due to the wrong start.

  38. I am so happy for Jill She ahs always been my favorite They look great together I cant wait to see the wedding Congrats to you both

  39. I'm glad Ben and Jessa are waiting. Jill & Derrick seem to have the ideal situation. Derick has a great job very close to the Duggar home. Jill can continue her training as a midwife, still film for the show and see her family often. Derick and Jill will easily be able to afford a decent quality of life and maybe during vacation time do some short mission trips. As much as weddings are exciting, Ben and Jessa have a lot to figure out besides love/religious compatibility. Ben needs to find out what he wants to do and either build his business or start his career. Remember Josh had the car lot for 3 years before he asked Anna to marry him. Ben has had his windshield business for less then a year. It takes time.

  45. Hi Anonymous,
I think that it is refreshing than am 18 year old man knows what he wants. Remember 18 year old's can fight in wars and potentially lose their lives defending the nation and they can help chose the President by voting. Marriage is a big commitment but I think that young marriage & growing together is not a bad thing.

  46. Hi Lily and Ellie (and Duggars), I am the oldest of 12 children (thirteen counting me) and I will be 14 in December. We have one set of twins in the family. I was wondering if there is any way I could contact Joy-Anna or any of the Duggar girls? I would like some helpful tips and encouragement from them. I can understand if they can't but it doesn't hurt to ask. I wish they could come to West Virginia or Virginia sometime. Any future dates??? :) Well, let me know ASAP if I can contact them :) I wish more people had godly families today :)

  50. Divorce doesn't have anything to do with a couple's start. It's the present at the time of the divorce that matters. Exactly what have they been earning? Besides the show. I know they done some online study and training using the buddy system. I do agree they are all old enough to wear combat boots and marry.

  53. Stop judging Ben's age, you guys. I know it's a controversial topic, but they can take as much time as they want and Ben can pop the question whenever he wants. God will work things out, He is in control. Please be positive in the things you say.

  54. Anon 51: You are pretty young to judge if parents are too strict. There is a balance that you do not understand yet. A lot of kids you age think that they know better.
