"Duggars Down the Aisle" Recap

On tonight's episode of 19 Kids and Counting, "Duggars Down the Aisle"...
  • Michelle begins by explaining that each of her children grieve differently. Jordyn recently expressed her desire to visit Jubilee in heaven.
  • Josie update: The almost-three-year-old is crawling, running, jumping, talking, and pushing kitchen chairs across the room.
  • Duggar Insiders Tip: To drive out hiccups, eat a spoonful of sugar or have someone scare you (like Jim Bob did to Michelle while they were dating)
  • Josh and Anna head down to Florida to help prepare for the wedding of David and Priscilla (Anna's sister). Although David and Priscilla have also purposed to save their first kiss for the alter, they do give each other Hershey's Kisses (chocolate candies).
  • Jim Bob and Michelle also head down to Florida early. Jana, who loves children, enthusiastically takes on the challenge of getting the little ones packed and ready to go. "I wasn't for sure that it would get all put together properly," says Jana. But everything works out in the end, and the kids are soon on their way to the airport to fly south.
  • Before the wedding, Josh and Anna challenge David and Priscilla to a game of tennis. David runs five to ten miles each day and, according to Josh himself, he and David are polar opposites.
  • "They were so in love that I thought, 'Oh, this will be easy,"' says Anna, in retrospect. David and Priscilla end up winning.
  •  On the day of the wedding, Mackynzie is exhausted. Michelle grabs her granddaughter and, through loving words of encouragement, is able to put a smile on the two-year-old's face.
  • As the couple exits the sanctuary after the ceremony, David whispers to Priscilla, "I married my best friend."
  • The Duggar girls joke that Jinger needs a man who can provide her coffee and wants to live in a city. All five of them desire a man who shares their convictions and is willing to work hard but can also have fun.
  • Contrary to popular belief, Jessa explains that the girls are not "sitting around eating bonbons and waiting for Prince Charming." They are serving others, gaining skills, and growing closer to their family and to God.
  • Jill shares what she and her sisters do when men come calling: send them to Dad!
  • Are there any Duggar courtships in the works? Not yet! "If something happens, you probably wont be the first to find out, but you'll find out soon enough," Jessa tells viewers.

  3. What a beautiful job of sharing your journey with your precious Jubilee. What a tribute to the impact Jubilee had on your lives during her short time with you. And most of all, how gloriously you honored the Lord with your faith and what you believe about the character of our God.. You all are amazing in how you talk and walk your faith. I am a child of God, too, but I'm constantly amazed and in awe of how your entire family carried yourselves. I sobbed through this episode. In a mom of 2 grown children who love the Lord and a Nana to my three precious grandchildren. Thank you for enriching my life through your journeys, and thank you for always pointing us to our sweet Savior. I pray those that don't know the Lord will come to desire Him through your transparent lives. May God continue to shower your lives with His perfect love.

  4. Not sure if you will read this, but I wanted each of you to know what an inspiration you are for me. I love God with all my heart and I wish with all my heart I was blessed with Michell's sweet spirit. You are blessed, and the life you show your children is a living testament to God's grace and love.

  5. Hi Lily and Ellie,
Do you think you could say on the blog all the names of the episodes that come each week? Do you also know if the Duggars watch the Olimpics? Do you know if the Duggars are planning to come to the Nashville ATI 2013?

    Thanks,
    J&J#1FAN

  11. It was a great show I enjoyed learning more about The Duggar family every season! I hope that every blessing the family is noticed and not just the big blessings like marriage and babies because they should matter just as much in life! Thank you Michelle and Jim Bob for sharing your family with us for this new seasons! Jubilee is watching over you with a smile! Thank you Lily and Ellie for sharing this blog with the fans!

  12. As a woman who fears and dosen't trust men nor boys, it's refershing to know for a fact that there are faithful, God-fearin men out there. I'm 31, single, "NEVER" been on one date, been kissed once (by Duke the Sealion!), and have had very little general friendship experience with human males. Unfortunately, my psycholoical view-point and belief on marriage is pain, suffering, sorrow, and misery. As much as I want children, I can"t do it without a husband. And I don't see a man in my life as a positive thing.

If God dose have someone for me (I'm not sure I want to have someone), I am saving that first kiss for the alter.

  13. I love the Duggars and I'm sure Anna's family is great, but I watch 19 Kids and Counting to see the Duggars. This episode was very lacking in info about the Duggars and too much about Prisilla's wedding. Yes, it's wonderful that her and David found true love, but it's a shame that 3/4 of the episode wasn't about the Duggars. The interview with the older girls was good, but the rest was just boring. Just a few minutes of the wedding would have been okay, but to skimp on Duggar time wasn't.

  16. I love Jessa's witty remarks! She has a strong personality and almost dry sense of humor. I liked listening to all the girls comment about their current relationship status (singe!)and hear that they're content. Very encouraging since I have also learned contentment in that area over recent years.

    Hi Alexis,

The hour-long episodes often take longer to upload.

  18. Jessa is really funny and sweet I love hearing her jokes! I love how Jinger is the same way! The younger of the four are outgoing and Jill is somewhat shy but still fun and Jana is shy and very lady like! Joy Anna is an out going Tom boy and Johannah is getting to be a big girl with Jennifer and Jordyn(I think)! Josie is this strong toddler thats been through it all and is so cute! Michelle had raised cool kids!

  20. I noticed that Jessa almost seemed defensive during the future husband interview with her sisters. Did anyone else get that vibe??

    ReplyDelete
  21. Alexandra, i kind of got that same vibe. maybe she's just tired of people always quizzing them down about marriage - as though they have nothing else to ask about! i felt for joy anna, she just seemed really uncomfortable with the whole topic..she's really too young yet to be focusing on that part of life. she's still young enough and active enough to want to be out getting into monkeyshines with her brothers! Blessings to all

  22. I emailed David and Prisilla asking about how they loved God and they called me and talked to me about the Lord and how I could know Jesus and I made Jesus my lord

    ReplyDelete
  23. @ Anonymous: Yes, that is true. I am sure the older Duggar girls get asked a lot about their future plans as far as marriage goes. And yes, Joy Anna did seem uncomfortable to be there, but I am glad that she is considered (or at least invited) into the "Older Duggar Girls" group because she is of high school age. It has been wonderful seeing her grow up on the show.
