Jim Bob and Michelle's Siblings

To have nineteen children, Jim Bob and Michelle must have grown up in large families themselves, right? Not exactly. Michelle is the youngest of seven, and while that may be considered a big family by many, it is tiny in comparison to the size of her current family. Jim Bob, on the other hand, had a quieter childhood with his parents and older sister.

Michelle and five siblings (Evelyn, Freda, Garrett, Cathy, and Pamela)
Jim Bob's sister (Deanna) and her husband (Terry) and daughter (Amy)

  2. I've always been curious of Michelle's family because she doesn't talk about them much on the show, I remember the episode with her late father but that's about it. Is it that they don't like the publicity or perhaps she isn't close to them?

  5. I thought they always showed Amy's last name as Duggar... but she isn't a Duggar by name.

  7. As far as I know, Amy's mum and dad only married a few years ago, so she has grown up sharing her mum's surname of Duggar. I suppose she just didn't want to change it? I remember a Duggar special where Michelle's sister (I think it was Pamela) said she wasn't sure how she felt about the size of her sister's family at first, but then she got used to it and realised how well she coped.

  8. I know some of Michelle's siblings live in Ohio -I remember that from the episode when they went there for the family reunion. Maybe its distance for some of her family. Doesn't Amy use Duggar for professional reasons?
I am really looking forward to the new episodes. Love the Duggars! :)

  11. Michelle looks way younger! Maybe they are just to stuck in their ways to want to be on TV a lot since Michelle and Jim bob don't really watch TV either. Never thought that Amy's mom wouldn't be married to her dad before Amy was born. WOW that is a shock but nothing wrong with it in my eyes love is love.

  12. Amy was credited as "Amy Jordyn" in early episodes of 17 kids and counting. Amy Duggar is her professional name.

Michelle is a lot younger than her siblings. I believe five of them are very close in age, then there is a small gap to number six (Carol?), then a large gap to Michelle. She has at least one nephew who is older than her.

  16. Michelle has an aunt (her mothers sister) 92 still living. The family keeps in touch but don't see her family often. Most of us are much older than her,and live far from her.The family is sweet happy and normal!

  17. It would be interesting to see a big huge family reunion. The Duggars family and Michelle's family. That would be a awesome show.

  18. Why not grow a life before you grow a family? Josiah, what 19 and courting. What does he have to offer in a marriage. Hormones are clicking so what you get married. Maybe that's what happened to Josh. I think the Bates family are at least getting educated and have careers. The Duggar's don't seem to believe in education or having a career.

  19. @Anonymoose

Amy certainly IS a Duggar. She was born out of wedlock and her parents didn't marry till she was a teen.'
