When season six of 19 Kids and Counting (premieres Feb. 14th) comes to a close, TLC will introduce another super-sized family. Who could that be? None other than Gil and Kelly Bates and their 19 children!

  5. While I am really excited to see the Bates, is it a 1 hour show or a series? Also does this mean the Duggars are off the air after this?

    Hope both get continuing series!

    Thanks,

  7. Have you ever seen a Duggar or Bates male actually earning a living--by that, I mean actually going to work every single day regularly with regular business hours and not packing for more travels? I don't mean just Jim Bob, who is the head of the TLC earning compound. Other than doing political campaigning, owning tow companies, and car lots that they don't actually run? The average Joe cannot shut up business to travel abroad with his family at a young age for a month. Nor can they turn over the business to go do political campaigning. What example has Jim Bob set out on this show to show and inspire men? All I have seen is that Jim Bob and sons have a harem catering to the male every whim. If they are so against birth control, why is there not narry a child adopted in each of these families? Adam and Eve sinned or we would not all be here. And--hey, cut the cholestoral (spelling) and sodium by using baked torilla chips rather than Fritos, add some veggies to that disgusting recipe for kids by using ground turkey rinsed, beans rinsed, and add lettuce, tomato, and reduced fat sour cream.

  8. This is great! Now there are at least two wholesome shows on TV that I can watch. Even though I have only one child, I marvel at the way both the Duggars and Bates handle these large families. Watching the Duggars over the past few years has made me get closer to God. I now read the bible everyday and make a point to live a life more pleasing to God. The Duggars have done their job well!

  15. Hi Alexis, Jennifer, and Jordan,

As of now, it looks like the Bates will just be doing a one-hour special on TLC, but that can always change. Nothing has been announced about the Duggars going off the air.

What the network has shared is this: After the season 6 finale of "19 Kids and Counting," there will be a one-hour special about the Bates family. That show will air on March 27.

Hope this answers all your questions. :)

  18. I believe that since the Duggars show has high ratings that TLC wants to test the waters and see if another "big family" show will gain equal ratings. If so, then TLC most likely will have the Bates show running while the Duggars are on hiatus after their season ends. Likewise, when the Bates' season ends, the Duggars will return. Continual high ratings for TLC and income for both families which is a blessing.

  21. There are plenty of possibilities as far as an intermarriage between the Duggars and Bates. But probably it wouldn't be for awhile. It's always fun watching them interact, though.

  26. Not trying to be negative, but the Duggar family does not have high ratings. They are actually very low. Other TlC shows with similar or slightly higher ratings were cancelled.

  27. I'd say that the one hour special might kind o be like a feeler pilot deal. Then maybe they'll get a show to
