  1. it was probably easier for Jill and Derick since they could hold hands while handcuffed ;)

  2. This was an awesome, and eye-opening show.
Amen.. gotta learn to work together.
    Wonderful!

  3. Jessa didn't seem to happy about it....and to be honest, she looked kind of depressed. Let's hope not....

  4. I thought they all looked kind of embarrassed to have to do that. Yes there was a lesson to be learned, but it was kinda silly. It makes me wonder if that is something they really would have done or if it was just set up for the show. I love this family though and look forward to every episode! Can't wait to see Jill and Derek's wedding and Jessa and Ben's engagement!

  5. Why did Jill and Derrick need to go through this since they were already married?

    1. At that point they were only engaged. :)

  8. I loved this...every couple should go through the training, that the Duggars are going through, before they get married. They are preparing these young people for life. I am amazed at the insight that Jim Bob and Michelle have. Blessings to the entire family.

  9. Jim Bob and Michelle are good at teaching, training and preparing their children. This is not done by some parents. And some grown children don't listen to or follow their parents advice.
Michelle is right in saying it has worked for them, because it is obvious by their good relationship they are doing some things right

  10. Did Ben say him marrying Jessa is kind of silly :()?!

  12. I keep waiting for Jill and Derick to get married! I haven't missed it have I? All I keep hearing on here is all about the pregnancy. Oh, Jim Bob, you are always getting poison ivy and I have the best cure for you. Take a fresh banana peel and rub the inside of the peeling on the rash. Do this often throughout the day. Before you know it, it is just all gone! BUT, let the kids eat all the bananas because they are fattening you know.

  13. It seems the parents have so much control over their grown children's relationships. Trust these men since you are agreeable to these marriages that they will be the spiritual leadership in your daughters' lives. In a different episode Jim Bob wanted to see if the guys had what it takes to be a Duggar. These men will not become Duggars. The ladies will take their husbands' names. Trust that these men's parents raised them well like you did your daughters.

  15. My family and I love watching your show, the message you send to others in so many ways and your openness to life. I'm sure you have control in what is aired and what is not.... I am praying that after you had heard that TLC blurred out the message on your Pro-Life shirts, at the very least, an apology is made...

  19. great idea! what a fun way to learn the importance of communication and working together.

  20. Both couples were such good sports. Not a great idea in terms of safety for them to be handcuffed.
They were lucky no one was hurt. Jill and Derek seemed embarrassed to be involved in that segment. I don't blame them. Was impressed with Ben's ability to find something positive to say in each of the "events". His good qualities came through in spite of the awkward position in which he found himself. Derek too, handled himself well, as always.

  21. I understand the lesson behind this they were trying to illustrate, but as Ben said, this seemed a little silly. I feel bad that the girls were made to climb and slide in those short skirts. They were probably aware of the possibility of exposing more than they wanted and may have been uncomfortable. And Jill and Derick had the obvious advantage of being able to hold hands and stabilize each other. Would have liked Jim Bob and Michelle to try it!

  22. How adorable! They are both such cute couples:-)

  23. WAY TOO MUCH!!!!! Looks like TLC running out of fresh ideas. This is way to wacky!!!

  24. ok... now try doing the obstacle course again with one or both carrying a 20 lb. sack of rice. With a family, you're going through a journey and you have others dependent on you who can't communicate.

  25. when's the video going to be posted?

  26. Not sure whose idea this was: TLC's? Jim Bob? Michelle's? Just way too juvenile. It would never have entered our minds to engage in such a bizarre activity with our daughter and her fiance. Further, while the bow and arrow "test" was more adult, it actually looked somewhat dangerous as the couples tried to control the equipment. In conclusion, a strange (and not in a good way) episode in every way.

  28. Very embarrassing.

  29. That was bizzare and humilliating. I also dont see how the test required much communication. It wasnt that challenging. I think they should of split into two, three person teams. Given each team a compass and a final destination ad scraps of material as markers and instructed to find their way to the destination, using their mate and the compass. And given a time limit. It would of been less humilliating, more challenging and would of required more communication.

  30. There will likely be many times when these communication skills will come in useful! Back in the 60's and early 70's people got together and had all kinds of plans to entertain each other, now we have become a society of screen watchers. Good for the Duggars that they are still doing some of the kinds of activities that people who are not just screen watchers do.

  31. The people who read this blog and post such negative, sour comments must be very dry, humourless personalities who have a very serious outlook on life and just don't like to laugh even a little. These were supposed to be comical episodes and somewhat funny, crack a smile~!

  32. Definitely one of my least favorite episodes.

  33. I thought it was more interesting to see who took the lead and not about how well they were communicating. With Jill and Derek, Derek lead the whole way. He looked behind to see how well she was doing and she always encouraged him to keep going forward. With Ben and Jessa, Jessa lead first and then it seemed as though Ben tried to take over at the very end. I wonder if this is how their marriages will end up looking like.

  34. Anonymous #33: I wasn't aware that the Duggar TV show was a sit-com.

  35. 33: let's put it this way, unfortunately some people get more pleasure out of making negative comments than finding the positive - in things that are not 'just their cup of tea' (that is aka for 'to their liking').

  36. What is this? marriage boot camp?

  37. I've hear so mamy things about theshow in recent months and have finally started watch. Honestly, I love it. The idea to teach the daughters and husbands, or future husbands teamwork and communication skills in their marriage is brilliant. To many young young people get married and do not know these basic skills. The is why the divorce rate is so high. I love that these children are being taught values in unique ways.

  38. I don't understand why the Duggars can't exercise modestly in sweat pants? If they don't want to do that then why couldn't they use leggings under their skirts instead? This family has just gone way over the top lately in so many things. I think they're trying to get more interest in their show.
