Official Burnett-Duggar Wedding Photos

John-David Duggar wedding

We just can't get enough of John-David Duggar and Abbie Burnett's beautiful wedding! Below are our three favorite photos from their special day. It sure was a lovely event. If you missed the couple's vows, we posted them earlier this week. For those keeping count, this was the eighth Duggar wedding.

As Told By the Little Duggars

You know your family is a little larger than average when your five-year-old nephew calls your 1,000-seat wedding chapel "small"...

Have you missed seeing footage of the younger Duggar kids, now that 19 Kids and Counting has been replaced by Counting On? Well you're going to love this video! On Jinger Duggar's wedding day, Jackson Duggar and Justin Duggar grab handheld cameras and film entertaining bloopers.

Jed and Jer Throwback

In honor of Jedidiah and Jeremiah Duggar's 18th birthday, check out this video clip from an episode of 19 Kids and Counting that aired two-and-a-half years ago ("A Toast to Love"). While their parents are out of the house, the Duggar kids gather around to plan a dinner theater to surprise Jim Bob and Michelle.

It's hard to believe that Jed and Jer are adults now! When they first appeared on 14 Children and Pregnant Again, the twins were only five years old.

Remembering Grandpa Duggar

The Duggar kids celebrate Grandma and Grandpa Duggar's 48th anniversary
2008

During our blogging break, we are sharing content from our loyal readers. Here's a message from Candy:

One of my favorite moments is the way the Duggar family handled themselves with such grace when Jim Bob's father passed away. I have lost my grandparents, and the ache was so bad, but just like the Duggars did then, my family and I held tight to our faith and trusted that our loved ones were in heaven and that we will see them again!

The strength they showed when Michelle lost Jubilee was another, and the grace sweet Anna has shown in the trials she has experienced. On a happier note, I have enjoyed the weddings, the births, and the Duggars sharing how they save money and do many things for their larger family.

Photo: Duggar Tree Fort

For those who have asked to see a photo of the Duggars' finished tree fort, your wish is our command! The fort was built by the older siblings and sits in one of the ditches in the family's yard.

Complete with real glass windows, this is one fancy tree fort. The inside features a play kitchen, purchased by the Duggar sisters at a local thrift shop, and space for a loft.

If you watched the first season of Jill & Jessa: Counting On, you may have noticed how thrilled the younger Duggar kids were to enter the fort for the first time. Parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar beamed as they saw the joy that their older kiddos had brought to the little ones.

Did you have a treehouse as a child?

Never-Before-Seen Duggar Pictures

We received an email from a reader that we know will be of interest to you all. While combing through personal photos to prepare for her parents' 50th anniversary celebration, this gal came across five pictures, taken 17 years ago, that feature members of her family alongside Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and several of the Duggar kids.

It is no surprise that the pictures were taken at Silver Dollar City, one of the Duggars' favorite attractions. The photos show a handful of children with musical instruments participating in a parade at the park. Which Duggars can you spot?

Keep in mind that Jim Bob and Michelle had only nine children at the time (Josh, Jana, John-David, Jill, Jessa, Jinger, Joseph, Josiah, and Joy-Anna), although Michelle was pregnant with twins Jedidiah and Jeremiah.

Duggar Kids Watch Football in TN

This weekend, John, Jinger, and Joy-Anna Duggar headed to Rocky Top, Tennessee, to visit the Bates family and brother Joseph Duggar, who attends Crown College in Knoxville. They were also able to attend the Tennessee-Arkansas college football game yesterday evening.

The Duggars and Bates are close friends and have similar convictions, but one thing they disagree about is college football. The Duggars are devoted Arkansas Razorback fans, while the Bates are loyal to the Tennessee Volunteers.

Yesterday's game was close, but the Razorbacks gained the lead during the third quarter and finished in victory. The score was 24-20. Both the Duggars and the Bates are competitive, so you can imagine the conversations that took place at this game.

Today, Krispy Kreme is giving away one donut to each customer who talks like a pirate and one dozen donuts to those who dress in full pirate attire. Jill and Derick Dillard took several of the Duggar kids to a nearby Krispy Kreme location to take advantage of this unique offer.

19 Blessings and Counting

Happy Thanksgiving to our lovely readers! The Duggars came up with 19 things they are thankful for:

1. We are thankful for the Bible that reveals why God made each one of us and His loving plan and purpose for our lives.

2. We are also thankful that the Bible teaches us what God wants us to do and not do.

3. We are thankful for Jesus, God’s son who came to the earth 2,000 years ago, who lived a perfect life and taught us the true meaning of life.

4. We are thankful for the Ten Commandments that make us realize that we all have lied, stolen something, or sinned in some way and need God’s mercy.

5. We are also thankful for Jesus who laid down His own life, suffered being tortured and executed to pay the penalty for the things we have done wrong.

6. We are thankful that we can know for sure that we are going to Heaven when we die by asking for Jesus's forgiveness, turning over the control of our life to Jesus, and asking Him to take us to Heaven when we die.

7. We are thankful for the joy that comes into our life when we become a follower of Jesus and how life starts to make sense.

8. We are thankful [that] as we start reading the Bible, God will start directing our lives in a supernatural way.

9. We are thankful that we can talk to Jesus and share everything with Him, and that He loves us no matter what we have done.

10. We are thankful for God’s Holy Spirit that comes into our spirit after we become a follower of Jesus and helps us navigate through life.

11. We are thankful for prayer, that it is not only us talking to Jesus, but Him also speaking to us in our heart and guiding our life.

12. We are thankful for all of the examples in the Bible of people to model our lives after.

13. We are thankful for the close fellowship and encouragement we can have with others who are also seeking to live for Jesus.

14. We are thankful for the closeness a family can have when each family member is committed to serving God and each other.

15. We are thankful for the joy that comes when we take the opportunity to share with others how they can also have a relationship with Jesus.

16. We are thankful for our country that was founded as one nation under God!

17. We are thankful for all of the women and men who are are in the military who are fighting to protect our freedom, and we are thankful for those in the past who have even given their lives for our country.

18. We are thankful we live America, a country that even though it is not perfect, it is a beacon of hope to everyone in the world!

19. We are thankful for Thanksgiving Day, when each one of us can reflect on all of the blessings God has given us, and commit to make every day a thanksgiving day!

Another Duggar Home Video

The Duggar kids are at it again! They recently filmed another video, this time starring Jason and Josie:

A Duggar Jam Session

If you walked into the Duggars' house, chances are good you would hear music. When Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar starting having kids, they decided they wanted to give them the gift of music. Neither comes from a musical background, so they are grateful to have found friends who have faithfully taught their kids weekly lessons for more than twenty years.

Each child starts off on violin at age three and piano at age five and is given the choice of picking up additional instruments as he or she grows older. As part of their homeschool routine, the school-aged kids are expected to practice music daily.

Impromptu jam sessions are a regular occurrence around the Duggar house, as the kids gather to play hymns and Gospel music, as well as classical tunes and bluegrass instrumentals. Check out this video of a recent Duggar jam session, featuring a hymn called "Send the Light" (lyrics below).

Send the Light
There’s a call comes ringing o’er the restless wave,
“Send the light! Send the light!”
There are souls to rescue, there are souls to save,
Send the light! Send the light!

Refrain:
Send the light, the blessed Gospel light;
Let it shine from shore to shore!
Send the light, the blessed Gospel light;
Let it shine forevermore!

We have heard the Macedonian call today,
“Send the light! Send the light!”
And a golden off’ring at the cross we lay,
Send the light! Send the light!

Let us pray that grace may everywhere abound,
“Send the light! Send the light!”
And a Christlike spirit everywhere be found,
Send the light! Send the light!

Let us not grow weary in the work of love,
“Send the light! Send the light!”
Let us gather jewels for a crown above,
Send the light! Send the light!

All About Jessa's Fiancé Ben Seewald

Viewers have watched Jessa Duggar's courtship with Ben Seewald since she entered the relationship 11 months ago. As of Thursday, the couple is now engaged and looking forward to their wedding day.

Many of you have asked for more details on who Ben is and what he is doing to prepare to support Jessa and his future family. He is a full-time college student studying business and, like his father, works full-time replacing and repairing auto glass. His family lives three-and-a-half hours south of the Duggars in Hot Springs, Arkansas, but Ben recently moved north to be closer to Jessa.

Ben's parents, Michael and Guinn Seewald, interviewed with People Magazine about their son and his relationship.

"When Michael and I had Ben, he was a great baby, but he was a real handful as a toddler," Guinn, 40, told People. "He was very adventurous. He was a very opinionated kid."

Although Ben is young, only 19, his father says he has always been mature for his age. "We have tried to treat him like an adult growing up," Michael, 39, told People. "He did kid things, but with adulthood in view. He has had that his whole life."

The Seewalds are in full agreement with the Duggars' views on courtship and purity.

"There is nothing in the Bible that says 'thou shalt court,' " Guinn told People. "But we have raised our kids to know that someone else's heart is like a treasure, and you want to be careful with that other person and treat them with great respect. There is no perfect pattern. Treat other people as a gift. Honor God and your relationship."

One of the key differences between courtship and traditional dating is that courting couples are never alone together. They always have at least one chaperone. In the Duggar household, it isn't always easy to find someone who is willing to chaperone, unless you resort to bribery.

"Jessa and I found out that Jill and Derick were bribing the younger Duggar kids with Skittles payment to be chaperones for them," Ben told People. "We had no idea that's why they had such an easier time of getting chaperones."

Michael and Guinn Seewald, parents of seven, say that the size of their son's future family is up to him and his soon-to-be wife and that they have full confidence in Jessa and Ben to make the right decision. They like Jessa and are excited about the upcoming marriage.

"[Jessa] is very strong," Guinn told People. "She is very intelligent. She has a lot to offer to a conversation. She has great ideas – I have enjoyed getting to know her."

"She is exactly who we would want our son to have a relationship with," Michael added.
