  2. Here's hoping that they will remain happy. The 19K website contained a video from Michelle on what to look for in a husband. It took her so very long to say what she wanted to say. The one thing I find odd is that she never used the word "love"...find someone that you love and that is "good" for you and to you. It was a clinical list of character qualities, etc... maybe I'm missing something here, don't you use the word "love" when thinking of a spouse?

    2. Love is a choice. I choose to love my husband and I am very, very blessed he chooses to love me when i am unlovable. Falling in love is the easy part, but working at love and committing to love the same person forever is the hard part. So yes, look for someone you love but remember, loving that person is not always going to be an easy choice to make.

  3. Such an exciting time for them! I too am actually getting married June 21st. My wedding date was booked though since last year...so I thought it was neat that they picked the same date as me and my soon to be husband. Wishing them a lifetime of happiness. 9 more anxious days to go!

    1. I got engaged after 6 months of dating but we waited a year to get married. They are both young and should enjoy being alone for awhile but that's my opinion

    3. But they have different standards and can't be alone until they are married. People forget that the best time for giving birth is before 35 yet we are expected to wait until our 30s to get married.I am 34 and I have been married for 20yrs. I am still deeply in love with my hubby. We made the decision to have children early due to a medical condition that required I have a hysterectomy at 17.I know we are the exception rather than the rule. I do feel that we took steps to make sure that we would be the exception, premarital counseling.
I just wonder though as the average age of a bride and groom have raised so have the divorce rate. Maybe growing up together helps. I know there's a lot of other factors like the fact divorce is more.accepted ect. I just know that it makes you find a way to make it through tuff time's when you need each other. I know I will get a lot of people who disagree, but it's just a thought.

Oh, to the person who said Derick and Jill should have their wedding in 2015 so they can enjoy engagement...why? Why not get married and enjoy being married now?:) My engagement was two months and those 2 months felt so long in waiting to get married:) - we were ready and there was no reason to drag it out. Good on them for having a quick engagement! :)

  43. Wow, great job ladies, for not letting any Debbie downers comments get on this happy site, as it should be. Sometimes we need a break from all the nastiness and we just want to enjoy this happy, exciting time and be one united Duggar fan fanatic, right?

  45. Great pic of Derick. Their similuar coloring complements each other. They certainly will have cute kids.

  46. How can they "enjoy" a year long engagement as a previous poster suggested? These two adults aren't allowed to kiss each other. This is the reason they rush a wedding so the hormones can be "righteously satisfied" before they do something that's not allowed, like a full hug. I'm not sure that their way is the wiser, more Godly way, as the couples are rushed into marriage because of the physical, desires which SHOULD be there..but they confuse that with life long marriage love. I really do wish them well.

  47. I am so happy for then. I love this family and wish I had been raised in this kind of home. I wish they would adopt me. You can see the love in this family I wish them all the best. Cant wait to see the wedding and hopefully see what God has in store for this couple. They are truly blessed.

  53. @Anonymous 2

Yes, when you think about your spouse you think of them with love but what I think Michelle is trying to say is that you have to learn to guard your heart and want more than just 'love' in a good stable marriage. You don't just want to fall in love with just any man you meet! You need to consider your options as Michelle was saying. Would he make a good father to my children? Will he be a good and supportive husband? How does he treat his mother and/or sisters? These are questions that you need to ask yourself before setting your heart on him. Learn to guard your heart so that when he fits the criteria, you are free to love him if that is God's will! And who knows? He might be the one for you!!!!

I don't want to upset you but these are the morals that I have been taught and just see how similar they are to the Duggars!!! :) Have a great day and may God bless you!!!!!!

  63. I'm excited about the wedding and when your in love you don't wanna wait my husband and I met in August got engaged in December and married in June and we have been happily married for going on 10 year I was only 18 when we got engaged 19 when we married so if you pray about it and you feel like God sent him your way then why wait ???? I have a good feeling these 2 are gonna make it :-)

    ReplyDelete
  64. Someone said Jill and Derick should wait a year so they could enjoy the engagement, all I can say is I wouldn't wish another year of chaperones and side hugs on any couple as in love as these two. Moreover it seems unwise and unnecessary to wait when you have had confirmation from the Lord that this is right. Ellen

  68. @Anonymous My personal POV is that if you make your "clinical" list of qualities you feel are good for you and The Father brings that someone into your life you will instinctively love them (as Christ loves the church-Ephesians 5:25). However, much of the feeling of love that society refers to comes from physical relationships and is superficial. It was interesting coming from where I did with a courtship and subsequent marriage, realizing true love and acquired love...both of which are awesome- one of which is only healthy after marriage and establishment of real love. I think what a lot of people are seeing with these two is a very mature love for one another that people aren't typically used to while observing dating (or even courtships!). Which is why I think they've chosen to move along with life in maybe a quicker fashion than most people expected.

  69. It is so hard to wait a full year for a wedding!!! My hubby and I moved our wedding three times to make it closer to us!!!! Now we are happily married for 19 years with 7 beautiful children and are praying for more!!!! I know what it is like to wait for that wedding day and we even hugged before our wedding!!! Have fun at your wedding and I hope that God will bless you in your married life!!!

    ReplyDelete
  70. I am SO excited for Derrik and Jill! I've had such a wonderful time following their lives during courtship. Beautiful to see a Godly couple doing things the right way! Counting down the days til they air their wedding!!!! My hubby and i did much of what they are doing in courtship-setting physical boundaries, courting, always having someone with us on dates. It was hard sometimes, but it was worth it to wait. We only courted for THREE months people-before we realized we were meant to be. together forever! :) And marriage is the best thing that's happened to us-and we have 3 sweet blessings to show for it...all in just 4 years of marriage! To the people who are criticizing the Duggar family for their conservative ways-I hope they can't read everything you're saying about them. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. I for one, see them as a Godly family trying to do His will in all things. Most people have lost sight of what it means to live a real Godly life-so when we see a family doing just that...it can bother some of us. Because they are doing exactly what we aren't doing! I think with more prayer and discernment more families would live this way-or at least, be much more Godly then they are right now. As for Michelle ne'er talking about love...hmmm. You must be watching the wrong show because ALL they show is love-to each other, in word (she's mentioned the word 'Love' many times over) and deed. Their family is full of love-and it radiates from the screen right into your own home. If you'll let it. I think she didn't particularly use the word 'love' when Jessa asked that question because 'love' is obvious...they both know the other person know that's important. Obviously, in a Christian relationship, you marry a loving person-if you're going for a Godly spouse. God is love! So I think that's why she didn't mention it-because that's the obvious. Jessa wanted pointers on other things to look for. Love is obvious but other things can be harder to look for-especially when we let 'love' lead...it can turn you into some dead ends & messed up people if that's all you're looking for in a person.

  72. That Derrick is one good looking guy. Not a bad addition to "character" that they always talk about! Hmmmmm!

  73. how can you truly fall in love with someone if they do not have the qualities you are looking for in a spouse? spoken from experience my husband is everything i wanted in a spouse and love him to death.

  74. What a lovely couple! Thank you for being such a good example of choosing your life partner with a clear thinking head. The physical stuff is easy; it is the judging of character that is difficult, especially if clouded by the physical stuff. I hope your wedding day is everything you want it to be, and that your marriage will be fruitful and happy!

Best wishes for a beautiful day for a beautiful bride.
I was awestruck by what Derick went through to get the proposal 'just right', what a sweet man, Jill is very lucky to have found the love of her life.
Their story of love blooming over many miles is enchanting.
God does truly have a hand in who we are to be with, and Jill and Derick have definitely found each other through Gods' will.
True blessings to them on their very special day, I look forward to this episode, I have been watching since it was 13 kids and counting!
