  10. Wishing all God's blessings for this truly lovely, Godly couple. I am celebrating my 21st Wedding Anniversary with my wonderful husband today and hope Jill and Derick will be as happy as we have been. Thank you for the pictures and the great web site. If you think waiting until the Fall is a long time think of us fans in the UK, goodness knows when we will get to see the wedding! Oh well thank goodness for You Tube and this web site!

  11. Ok ~ People's magazine must have paid a lot of money to have the "exclusivity" for "all pictures" on this wedding. The public knows that 1000+ people attended this wedding (who probably had phones/cameras with them) and the only ones we have seen at all are the ones from People's Magazine...It is rather interesting....

    1. They sold out to the highest bidders. I used to have a lot more respect for the duggars & their desire to have an influence on others but it seems like every TV family, their desire has become the almighty dollar. They have sold out in the truest since of the word. I really believed if anyone would be immune to what Hollywood does to a family, it would be the duggars. I guess I was wrong.

  12. I am glad that TLC will air the wedding this fall! There are so many events and day-to-day activities that can be used to fill a season, but wedding planning and the event itself will be a fantastic focus for the entire season. I must admit that I was surprised at the limited amount of wedding pictures circulating with so many now using social media, but I am also very impressed at the amount of respect displayed by all guests in attendance (especially since so many photos were posted during the service at all three Bates weddings, and also considering the huge number of people in attendance at each of these weddings-Derick and Jill's included). I will be eagerly awaiting the start of the newest season in the fall. Thank you Lily and Elly for keeping us up to date in the meantime, you both do a wonderful job at maintaining this blog.

  13. I don't think it's fair we have to wait til the fall to see the wedding. They should do a special leading up to the wedding. When Anna had Marcus they did a special. Just not fair.

    2. They have had pictures with the Duggars of course they know them!!! As far as the pictures go they are respecting the couple and the fact they if they have a contract with People and TLC for their pictures they can get in trouble for sharing pictures early.

  23. Can you comment if the kissing photo that was released was a staged photo( Most news outlets are reporting that was their first kiss in the picture) If they were married outdoors it makes sense but I thought their ceremony was inside. Nothing wrong with staged wedding photos lol but the news reports said that Derick said it felt right to dip her for our first kiss and then the photo is outdoors with no bridal party or near them.

    1. Their first kiss as husband and wife was inside the church and photos of it have not yet been published. This may be included in People Magazine's coverage in the next few weeks. If not, TLC will definitely include it in their coverage of the Dillard wedding - as they did for Josh and Anna's wedding.

    1. The Duggar family choose not to drink alcohol, and they do not serve it at parties that they host. But they do not judge others who do drink, and they have attended functions where alcohol was served.

  25. I am a bit confused why they are with holding wedding pictures. In my mind this is a bit odd. It would be nice to see what the family looked like and not have to wait till fall. Perhaps the Duggars are trying to teach self control and patience via there ability to withhold pictures. LOL

    1. They are not waiting until fall to release photos. They understand that fans of 19 Kids and Counting do want to see pictures as soon as possible, so they have made arrangements with People Magazine to publish photographs of the wedding. People has already released several photos, and will likely provide full coverage of the wedding within the next week or so. It takes time to write and publish, so waiting a week or two is entirely reasonable. I'm very grateful that the Duggars did choose to provide coverage through People Magazine because we do not need to wait until the fall to see the wedding - although I am very much looking forward to TLC's coverage also!

  27. Such a shame that obviously the rights have been sold to either People or TLC, so a block is being put on photos. I love the Duggars so much, but they don't exactly need the money, and I do think it's their fans who have made them famous, and yet it's all being withheld. Feel really icky and not like the Duggars at all, who always seem so concerned for their fans.

I hope the Diggars receive the feedback of how disappointing it is for their loyal followers to have this horrible publicity campaign that's clearly put a ban on photos etc. very unlike the Duggars and feel really out of integrity to me. Hi Anonymous 18,

Right now, the only official pictures that have been released are the ones from People Magazine, which we have posted to the blog. Very few individuals were allowed to take pictures at the wedding. We were given special permission and will be able to post our photos in a couple weeks.

Glad to have you as a reader! :)

  33. TLC are the ones who put a ban on photos being taken NOT the Duggars. They most likely did that, so you will watch the wedding episode.

  34. Give the Duggars a break. This was Jill's special day. Would you want your wedding ruined by all these people taking pictures? The two already had to endure paparazzi and cameras! Why else do you think they went to an UNDISCLOSED honeymoon location! Leave them alone! They don't want Jill to be hounded with people when she's enjoying the love of her life!!!

  42. Why do we have to wait til fall for Jill and Derrick's wedding coverage?

    ReplyDelete
  43. There are some pictures in British Daily Mail newspaper. Looks like the groomsmen have turquoise ties on so think that bridesmaids were in turquoise. Can send a link if you wish.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I wish them the best. I do however see it out of character for them to make money out of it by selling right to People magazine. You think they would be grateful for fans and want them to see their wedding.

    ReplyDelete
  45. There's also an article online about where and when Jill got her dress and the dress that she chose.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I have to agree with those that were really disappointed about the lack of pictures. I even feel insulted that nothing of the wedding will be released for weeks. I have been following the show since the first special, before I had children. It changed the way I view God's blessings and made a huge impact on my family... Now I have a dozen children and they have all seen every episode. We own every season on DVD. My daughters (who look up to Jill and the other duggar girls so much) were especially disappointed. How do you explain that someone "sold" thier wedding rights to a 12 and 9 year old girl? (She thought they would at least post a picture of the whole family on Instagram or something)
I hope that TLC will reconsider the timeline and do a summer special on the wedding like they did for Anna's babies. I also hope that Jessa takes note and if she does marry Ben, handles things in a very different way.

  47. Lily and Ellie,

How are the younger (maybe older kids too) takeing this? (Jill moving away)

How far away will Derick and Jill live from her family?

Do you know If Derick and Jill will return to Nepal soon?

Sorry for all of the questions. I'm just really curious about where their going to live, how far away, and all my other questions. Thanks SO much If you can answer these!! You have a great blog. Love it! And thanks for keeping us updated! I know everybody really appreciates it!!!!!! God Bless and have a great rest of the week!

  52. Hi Lily ans Ellie,

Can you tell us how many weeks a couple of weeks are?

    Thank you!

  53. Perhaps the delay on the photos is to give Derick and Jill some much-needed privacy during their honeymoon. It would be very hard to begin a marriage if the media was exploding with news about your personal life. And as for People Magazine having the rights to the first photos? I think it was a very smart financial move for Derick and Jill- it may give them a nest egg to grow interest from, especially if they are blessed with children like Jill's family has been.

    ReplyDelete
  54. This fall???? NOOOOOOOOO :-( I'm dying to watch it :-)

    ReplyDelete
  55. Has anyone thought that maybe they...wait for it... just wanted some privacy? FTR I married in 2008 at the height of Facebook and we also requested no photos be taken. I didn't exactly enforce it but I don't think it seems strange given this day and age. Maybe Jill didn't want her professional wedding pictures to look tacky because everyone has a phone in their face trying to get their piece of the pie?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Great first pictures!
I wonder who paid for Jill/Jim Bob's trip to Nepal. Most probably they did not pay out of their pocket and TLC or else covered the expenses. So, it's very logical that the family is trying to make their living by selling rights for pictures and all. They do have other 17 kids to feed. I don't understand why other people criticize that very logical thing. Duggars are very fortunate that people like him and want to know more about them, so media help them financially. I remember awhile ago kids interviewed how happy they were that after photoshoots they were allowed to keep good photo clothes. That's a way God provides for this family.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Very disappointing about the photos belonging to people mag. Of all places! I don't read things like that! But that's where we have to go to see them. Is this duggars? Really?

    ReplyDelete
  58. I know it takes a lot to put all of this on tv...but the off seasons are getting bigger and bigger and the few weeks that are shown is getting smaller and smaller....maybe a month or 6 weeks of shows and then months off....its hard!Love the Duggars!

    ReplyDelete
  59. The Duggars have the right to withhold or sell their pictures...sure it was with utmost prayer and dignity.....since they don't drink or smoke..of course no champagne....I was given a complimentary bottle when I was on my honeymoon.....even though I wasn't saved back then...didn't like alcohol..tasted but didn't like it...threw it away.As for the "staged" pic of them kissing....it must have been after the vows....so many questioning this and that.....give them a rest!

    ReplyDelete
  60. While I respect that people didn't make it a photo op wedding, it is a bit disturbing that People magazine, of all publications has the exclusive rights. This is not the vehicle I would have expected the Duggars to use for their daughter's wedding. This should not have been an exclusive kind of thing. I don't like to use the term selling out but allowing a secular magazine to be make money on their wedding is a bit off in my opinion. I don't think anyone should be making money opportunities off a wonderful love story. With all due respect, I feel this was not appropriate. It would have been expected had TLC exclusive, since they are contracted through them and their program, but People magazine, which makes money off celebrity weddings...and other such secular couples...it's a bit odd to me.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I AGREE COMPLETELY!!!! CANT WAIT THAT LONG!!!

    ReplyDelete
  62. When will the wedding be on tv

    ReplyDelete
  63. I saw the People magazine issue today with a brief article and a few pictures. The picture Anonymous #23 was referring to, had a caption at the bottom saying the couple was posing. This was a recreation of the initial kiss at the ceremony inside the church. This recreation shot outdoors with the sunlight gave a great image of the event which had occurred inside just a short time earlier.

    ReplyDelete
  64. How lucky you were to attend the wedding and meet the Dugger's. Can't wait to see pictures and hear all about the wedding!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I dont see any problem with selling photo rights.

    ReplyDelete
  66. It's just a TLC thing, holding out so you have to watch their way of going through the getting married process. It will not be the first episode in the fall, they will show all the steps leading up to the big event and their actual wedding will be the last episode of next season....

    ReplyDelete
  67. I think it's disturbing to sell rights to show pictures of a wedding...I don't care who it is. I understand not wanting alot of people flashing cameras at their wedding, but selling out to a publication that also promotes some rather disturbing celebrity lifestyles. Doesn't seem fitting.

    ReplyDelete
  68. If anyone of us bloggers were that interesting to the public we would do the same things Jill and Derick have done. Why should they pay for photographers when photographers are willing to pay them?! They got a great deal, too bad everyone isn't in the same position and most people have to have pay for this service at their weddings. Wow! must be nice, when guys see how blessed they could be to marry a beautiful Duggar girl They may line up to get one.

    ReplyDelete
  69. @Alicia

Lily and Ellie have already posted that TLC will air the wedding in the fall. A lot of us fans have interpreted that as meaning the wedding will air during the newest season in the fall.

    ReplyDelete
  70. @Jessica Jonkman

A couple of weeks usually means 2 weeks. A few weeks means 3 or more.

Jill and Derick asked their guests to respect their privacy and hold off posting photos online for three weeks. The wedding was on June 21, three weeks from that date leaves us at July 12. I expect you will see a ton of photos after that time.

    ReplyDelete
  71. @Anonymous

Yes, I am sure they realize that their fans want to see the wedding and all of the photos. We have the privilege of seeing them inside their own home, as they travel, at weddings and funerals, and at a ton of other things that are filmed along the way. They don't owe us anything, we are privileged if they choose to share events when they happen, at any time they choose. I have kind of wondered if the three week hold on the photos and wedding coverage is to give the whole family, Derick's family included, some much needed privacy during the honeymoon and home setup period. As I am sure most people recall, Derick's mom nearly wasn't well enough to attend the wedding and she missed the rehearsal dinner. I am sure that fans will be just as interested in mid-July and in the fall when more details emerge about their special day.

    ReplyDelete
  72. To everyone complaining about waiting:
Chill! Lily and Ellie are very gracious to post pictures to us. I'm sure they want to show pictures now too, but have to wait till TLC tells them to. It's not them being mean or selfish. It's them respecting TLC's and the Duggars' rights. Also, a couple of weeks is only 3 weeks. Be grateful you don't have to wait longer.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Selling the photos to People magazine was glorifying to God the Father and Jesus the son of God. Those photos will be fairly distributed through out the places people magazine goes to and because People magazine is of interest to many the magazines wind up in waiting rooms, in second hand stores and so on. Many people will get the opportunity to see this wonderful story. I don't think that Jill should be criticized at this wonderful time of her life, look for the positives they are always there for positive people to see and talk and write about, let's encourage one another in life. Congratulations to Jill and Derick Dillard!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Even if my last post didn't post I want to apologize for anyone in my response to those who want to see the pictures.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Whether there are 100 guests or 1,000 everyone at the wedding including the photographer should be dressed appropriately, and not looking as though you just walked in off the street after happening upon a wedding. , I say this with a chuckle because human nature is what it is and people will do what they will, so this is not said with anger, but please if you are going to a wedding, leave the blue jeans at home and tuck in your shirt! :) Same goes for funerals.

    ReplyDelete
  76. @Anonymous
But yes there are only 2 more weeks till we can see pics.

    ReplyDelete
  77. This is an interesting conversation. I have tossed about the selling out to a publication such as People, and what they may have been paid for the exclusive rights, but we don't know what was done with that money. We shouldn't jump to conclusions of selling out...They may have used that to pay for a home. It may have been given to some charity, we don't know and shouldn't assume that something bad was done.

As for not being able to wait to see the entire wedding, we must be patient and when it's shown, it's shown. Most likely the wedding episode will not be the first one shown, as it builds up to that moment. It may be one of the last episodes of the next season...we don't know and we can't control when.

Let them enjoy their new life together....in peace and not being judgmental of them or her parents. God knows their hearts and intentions.
