  4. I love watching the Duggars. They may be criticized for their ultra conservative way of dressing and living but I love them. They are refreshing and loving. I grew up in the 1950's when my mother and father never swore, went to church regularly and where I got a great foundation for my life. My faith, thanks to them, has carried me thru many difficult times in my life. God Bless you all.

  6. I understand someone's right to NOT interfere with their fertility. I also understand someone's right to regulate it. Perhaps this type of insurance coverage could be offered ala carte. Banning it as an option takes away the ability for others to decide their beliefs and practices in the process. If you don't adhere to this type of thing, you don't have to participate, but it should be made available to all if that's their personal/spiritual choice. However, if you are working for any type of religious organization, an employee should expect the organization to not offer certain coverages that fall outside of their spiritual belief system and perhaps you should look for employment elsewhere. It's always hard to serve and provide for the entire population. I wouldn't want to think that Josh's beliefs would take away the ability for other people who aren't like minded.

  8. Just because you don't agree with artificial birth control or abortion doesn't mean to have to use it, or have one. Having said that, taking away others' decision making abilities infringes on their rights. You are within your rights to live as you wish, with absolutely no mind to regulating births in your family and are free to deliver as many babies as you wish to. Those with different circumstances need a legal and safe alternative. This group would be removing that ability from others who believe differently. Just because something is legal, doesn't mean you have to participate. Neither side should be silenced, or rendered powerless to live as they believe. I think this point of view would satisfy everyone in the country. Thank You.

  9. Josh is so well spoken. Handles himself very well, articulates his beliefs with passion, respect, and even compassion for those who don't see things his way. He does not demean people on the other side of the argument.

  10. Josh consistently speaks of the woman's responsibility in deciding to become pregnant and/or carry the baby to term. How about if Josh could speak about the father's role in such decisions and better education for everyone. Also, Josh never speaks of the other areas of respecting life besides babies; i.e.: the elderly, artificial life support. Aren't those people just as important as unborn babies?

    1. Its a totally different arena. The elderly have made wills or let their wishes be known. And I can't think of one friend or family I've talked to that hasn't said, "if I'm in an accident and going to be a vegetable for my life, take me off life support" or vice versa. The point being they had a choice, a chance. Unborn babies don't.

  11. I love the Duggars, don't get me wrong.

If they are so concerned with protecting ALL life from conception to natural death - does that also include individuals who are not aligned with their way of thinking? And what about a woman who is raped or gets pregnant due to incest? Is he also saying he is concerned with protecting the lives of homosexuals?

  12. Good points here. All of them. Anonymous #10 raises an important question.

  13. Yes, there are guidelines for the "already here" who may be elderly and/or ill. It's a difficult issue and it's hard to serve everyone. How many babies have Josh and other men carried, delivered, and cared for 24/7 like the women in their lives? None, I would bet. Sooo, perhaps this would be a female issue mostly and we should be empowering women to handle this one. No, I don't think males would like their right taken away from them to speak their minds and try to legislate...well, having said that, see how the different minded citizen feels when a group attempts to take their choices away from them? You don't really know how you would react to a situation (100%, unequivocally, without any doubt) unless you have faced that situation. You might surprise yourself.

  14. Adoption is never a topic talked often enough during this debate. There are thousands of children every year killed or endangered because of bad parenting. I pray we all spend more time giving more options to mothers who are not in a position to parent. I am an adoptive mother whose son is now is 22. His birth mother loved him enough but knew she was too young to give him the life she wanted. Our adoption was one of the earliest open adoptions. Even so, our son cannot find anything about his birth father. The open process is wonderful. God blessed my second husband and me with a biological son at the age of 42. Blessed is the Lord in wonderful ways. I know we are better off loving others and not judging others. God bless alll

  15. I think women have made the case that this is a "female issue". But it is more than a female issue, it is a human issue. Men and Women create life together. Part of being female is carrying new life. It is out of our control for the most part, we were created to conceive and carry new life. God has asked men and women to reserve relations for marriage. Obviously, we have not always done this. Today technology has given men and women the ability to exercise more control over their fertility. Women have the legal right to terminate pregnancy, but it does not necessarily follow that this is moral, proper or pleasing to God, who permits us to choose for ourselves, but God does not like all of our choices, and there are consequences to our choices. Even though this dreadful practice will likely continue, it is vital that women and men not be left in ignorance of the ramifications of their actions, which is why I am grateful that men and women are speaking up for life and its value.

  16. With respect to Josh's consistent position on 'respect for the right' to act according to faith in our country, I know it is painful when there are legislative and supreme court decisions that go against any persons spiritual tenants. However, to MANDATE that someone is not able to receive coverage on care that is medically recommended or (worse) necessary, despite the heartbreaking possibility that you cannot have children, is so supremely personal. I just pray that "absolutes" are not how we handle our personal, let alone economic (meaning Insurance coverage) freedoms either. I understand the concern that companies might be required to act outside of their faith, but once you have agreed to work with the 'general' public (who are free to challenge a moral position), it is incumbent upon a company to respect the law. The law encourages freedom of choice. What ever that choice may be. Respectfully-

  19. I appreciate and am thankful for your service in D.C., Josh. I would like to point out that, although the law provides that a woman can decide to terminate a pregnancy, I wholeheartedly disagree that she can do this without the consent of the father of the baby. What if he chooses LIFE? Should a woman be allowed to kill this father's baby? Men should have choices too.
Regarding birth control and health insurance : If a woman decides to take birth control pills, that's her right. However, I should not have to pay for it, either in my taxes (for her medicaid) or through my health insurance. Perhaps woman of child bearing years could purchase, on their own, Birth Control Insurance ? My religious freedoms are being violated when I have no choice but to pay for these things. ABORTION and BIRTH CONTROL are not not rights, they are choices. I'd really like to hear your input on this. Thanks and God Bless
