Justin's Oral Surgery

Over the years, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have become experts at guiding their children through wisdom tooth extraction. Fans have watched some of those moments on camera. On 18 Kids and Counting, "Duggars Under the Knife," which aired in June 2009, Jana Duggar and Jill Duggar had their wisdom teeth removed. A couple years later, Jessa Duggar and Jinger Duggar had the same surgery on 19 Kids and Counting "Duggar Dental Drama." We also posted a post-op video of Josiah in 2015.

The most recent Duggar to have this common dental procedure done was 18-year-old Justin. Thankfully, his fiance, Claire, was able to be in town to help him recover.

Derick's Braces

For those who have wondered about Derick's braces and orthodontic work, here is an explanation...

Derick chose to have braces put on his teeth four years ago because his doctor recommended it, but jaw expansion surgery was a prerequisite in order to make room in his mouth. Unfortunately, the surgery moved his midline over, which means that his top two front teeth are no longer centered, and fixing them is likely not worth the hassle. Derick hopes to get his braces off soon.Below is a photo of Derick before his surgery.

Duggars Arrive in Central America

For the Duggars, December mission trips to Central America have become an annual tradition. They arrived at their destination yesterday and are ready to start serving with S.O.S. Ministries. This time, Jim Bob and Michelle both went, and they brought some of their younger children along.

Duggar Wedding #7...Coming Soon

It has been just over eight weeks since Josiah Duggar and Lauren Swanson announced their engagement. In Duggar time, that means the wedding is likely just around the corner. Below is a list of the approximate engagement lengths of the other Duggar couples. Jim Bob and Michelle have had by far the longest engagement in the family. Their kids, however, have only waited a maximum of 15 weeks.

Duggar Friends Become Family

Yesterday, we shared throwback photos from the trip that the Duggars took to El Salvador in 2009. Today, we have a handful of snapshots from another one of the family's excursions to Central America to share. But there is something about these pictures that might just have you doing a double take. 

This trip was taken five years ago by Jim Bob Duggar, his five oldest daughters (Jana Duggar, Jill Duggar, Jessa Duggar, Jinger Duggar, and Joy-Anna Duggar), and a number of friends. Do you recognize any of the friends? (Hint: They are no longer "just friends" of the family.

Early El Salvador Trip

Hope your Monday is off to a good start. We thought we would kick off the week with a few throwback photos from a trip the Duggars took to El Salvador back in 2009 (can you believe that was 9 years ago?). It was one of the family's first mission trips to Central America. Take a walk down memory lane by scrolling through these snapshots.

Duggar Engagements

Six down, 13 to go! As of May 26th, six of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar's 19 children were engaged or married. Each proposal was unique and different.

Josh Duggar proposed to Anna Keller by surprising her at Gator Landing, a Florida restaurant where she was dining with her parents on her 20th birthday (June 23, 2008). We don't have any official photos of that moment, but here is a short video:

Derick Dillard proposed to Jill Duggar in late March 2014, after having a singer-songwriter perform a song about their relationship. Her response was, "Yes, totally!" Click here to read the details.

Ben Seewald's proposal to Jessa Duggar took place five months later on August 14th, 2014. Ben got down on one knee at Throncrown Chapel, following an elaborate engagement scavenger hunt. A teary-eyed Jessa accepted with a simple "yes." (Click here to read all about it.)

Almost two years later--in late July, 2016--Jeremy Vuolo popped the question to Jinger Duggar on a New York City rooftop. A very stunned Jinger responded with a whispered, "Yes."

The following spring, in early March 2017, Austin Forsyth asked Joy-Anna Duggar to marry him during a horseback ride through the beautiful Arkansas hills. The full proposal has not yet aired on TLC, but the couple celebrated with an outdoor dinner.

And most recently, Joseph Duggar proposed to Kendra Caldwell during Joy and Austin's wedding reception. Kendra was shocked!
