  2. Lillie and Ellie-
I am so confused right now. The Duggars are in Minnesota right now. They spoke at a conference yesterday in Rochester, Minnesota. Did just Michelle go or something? Because I don't get how they could be in Missouri and Minnesota on the same day..

  7. I'm so happy!!!
I love watching these beautiful children grow into honest,Godly people. It's an honour and privilege to get to read your blog!!.

I was hoping they may consider helping a needy child and it would be an amazing thing to know that people like the Duggars care about these precious creations of God.

    Thanks for keeping me updated.
    Sincerely Anonymous Reader.

  8. I have to say,

I love the Duggar's, and I know that since they do a lot of charity work they deserve some vacation time even now and again. Everybody does! But it seems to me that they have been spending a lot of time on vacation lately, or on the campaign trail, which really is vacation if you're not the actual candidate. I know the Duggar's can afford it, but a lot of American can't and are hurting very bad as well. The Duggar's are seemingly becoming out of touch, or irrelevant to a lot of Americans, which not only will hurt any future political prospects, but most importantly hurts the Gospel.

We are called to in the world but not of it, and that means being relevant. No compromise by any means, but the last time I checked, knowing peoples feelings and how they are hurting (and trying not to offend them!) isn't compromise. It's being a servant.

Also, they might want to branch out more! SDC is a great place, but I would say they _could_ start trying somewhere with historical significance for example. As a homeschooler, I know that it certainly wouldn't hurt! North Carolina has a whole bunch of interesting stuff, from the Bennett Place here in Durham, to Ft. Fisher in Wilmington, to the beauty of my native Appalachia and the Cherokee reservation in the fall. maybe they could come here (hint, hint, HINT!!!)...

Not trying to hate ("don't hate; appreciate" is a common saying among local homeschoolers), but since I know they look at the website sometimes, hopefully this might be some food for thought.

By the way, awesome job on the blog, L&E!

    1. It's their money they can do what they want to with it. MANY times the Duggars have been on missing trips to El Salvador helping the orphans. And not to mention all the ministering they do when they go to conferences. You may not think they do much but through their Tv show and their love for God they have planted many seeds.

    2. Hi Lauren,

I completely agree that it is their money and they have the right to do with it as they please.

I was just pointing out a personal concern of mine that their going around to places like SDC might harm their effective witness here at home. I understand that there is a lot that happens off camera that we don't see. And most of it is good! But what will the impact be when all of the things that can be twisted (as so often happens in politics) or taken in a wrong light are what appears on camera? I'm afraid that the impact would be negative, not so much to them, but to the Gospel.

Just as it is their money, it is my opinion. I am entitled to it, as you are yours. No need to start an argument on this blog we both enjoy!

  10. @Emilia(:

    Hi Emilia,

The Duggars don't always travel together. They often split up if they have more than one thing going at a time.

  18. Through the years, we have been able to see Joshua spend time with his younger siblings, and I have always admired the way he tries to make them feel special. I'm glad to see that he is still able to make time for them, even though he has "left home".

  20. They didn't all go to Minnesota. Josh and Anna took someone from church plus a couple of the other siblings to SDC on Friday. Some of the girls are at Journey to the Heart right now, another is in Texas, mom and dad in Minnesota. Almost everyone was in church on Sunday. Mostly just the older ones are gone. And, yes, Josh does spend time with people besides his family. He's actually very out-going and likes people.

  21. Actually, it really isn't their money if you believe the bible. It is just money (and earthly possessions) on loan to us from God until we die and then whatever we have God passes to someone else. The key is what we do with the money and possessions that we have been handed on loan from God. It really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Everyone just needs to look at their own lives and say is God pleased in how I am utilizing or spending the $1, $100, $1000, $10000 that I currently have in my possession (which ultimately is all God's) WWJD

  22. Tell you the truth, I think Jesus would be on the roller coaster with Josh and the kids! Their is time for being serious and time for relaxing we all need it for good balance in our life. This family works hard. Don't know about you but I would be exhaust from all the traveling they do evangelizing.

  23. Another thing worth noting...many, many families in our area buy SDC season passes with their tax refund checks. It is extremely common for NW Ark. and SW Mo. families to visit SDC in Branson, Mo. for fun! Also, the Duggars get many free passes to things because of the free publicity they get for the businesses. The SDC family (Herschend's) are actually very nice folks and often give away free passes to families in need. It is definitely worth spending money to support this Christian business, especially in our own area. When you buy the season passes and really use them, you get a super great deal. Come visit Branson, you won't be disappointed!
