  24. The lens is called a fish-eye lens. It is a wide angle lens so you can fit more people in. Not so great for some things but awesome for others! It's just a different style of photography. There's nothing wrong with it

Yes, there's nothing wrong with a fish eye lens, but look at how many pics of just 1-4 people it was used for. That's not a lot of people. I think that's what people don't like. It's not being used for it's intended purpose, so it just makes for funny-looking pics.

  28. Rebecca, Please do not be drawn to the idea that wearing a skirt is more pleasing to God. THAT IS NOT SO!! That is a belief that some people have added to God's word. Wearing a skirt is not a bad thing if you feel compelled to wear one, but it is wrong to believe it is more pleasing in God's eyes or one is better or closer to God if they wear one. That is false teaching.

  30. Fish eye lens is good for big groups. When you go singular, all it does is make everybody look like distorted human beings. But lovely to see the Duggars together on Thanksgiving! :)

    Hi Anonymous,

Thanksgiving is an official day of thanks celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States and on the second Monday of October in Canada. Families and friends gather to fellowship and feast, usually on Turkey.

  36. I love the Duggars. I had a cheese sandwich for my dinner on Thanksgiving. I live alone with my service dog. I have health and a great friend in my dog. Lots to be thankful for.

  37. I love the decorating around the food. Very nice. Looks like a wonderful Thanksgiving spread. I like the fish-eye for pictures of a large group, but the distortion using that technique with just a few people is hard to enjoy.

To the person who said that they feel wearing skirts will be more pleasing to God, that is just not true. It's ok if a woman is led to do that, but it is not more modest or more godly. Think of all of the godly Christian women all over the world and the various types of dress. It's ok to wear pants, look fashionable, and be modest. It's false teachings like those (long hair only, no make-up, skirts only etc.) that really end up hurting people and turning young women away or leave them feeling guilty--something God does not intend.

  38. Anonymous at 5:o4pm - Deuteronomy 22:5 says, "A woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God." If you study the laws in the Old Testament,(KJV), you'll notice that most of them ended with stuff being an abomination to 'you'. Those were ceremonial laws, which we aren't bound to today. But some of them were to be an abomination to 'the LORD thy God'. These I believe to be moral laws, which we are supposed to obey. If the LORD is her God, a woman should obey his laws - and that means no pants. Rebecca Reyes, I admonish you to stay in God's will and follow His leading. Keep up the good work! :)

  39. In response to Beanie. Reading the bible and saying that a woman should not wear garments that pertain to a man--meaning that a woman should not dress to try to be a man and a man should not dress to try to act like a woman. Think about this globally: If a man living in Scotland loves God, wears a kilt and is a Christian, is he commmiting a sin? No! That is the attire of that nation for certain things. There are pants made for women. Women's pants. Women's pants are made for the shape of a woman. Wearing pants is not wearing men's clothing. If a woman wears clothing for men trying to BE a man, that is wrong and far different from a godly woman wearing pants and a nice top.

I have been a Christian for as long as I can remember and have heard God speak many things to me, but never that wearing pants is a sin or that if I wear skirts only I will be more pleasing to Him.

However, I do believe as James 4:17says that if a person's conscience bothers him or her, and they do not respond, then to HIM (as the verse says, it is sin.

I truly do feel sad for people who get wrapped up in legalism and think that they are pleasing to God because of long hair or short hair, make-up or no make-up, pants, jeans, dresses, cash or credit card, jewelry or no jewelry, etc. The list goes on and on. I serve a loving God and I listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit. The bible says that His sheep know His voice. I know that if wearing pants were wrong that I surely would have heard His voice or had one of the many godly people in my life tell me that wearing pants somehow displeases God. It is a personal choice, not a biblical mandate.

God wants us to be who we are created to be. A man should not try to be a woman (as in thinking they are born a woman and not a man) and same is true the other way around. That is the abomination-telling God He made a mistake in creating a person as man or woman. It is not an abomination for a godly woman to go shopping in the women's section of a store, find a nice pair of pants and wear them.

  40. Lily and Ellie,

I sure hope you choose to put my comment on the site about wearing pants. I think it is respectful and gives another viewpoint rather than ending with the idea that "you have to wear pants to please God" post. There are abominations listed in Proverbs but not one abomination is listed that states a woman must wear skirts. Of all of the millions of Christian women in out nation, millions wear pants. Would one really go so far as to say that all of those women are commiting an abomination to God? No, they are not. Your web site really talks about grace and loving God- something the Duggars advocate. Michelle Duggar has even said on her show that they wear skirts because they felt it would be pleasing to God, but that is their choice. She says that. So, does she really think that it's a mandate for all Christian women. If so, is Grandma Duggar commiting an abomination to God. She wears pants. Surely you would not want to hurt your pants wearing Christian readers with such legalistic beliefs. I just have to shake my head over this one because it truly lacks God's grace and love.

  41. Thanks for the pics. On the question of wearing skirts/pants, it is not true that pants are "men's clothes" and skirts are "women's clothes." There are women's pants and men's pants. In Scotland and Indonesia, men wear clothing that we would call a "skirt." But it is not women's clothing; it is men's clothing. The point of that Bible passage is that men and women should dress in the clothing that is appropriate for their sex in the society. In our society, women wear slacks/pants and they are dressing as women. So a woman can wear pants and still obey this scripture.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Deuteronomy 22:5 did not mean that women were to wear skirts, it meant clothes that were intended for women, blouses, trouser/skirt suits, dresses, of course respecting modesty but anything designed for a woman, is women's clothes.

  43. 1. The fisheye lens is ridiculous and immature for every picture.

    2. Joseph's biceps... Oh my word. How old is he?

  44. I don't think a woman wearing pants is even a valid discussion to enter the pearly gates. The Duggsrs' do artificial things that God did not give them -- they perm sometime; they wear makeup. They are not natural. All wore robes in the Bible as far as I can tell and I think maybe the men did not shave. The Duggars have taken this pants thing; way too far. Way, way too far.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Yeah, y'all say all that, but 'woman's pants' pertain to 'men's pants.' Pertain means - 'connected with; relating to'. 'Women's pants' are patterned by 'men's pants'. I believe there should be an obvious difference between men's and women's clothes, and there's really no difference between 'women's pants' and men's pants'.

  46. Whoa! Seems to me we have 2 very different ideas here! Interesting argument, guys. Merry Christmas, Lily and Ellie! p.s. What's your thought's on this "discusion"?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Don't say the Duggars have taken the pants thing too far, anonymous. They wear skirts because it is right for them. The only people who are arguing over the matter, are you all, so don't blame them when they haven't said a word.

  48. I can't believe all the postings. I don't believe the God I love and believe in cares a hoot what people wear. He can't be that superficial ! I was taught and taught my own children to not judge anyone by their outer "shell". I don't care and don't mind how the Duggars dress but it better be because that is what they like, not because it is pleasing to God. Yes, modesty can or might be pleasing to Him. However, we can fight forever over what is modest. I like pants as I feel much more covered and skirts make me feel exposed, even long ones. I have always felt pants were more modest than skirts that could fly up or whatever in the wind - but I am okay that others might feel differently. They might like skirts that flow over one's body and don't show the shape of one's bottom or something like pants might, I don't know ! It seems rather outrageous that when I die I might be black-balled for feeling as I do about something as superficial as fashion. Plus who decides what skirt is acceptable ? Even the Duggars' skirts are not all exactly the same and fit somewhat differently. geez.
We should be judged not by our looks but by the content of our character. Period. If I had to pick something then I would say makeup and hair permanents and tanning and the like are perhaps abominations as they are artificial and calling attention to one's looks as opposed to one's character.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Wow. It's your descision if you want to ware skirts or not. The duggar girls look beautiful with skirts on.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Anonymous at 11:02 - You're right in that we shouldn't judge people by their looks. The Bible says "judge not that ye be not judged". You're wrong saying that God doesn't care about what people wear. If He didn't, why did He give us standards? Because He cares. You also said that pants show the outline of your body, and that's true - it's also wrong. That should be kept covered for only your spouse to see.
Molly - yes, it is a personal descision whether or not to wear skirts as a woman. But if y'all women are seeking to do God's will, you'd obey Him and not wear pants.

  51. In the bible days there were no pants and dresses. It was robes. Some came from the mens section, some from the womans. Whos to say that that verse means pants and dresses. The old testament doesnt even pertain to our life now. After jesus came inthe new thats the teachings we are most accountable to. If some of you are correct then men are dressed incorrectly now because they wear pants which werent worn in the bible.. Dresses can sometimes be more imodest. I have guy friends that tell me that they like when a girl wears a dress because its "easier access." Not because she looks godly and modest. You can buy pants that dont hug your body. There are dresses that show a womans shape but because its a "dress" i guess it fits into YOUR rules. This whole discussion is one reason i left church. Superficial people who misread the bible or read into it to much. Not everything in there was meant for us it was meant for the people of the time. A lot of old testament rules were meant for israel when they came out of egypt to help give them direction. If god is really like how you people make him out to be then maybe i dont want to knw him. Talk about conditional love.

  52. Such a common mistake. People in church are sinners, they're imperfect .. they have flaws. They're not doing right by God...LEAVE THE CHURCH THEN! I'll tell you all .. when the Protestant Revolution happened, it opened the door for this constant leave taking that goes on in all your thousands of denominations. You are living a a self-centered, not God centered, faith. Give it some thought please.

  54. @Beanie Beanie, in those days, men wore skirts! And in these days, women also wear pants. So how is a woman wearing pants an abomination? We have to be careful not to add to the Bible. Some of this legalism can be a huge stumbling block for others.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I go to a 100% Bible-preaching church and once sat next to a woman in a tank top with a huge tattoo of a buck-naked woman on her arm. I can tell you with complete certainty that if God saw that her heart was in the right place, then she WAS most certainly "pleasing to God," regardless of that tattoo on her arm or what she was wearing. And I consider myself blessed to belong to a church that welcomes people like this woman with the tattoo.
