Discussion Question

When they go on a day trip, the Duggars often dress in the same color. Does your family do this?

  1. I actually did this (although not on purpose) on our trip to the zoo last week. It actually did work out great, though, to keep tabs on my family. (I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 15 month old)

  2. Haha. I only have TWO kids right now and I do like to put them in similar colored shirts so I can find them easy in a crowd or at the park. I can't imagine trying to keep track of 8 little ones! I'd put them in florescent yellow probably. :) Go Duggars!

  3. Maybe not the same color, but I do use bright colors when going out in a large crowd. And when we went strawberry picking, they all had to wear red shirts to hide stains!

  4. We do this with our boys (1girl, 3 boys). They love to match and its simply easier.

  6. When my family went on a trip across the country when I was 4 and my sister 8, we had several matching outfits. As it turned out, we still fit some of them when we repeated the trip when I was 7 and she 11. Actually, I think I probably fit everything, because my mom had either bought or made them rather large for my tiny 4 year old body, and I didn't grow that much between 4 and 7. I think that it's a good idea to wear matching things, or have similar colours.

  7. We do not dress the same. Just because we all have different tastes on clothes. I always wear a skirt everywhere, and my little sisters wear pants. We only dress up the same for family pictures.

  10. I used to think by one wearing longer skirts and having long hair was bringing attention to yourself whereas most people would think the exact opposite. But the Lord showed me that it not true. I now see the beauty of dressing modest and being set apart from the word and as far as having long hair that is a crown before the Lord. I truly admire how your daughters are and how they value themselves not in a boastful way but a way that give God the Glory.

  11. Though I think this is great idea for large families, we don't need to use this system for ours. I have a 1 year old who I carry around or he rides on the stroller, my 2 daughters 8 and 11 know to stick by me. I love this idea though!

  15. we did this when the kids were young because when we were at a mall, that just decorated for christmas, my older son (who had been directly under the clothes rack) wandered out into the mall to look at the polar bears! naturally we panicked and the store called a 'code adam' and locked the doors leading into the mall. seeing this and a little boy beside himself, a man brought him over the the doors & they found us immediately. however, when we were asked what he was wearing, we couldnt think straight and couldnt remember! after that, their clothes matched when we went out. they didnt have to be identical but at least had the same colors and looked like everyone was together!

    1. That happened to me too- well, minus the Code Adam part. My son (5 at the time) and I got separated in the mall at Christmas. I was heading over to report him as lost, and I couldn't think what he was wearing! Luckily he found me, but, gosh, so scary!
...Which is why we STILL take pictures of them right before we walk into theme parks! I mean...umm... just for the memories ;-)

  16. I am growing in my learning and understanding. Today, I would like to stop wearing pants. But, I just do not know where to start my journey. How do you keep warm in the winter-time? How do you make your outfits look casual and not too dressy? How do you find clothing that is modest but stylish? Any pointers would be very helpful.

  18. Hi can anyone tell me what's wrong with Jeans? Are they somehow sinful? I just don't get it. Thanks

  19. As a country gal evan if I wanted to I couldn't were skirts I am constantly moving hay bales, ridding horses and putting fences up. Besides no offense I like jeans better then skirts. That is just my opinion. But I am still modest.
