Jinger Reacts to Jill's Memoir

Following the release of her own memoir earlier this year, Jinger (Duggar) Vuolo is publicly commenting on her sister's memoir, which was released today. Jinger and Jeremy Vuolo went back on Tamron Hall Show this morning to discuss Jinger's book (Becoming Free Indeed), Jill's book (Counting the Cost), and Shiny Happy People (the Amazon docuseries that came out in June). Jinger also shares a little bit about the status of her relationship with her parents.

    4. Cousin Amy has been on yahoo interviews trashing the family...the family that made her famous too! She didn't have to be on tv with her cousins but she obviously loved the attention it got her. I'm sure grandma Mary would be heart sick to see her family fall apart like this :(

    5. 2:50...so you don't know them personally. Thanks for clearing that up..

    6. Watching them on TV does not mean you know them. In the video of Jinger and Jill when all the girls got together for breakfast, they appeared to be on excellent terms. It's easy to think the tv show was the truth...but now we know their lives were different from what we saw.

    8. Rewatching the counting on series, Jill and Jinger were both open about the fact that they were never very close. If I remember correctly from Jinger's wedding as well as another episode after that when they had a party of some sort and then in the interview episode. Jessa and Jinger were close always and Jill and Jessa bonded when they had their weddings and babies around the same time.

  3. Jinger’s response is like her book. Fluff.

  4. Jinger is very well-spoken. She and Jeremy both represented themselves well.

    ReplyDelete
  5. She basically said the same old nothing about her parents. She sounds still bound by an NDA. She and Jill were under the same roof until marriage. What happened with Jill obviously happened to the rest of the girls too. Jinger won't admit it publicly now the way Jill did. Jill should have been on the show, not Jinger.

    1. You obviously did not read the book.

    2. Jinger should have sat there and said every word in my sister's book is true, so everyone go buy it and read it. But she didn't.

      Delete
    3. Jinger must not agree with Jill on everything then. She was very careful not to firmly take a side.

      Delete
    4. Of course Jinger didn’t say every word in Jill’s book is true because obviously it isn’t. It isn’t Jinger responsibility to promote Jill’s rampage against her parents.

      Delete
    5. @9:14 Jill did not rage against her parents in the book. She told her truth of the circumstances surrounding IBLP, the show and payment for their appearances as well as her father's reaction to she and Derick making their own decisions. She said repeatedly that she loved her parents, she complimented them multiple times. She expressed gratitude for the wonderful life; trips, experiences...even groceries the show afforded her family. I am still amazed that JB and Michelle can't see IBLP fir what it is...a cult.

  6. Did anyone catch the comment that the suede jacket Jeremy was wearing was purchased the day before at Nordstrom's? The woman who sold it to him commented. Look up how much suede men's jackets cost at that place.

    1. Oh the horror!!!!! Lol! What does that have to do with anything?

      Delete
    2. So what if Jeremy bought an expensive jacket. He didn't ask anyone else to pay for it.

      Delete
    3. Only the best for Jeremy.

      Delete
    4. Nordstrom is quite expensive! Especially for a supposed pastor's salary..

      Delete
    5. What is the point of this gossip?

      Delete
    6. You are obsessed with Jeremy's clothing. If you can afford it, so what. You try to paint him as vain but its only make you sin in envy.

      Delete
    7. Buy new at Nordstrom's, don't save any difference?

    8. @11:12 Most people like nice things and items that are quality made in a timeless style will last for years....you could buy one from Wally's World but it wouldn't last more than a season.

      Delete
    9. What's your point? That Christians shouldn't have nice things? A suede jacket is an investment piece.

      Delete
    10. I can't imagine Jeremy wearing anything from Wally World. Even Jinger has traded in her thrift store clothes for that LA look from expensive stores. Values are ??

      Delete
    11. With inflation out of control, how can he afford that on his salary???

      Delete
    12. I'm sure it's just the thing to set off his lovely pens, watches, and shoes whether he's on TV, playing golf, or dining out.

      Delete
    13. @10:26 Name one person envious of Jeremy. Waiting to hear that answer.

    14. @4:52 Possibly Jinger? But that's about it. LOL

  7. This whole Duggar family has become nothing but a controversial hot mess!! They should all just get away from the media and social media and book writing and try to salvage any kind of normal private life they can at this point. Good grief how is any of this crazy stuff healthy. Just go live your lives and raise your children away from the circus you are making of their lives with all this drama, sheesh enough already!!!

    ReplyDelete

    1. That hot mess drama was going on the whole time the girls were growing up. Jim Bob tried to keep it hidden from the cameras, and you can see why. Savvy people picked up on it immediately though. The only thing coming out now are the details of what people suspected all along. Jill has cleared up most of the rumors, which it turns out were true.

    2. A hot mess created by the media and people who shot their mouths off that shouldn't have

    1. Head, stomach, you name it hurts. It's sickening, what some people will do while claiming to be Christ followers. One of the oldest tricks in the book. Usually rooted in money and greed. And people still fall for it!

  9. Jinger is just trying to please everyone. She wants to stay on good terms with her parents so she just waffles around about them. Jill doesn't pull any punches in her book.

    1. Jinger is talking out both sides of her mouth. In one minute she says her parents raised her in a cult that terrorized her so bad that she was afraid to leave the house and was scared to death of God and out of the other side of her mouth she says she had a "sweet" childhood etc. Its called being passive aggressive and its being sad for money. She wasn't out of that house ten minutes with Jeremy when she had radically changed her wardrobe with pink hair and so you couldn't have been that scared of offending God and so we know this is all being written and said for money and to live the Cali lifestyle!

      Delete
    2. @9:29 Which is exactly why I'd believe what Jill says more than what Jinger says.

      Delete
    3. California life got to Jinger. She's all fancy now

      Delete
    4. Jingers book was more about her faith ans Bill Gothard.

      Delete
    5. The book was one big whine fest..lol

      Delete
    6. I don't think she's talking out of both sides of her mouth. Life is complicated, and looking back on her childhood it's entirely possible that many aspects were "sweet," while some were not.

      Delete
    7. Some People are acting like Jingers book was so easy on her parents, when in fact it is the book that put the spotlight on her parents. She is the one that got the ball rolling on people trashing her parents for raising them in a cult that taught them to be horrified at God. That wasn't an innocent book that just pointed to the gothard doctrine but instead made her parents look unfit for staying in it and raising them in it. Did you read the comments people were making about her parents after all the interviews she did on tv? Jills book came out later but the damage was already done.

  10. I'm thinking we're going to have another book coming up, this time by Jana, telling how wonderful her parents were/are, and how great it is to live at home under fatherly authority until well into your 30's. I could see Jim Bob using her as damage control.

    1. Jana seems pretty smart. I would think (and hope) she would stay out of all of it. It would be nice to see her marry and have a life outside of her family.

      Delete
    2. Jana has been wearing tank tops and pants. I don't think so.

      Delete
    3. I can hardly wait. We'll learn how great it is to raise your younger siblings, babysit numerous nieces and nephews and chaperone courtships. lol

      Delete
    4. If Jana is wearing tank tops and pants, and not kicked out of the house, then the Duggar parents aren't as horrible as Jilly muffin makes them out to be

      Delete
    5. 8:55 You have no idea what hoops Jana might have had to go through to get permission to wear pants. Which is ridiculous for a woman her age to have to ask permission about.

      Delete
    6. 4:14- you have no idea if she went through any hoops.

  11. It’s insulting to compare Jinger’s book to Jill’s book. The main purpose of Jinger’s book was to show the freedom we have in Christ and how legalistic she was raised. Jill’s book is to tell all the family secrets, embarrass her parents, complain about only getting $174,000.00 and label her parents as fraudulent. For Jill’s it’s all about money. Of course her brothers are not happy with her, they have every right to support their parents

    1. Up until I read your comment, I was about to click out of this post. The comments are a reflection of why things in this world are so bad: Angry, selfish, self-involved people, who feel it is their right to unleash on others at all costs if they have been wronged. Many of us have grown up in physically and verbally abusive homes. Some of us can discuss our suffering and set boundaries in a way that shows we are better than what was done to us. Many of Jill's siblings have nothing to do with IBLP any longer, and have forged their own path, but they have done so with dignity, respect, and self-respect.

      Delete
    2. Jill's parents did not tell those kids how much of that percentage would go to them in the new season contract. Jill was 18 years old. It should had went to her.

      Delete
    3. I have more respect for Jinger now at this point. Hopefully Jill see.the error of her ways. I'm sure she'll do fine making money with this book, but all the money in the world will never make one happy. She won't be at peace because of her alienating her parents. She needs to forgive them

      Delete
    4. I haven't read Jill's book yet, but I do agree that Jinger was careful to frame her book to show the freedom of God's saving grace through Jesus Christ. That's probably why she didn't delve too deep in her answers to questions, choosing instead to say she's happy for Jill to speak what's on her mind.

      Delete
    5. Jill has every right to tell her OWN story, independent from the one her father sold to the public on TLC. I wouldn't be surprised if Jinger signed an NDA agreement with JimBob and that's why her book was sanitized.

      Delete
    6. Like Jinger didn't write her book for money too? I doubt she wrote it simply as a self-help book for others and then donated all the proceeds to charity.

JUSTINE, I JUST HOPE PEOPLE KNOW, I LOVED THAT JINGER SUPORTED JILL, REMEMBER THERE ARE 18 KIDS IN THE FAMILY, SO IT WOULD BE HARD TO BE CLOSE TO EVERYONE, THAT IS WHAT I AM GETTING AT!!!!

  13. Someone needs to ask Jinger if she signed an NDA point blank on TV.

    ReplyDelete

    1. With so many hints of NDA's in this family, I'd also like to hear the answer to that question from Jinger, who shouldn't lie about it or dance around the question if asked point blank.

  14. I watched the interview and had to crack up at the act Jinger was putting on. She was making those sad faces and acting like she was so broken, oh please we watched her videos with all the designer clothes and food with big smiles on her face. She is laughing all the way to the bank!!
