    1. That interview was spun to make the Duggars look like they treated the kids bad.. the media lives to create this kind of drama, whether it be tv or books. If something happens to Derek, Jill will be fortunate to have her family support after all she's doing to them

    2. I agree 7:43...the media hates Christians and they were able to use this poor girl..yes girl, to further the agenda that Christian families are evil and cultish.. not saying the Duggars perfect or should have handled things differently, but what this girl did was horrible...she should.get on her knees and apologize to her parents!

    3. I agree, 7:43.. the media and money got to that girl.. she should apologize to her parents and get right

  2. That's great. I hope her book sells well.

  3. That interview is nothing compared to the bombshells dropped by the actual book.

  4. JimBob and Michelle went to far. They failed to protect Jill ..or any victims. They defend Josh to this day. Add to that JimBob withheld finances and boom…we have an adult who grew up watching her father use the media for his platform and now Jill is doing the same.

    1. I agree. The efforts to protect Josh backfired on JB and Michelle. Look where he is now. It's an interesting turn of events that they are now complaining about the same media that gave them fame and fortune.

    2. Jill has gone too far!

  5. Good for Jill! The excerpt that I read from her book is horrifying so I'm glad she is free from her parents and hopefully some of her siblings will follow.

    1. The excerpt I read sounded like a bunch of whining..some children have had it a lot worse than this one..

    2. The Good Morning interview verified that Jill doesn’t know the cost that this book will cost her. I can’t understand why she is so willing to destroy all her relationships with her parents and all her siblings, some day she will surely regret her actions. It’s too bad Derrick couldn’t convince her that this was not the way to publicly solve anything, unless he was the driving force.

  6. I'm so proud of Jill and Derick for telling their story! Everyone has a right to tell their own story. Truth has a way of getting out.

    1. 3:22- their story may be far from actual reality. To get the truth, you need all sides told, not just 1 side

  7. Making the rounds. Maybe her book will become a best seller.

  8. I've been listening to the book most of the day. Congratulations to Jill and Derrick. I'm glad you are telling your story.

  9. You may love your father because he’s your father but not his actions. Love you Jill and Derrick!! Hoping for a Best Seller ❤️

  10. Jill went overboard with this book. There is a line between writing to tell your story and help others, versus airing every last bit of dirty laundry to sell books. She crossed it. I do not agree with her parents religion or their handling of the girls being molested. I can see why someone would want to talk about those things as part of their healing journey. But the money issues she discussed are tacky. My parents were immigrants to the U.S. and they worked like dogs, and expected their kids to do the same. We worked in that tiny diner before and after school, and all day on Saturday and Sunday; washing dishes, chairs, tables, windows, floors, and doing food prep. All of the kids in my immigrant neighborhood worked very hard. We never got paid and would never dream of asking. It was called being a family. After visiting my parents country as a teenager, where they came from farming families, I considered myself lucky to be in the U.S.

    1. @9:39 If anyone went overboard or crossed a line, it was Jim Bob and Michelle. Just because you worked hard in your family business doesn't mean that other kids were or should be happy to do the same. Jim Bob made about $8M from the show, so he wasn't exactly scraping to get by and could have, should have, fairly shared that wealth that the kids helped him create. This country does have child labor laws, too. You can get in big trouble for ignoring them.

    2. It sounds like you worked very hard. But I think the difference is you weren’t filmed. She was. And after the scandal with Josh, the show was rebranded as Jill and Jessa Counting On. But they weren’t paid for their time being filmed as adults. That’s not right.

    3. 9:39 The TV industry and how minors work there is not the same as a family diner and how minors might work there. Your parents didn't force you into signing a contract for that diner to operate.

      Delete
    4. Were you an adult with children of your own to support? Jill and Derrick were required to go against their own best judgement and not being paid.

    5. The situation with the Duggars is not the same. Many of us, including myself, worked for a family business as children to help out. I worked cleaning office buildings. I knew that any money we made went to paying the family bills. Parents did not use our labor to reduce their taxable income. They did not lie to the IRS that they actually paid their children, when they did not. They did not "charge" their minor children for room and board. When their children were no longer minors, their children did not work for free and were not used as "cash cows'. They did not make their adult children sign Non-disclosures; they did not make their adult children sign away all rights to any of their media content to their parents. They did not put their adult children in dire financial situations when they were making 6 figures from media content of these children lives.

    6. Bing robbed is a terrible feeling. I’m sure she feels entitled to some type of vindication.

    7. Yes I agree with the original comment..this is all about money and getting back at her parents by embarrassing them. Things seemed to shift when Arkansas failed to prosecute the person who released the protected juvenile papers. It seemed like Jill, under the encouragement of Derrick, decided to then go after her parents. Revenge never brings real peace.

    8. Work..lol it's not like they were actors. The family had cameras on as they lived their daily lives

      Delete
    9. @7:16 Not actors?? Half the stuff they did was either outlined in advance by the film crew or staged and filmed over and over until it was "right." The kids had to act surprised all the time when they were not, because everything had been rehearsed or rehashed.

    10. Jill earned that money. At 18 years old, that was hers to keep. She trusted the wrong people. They did no tell her what was in that new season contract.

    11. @ 3:05 how do you know this? The Little kids definitely can't "act"..all of what was filmed was real. It all doesn't make much sense..

  12. Proud of Jill. Sad though that Jim Bob views Josh as a success and Jill as a problem. This tells you a lot about Jim Bob’s attitude and beliefs which do not reflect Jesus’s teachings that I learned in my church. How can husbjesus be so different than mine?

  13. What a tangled web Jim Bob has spun for his entire family. And to think he set himself up as some kind of authority on morality and child rearing! He is a disgrace.

    1. A majority of Jim Bob’s children appreciate him and would not call him a disgrace, they will always remember him as a loving dad.

    2. Yes I agree that the majority of the children appreciate Jim Bob. If anyone wants a reminded of how the parents have been broken by the painful events look up u tube 2015 when they were pouring out their hearts and feeling like failures. It’s too bad to see how hostile so many people are to the parents. What Jill is sharing reflects her side only, and the whole story and truth is not being revealed.

  14. Welp. Most of us knew JB was shady. But GOODNESS!!! The man actually had a financial spread sheet for doing the basic “food, clothing, shelter” a parent is responsible to provide their children. His children are nothing but financial business contracts.

    1. I agree, 7:27. The audacity it takes to try to "bill" your children for raising them!! He created them. He has to take responsibility for them until adults. I'm glad Jill didn't cave in to that ridiculous "bill."

    2. Maybe Jill should provide an itemized list of all the babysitting she did! And changing diapers, and being the buddy, etc. These older girls had way too much responsibility and were robbed of a normal childhood.

    3. I agree. It looks like the IBLP way of doing things is to have as many kids as possible and then treat them like indentured servants, without paying them.

    5. @10:12 Yes, all thought up by a man who wasn't married and had no children!

    6. I watched the interview and it's crazy..Jill and Derek say 1 sentence and the rest gets edited by the news show to spin it to make the Duggar parents look like horrible people. Shame on them...

    7. @3:39 @10:12 The girls are told that being little mothers to their siblings is the highest calling they can have, a blessing to their parents, all that stuff. They have no choice but to obey without questioning. But being put in charge of the care and feeding of several "buddies" when you're still a child yourself is a big NO. Kids are not your servants. If you can't handle your kids yourself, you've had too many too fast. I consider that to be extremely selfish.

  15. It is uplifting to know that you survived the trauma of your childhood…… and that your marriage survived your father!! Wishing you and your family a wonderful life !! You deserve it!!!
