  2. For the spotlight being SO damaging, it’s a wonder how much these two seem to crave it……

    1. Different kind of spotlight now. Their terms. Their way. Their say. Their pay. I think it's grand.

    4. All these magazines she's interviewing for are all liberal.. they welcome the idea of her trashing her family. A Christian magazine probably wouldn't go for it

    5. I think she’s trying to bring some light to the situation. Share her story and help others who may be experiencing similar situations. It can be a lot to cut ties with your parents. I understand that because I cut ties with my dad well over a year ago and he tried to renter my life a couple of times since. I’m sure she’s just healing and dealing with it all and doing it in her own way.

    6. I never heard them say they want out of it like Josiah and Lauren. But once you are in it, it's hard to get of and remember, that was her parents doing. Now Jill can do things her way and speak the truth but also she can finally get paid for it. Her dad took her money but paid Josh. Go figure.

    7. 1:38 If that's the case, then JimBob loses on both counts.

    8. @12:46 What I’m pointing out is Jill said she had to face difficult moments with the spotlight on her and now she appears to be continuing to aggressively create that situation not only for herself but without any regard for other people in her family. You simply cannot say you’re angry your parents put you on tv during times you didn’t want the attention and turn around put all this unwanted attention on other people without their consent. This girl has drug her siblings through a lot and they aren’t benefitting financially or personally. She’s also put a lot of attention and personal info out there that will affect her own children long-term. It’s very very peculiar behavior for her to have so little regard for others

    9. Yep, they're finally in control of what they want to film, when they want to film it, and what they want to say. I don't blame them at all for using the same method their father forced on them for years. He'd probably be doing interviews too if he had anything legit to add to this. Just the fact that he isn't public disputing anything in Jill's book says volumes.

      Delete
    10. Not sure how she has “drug her siblings through a lot”. She is merely sticking up for her self. If her siblings choose not to do that it’s on them.

    11. 11:00..yes I agree with you 100%. Jill has drug her siblings through a lot, and also continues to allow Derrick to insult her siblings on the TV..like insinuating the siblings had a 7th grade education. I’m sure if they took the SAT test they would test at least equal to a high school graduate level. The siblings are very articulate, not to mention kind and loyal to their parents.

    1. Pay wall… Or sharing her experience? 🤔

      Delete
    2. @8:42 That would require some research. Jill's book made it on the bestseller list by individual sales. Jinger's book made it from bulk sales. Jill's books should actually be in the hands of individual consumers by now. Jinger's books might be in boxes in a garage or warehouse since they had bulk sales. Jill did in-person book signings at book stores with customers lined up to purchase her book. Did Jinger?

I tried to wish you a happy birthday on the post where you stated you shared a birthday with Whitney,on your actual birthday but all the comments or the entire post was removed,so I'll try again here. I don't care if it's unrelated to this post because I've seen lots of comments that were posted that had nothing to do with the post and they were allowed through. 7. Wow when you thought Derrick couldn’t get anymore arrogant and obnoxious he starts harping on all his brother in laws and sister in laws having just a 7th grade education. It’s too bad he wasn’t raised to be a more kind person. Pride comes before a fall.

    1. Don't attack the messenger. It's pretty clear that the Duggar kids didn't have stellar educations. It's also clear that you can get away with this in Arkansas. What do you want Derick and Jill to do, lie that the kids all did AP work and applied to Harvard? Or tell the truth? I prefer the truth myself. I also agree with Derick when he said there needs to be more oversight about this with the TV industry.

      Delete
    2. I don’t think Derricks intent was to mud sling or insult his brother and sister in laws. My impression is he is stating a fact that, their homeschooling was greatly lacking. He wasn’t implying that it was the childrens fault they are poorly educated. That only reflects back on their parents.

      Delete
    3. Derrick acts as he has all the answers. Attacking his brothers and sister in laws shows a great deal of pride and arrogance , and for what purpose, certainly not to the glory of God. From what the public has seen of the siblings, they have a great deal of skill and common sense to be such successful adults. The Amish people are good examples of teaching their children life skills. My husband and I both have degrees, but we are humbled at how God can use us to His glory as we follow the Bible.

      Delete
    4. @4:14 The Amish also allow their children to decide for themselves whether or not they want to be in the religion. The teenage children are encouraged to explore the outside world, run around, party, have a taste of that life. Amish parents are not anywhere near as controlling as Jim Bob and Michelle.

      Delete
    5. 4:14 Derick is entitled to an opinion and he wasn't attacking the siblings. He simply stated the obvious, that the Duggars did not have an adequate education. There's no oversight of homeschooling in Arkansas, or in many states. It's 'anything goes.'

      Delete
    6. Thank you 4:14 for pointing out the truth of how innocent individuals can be drawn into a blanket statement and hurt. I’m sure if there was a contest to build a home with the Duggar siblings versus individual with degrees the siblings would win!

      Delete
    7. @12:25 The others would pay professionals to build their home for them, professionals with actual licenses from the state boards. The others could afford to do that because they'd be earning 6-figure salaries with their degrees. I wouldn't put my horse in a barn the Duggars built, let alone live in a house they worked on.

      Delete
    8. 4:14 yes I agree Derrick is a know it all. The truth of the matter is all the Duggar siblings would be better without a brother-in-law like that. No wonder Jim Bob protected the younger ones from him coming in the house without him being there.

      Delete
    9. 4:14 Did you catch the recent news story of how some Amish men were outed and shunned when that nationwide emergency alert test happened? Apparently when the signal went off, the men were caught in possession of cell phones which they were not supposed to have per their religion. Things aren't always what they seem to be, and even the Amish have problems. You might want to choose a different role model for your children, if you can even find one.

      Delete
    10. @10:31 But Derick was the guy Jim Bob personally picked for a prayer partner and then allowed Derick to meet and court Jill. If you want to bring up protecting younger ones, there's a different Duggar you should be concerned about, not Derick.

      Delete
    11. I’m sure Jim Bob has learned something through this and maybe he will be wiser when giving his approval for the other girls to marry, and not approve of someone like Derrick.

    1. She doesn't care what anyone else thinks. She can trash her parents all she wants and get paid to do it. However, there are consequences to those actions.. I respected her more when they left the show altogether, which they did! On their own

    2. Jesus has a thing or two to say about vengeful hearts

      Delete
    3. Anon 8:04. Exposing past wrongdoing isn't "revenge", it's more like setting the record straight. I'm sure Jim Bob and Michelle don't like it though.

    5. 9:37- Michelle and Jim have every right to wash their hands of her then

      Delete
    6. Anon 9:37 ---- It is revenge when they know that they can say anything they want knowing that her parents will never publicly contradict her.

      Delete
    7. Her parents are not going to say anything publicly because they know public opinion would not be on their side. Although I'd love to hear how they would try to deny everything Jill said in her book, especially the parts where the counselor was in the room to witness Jim Bob's behavior outburst.

  9. It’s obvious she doesn’t care what anyone thinks. Too bad she isn’t close to a Christian who could point her to the Bible. I Corinthians 13:4 “Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant; does not act unbecoming, it does not seek it’s own, is not provoked, , does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with truth, bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things , endures all things.” Jill says she is saying the truth..One side of HER truth…there is ANOTHER side of this story and the Duggars are displaying Biblical restraint not getting into a public brawl over their personal finances.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Yes they are! I know they're praying for Jill and Derek to maybe see the error of their ways and come back. All Jill is doing is seeking revenge.. she can live her life now anyway. For years we didn't see or hear much of her..now she's everywhere

      Delete
    2. Doesn't the Bible also warn about being a bad parent, purposely not telling the truth to people, or being greedy for money?

      Delete
    3. It would be nice if she had some Christian friends around who could give her Godly advice. Maybe she has some, but she isn’t yet ready to listen. From want we have seen on her crusade on the air, she is still full of negativity towards her family. She is the only one that can let go of bitterness and be free indeed.

      Delete
    4. I guess we can call her sour Jilly Muffin now

  10. I respect Jill and Derrick immensely. JimBob must have been overwhelmed with anxiety and how to provide for all those children I understand that when TLC came into the picture that Jim, Bob and Michelle must've welcome that I know I would have too.

I thought Jill's book was stellar. She spoke her truth with grace and dignity. My prayer is that the family can be reunited and forgive one another for the short comings.

My heart continues to break for Anna and her children.

So my message to Jim Bob is to try to swallow his pride and be reunited with Jill and Derek as love conquers all.

  11. 11:08 - How about this Bible verse from Ephesians that begins, "Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger..." Or a similar warning from Colossians: "Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged." Or Corinthians, which you cited: "For children are not obligated to save up for their parents, but parents for their children." Or Luke: "For nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, nor is anything secret that will not be known and come to light. " Yes, the Bible is full of helpful verses.

    1. 3:28- how was she provoked or discouraged? She got to go on vacations, had a roof over her head, 2 parents who, tho not perfect, loved her,etc..

      Delete
    2. 9:05 - "2 parents who, tho not perfect" There you go, you said it yourself. What was their main focus? Not protecting their daughters in their own home until the situation became critical and damage was already done, for starters. Showing favoritism to their brother, which was discouraging (Jill says this in her book). Not setting up trust funds with third-party trustees; nobody overseeing any proceeds from the show for the minors. You speak as if having a roof over your head is a child's privilege, not a basic parental responsibility. No vacation makes up for anything else wrong in your childhood either, especially if you're not feeling loved. It's like having an empty basket. The world sees your lovely basket...but you know it's empty.

      Delete
    3. @9:05 Read her book. Jill lays it all out there about how she's been treated. Good parenting means more than a roof over your head or vacations.

      Delete
    4. 7:30 strange thing to tell someone commenting about the book, to read the book! Obviously people aren’t believing Derrick and Jill’s tell all book.

  12. Since Jim Bob and Michelle claim to be such great Christians, their lives should be an "open book". Since they have so much of their actions to hide, it seems to me that they worship money and notoriety instead. Otherwise they would have not swindled their own children out of their share of their work on the show. No parent should do this. Jill has every right to set the record straight as to what went on all of those years. If her parents don't like it, they can write their own book and respond to these things...but they won't because most likely, Jill is telling the truth about them. Good for her.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The parents did not swindle any of their children. Remember, Jill was the one who demanded the $175,000.00, not the other children. I’m sure the investment is still inLLC or they have received property, etc. I don’t believe anybody 100% who is talking about someone else’s investments, this is none of Jill’s business.

      Delete
    2. Jill wouldn't have had to "demand" anything if it had been rightfully given to her in the first place.

      Delete
    3. 6:21 yes I agree with you 100%. The problem was obvious, they were so desperate for money to go to law school and buy a house they took the extreme steps to get a lawyer and get the money from Jim Bob. Even though they received the $175,000.00 anyone who is familiar with investments like LLC it’s clear the Duggars lost out on additional investment money, by cashing out early.

  13. I haven’t had a desire to keep up with all of the extra drama with the extended parts of the family… I hope Jill & all the other kids get the healing they’re obviously desperately seeking/needing. The books & interviews are draining. Hopefully they can get it all the need for publicity out of their systems & move forward like the rest of society.
