Duggars & Dillards

The Dillards are enjoying family time in Arkansas as they prepare to return to the mission field. Following the theme of Columbus Day, Derick Dillard posted a devotion about the incredible truths available for discovery in God's Word. He also shared a handful of new photos.

  16. I thought they already returned to the mission field. Didn't they have a farewell party that their donors were invited to? I am confused. If they are still in the states, when are they returning to Central America?

  17. Is Israel on that blanket because he is being blanket trained? They need to explain their system.

    1. I always put a blanket down for my babies. ..it was not blanket training but for cleanliness if they put their mouth on the ground. ..at least until they started crawling. ..

  21. The Seewalds and Dillards are beautiful families. Is it any wonder that Israel is so adorable. His smile is contagious. It was wonderful to see Grandma Cathy looking so well. Derek, the idea of tying Colonbus Day to the "discovery" of God's Word is brilliant! You need to be in seminary. It feels like you are called to ordained ministry.

  22. Good that they are able to visit often so that Israel can form that special bond with both sides of the family. It would be sad if they had to miss out on his first year. Such nice pictures. Thanks for sharing. Blessings to all!

  27. @Anonymous I was about to say the same thing. The banner needs to be up-dated. Those kids are growing up.

  28. The banner at the top of this blog needs to be up-dated. Those kids are growing up! Israel is huge now! (To be fair he always was a big baby.) Do they own a house in Central America (where they are doing mission work) or do they rent a place?

  29. To anonymous #22, the Dillard's, the Duggar's and the Seewald's do not "need to explain their system". Ellie and Lily are gracious enough to share what the Dillard's and Duggar's and Seewald's are willing to disclose and not one of them owes anything to you or to me or to the public period. If we do not have anything nice to say, what we "need" to do is wait until we do have something nice/positive, and then post it! :)

  30. Re Anna Duggar.. My hear goes out to her. Josh's cheating IS NOT HER FAULT! I hope Anna is not visiting Josh at the rehab place because a 5th pregnancy is not the answer to this marital problem. I am still surprised that Anna hasn't left & permanently returned with her kids to Florida. I hope Anna's family is providing support for her.

  31. As I looked at Grandma Dillard's happy face, I was struck by the thought of how she had survived cancer and can spend this valuable time with her cute grandson. And wow, the Dillard boys do look like twins, like Jim-Bob said on the show when they met. I loved seeing Israel's very cute face and everyone enjoying time with him.

  33. We just wondered how Derrick's mother's health was. We know she had been quite sick when Derrick and Jill got married and wondered if she was still doing well after such a health scare.
We love all of you and hope someday that people are going o see what a mistake they made by taking your sho off the air. Regardless we are all connected by our hearts. Love to all.

  37. This is a place for happy positive posts about good things. We don't have to focus on the negative. If we don't dwell on the bad stuff then life is so much better!

  38. Thank you Jill and Derick for sharing these photos of your precious family. Glad to see some pictures of Derick's family with Israel. Israel is just so cute he has such a sweet smile and he looks very happy.

  39. Oh he's so cute! To Anon 22, could it be it's just a picture of him sitting o his blanket? I have lot's of pictures of my babies sitting on blankets. I have never heard of "blanket training". I don't want to go off topic so I'm going to Google blanket training.

Speaking of returning to the mission field, it's very important that we people of faith pray for their safety. I have several friends who are serving in Central American and some of the areas are very dangerous. In some places even the police can't be trusted from what the missionaries are saying so keep them in prayer as they prepare to go back.

Thank you Lilly and Ellie for taking the time to do this blog. I know it's a lot of work especially moderating the hundreds of comments that come through. God bless you both!

  40. Will they go back to Central America for a week or so and come right back for the birth of baby seewald?

  41. @Anonymous To Anonymous 34, I think it is reasonable to ask if, why, and how they use blanket training since the impression displayed via TLC and the Duggars' own social media is that they only use positive encouragement and religious teachings to discipline their children. Blanket training is known to incorporate physical discipline and the Duggars have endorsed this method. However, the explanation of blanket training Michelle gives is benign and very different than what is typically defined as blanket training. So we are left to wonder, is Michelle being honest about how this method has been used in their home since their explanation does not match the mainstream definition? I think it is reasonable, compassionate, and responsible to ask if the Duggars inflict physical discipline on infants and children when they are using the phrase "blanket training" to describe an activity that goes on in their home.

  42. Just curious, where are the Dillard's living while back in the US? In their old house or with family?

    ReplyDelete
  43. @Anonymous #35, that remark towards the Duggar-Keller's isn't quite the nicest thing to write when you say that "your heart goes out to her". If you'd really want to help her, try to express your feelings with nice words.

  45. I would be interested in hearing how blanket training works, as well, and if they are using it. I had never heard of it until this family. Is it like training a dog to "sit" and "stay"? (Not being sarcastic -- honest question.)

  46. To #35 -- I heard that Anna has left the Duggars and returned to her parents.

  47. There's nothing wrong or harsh about what #35 said. If you have a different opinion, no need to reprimand other posters who don't agree with you.

  51. The baby is sitting on what appears to be a rug and people have tried to turn that into some kind of abuse. Why won't people leave this family alone. They are going through alot right now and need our prayers.

  56. No need to respond, Just want your entire family to know that I miss keeping up with you all. I was an avid fan and never missed an episode. People need to be more open minded and not so high and mighty. We are not to judge. We all make mistakes in life and no one is perfect. Hold your heads up high; you are a beautiful family!
