First Glimpse of Upcoming Specials

As we revealed last month, TLC will soon bring Jill (Duggar) Dillard and Jessa (Duggar) Seewald and their growing families back to reality TV. The network just released additional details and a promo video for the upcoming mini series. Jill & Jessa: Counting On, a three-part special, kicks off in December. Check out this teaser:

    1. I highly doubt Christ has anything to do with this decision. It breaks my heart to think that people actually believe Christ would care about a reality tv show where people make money. I truly think Christ would be more concerned with poverty, violence and the earth's environment. It is a tv show after all.

  8. We face trials in our life. People can be so mean, but these trials will only make us strong if we put our trust in God . So glad you are going to make a comeback to TLC! I admire your faith in GOD and family values! I will not judge another. I have sin and Christ died for me. I am forgiven.

  13. I watched the trailer for this show, and I find it curious that these girls feel the way they do about things...since they have gone on record that their experiences with Josh those years ago were "no big deal:, they don't "remember it happening",, how is it that they suffer, cry, etc now? Are they just sorry that it all came out? How can they be devastated by something that wasn't anything to them? IMO, this show will be boring.

    1. I believe that the Duggars had dealt with their feelings about what happened years ago with Josh and had moved on, primarily because they believed what he did was an aberration and that he had changed. This is not what they are upset about. What has been more devastating to them was all the current stuff about Josh cheating on Anna and the fact that he had been lying to everyone for years.

    2. They have every right to hurt now! Sealed records were leaked by a lesbian police chief with an agenda. They were shocked, hurt, and angry by the hatefulness towards their entire family. Words do hurt people. We should all use our words to lift people up, love on them, and give them hope. Unfortunately there are a lot of angry people who love to hurt others with their words instead.

      Delete
    3. I can fully understand the differences in their reactions. I am guessing that their first reaction was to Josh's problem as a youth. The whole "Ashley Madison" reveal was more recent. I don't think the family knew about it until shortly before the public did. The girls saw the previous incident as a youthful indiscretion - wrong but perhaps not so serious in their eyes. However, when these latest allegations against Josh came to light, I'm sure the girls realized that their brother's problem's were deeper and more serious than they had thought.

    4. I thought they were refering to Josh's infidelity.

    5. If you don't have any thing positive to say please don't say anything at all. If you don't like the dugars then you don't have to read this blog. no body is forcing you to read this. P.S so exited Jill and Jessa are coming on TLC!!!!!!!!

    6. I thank they are talking about Josh cheating on Anna.

    7. Julie, I feel the need to clarify that the records were NOT sealed, due to the fact that Josh was never charged. InTouch had requested access to the records through FOIA, and the police chief was simply obeying the law and doing her job by providing the documents. This doesn't make it morally right, but she followed the law, and indeed would have been in trouble if she did not comply with the FOIA. It has absolutely nothing to do with her sexuality, or any agenda. However unfortunate the release of the records is, it was not at all illegal. Just wanted to clarify :)

      Delete
    8. To annon regarding the lesbian police chief...a judge released the information. If it was in fact sealed, the judge would not have released the retracted information. Also, I wonder why you feel the need to say the police chief was a lesbian. It seems that you are judging someone based on their sexual orientation, and as a Christian, we are not to judge anyone as it is not our job to do so. It is not necessary to point out someones sexual orientation just to do so.

They have no idea how you all are feeling and just want to cause pain. Ignore them, trust in the Lord and depend on Him and know that that there are those that love you and support you!! Jill I was wondering if you and Derrick and Israel are going back into the mission field? Should I still support you monetary? I'm also praying, but it would be great to know how to pray for you all!!! Love you guys!

  28. I am happy at least some of them are back on tv as I enjoyed watching that show.....However, I hate TLC...I believe they threw that family under the bus at one of the worst possible moments in that family's life and now they are trying to figure out how wiggle out of their decision to continue to make a buck....I mean if people wanted reality television, well guess what....what they went through as a family was Reality - horrible reality. Other than the Duggar family, I have no use for TLC....

    ReplyDelete
  29. I am so happy we are going to see the Duggars again on TV. I love all the Duggars and have been praying for each of you. I have supported you always. God is going to bless you more than you can imagine.

  30. @Anonymous

I guess you have to watch more than the TLC snippet for the frame of reference of the comment. I would think the horrible things being said about their family and the shame brought on by Josh in such a public way is devastating. Can you imagine everyone knowing your family's worst sins and it being blasted all over magazines and tv? Your face being put on the front page in every grocery aisle overshadowing everything that is good and positive in your life? Watching your family members go through pain and suffering, think of Anna and what she's going through, just having a new baby and everything. So sad. Glad to see TLC is bringing the girls back in a positive light- life goes on.

  35. I so miss seeing the family but it will be wonderful to see what they have in store for us come December. God Bless each of them.

  36. I wish TLC would recognize that many of us would prefer to see the younger kids over these two girls.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It's not just up to TLC (or the viewers). The younger kids are minors, so any filming involving them must be approved by Jim Bob and Michelle. Most likely they are not ready for that kind of exposure to resume given everything that has happened. I believe this is a wise choice for them and the kids. Jill and Jessa are adults and can make their own decisions.

  37. I hope you post recaps because who knows when or if we will get to see the specials in Australia. Jess's wedding had not yet aired in Australia when the show was taken off the air. We missed so much of the show.

  38. Can't wait to see the girls in their new lives.

  39. @Cynthia
Anon...15, You are confusing two events in their lives. The one was no big deal, but the other was a very big deal.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Jill and Jessa are doing things just the way they should. Facing all their emotions - anger, hurt, confusion - and being able to talk about it. All those feeling are valid and will surface from time to time. But they are handling it in such a healthy way. And in spite of it all, they are looking forward to their futures, as they should. These are beautiful, intelligent, grounded women with so much to which they can look forward.

    ReplyDelete
  41. You can see how painful it still is for Jill. I can't imagine what she's been through but I have a hard time understanding why the family doesn't step out of the spotlight so they can heal.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Awesome! I've missed the Duggars so much and can't wait to see these new shows! They have all suffered a lot but they are strong and like they said, there is still so much to rejoice about even in the midst of such difficult times. I'm so happy to see them moving forward with their lives. God bless them!

so glad to see the girls and their families.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Then don't watch it. One family member's sins have crushed this entire family. Of course they are all hurt. I think the remarks that the girls made were after news of being touched while they were sleeping, and he was 14. I think word that their brother was having sex outside of his marriage, being on certain websites, which caused the show to be cancelled could cause the sisters to cry.

  49. So chuffed to hear new shows will be airing on TLC USA,do you have any idea when TLC UK will be airing these new shows? The UK has alot of Duggar fans & as it is we have missed out on getting to see both Jill & Jessa get married, the birth of Jill & Dericks son,,Isrial David,Anna have her 4th child,Merridith Grace,we may also miss out on the nearing birth of Ben & Jessas 1st child,Joys 18th birthday at the end of this month,Jingers 21st in December & not forgetting the fact of Josiah & Marjories courtship.
I,as a UK resident will really miss watching the Duggars,i think, what would be really nice now, base a new show between Jill & Jessas homes, all the kids should be able to visit their homes as normal, the only people at present that should not be on any of the shows should be JOSH,MICHELLE & JIM BOB,why should all the other members of the family suffer cause of the actions of the 3 people who were supposed to be the ones that the rest of the 18 kids looked up to?
Im sorry if ive upset or affended anyone who has read this, but i feel very strongly about whats gone on within the walls of their home & beyond, ive my own ideas & thoughts about why things turned sour for Josh, but the one thing i will say is this, please do not think it was anyone elses fault about what we have been hearing during the past 5 months, the main 2 people to blame are the parents, been to strict with regards to the private side of life in adulthood,,Josh did wrong all those years,he was never really punished as such for what he did,the parents said they would sort it all out so they send Josh away for a few weeks then when he gets home it would appear that whats been done has been brushed under the carpet.
Years later unfortunatly the past has come back to haunt them.
Very sad,i just hope that whatever Anna decides to do for herself & her 4 lovely children, she is left alone & not given a difficult time about her decision.
Anna has been a wonderful wife & a fabulous mum to her 4 children, she moved from FLORIDA to live with Josh near to his family, she hardly knew most of his family so wont have been easy for the 20 year old,she supported Josh when they made the decision to move over 1000 miles away to Washington DC,Anna had only given birth to Marcus Anthony the week before, poor lass gave birth then had to pack her home up,move home thn unpack & get unsettled kids settled again, then this time,Anna is 7 months pregnant & all the news stuff begun so the poor lass heavily pregnant(YET AGAIN,)has to upsticks & move all the way back to where they moved from just 2 years ago.
I feel sad for Anna,Josh couldnt have treated her any worse than he has,im disgusted with him at present but i do wish him well for the future but i do think it maywell be without his beloved wife Anna & their 4 children.
Good luck Jill & Jessa over the next few months with all your trips, the birth of baby Seawald & the new TLC shows, thinking about you all & may god bless you all.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    ReplyDelete
  52. @Anonymous I think they are hurting now because of the additional information that came out about Josh. It had nothing to do with the girls or their family, it was all Josh. So, yes they are hurt for what he did and how it's effected their family. So, completely separate from their earlier statements.

  53. So excited to see the new shows. The title is curious. I hope it means for many more shows to come. We miss seeing the Duggars. Hopefully as time goes on, we'll see other family members too. They are a huge part of Jill and Jessa's life. Sad to see that Jill is leaving before Jessa's baby comes, I'm sure it was so hard for her to get on that plane.

  60. What I am wondering is WHY should the Duggar parents be ostracized? Why is this their fault? Are you/we all responsible for everything our kids do?? We can all 'judge' or give our opinions on what Michelle and Jim Bob should have done about Josh. But none of us know what they did actually or what we would have done in their place. Sooooooo easy to judge. They obviously never dreamed just how deep Josh was into this mess, until things kept unfolding. I'm sure initially they just thought it was a one time incident. Who would have taken their under-age kid to the Police when they'd never had any other incidents prior and thought they could handle it as a parent? I wish the whole family was coming back. They would have so much they could discuss and help other with.

  61. so can't wait.... God will prevail.... super excited to see you guys coming back... now some decent TV to watch

  62. I hope I can watch your shows on something other than TLC. I kind of lost respect for the network. You don't punish people when they are down on their luck and are having troubling times. TLC did that. I wish all the Duggars the very best and love watching them grow and thrive even during difficult times.

  65. I used to watch 19 Kids and counting all of the time. I must say that it bothers me that the Duggar's have tried to stay in the public eye instead of removing themselves from their 'celebrity' life after Josh's scandal. I can no longer view the Duggar's to the standards that I thought they portrayed. Sometimes I think when families shut their family out from all the bad in the world, when the child becomes an adult, they don't know how to handle the freedom and bad things happen. I wish the Duggar's would teach their kids to deal with real world situations instead of living isolated lives. I feel for the younger Duggar kids. As a previous fan, I wish them well but I wish them a life out of the spotlight. I will not be watching the shows as they no longer interest me. Good luck to the Duggar's...live your lives out of the spotlight. No good can come from living in the spotlight. Please post as there is nothing offensive about my comment.

  68. I am very happy to see Jill and Jessa and their families going forward with a show. Good for you TLC, honestly even Josh's problems can't be any worse than some of the other stuff on TLC like Strange Addictions, 700 pound life, or Some of the sexually oriented shows. In fact sexual addiction is a big problem that.needs to be examined, but I am glad Jill and Jessa are not running and hiding from the media blitz that tried to blast them out.

  69. This is wonderful news. All the stone throwers need to check their own family for flaws and sin . A Christian family is not free from falling from grace.
The show is a good measure of what can happen if we don't stay near God. We as humans move from God. Familys are vital for a cohesive society.
Can't wait for the new airings.

  70. I think Christ is concerned about everything here on earth. He doesn't have to pick and choose. If there's a purpose for this family being on TV or not being on TV, God can use anything and everything for His glory.

  74. I was once a fan of the Duggars but I'm worried about the path that they've chosen. They seemed to have forgotten what they once taught and are now so focused on chasing the next paycheck. I can understand TLC wanting to air the Duggars since they're a big company and only care about the bottom line but I thought the Duggars were different. I will be actively protesting, e-mailing, and calling all the companies that are going to sponsor these specials and try and get them to change their minds. Thank you.

  75. I'm just glad that the girls are being given a voice.I care more about that, than I do about getting to see them on television again. Even before the Josh Duggar scandals, I thought the show should move on to follow the adult Duggars who are (quickly! ) growing the next generation.... but after 19K&C was axed because of the first scandal, and I saw how the only way these girls would have a voice as victims... of sexual abuse AND the media, I thought "How unfair to throw their personal, private struggles from childhood out there as 'gossip fodder' for the masses...and then pull the plug on their show, which is their only outlet to speak up for themselves." Okay.... so they gave Jill and Jessa a two part interview. That's it.I honestly believe that part of the reason they chose to do the interview was to protect Jinger and Joy Anna... from who knows how long of relentless media and "fans" pursuing the identity of the victims and more details of the abuse they suffered. Our society is sickening, the way we hang on to human tragedy for our own entertainment...but it's the Duggars that drank the koolaid? Give that one a bit of thought...especially the mothers out there who have young children and choose not to censor their TV/computer/video game habits.

  77. I truly miss watching 19 kids and counting. I luv this wonderful family, although they have their secrets, no one on this earth is perfect.

I also miss seeing the other large family, the Bates family...

  79. Yes!!! I would love to see more of the Duggars. Thanks TLC!!! Then do a 3 part series on John David and Janna, on Anna and the kids, Jinger and Joseph and down the line!!! I love the Duggars!! I could care less about shows looking for gold, for survival shows, for shark or alligator killing shows, I want the Duggars!!!! I don't watch other kinds of shows

  80. It boggles my mind that some people are still ranting that they are mad because the Duggars chose to be on tv. As Christians who are supposed to be witnesses for Christ to the world, you couldn't get a more widely encompassing witnessing tool than the medium of television!
They are doing a good thing by showing us how a good Christian family lives and deals with things.

I think that if you use arguments like this to trash the Duggars saying that you "used to be fans, but", in reality you were never fans at all.

  84. @AnonymousI don't believe they were referring to the "experiences" with Josh. I believe they were referring to the further revelations regarding him, and the total affect it had on the family. He was leading a double life, and it would devastate ANYONE, ANY family.

IF, in your opinion, the show will be boring....don't watch. You are free to change the channel, as are you free to disengage from the blog. If the "show" will be boring, this must be mind numbing for you.

  86. I would like to clarifyfor everyone complaining about the Duggars being punished for what Josh did. TLC did not want to cancel the show, for the simple reason that it made the network a lot of money. Fact is, the advertisers started pulling out. It costs a huge amount of money to produce a tv series and only happens with advertising dollars. Please educate yourselves . TLC kept the show on as long as they could financially do so. Maybe you could all pay to keep it on the air.
