Photos of Jill Duggar and Her Fiance

This summer, Jim Bob Duggar will walk his first daughter down the aisle. You can look forward to watching the wedding of Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard on TLC's 19 Kids and Counting. Click here to read the details of Derick's romantic proposal.

After the couple ties the knot, Jill Duggar will become Jill Dillard. Dill pickles are a Duggar favorite, so the name fits perfectly. (In case you were wondering, Jill's middle name is Michelle.)

 Engaged and in love

The couple didn't start holding hands until after Derick popped the question

  6. Ahhh it's just SO cool that Jill and Derick met up in Kathmandu. It's definitely a wonderful story fused with international and global touches <3 So keen to see where God takes them in the future!

  7. While I agree it is of superior importance not to act on every feeling of attraction, it worries me these Duggar children may be confusing marriage and motherhood with sexual attraction. Since their feelings are suppressed by the parents, i.e., having to discuss them with the parents which seems odd, I am concerned they are confused that they may have found their life partner, when in fact, they are feeling normal attractions and "puppy love." Oh, well, they aren't my kids. I just see some divorces down the road. Only time will tell if this extremely sheltered relationship imposed on these children will actually do more harm than good.

    1. Those girls have had a great deal of guidance from their parents. Read the book they wrote! They are not going to fail because they are doing what today's couples considering marriage should be doing. I'd worry more about young people who are buying homes, then having children, and then maybe marriage! These girls know what they want and have a deep commitment to do it God's way! He never fails.

  8. So happy for Jill and Derick!!! I can't get over how similar he looks to Aaron Rodgers (the most amazing quarterback EVER!) though!!! I can't wait to see all the wonderful things God has planned for the two of them, as well as Jessa and Ben. Such an exciting time right now!!!!

  9. Hi. I think Ben and Derick didn't grow up on tater tot casserole and pickles, hence the Duggar's were shown grilling fresh green and red peppers at a dinner with Ben there. Never saw fresh green and red peppers grilling on a Duggar show before these two showed up! These two boys may be a blessing to turn around the eating habits of this large family. Good work, guys! Now if you can get the Duggar's to open up a landfill and get rid of all the styrofoam cups and paper plates once and for all, I really love you two guys!

  13. Has anyone else noticed the duggar gorls skirts are shorter, tighter and they spend more time on outward appearance? Not trying to be rude at all. Just know they're a big influence and other Christians will think it's ok cause duggars are doing it. Bates girls , too dress similar. I see women in pants that are more modest. They just look like the world to us and has been disturbing. Thx

    1. Yes!!!! I have too noticed this. My nine year old daughter asked me why the Duggar girls clothes is tight now and if they were worldly. I told her they were mot worldly but their dress shoes otherwise. It is fine to want to look pretty but I think they have crossed a line. My daughter loves the Duggars but I don't want her to think it's okay, ya know ? I hope their eyes open. Thanks for this comment. I have been concerned myself

    2. If the girls were wearing skin tight clothing, low cut tops and mini skirts, that would be a reason for comment. These girls show young women how to dress trendy and still stay modest. If you notice, the shorter skirts still cover their knees. The older Duggar girls aren't girls anymore, they are young women. I feel they still dress very modestly, and commend them for setting an example.

  14. You have git me confused, you say they are nit alowed to holding hands, but they can have their arms around eachother? You see that on almost every picture, i don't understand. What is there against holding hands, I realy don't get it.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Klara, they decided to wait to hold hands until after they were officially engaged, which they are now. That is why you see them with their arms around each other & also being a little more affectionate than Ben & jessa who are (as far as we know) currently NOT engaged.

  15. To all who have doubts, this kind of courtship works! I have been married to the only man I ever courted/dated. We always had chaperones, and we never touched until we kissed at the altar, and we now share the sweetest relationship BECAUSE we have absolutely NO baggage behind us and no heartaches from other past relationships. I love and respect my husband even more now than the day I married him. Thank you Duggars, for the courage and determination to do it the God's way in spite of the world's criticism. You will never regret doing it God's way! His way is perfect. II Samuel 22:31

  16. WOW! Congratulations to them both. I've always thought the man who landed Jill Duggar would hit the marital lottery. But, I think she has done equally well. They both seem like cute, sweet people with huge hearts. I wish them nothing but the best and will be praying for their future to be very bright. Love the ring from Israel. Well done, Derick. Once again, CONGRATS!!!

  20. Scandal? Does Jill have her hand on Derrick's abdomen in the first picture? Does anyone realize that what JimBob and Michelle are doing is NOT chaperoning? A chaperone is to remain "in the shadow", is non intrusive to the couple and gives the couple space. These girls and their "special friends" have Jimbob and Michelle on their backs at all times. That's a heavy weight to bear.

    1. This comment is a bit insulting to Jim Bob and Michelle, at least to me. What is not seen on the tv set is in the new book the girls wrote and "Growing Up Duggar" is excellent reading! Chock full of just how much their parents have filled their roll as parents. These kids are very solid in character and very mature for their age!

Derick & Jim Bob have been prayer partners for quite a while, and then Jill & Derick began communicating but hadn't met. She approached her parents with a desire to meet him for the first time where he was at that time because she has wanted to go overseas to work and she wanted to see him "at work".

  25. @Jessi As a person who didn't go this route, but became a Christian during our twenty one year marriage, I can really understand what they mean, as I have many regrets and heartaches in my past, and now have my for life marriage to a man that I also grow to love and respect more and more as time passes, yet I almost missed out on this wonderful man because I wasn't thinking with my mind.

A person who accompanies and looks after another person or group of people.

I know the show doesn't really show it, but each person in a courtship decides what they will and will not do during each stage leading up to the wedding and the chaperone holds them accountable to what they have already decided.

  27. I dont get it. It was said that they are not allowed to hold hands. only side hugs. On one hand i dont understand why because side hugs are for me as close as holding hans.. but ok.. on the other hand they are holding hands on a lot of pictures?
I also noticed that the skirts became tighter and shorter.. but i like that fact..
in one picture they side hug very close and jill is not so much sideways... so it seems to be ok like this..

    ReplyDelete
  28. oh and how did they get to know? only through Jim bob?and is there only way to get to know each other skyping while the parents sit next to them?

  33. @Anonymousmaybe it would be refreshing to you,as family oriented Jill is im sure she would think otherwise, the more the merrier. I wish there were hundreds of thousands of families like the Duggars, just imagine how kind this world would be.

  34. It seems you don't trust your girls on dates they can't even hold hands with there soon to be husbands even when they are chaperoned. It would be nice to see your kids with a voice and speak out instead of mocking every thing you and Bob say.

  38. @Jessi and you have never been able to truly get to know him because there is NO privacy! Growing couples need to be able to know each other's feelings about certain topics and what their deepest emotions are. When you have a chaperone listening to every word you say, there is no chance for true intimacy. This has nothing to do with sex, but emotional intimacy.

  39. Congratulations Derrick and Jill. You both look very very happy and in love. I'm so happy for you both! Mr and Mrs Duggar have set such a beautiful example in every way of a parents love for their children. The amount of love, happiness, commitment and time Mr and Mrs Duggar have for each other and their family is incredible when you see their marriage is healthy, loving and strong nearly 30 years later and with 19 children God has blessed them with. This family is a beautiful example all over the world and a testimony of when you walk with God.

  42. Anonymous 15: The Duggars and the Bates both shine for Jesus in ways that make their outward appearance not matter anymore. All these beautiful young ladies are radiant, and I can honestly tell you I've never seen anyone pull of such gorgeous modesty. I've seen older women in pants dress more modestly, but keep in mind these are younger ladies, not older ones. Thanks.

  48. People- who cares if she has her hand on his abdomen? Good grief... The Duggars are such an inspiration to me...I am very thankful that I don't live in a fishbowl! People can be so critical.... take the log out of your own eye before you take the fleck out of someone elses

  49. I know hand holding is forbidden during courtship but I noticed Jill was holding hands in one photo. Shouldn't the rule of holding hands apply to all the girls? Not being rude I'm a loyal watcher of the Duggars shows going all the way back to 14 kids and counting. Just curious.

  50. I am so happy for Jill, she really deserves a good man who supports her and her dreams! I am just slightly concernd about the young Duggar Kids, Jill really loved them and vice versa, i think she is like a second mom for them and it must be sad that she leaves them.

    ReplyDelete
  51. What's the matter with her having her hand slightly on his chest? It is in some other pictures! It's not like that's some major thing! Really you think it's a scandal? Well that makes me mad. Just because she has her hand there doesn't mean she has broke the betrothal rules. I mean really, let her put her hand on his chest if she wants to in a PICTURE. And that was for the magazine, they probably asked her to do that.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Anonymous 26: The Duggars are hands off and only holding hands after the engagement. THEY make it a big deal to touch one another before the ring is on the bride's finger. It goes against their own rules. Calm down there! I think their rules are unnecessarily severe. IMO

    ReplyDelete
  53. What a beautiful couple! I pray god continues to bless you all! Congratulations on the engagement it is well deserved!

  54. How do you get to post a comment on here? Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  55. With the Duggars' conservative lifestyle courting rules, hands on chests, are not allowed until after the wedding. It goes against the purity thing.. which I think if you marry and are a virgin, that's keeping pure, anything else, is just over the top and unnecessarily severe, like they are.

    ReplyDelete
  56. The fact that there are so many kids will make it much easier on the younger ones as the older ones leave.

    ReplyDelete
  57. @Anonymous@23 Jill sure is glowing...way more than Jessa!

    ReplyDelete
  58. @Anonymous@26--the "scandal" part is because the Duggar parents regard it as wrong! The rest of the mainstream word don't even take a second look!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I thought the "controversial" picture some are speaking of with Jill placing her hand on his chest shows how comfortable these two are together. There is a certain warmth and positive affection in the gesture. Looks natural, not awkward- refreshing in my opinion.

  63. Re Anon 64, Why the comparison that Jill....way more than....etc ? I do not see what this comment is talking about. Jessa has a special glow in all the photos I saw of her and Ben. This is not a competition, it is 'love'!

  70. I don't see anything questionable about the girl's clothing, but then, I hadn't started watching the show regularly but for the last few months. I think it's refreshing to see young ladies dressed modestly and actually not ashamed of being submissive to parents and their rules for courtship. I think it's a beautiful thing and we should see more of this and less of the trash of the world.
The glow from Jill is so amazing...really nice to see young women not ashamed to stay pure....

Than you Dug gars, remember the couples are setting their own contact rules.God Bless them and their wedding and marriage.

  79. I applaud the Duggars for wanting the kids to be modest. However, I have wondered why they think skirts are more modest than pants. And there are shorts available that are as long as some of the skirts. They are a very active family and I would think pants would be much more modest/appropriate for things such as horse back riding and playing. Pants cover everything to the ankles unlike some of the skirts.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I can't speak for the Duggars, but most of the women I know who opt for skirts are not making a judgement call on the modesty of skirts vs pants, it's just obedience to Deut 22:5 (which some say is no longer relevant because it is from the old law). If you believe this instruction is still valid, then in our culture even though most women now wear pants at times, skirts are a garment primarily still worn only by women, so they "pertain to women" in a way pants do not. I dress this way myself with few exceptions, and can tell you most of us do wear bike shorts, leggings or split slips (like slinky shorts) underneath for modesty, because you are right - sometimes it's a lot easier to be modest in pants!

  80. I have wondered how the couples can truly get to know each other with their parents listening to everything they said. Even if nothing they are saying to each other is inappropriate, there are things you want to discuss about your dreams, what you expect after marriage, etc. that you should have right to keep between you and your fiance.
