Funny but I do not think Amy's comment that all that preaching made her want a tat more was too funny. Most if the viewers watching are Duggar fans who are Christian & kids as well... Not very wholesome values... I don't think I'm going to continue watching I will just stick to the 19 Kids & Counting....
That is not funny at all! Good for Grandma Duggar and Amy's mom! I did not enjoy this video, the part that I watched. I know she thought it was a funny joke and all, but it was not right. She was disrespectful, and not honoring her mom and Grandma, and her shirt was awful!
If this is the Duggars website where Christian values are proclaimed then why are you l posting Amy's clips who obviously does not have the same values?! Especially seeing how children do get on this site & parents do expect it to be safe with Christian values. Not cousin Amy singing country music & saying she might come back for a tattoo. Oh and commenting that Grandma is preaching again like its s bad thing...I'm not liking this :(
Ha-ha Amy!!!! You just wanted to see the true character of Mum and Grandma, hey?!!! You're like a little puppy stretching out to see how long your leash is!!! Have fun in Nashville!!!!
Well she said if she got a record deal in 6 months she would be back to get one. Well I think she done herself in. Does she think the Lord is going to bless her now, and for her to say "when her grandmother was reading scripture" that it makes her want to do it, said a lot about her, and which way she is going.Really sad, will be praying for her.
The Lord's blessing isn't based on what we do or don't do. We are all sinners and deserve NOTHING. Its only by His grace. I believe that God knows Amys heart and I don't believe for 1 second that it was meant maliciously. This 1 thing says a lot about her? I'm so very thankful that He does not hold our "1 thing" against us. I pray you have a real revelation of God. We are not called to be perfect. Amy has and is going to continue to make mistakes as we all are. Let's focus on coming alongside Amy as a fellow christian with encouragement and love instead of judgement.
Haha wow! I love Grandma Duggar. :) I hope Amy doesn't really ever get a tattoo.
I love the Duggars...Grandma and Amy are two of my favorites. I hope Amy does well in Nashville, I would love to see her get a record deal, she has a great voice and I love her spunckiness! Even though I don't care for tattoos myself, if Amy did get one, it wouldn't stop me from watching her show. Besides Grandma's scripture reference for Amy to not get one was out of context.Still love them all though!
Wow. That was just awkward, and not really cute or funny at all. Pull a prank, but make it a good one! Don't put your poor family in such a stressful situation. A tattoo might not be a big deal to most, but it clearly was distressing to Grandma Duggar and Amy's mom.
That wasn't very kind, was it! I don't like this.
That was not one bit funny!!! I think it was actually really mean on her mum and Grandma! And btw that was not what any of the other Duggars would have done, so it really wasn't the Duggars way!.... I think she should be shamed to be seen acting this way. I hope she never really gets a tattoo! Grandma was right in all what she said! Thank God for grandmas!
Getting a tattoo is not a sin, per se. In my opinion, Grandma Duggar was taking those verses waaaay out of context. The verse in the OT that talks about not marking your body prefers to self-mutilation that was a part of pagan worship practices. And as for the "mark of the beast" verse, I don't think tattoos are that mark. Getting a tattoo is a personal decision one needs to make between themselves & God, just like with watching TV or wearing certain clothes, or drinking alcohol, etc. There is no clear-cut rule in the Bible.
Wow, that was kind of awful. The idea itself wasn't that bad, but you could see that her grandma especially was really concerned for her. The fact that she kept going and even mocked her grandma for having a Bible shows that she is disrespectful. The fact that she said it made her really want to get one shows that she's rebellious. What's in your heart comes out your mouth! She is in a dangerous spot if she's got that attitude and trying to strike out on her own.
Lol I thought it was funny. Some of you are taking this too seriously. If she wants to get a tattoo let her get a tattoo. I'm Christian too and I thought it was a cool tattoo
Well I am glad I saw this so I can delete the show off our iTunes account and not allow my young impressionable kids watch it. I had a bad feeling about it before I even saw this... I feel bad for Jim Bob and Michelle because they've worked so hard to follow God and be a light to the world and Amy is just purposely stirring up trouble and laughs about it. The world needs to see something different and she is looking too much like everyone else.
That was a horrible prank! I'm surprised that Amy's mom didn't just give her a flat "no". This really saddens me. I don't think I'm going to watch Amy any more. It's just to sad to see her ruin herself.
The puppy analogy is a stretch because Amy is the eldest grandchild and she ell knows the true character of Mom and Grandma, she knew they would 'freak' and that was her prank. Amy was not testing the limits she was using them to get a demonstration of righteousness out of her elders and she was especially mocking her Grandmother doing that. Then Amy clearly stated seeing the word declared over her just made her want more to get a tattoo. It is more like Amy wanted a clear definition of the limits so she could state at that point she would therefore like the more so to ignore them. Maybe Amy is going after a rebel image, not a cute untrained puppy image.
making want me to do it referred to the prank!!! Love families that can laugh together. be joyful always
This video clip made me sick at my stomach - rebellion pretty much sums it up. Definitely not the reason I watch the Duggar family. Thanks for sharing this, I will be skipping this part if it is in the new episode.
oh come on, it's no worse than Josiah pretending to drop a baby infront of photographers. it's a joke, love grandma's conviction and quick Bible lesson
That so wasn't funny. Amy defiantly isn't like all the other Duggars.
@AnonymousWhat's wrong with her shirt??
There is nothing wrong with getting a tattoo I dont know why people make such a big deal out it
I love the look on her moms face and then how she lit up after Amy told them she wasn't getting a tattoo
My heart broke for her mom and grandmother and for the many that are being influenced (negatively) by her. She is very honest with her true colors, as sad and confused as they are. Praying she doesn't loose what faith she has as she steps into the world which is ready to devour.* Michele *
I did not think that was funny at all!!!!!!!!!!!! That's horrible!!!!!!!! I do love how Grandma reacts, calmly remind her of what the Bible says, pleading her to change her mind. What an amazing women. It's sad how Amy thinks this is funny, and doesn't care about Grandma's words of advice or what the Bible says. I wish I had a pocket Bible like Grandma's!!!!
Go Grandma! Wasn't a huge fan of this video, but I'm thankful she didn't end up getting the tattoo :)
It shows what Amy really thinks about what God has to say. So glad that Grandma Duggar used Scripture to try to change Amy's mind. This breaks my heart....I didn't realize how disrespectful she is to the Word of God. Hope she never gets a tattoo.
That was just poor...
Amy's behavior was downright nasty in this clip. It is hard to believe that a 27-year-old would act that way.
Ha Ha! Good job Amy! I don't understand why you're all freaking out about it! It was just a fun prank! It was no worse then Josiah pretending to drop a baby to freak out the camera men! She wasn't disrespectful to the Word of God in any way, shape, or form! Just a little prank! If she was REALLY getting a tattoo that would be different! But she wasn't getting a tattoo so just let it go. Love of Jesus to all, Katie
Really felt for Deanna as she looked so distressed by her charming but headstrong daughter. Grandma Dugger is a fantastic lady!!!! Amy would do well to emulate her, as would we all!!
Grandma has spent a lot of time in God's Word (such a great testimony) and she was doing her best to encourage Amy not to do this. This clip saddened me, but it saddened me worse when I heard about this show. Going to Nashville to become a "star" shows her true character, and it's only going to get worse as she pursues her dreams and not the Lord's. I hope the show get cancelled quickly as I think it could bring down the reputation of the other Duggar's.
I wish I could lovingly remind Amy of 1 Sam 15:23(a). (Or add my voice to those who no doubt already have.)
I don't think Amy meant to come across that she was being disrespectful. Really, we're under Grace- not rules- and it's her choice. I believe she may interpret those verses Grandma Duggar was reading differently to the Duggars (as do I- I don't think God thinks it's wrong to have tattoos- it's your heart that matters...I'm more concerned about her low-cut shirt than her getting a tattoo). She was just joking around.
For those Duggar fans who love the Duggars way of life and are a bit critical of Amy, just remember the Duggars love Amy and welcome her into their lives. If you watch this show you will see how a loving Christian woman like Grandma treats a spirited young person like Amy. By her good example and loving support she encourages her to be a better person and form a relationship with Jesus.
Looks like Amy is on the Miley path. My kids won't be watching.
I think its silly ho . Everone is freeing out about a tatoo as long as its taste full and it has meaning to it i don' . See the Proble. ... i hhav . A frw my self before i got saved but i woul . Get Mor . Even now that i am saved just not wordly ones... i have a son and if he was 18 i would let hi . Get one to as long as it wasn't worldly
I know plenty of people who have tattos and. Are saved... and people who have tattoo after they got saved i think Jesus is going to love u anyway
It is important to not spit on those who support you. Being kind and appreciative is super important in achieving lasting success.
Tatoos are fine! The one she chose looked really nice too, it wasn't vulgar or anything... Her mum and Grandma are taking this too seriously, I think.
That was not kind of Amy to pull that kind of prank on her Mom and Grandma. Try another prank idea Amy, this was a flop and not funny or very Christian. Kimberlie
Her mama looked like she was about to cry sometimes. Shame on you Amy! Why would you do that to the woman who gave you life!? Ellen
Tattooing is a form is self-mutilation, period. Back in biblical times people cut themselves and also got tattoos of their "gods" on themselves, all to please the "gods" and were in rebellion against God. Do people actually realize they are in rebellion against God? Most of them probably not, but that doesn't change the truth. Amy's heart attitude is on display clearly in this video and it completely contradicts her "I want my family's approval in everything I do" (watch the episode where she reveals her plan to the family). Point blank, time will tell. I pray for her heart and that whatever she has been through and the hurt and pain she has endured will draw her towards God so she can find healing. Mutilate1. to injure, disfigure, or make imperfect by removing or irreparably damaging parts. How tattoos are doneA tattoo is a permanent mark or design made on your skin with pigments inserted through pricks into the skin's top layer. Typically, the tattoo artist uses a hand-held machine that acts much like a sewing machine, with one or more needles piercing the skin repeatedly. With every puncture, the needles insert tiny ink droplets. The process — which is done without anesthetics — causes a small amount of bleeding and slight to potentially significant pain.Know the risksTattoos breach the skin, which means that skin infections and other complications are possible. Specific risks include:Allergic reactions. Tattoo dyes — especially red, green, yellow and blue dyes — can cause allergic skin reactions, such as an itchy rash at the tattoo site. This can occur even years after you get the tattoo.Skin infections. A skin infection — which might cause redness, swelling, pain and a pus-like drainage — is possible after tattooing.Other skin problems. Sometimes bumps called granulomas form around tattoo ink. Tattooing can also lead to keloids — raised areas caused by an overgrowth of scar tissue.Bloodborne diseases. If the equipment used to create your tattoo is contaminated with infected blood, you can contract various bloodborne diseases — including tetanus, hepatitis B and hepatitis C.MRI complications. Rarely, tattoos or permanent makeup might cause swelling or burning in the affected areas during magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) exams. In some cases, tattoo pigments can interfere with the quality of the image — such as when a person who has permanent eyeliner has an MRI of the eye.
Proverbs 23:9 Do not speak to fools, for they will scorn your prudent words. Proverbs 18:2 Fools find no pleasure in understanding but delight in airing their own opinions. Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 10:8 The wise in heart accept commands, but a chattering fool comes to ruin. Proverbs 12:15 The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice. Proverbs 15:5 A fool spurns a parent’s discipline, but whoever heeds correction shows prudence. 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
WOW!! i wont be watching 19 Kids and counting anymore. I cannot believe how Amy is even on their show because she doesn't have any of their values. The Lord bless them all.
Hmm I find it really strange with so many attrocities going on around us and a lot of these committed in the name of religion or in spite of religious convictions, war, the abduction of 300 girls etc. that most people here are worried about tattoos? Personally I have at least 10 and I am a good human being and mother and also a 47 year old woman. Tattooing is an art form as well as a form of self expression, it does not make you a bad person or a criminal and perhaps your readers who find this art so disrespectful should perhaps spend their time worrying about and helping others that really need it. Instead of using their time as good Christians by judging others on harmless issues that are none of their business.
Wow! I am surprised by all the judgment being placed on Amy right now! It was a joke, and nothing else. And it should be none of our concern as to what Amy chooses to do with her life. One of Jesus Christ's teachings is to Not Judge Others. Yet it seems as though we have all forgotten this teaching! None of us are perfect. We all make mistakes. It is not our place to judge Amy and her actions, and yet it is the very thing that you guys are doing. Please, remember what the Savior taught. Thank you for your time reading this. I do not intend to spark argument, but to merely point something out. That is all.Thank you.
The first quote Grandma Duggar made about tattoos was exactly right on target, look it up. If she got the first one right she knew what she was talking about. The second quote was not out of context, it was just that Grandma by then was past the initial point she made in the entry way and was going into some other very important points the Bible makes about getting a mark on the flesh. Grandma was concerned with the ignorance of Amy and given lack of time was attempting to fully instruct her even in the midst o the pressing situation. Amy showed no hesitation, and Amy was apparently very readily adopting a practise of the world and Grandma knew that the evils of this attitude can be profound - Amy was acting like she would just do anything without even realizing the consequences of her actions. The Bible needs to be read, studied, reflected on and applied to life...Amy is fortunate that she has a Godly Grandmother who is forebearing toward her and leading her in the right way of living, and fortunately for the world TLC has televised this episode.
I think I got it, Grandma was instructing Amy in the way, on the way, the way the Bible says to and Amy acted like Grandma was in the way but Grandma knew she was really in the right way. Get it ?
(Re-posting as I don’t think my post went through) I think it is important for people to know that the issue is not so much Amy wanting a tattoo per se, but the heart behind it and the way she displayed her regard for Scripture. Firstly, on the issue of tattoos and Christianity, there is freedom for a genuinely regenerated/born-again Christian to have tattoos as long as it does not go against their conscience. Read: Romans 14. There are many tattooed Christians who have the same heart for God as the next clean-shaven, non-tattooed Christian. Having tattoos does not mean someone’s salvation is forfeited, and it also certainly does NOT have any bearing to God choosing to save someone (in other words, having tattoos does not mean you stop being a Christian, or cannot ever be a Christian). Furthermore, the biblical texts referring to "markings" require a proper understanding of its context. It does seem that Grandma Duggar has taken the passage she was reading out of its context. What makes this video uncomfortable to watch is the flippancy and irreverence for God’s Word which Amy seems to be displaying here. This is in addition to the fact that Amy knowingly and purposely sought to provoke the spiritual convictions of her Grandma & Mom - she knew that it would freak them out, and cause them to go "all Bible preachy" on her. I’m not exactly sure of her intentions behind that in light of the fact that cameras were filming the whole thing, but it definitely sets Grandma & Deanna up as those “typical conservative fundie evangelicals”.While this act may be indicative of Amy's heart, only the sovereign Lord truly knows the state of her heart. In any case, I personally am very glad that Amy has family members who have a genuine relationship with God and love her deeply, and it's really good to see sound theology making its way into the Duggar family. And to all who say Christians shouldn't judge, please read the ENTIRE passage of Matthew 7 and consider its full context - don't just read the first few lines and turn a blind eye to the whole counsel of God’s Word (also consider 1 Corinthians 5, and the fact that there are serious ramifications to making false professions of faith -- it is INFINITELY MORE loving to confront someone in love, than to let slip such a crucial issue for fear of hurting their feelings).
The needs of the poor are not to be denied but helping the poor does not negate the need to make a right decision about if or not to get a tattoo. Is it alright to murder, commit adultery, bear false witness, steal, if a person is basically a good person and gives some help to the poor?
It was actually a funny prank! Amy understands that tatoos are fine and that you can be Christian even if you have a tatoo (the one she wanted to get was a quote from the Bible) and she was just making fun that her mum & grandma don't understand that. I really thought it was a funny prank :D
This subject really provoked some wonderful exploration of several very important areas pertaining to our faith. Personaly I deeply appreciated the variety of thoughtful and insightful comments. Actually pulled out my scriptures as I read and I learned a few things too! Normally I don't enjoy controversial topics that end up with critcal words for these good people we are watching and writing about, but this was different. Much appreciation!
There were issues raised by Grandma that were desperate warnings to the people that are found in the Bible and comments like Ruby seem to intend to override Grandma's outcry. Don't take it all too lightly, we are in the last days. These shows and these people are part of what God is using to reach people, it is not just idle entertainment.
I don't understand why this video on Amy's Tattoo Prank has been removed.I understand it is a touchy subject....some for and some against tattoo's but thisis reality TV and we all know that Amy is adventurous and up for a prank....if thisis REAL TV then put the video back up !!!!
LILY AND ELLIE I CANN'T SEE THE VIDEO
