  8. I'd assume the older 4 are doing it together? Maybe Joy will contribute some too. Gotta love them! Probably about to settle all those mis-interpretations about who they are, what they do, and why. But yeah; I plan to buy it too. It'll either be for Christmas, or for some special day in 2013; whatever comes first.

  9. The girls are probably writing a book, not only as encouragement to others, but also as a way of addressing the critics. People say the kids aren't able to experience "real life", are kept sheltered well into young adulthood, and aren't given the opportunity to explore or think for themselves. The Duggar girls have been raised in a way that is considered way overly conservative to some, but I've never seen them rebelling, and as a matter of fact, just the opposite-embracing their convictions as a way of life for themselves. In this world today, I consider them nothing less than strong and confident young women.

  10. ycfan, I couldn't agree more!!!
As far as I am concerned these girls are doing what every other girl should be doing, but isn't. I've said to my husband, that more often i see girls scantily dressed, swearing their heads off loudly and making a scene or flirting with boys, sassing their parents or wasting time shopping etc (don't get me wrong, i LOVE shopping!) It's rare to see a girl who honors her parents, cares for her siblings, reaches out to others and loves being at home cooking etc...
Most of the time I hear of older siblings saying how much they hate their younger siblings and never want children of their own and cant wait to move out of home and get a "life" of their own. Not all girls are like this of course, but from what i have seen a large portion of them are. The Duggar girls are a breath of fresh air. I cant wait to hear what they have to say in their book!

  11. Lily and Ellie: Why are you using your God-given talents to operating a blog that is so limited? Why are you devoting so much of your life to the Duggars? It is just pure strange to me that you are devoting so much time, talent, and expertise to such a silly blog. If you got over 500 blog replies in an entire week, that would set a record. Why are you so obsessed with the Duggar family as to spend so many hours of your life to this blog? Are you getting paid? If you are, you are getting paid for the most boring blog on the planet. If you aren't getting paid, please use your considerable Internet talent and expertise to something that matters. The Duggars simply do not matter to 99.999999999% of the population, no matter what their own inflated opinion of themselves is or how much you worship them (warning, Lily and Ellie against false idols). In fact, if you said "Duggar" to 99.99999999999% of American households, they will say "What is a Duggar?"

  13. I can't wait until it's finished! That is such a neat idea. If you'd like to follow a Christian blog for young women, I just started one:

    www.gracefullgirl.blogspot.com

I want it to be a place of discussion, almost like an online Bible study. Please check it out if you get time. I was inspired by Lily and Ellie; I really enjoy their blog:)

  16. @ Mmolsey-YES, I totally agree with you! I am about the age of the older Duggar girls, and I think it's incredibly refreshing to see them act like godly young women, respecting their parents, and just having a fun time with their family!!

And boys are never guilty of these things? It seems to be a one way street in their belief system. Girls are suppose to be the perfect little helpers. Amy Duggar dates, shops hangs out with her friends , wear pants-you know, normal stuff. Does that mean she disrespects her parents? It is good to get along with siblings but we all need friends outside of our family. Some kids swear and dress different away from their parents. We have no idea what really goes on behind the scenes or if they are happy or not. Rebellion is yet to be seen. I want to know their real feelings about this lifestyle but I guess that won't happen. It will just be a sugar-coated response to critics.

  18. Roddma,
It is important for boys to learn these skills too. If for one reason or another they have to live on their own, they need to learn how to survive, i am also dissapointed when i see young men bumming around and not working. The point is we were talking about the duggar GIRLS, not boys. i personally know of a girl who treats her brother like trash, talks disrespectfully about her parents and dresses like a tramp And her mother isnt much better. i have seen girls in parking lots dressed in hankercheifs for dresses screaming and swearing at her parents and siblings. You have also taken me out of context. i said NOT ALL GIRLS ARE LIKE THAT. Amy is pretty respectful to her mum and dad. And i have no problems if she choses to wear pants. it's the low cut tops and dresses mid thigh that some girls wear i have a problem with. Michelle also points out her girls have stronger convictions than they do about wearing skirts and dresses. And i have seen the younger girls increasingly being allowed to wear pants. I also realise that some women prefer to go out and work. or, circumstances dictate that they go out and work. And it's the husband who takes over the role of keeping house. If thats the case, while to me it's not a choice i would make, i don't condemn anyone if they choose to do so. There is nothing wrong with shopping and hanging out with friends as long as it is in moderation and that doesnt tell the world you disrespect your parents. Its your speech and facial expression when you talk about or to your parents that tells all. You see the Duggar girls shopping or hanging out with friends just like any other young lady. The girls make their own choices about what they want to wear and they do so, all Jim bob and Michelle have done is talk to them about the realities of how guys work.

  20. I'd love another book by the Duggars!! Their first two have been a great blessing to me. :)

  21. The way I see, no family is perfect. This is only a 30 minute show. I believe if it weren't for the show they would dress the same way as the early specials. Michelle did say they wear pants on rare occasions. Modesty is great but it isn't a protective shield always. They want you to think the gilts have choices. I have not seen them hang out with friends. If they go anywhere they always shave chaperones. There are plenty of atheist/agnostic families whose kids work hard and respect the parents. Having 19 kids and not one talk back or rebel is unbelievable. I though it was disrespectful when Jim Bob tried to proselytize with the atheist sword swallower in Scotland. I am not trying to lump religions together because I grew up in a Christian environment. I am just saying though some people may not swear or be lazy but they disrespect other cultures and beliefs.

  22. @anonymous 11- Oh brother! If you don't like what you read, then why do you read it? As far as I know, nobody specifically sent this to you to read. Simple solution: don't read ts blog and there will be no bee in your bonnet. As for the Duggars, I can't wait to see a book written from the view of the children. It would be neat to see one written from both the male and female perspectives, although I'm sure it wouldn't be too different. I will definitely be keeping my eyes open for the release of this current book! Any idea if the Bates special will rerun again...I managed to miss both episodes. :(

    Hi Anonymous,

As of now, there are no reruns of the Bates' show scheduled. But they will be back this summer for eight, half-hour episodes.

  24. Ha Ha! sounds like Annonymous March 19 @ 11:42 is grumpy cause someone superglued them to their throne. lol. Seriously though. Who said this is all Lily and Ellie do? Im sure their lives are productive and full of other things. It's just that this is something they enjoy doing. Doesn't mean they worship the Duggars or anything. If there is a family out there, in the public eye that are promoting family unity, hard work, servanthood and christian values then i would want someone to support them and take an interest in their lives. I think you would feel more at home at www.getalife.com
