  1. And as usual we can’t see them (abroad) :(.

  2. I do wish the photos weren't so aorbrushed. Felicity looks like a plastic doll, not a newborn baby... and her parents too

    1. Those pictures aren’t actually extremely airbrushed

    2. I think the baby looks angelic and the parents are gorgeous. I think that's just the way they really look.

  3. Such a precious baby. They are a lovely family

  4. She’s a beautiful baby! And Jinger looks great! However I can’t help but to notice the blue blanket. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen anyone, at least where I’m from, take newborn pics of a newborn baby girl in a blue blanket. Is this a new trend?

    1. It wasn’t blue it was teal

    2. They probably realized you can wrap a baby girl in a blue blanket and the world won't implode.

    3. I don't see a blue blanket. I see turquoise and white one and a white and peach crocheted blanket. Neither of which scream BOY!

    4. My mom brought me home from the hospital in a blue blanket in 1955. I asked her about it and was told it was the only one she had. So it does happen and I wasn't marked for life because of it

    5. Idk but that is different. Not necessarily wrong just different.

    6. Umm it’s just a blanket. Plenty of girls use blue clothes and guys use pink clothes. It 2018, people are realizing that color doesn’t determine or is attatched to gender. Jinger seems like she isn’t that into pink because Felicity’s nursery isn’t pink either. That’s how perfectly fine.

    7. I don't think people are so attached to old customs when it comes to gender-color associations.

    8. When I was born in the early 50's, bonnets were the rage for babies. My mother said I'd pull mine off. Later, headbands were all the rage- cloth and plastic. I hated the feel of them on my head... same with hats. Still can't stand to wear anything on my head.

    9. I had many colors of receiving blankets for my baby girl. I preferred white and gray or blue for her. She was always dressed femininely and had a ton of hair that easily held a tiny bow. No one ever confused her with a boy, and I loved having some variety other than always, always pink. Would you want to wear pink every single day as an adult? Yuck.

    10. We are really taking about the color of a blanket? There are no gender specific colors, there are great clothes and accessories in all colors for girls and boys. I’m so glad I don’t live my life on the public stage in front of the world. I really feel for the Duggars (Vuolo’s, Dillard’s, Forsyth’s, etc.) the negative feedback on every picture or life choice as small as the color of a blanket.

      Delete
    11. The 1950s called! They would love to have you back!

      Delete
    12. How about yellow, orange or green? I agree that there should be no gender fluid junk going around. Kids need to have an identity or else they become confused, depressed, and suicidal. Nothing wrong with it as babies tho

      Delete
    13. 7:22, so teenage and adult women shouldn’t wear blue? I’m literally wearing blue right now and I'm not confused, depressed, or suicidal. God did not create colors to be gender specific, people did that a few decades ago.

    14. Just out of curiosity, when, where, and why did the tradition of blue for boys and pink for girls originate. I think that is a custom we need to let go of. I feel so sad for my young grandson who loves pink but is shamed by others (not his immediate family) for choosing pink.

  5. Why do people insist on putting those silly headbands on babies?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Because they’re adorable, and it’s not hurting the baby

      Delete
    2. Pushing minutes-old newborns into a gendered existence is of extreme importance to many people. Pink and blue blankets, flowered headbands, body mutilation (infant ear piercing), whimsical tutus, and t-shirts with cheeky gendered phrasing ("handsome like daddy!" "sweet like mommy!") help combat the very upsetting problem of complete strangers not knowing if infant is a boy infant or a girl infant.

      Delete
    3. I agree they overwhelm their little heads.

      Delete
    4. Because those "silly" headbands are rather adorable. Of course feel free to give a parent a look of disdain next time you see a baby girl with a "silly" headband on. Or better yet go up to a parent who does that and tell them what you think.😠

      Delete
    5. I put those silly headbands on my daughters. I loved it!

      Delete
    6. They are not cute. They look silly. Everyone can tell your baby is a girl, they don’t need a large adornment on their heads. I bet those babies look back at their pic and say “mom what were you thinking”.

      Delete
    7. I never put that elasticy fufu stuff in neither one of my daughters' hair simply because it just looks and sounds uncomfortable. I have never been a big fan of hats or headbands for myself either.

      Delete
    8. If they served a purpose, like a hat to keep the head warm, I'd understand. But they're nothing more than putting a big bow on a baby just to please the adults.

      Delete
    9. @4:20 PM - I don't doubt you loved it; babies most certainly do not. That's why they pull them off constantly. Kids and adults often have trouble wearing a headband all day if the fit is too tight because it gives them a headache. The difference is that kids and adults can vocalize that discomfort or simply remove it themselves. It's not cute or caring to torture an infant or baby because you "loved it!"

      Delete
    10. The headband is fine, but she looks like she's wearing lipstick.

      Delete
    11. 11:19, babies actually do vocalize when they’re upset, it’s called crying. And 7:00, my little sister always wore them when she was a baby, and when she looks at pictures not she thinks they’re cute. I always had bows in my hair as a baby and didn’t mind them at all, as I left them in. And when I look at pictures I think they’re cute not “oh dear goodness, how could my parents have subjected me to such torture😩” You people are unreal, why don’t you go defend children who are starving or being trafficked since they actually NEED help?

      Delete
    12. 11:42, no she doesn’t, she just has very dark lips, I did too when I was a baby.

      Delete
    13. So much agita over a headband that for all we know was just placed on Felicity for the photo shoot. BTW, I can think of many babies who like to pull off diapers constantly. Is it therefore "torturing" such babies for parents to keep putting the diapers back on?

      Delete
    14. There are some headbands so tight that they can cause some damage! Some of these bands are hideous and hot in this summer weather. Babies release sweat on their heads when newborn.

      Delete
    15. 9:21 - Diapers have a practical purpose that headbands lack. A baby pulling off a headband or hat is a sign that it is uncomfortable. Style isn't as important as a baby's comfort, it's parental vanity. Unless baby has a terrible diaper rash, pulling off a diaper can be a sign that baby is ready to potty train or showing that they prefer to be free.

      Delete
    16. 11:19..4:20 here. I don’t get offended easily, but you most certainly crossed the line accusing me of “torturing” my daughters with hair bows. Hair Bows! Nothing could be further from the truth. Just because you don’t like a fashion choice doesn’t equate it to torture. You owe me an apology for such a harsh and totally uncalled for accusation.

      Delete
    17. 11:19. Torture?? Putting a headband on a baby is now torture? I put bows, and flowers, and even jingle bells (for Christmas) on my daughters heads when they were infants..well until they were old enough to do their own hair actually. They grew up to be college educated, fully socialized, God-fearing beautiful women. And, by the way, they were beyond cute; they were adorable!

      Delete
    18. It's a wonder little hands don't reach up and pull this kind of stuff off and put it in their mouths. Choking hazards are what I'd call these headbands and head ornaments.

      Delete
    19. Why did you do that, 6:32? For the attention it got you? I'd like to know the practical reasons to adorn a baby like that, if you can explain. Not the impractical reasons, but the practical ones about why babies need big headbands and bows.

      Delete
    20. Mommy Wars on this blog are nothing new, but I agree with all the posters who think it quite inappropriate to refer to putting a headband on a baby as TORTURE.

I mean, if that counts as torture, then what do you call it when a baby is actually hit, beaten, shaken, etc? Hyperbolic accusations just tend to undermine your own case.

      Delete
    21. 4:54. This is 6:32. There is absolutely no practical reason I put jingle bells and other cute accessories on my daughters heads. None. Zip. Zilch. They sure have made for the sweetest Christmas pictures, Easter pictures( rabbit ears for those) Spring pictures etc. One daughter was a tulip and another a plate in school plays. Nothing practical about those either, but my husband and I oohed and aahed and told them they were the best tulip and plate that ever graced the elementary school stage. I happen to still adorn myself with hot pick nail polish and full make-up everyday. Not because it’s practical, but because it makes me feel beautiful. And my husband sure appreciates a beautiful wife💕

      Delete
    22. 4:54...have you never worn anything impractical? Just because it was cute or pretty or fun? No light-up Christmas bulb earrings or a sweater with glitter hearts for Valentines Day? Some impracticality is what makes life extraordinary.

    1. It's not a competition about who has the prettiest baby. Your comment is pretty petty and childish.

    2. I disagree anon 9:03. I am NOT OP for the record. You must not have children because if you did then You would think they were the most beautiful or handsome human beings both inside and out. Every parent SHOULD feel this way about their offspring.

      Delete
    3. Agree completely 2:29. My granddaughters are cuter, in my opinion than any other babies. I dare say some avid fans would say the Duggar babies are prettier than their own babies, but that’s because any perceived slight is treated with swift and harsh criticism.

    4. Woah@9:03. Chill. We all say those things about our own children.

      Delete
    5. anon@2:29- It's one thing to THINK your child is the most beautiful/handsone inside and out, it's quite something else to brag about it to others.

    6. I can’t believe the inane arguments on this blog. Headbands - yea or nay; to call your child most beautiful or not, color coding by gender. My goodness.

  11. What an adorable baby!!! She looks like both Jinger and Jeremy and I'm sure she's going to grow up to be a beautiful person both inside and out. So why didn't Baby Sam didn't get any sweet photos like this? Why didn't he get an article in people mag or us weekly? Even baby Mason got an article written about him. Jill and Derick were still on Counting on during that time so why was his birth so hush and ALL the other grand babies had multiple pictures posted within hours or days after their birth. For a family who celebrates every child, why wasn't Sam celebrated?

    1. Maybe Jill didn’t feel up to have strangers in her hospital room taking pictures. She may not have wanted to answer questions about the delivery, since things didn’t go as planned. Sometimes people just need and want privacy. We have seen pictures of Samuel since then and he is a cutie!

      Delete
    2. Despite them being still airing the shows the dillards were in, they were choosing to step away from the spotlight. You can tell they were stepping away as after they left, the footage with them was limited. Remember, jill and dereck chose to leave so that's not a surprise.

      Delete
    3. Maybe Jill and Derick didn’t want that.

      Delete
    4. Dillard family is not part of TLC anymore

      Delete
    5. Yes we've all heard this conspiracy theory by now that Samuel had Zika or a stroke or some other kind of brain injury and the Dillards covered it up. What's the point of alluding to it yet again in a post on Felicity, who is Jinger and Jeremy's daughter?

Look, if Sam really did suffer some significant, permanent injury from his birth, it will eventually come out. If whatever happened was very minor and he is thriving and growing normally, then what's the point of speculating?

      Delete
    6. Wasn't there some controversy over the baby being hospitalized for some time? Perhaps the Dillards didn't want any more attention drawn to it, since they'd received backlash regarding Jill's first traumatic delivery.

  12. She is a precious little girl for sure. Is it true she is getting her own spinoff show on Tlc?

  13. It's summer in southwest Texas. Why does this baby need a crochet hat on her head in the first place? I doubt her head will be 'cold' during July/August down there. They are just plain silly. That oversized 'flower-bow' on top of her head looks tacky. Otherwise, she has been dressed nicely. Come on, Jing, loose that head gear.

    4. My a/c is set on 79 and we're all quite comfy without headbands. It's summer. Shorts and t-shirts and bare feet. No reason to turn the a/c to Arctic. Just get rid of the humidity and dress accordingly for a higher setting.

  14. A newborn with her own show? Sounds so exciting watching a baby sleep 17 hours a day, oh wait, she burped! Stay tuned for the next exciting episode where she sleeps, burps and sleeps some more!

    2. 2:55 PM Her eyes are brown, and Jeremy's eyes are brown too. I don't see any dark blue. She's going to look like Jeremy and have the same color of eyes as her father, brown.
