Baby Vuolo is Here!

The third Duggar granddaughter has arrived, safe and sound, right around her due date!

Jinger and Jeremy Vuolo welcomed Felicity Nicole Vuolo yesterday, July 19th, 2018, at 4:37am. Just one day after Jim Bob's birthday. She weighed in at 8lbs, 3oz and was 19.5 inches long. As they say in the video below, the new parents are thankful for a healthy pregnancy, and they are grateful for a safe delivery, as well. Visit their website to see the Vuolos' first photos as a family of three.

    1. Felicity is wearing a hospital bracelet so that answers that, but they haven’t said how long she was in labor yet

      Delete
    2. They could have went afterward to have her checked out, jinger doesn’t have one on

      Delete
    3. At the hospital I go to the daddy's also wear a hospital band. Maybe not there or maybe on the other arm. Anyways that's not really important, what matters is both are healthy.

      Delete
    4. The bracelet would be on Jinger's other arm. The one that is hidden. The same arm as the baby.

      Delete
    5. 9:55, then it would be an out patient checkup and she wouldn’t need the bracelet

      Delete
    6. Pretty sure she had a hospital or birth center birth. While you may take your baby to the doctor to get her checked out, it would be on an out patient basis. It's unlikely a doctor or hospital would admit the baby to the hospital and put a security band on a perfectly healthy baby. Felicity Nicole is absolutely perfect and Jinger looks radiant. So happy for the Vuolos and the Duggars.

    7. I don't know about the labor but it's obvious the baby was born in a hospital or birthing center.

      Delete
    8. Guess guess guess assume assume assume....can’t we just wait and hear it from mama and daddy? And does it matter where she gave birth?

      Delete
    9. Wow everyone is always going on about the home births but if you watched the show Michael had her babies in the hospital under a doctor's care. Anna was the first to have a home birth and they always went well for her

    1. There is a wonderful Catholic saint called St Felicity.

      Delete
    2. Felicity is a religious name. She and St. Perpetua were the first women Martyrs! Beautiful symbolism!

      Delete
    3. Actually Felicity was an early Christian martyr, so it is a religious name in that sense, though not a Biblical one.

      Delete
    4. I love the name too. We considered Felicity for our last. It is a saint's name after St. Felicitas.

      Delete
    5. 3:47, Felicitas and Perpetua weren’t Catholic

      Delete
    6. May I say thank you to all the responders as I had no idea there is a saint Felicity (& I am catholic) so you have informed me of something I didn't know, & never learnt about in all my years at catholic convent school, so thank you. I do think it's a beautiful name & very classy & im happy they seem to have had a safe uncomplicated delivery.

  21. Felicity Vuolo is a mouthful for a little girl. Is there a family connection? ❤

    1. Felicity Voulo is very easy to say, and is a beautiful name.

      Delete
    2. In Australia and New Zealand Felicity get shortened to Flick or Fliss both cute nicknames. In the UK it was a very popular name with the upper classes, although it is no longer as popular, but it like many old traditional names has been making a comeback in recent years.

      Delete
    3. Nicole is Jingers middle name. Felicity means happiness. It's a beautiful name.

      Delete
    4. It's Vuolo, case in point. ❤

      Delete
    5. 5:27, doesn’t change the pronunciation so still not a mouthful, but yes Vuolo is the correct way to spell it ❤️

      Delete
    6. I agree. Fe-li-ci-ty Vu-o-lo... It does not ring. First name has e and i, last name - u and o... too many different vowels.

      Delete
    7. Lulu Vuolo. Lola Vuolo. Rolo Vuolo. Matching vowels. :)

  25. I don't like the name. Yes, I said it. I think it's old fashioned and kitschy. It's a lot of syllables. I wonder how they'll shorten it.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Why do they have to shorten it? Personally I think it’s a gorgeous name. It had four syllables, which really isn’t a big deal. Jeremy’s sisters name is Victoria which also has four syllables so I think they know it won’t be impossible to say.

      Delete
    2. Flick was how some Felicity's I knew at school shortened it, though I personally like the name

      Delete
    3. I agree it is too long. Possible short forms: Fels, Felsy, Feli, Felice, Felici.
Of any of the Duggar married kids so far, Jinger and Jeremy would have been the logical ones at this point to continue the "J" theme, since both their names begin with "J". They probably wanted to be their own family, though and obviously decided against it. They probably thought it would be too much. My parents' names both began with "E" and they named all of us with names beginning with "E".

      Delete
    4. That’s so nice to say! I wonder if people felt the same way about your name when you were born! How very rude your statement was.

      Delete
    5. Probably "Lissy". I hope they don't go with "Feli".

      Delete
    6. Why would they?

      Delete
    7. Good thing she’s not yours. I don’t think it cool to comment negatively on a brand new baby’s name.

      Delete
    8. Well it’s a good thing you don’t have to name your child that then. I think is a beautiful name.

      Delete
    9. Why does it need to be shortened? Felicity is a lovely name.

      Delete
    10. Mayby Liz or Lizzy. I do like the name, but yeah i am all for names with more syllables :)

      Delete
    11. OP, why don’t you give us your name so we can criticize it? Oh wait, that would be a rude thing to do.

      Delete
    12. Fliss? Liss? Cici?

      Delete
    13. They don’t have to nickname her at all!! It is Felicity-period!!

      Delete
    14. I like Lissy for a nickname. That sounds super cute!

      Delete
    15. No need for a choppy, less pretty nickname when she has a beautiful first name.

      Delete
    16. If they shortened Spurgeon and Israel, they'll shorten Felicity.

      Delete
    17. Jeremy and Jinger aren't Spurgeon and Israel's parents and didn't shorten their names. The Vuolos are the ones to determine if Felicity will have a nickname and may prefer to call her by her beautiful name.

  26. Congrats from my mom and I. We both think she's beautiful. Just, like her mom. We also love the name. God bless you all!

      Delete
    3. Perhaps a “wink” to Jeremy’s father’s side religion!

      Delete
    4. Felicity also means happiness, which is a meaning anyone of any religion can relate to. I like the musical quality of it.

      Delete
    5. I read that Felicity was one of the names used by the Puritans (who also liked to name their children things like Patience, Prudence, and many other character quality names). So not a Catholic name, per se.

      Delete
    6. 1:42, I’m not catholic and have known about her and Perpetua since I was young. They weren’t Catholics, they were early Christians.

      Delete
    7. 9:54. St.Felicity was too Catholic.

      Delete
    8. Anon at 954 am. Pretty sure Catholics themselves would disagree with you but that's probably what the Vuolos would say themselves regarding the irony, that Felicitas wasn't really Catholic.

      Delete
    9. 6:01&10:50, Felicitas and Perpetua died in 203AD, and Catholicism didn’t come around until like 1054AD, so yeah, they weren’t Catholic

    1. You can definitely have long hospital births. Once they admit you to the hospital, you have to be a certain cm dilated. But if things don't progress, they may want to do intervention. It just depends on the situation. I've had many hospital births and they went well, but painful and long.

  50. Congratulations Jinger and Jeremy, what a beautiful and modern name, she is such a precious little doll. So happy to hear that Jinger and Felicity are both doing great, from the bracelet on baby’s wrist, I am assuming Jinger gave birth in a hospital. Good for her in taking every health care precaution available. Can’t wait to see them raise their sweet Felicity, they are going to be such amazing parents.

    1. While I really like the name, it’s definitely not modern. It’s a very old name that you don’t hear much; maybe they will start a new trend.

    2. I don't know that it's a modern name. I think it's a lovely name, but it reminds me of the American Girl doll of the same name from the Revolutionary War period.

  52. I am absolutely appalled at the number of rude comments regarding this beautiful baby's name. Jinger and Jeremy like the name for THEIR baby and I'm sure they have their reasons and I doubt they really care what YOU think. However, little Felicity will learn to read one day and she may just stumble across this page and read YOUR comments. Don't you think that will hurt her, the way people made fun of her name and made derogatory comments? Do you take pleasure in hurting others with your words, especially an innocent baby who had no say in what name she was given at birth? Why would you do that? Why would you want to hurt Jinger and Jeremy? I'm sure they do read this page on occasion and to see people attacking their choice of a name for their precious little girl, whom they obviously love and wanted very much, has got to be heartbreaking.
What a cold and cruel society we have become. Nobody rejoices in the birth of a new child anymore, instead they pick apart every little detail from where the mother gave birth, HOW she gave birth, what the baby's name is, what she's wearing - my God, why can't we just be happy for them and rejoice on this precious little gift God has blessed them with? Grow up people! We have enough hate in this world, don't attack an innocent little child because YOU don't like her name! Wow - I am ashamed of folks like you! Shame on you!

    1. Karen knowing how social media can be then we shouldn't put all our personal information on it for all the world to see and expect only compliments from people. I think I am more shocked that the Duggars allow people who they don't know, will never meet, right into the delivery of their babies, and into their weddings and all to make money. I don't know 1 Pastor who would ever allow their personal life to be sold for money except Jeremy. So if you do that then this is what happens.

    3. 5:36, but the attitude that "they're out there so they should expect it" is one of the reasons we have the terrible bullying and social media crisis we have today. It makes people feel that they have a right to criticize, bash, and find fault, and sadly most people do, because they can cowardly hide behind a computer screen all while picking others apart.

  58. Finally a Duggar picks a normal name. Love it Jinger. Your one of the smart ones in your family waited a year to get pregnant and enjoyed your time with your husband before starting a family so smart.

    1. It’s “you’re” (as in you are) not “your”. Maybe check your grammar before insinuating that some of the Duggar children aren’t smart.

      Delete
    2. I'd say Henry and Samuel are much more common names than Felicity. I wouldn't say Felicity is any more normal than Gideon or Garrett. They're all names that have been used as first names a lot historically, but not that common recently. The only Duggar name that's ever made me take pause was Spurgeon.

  60. No new parents want people to comment badly about the name they’ve chosen for their child. It’s so exciting to pick out a new baby’s name and when people comment negatively, it’s hurtful.
To those that don’t care for the name,-fine. Just don’t voice your opinion for the happy family to see. They love the name and that’s all that
    matters!
    Congratulations to the new family!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. So are you saying that all new parents want people to lie to them when presented with the baby's name? That we should all go around telling little white lies and hide our true thoughts? When I told people my baby's name, their reaction might have been untrue? Can I believe anything anyone says to me now? How is that a better situation? I'd rather deal with the truth than be placated with a lie, any day.

I think a bigger issue here is why a discussion and some truthful comments about a name are rattling some people so badly. Doesn't anyone remember the whole Spurgeon name discussion?

      Delete
    2. 2:16, you are confusing being polite with being a liar. You are also equating opinion with truth. Just because you think it does not mean that you should say it or that you have a "right" to say it, especially if you claim that right as more important than someone else's feelings. Just because you think it does not mean that you are right. Baby names fall in the category of personal choice and opinion. You have the choice to not like someone else's choice of a baby name, and they have the choice to name their baby that name, but that doesn't mean that you can be selfish and push your opinion on someone else in the name of "truth." I think those who are being "rattled" are just tired of seeing the unkindness, selfishness, and rudeness that are becoming so common online and elsewhere in our society.

      Delete
    3. 2:16, unless the parents ask you for your opinion on their baby’s name, then yes, it is extremely rude to make mean comments about it. Grow up

      Delete
    4. Well 2:16 it’s not so much a lie, but being happy for the parents and the name they’ve chose for their baby.
We all have a difference of opinion when it comes to naming our children. If someone comments about the child’s name, that’s just mean and unkind.
Whatever they choose to name their baby, I would never comment negatively. That’s not lying, that’s being joyful for every aspect of their journey into parenthood.

      Delete
  61. Jinger sure got the short end of the stick in the Duggar name department. No doubt she took special consideration to select a dignified name for her child.
