  2. So I have a question. I'm kind of embarrassed to ask this publicly but when you say you pray when something bad happens or you are troubled, what do you mean? Do you say things like god please let this not be true? or do you just say a prayer the "The Hail Mary" I was not raised in a religious home, but sometimes I wish I was and sometimes I wish I had a faith to believe in but I don't know where to start.

    1. Anonymous how I wish I could talk to you personally! The first step in having faith is the desire to know Jesus, and congratulations you are there!! You are so loved by God and He knows the desire of your heart. Do not stop seeking Him! Prayer can mean a lot of things: it is simply talking to God. So whether you do that with a recited prayer, pleading, asking, or praising, it is simply talking to Him. Oh how He wants to hear from you!! God may not answer prayers according to your desire, only because He has a better plan/purpose. Sometimes we face trials in life which, painful at the time, bring about a good purpose (like drawing closer to the Lord). How to start: again how I wish I could walk with you personally! Buy a Bible, a study Bible is very helpful. There are many translations and usually New International Version and New Living Translation are easy to understand. My life has been completely transformed since I gave my life to Jesus. It is such a beautiful gift He gives us. Continue to draw closer to Him and He will draw near to you.(James 4:8) May God bless you and draw you into His loving embrace.

    2. God sent the Lord Jesus Christ who died for our sins, and all you have to do is invite Jesus into your heart, pray and feel the love.

    3. Don't be embarrassed. I am not a Duggar but I am a Christian and would love to answer your question.

We pray to our God whom we have a personal relationship with. We can have a personal relationship with our Creator because He chose to send His perfect son Jesus to earth to live and die as the perfect sacrifice for our sins. We as human beings are all sinful flawed beings that can choose right or wrong. Just one sin sets us a part from a Holy God. He is Holy, Pure and Righteous and without His perfect sacrifice (Jesus death and resurrection) we couldn't spend eternity with God. Sin cannot be in His presence. God sent His Holy Spirit to come live within his believers. When you accept Jesus' sacrifice and make Him Lord of your life the Holy Spirit who is the Comforter, Guider and Companion will come to live within your body. When we pray we have a mediator (The Holy Spirit) who brings our requests and praises to God on our behalf. God doesn't always answer yes, sometimes it's wait and see and sometimes it's no because it's not part of His bigger plan. When we pray we pray when we are thankful, scared, worried, in need, have plenty, we pray all the time. It is a personal relationship and we can feel His guidance, comfort and correcting in our lives. I have had a personal relationship with Jesus for over 20 years and I always know when the Holy Spirit is leading me to do, say or help someone. When I sin and do what is wrong in the eyes of God, He gently speaks to my heart and I know that I am wrong and need to repent (Admit my wrongs, turn from them and do the opposite). Prayer is like a telephone to God. The Holy Spirit is the telephone wires. It is an amazing thing and can change your life. If you don't have a personal relationship with Jesus the first step is to seek Him, read the Holy Bible, ask questions, repent and just cry out to God to save your soul and to forgive you. He hears you now and wants you to ask Him for help.

Life will not magically get easy, in fact life and this sinful world will always be hard but God will give you His strength daily. His comfort and His guidance to face each day.

I hope that you will become a child of God and know Jesus as your personal Savior!

      Sincerely, Jen

    4. Well prayer is a great place to start and that is a very good question. When something bad happens, I pray to God that he will help me get through it, ease my pain, give me peace, and just generally that he would HELP me! I might pray that he take it away (a bad sickness maybe?) Or make it better (a bad relationship) or just get me through it (A death in the family maybe?). Also the bible says to pray that He will give you faith! And he will! Pray that he shows you how to start, what to do, even show you how to pray and what to pray for. I promise he will direct your paths to receive your answers and help and faith. Necause the bible says He is faithful. God bless you.

    5. It means you can tell Jesus whatever is on your heart. When you read Psalms, you see all types of prayers from joy to depression to fear. God's Word tells us "but in evrything by prayer and petition present your requests to God" (see Philippians 4:6-8)

Philippians 4:6-8 tells us to present our requests to Him. Jesus cried our to the Father to take the cup from Him but your will God be done. We too can be honest before him about how we feel. After all, our God knows everything.

    8. Hi there! I know you were probably asking the Duggar family this question, but I read your comment and noticed there was no reply yet (I'm sure whoever responds to comments on this blog tries to keep up as often as possible). But if you'll allow me, I'd love to give you my answer on this. I have a very strong relationship with Jesus. And even though I call myself a Christian, to me Christianity is so much more than a religion. To me it's a relationship with Christ. When I'm going through something - whether it's a good or bad situation, I just talk to the Lord like I would my best friend sitting right next to me. Because really that's what God wants from us. To trust Him like a friend, lean on Him for support like we would our parents, and love Him unconditionally because that's how He Loves us. No matter what we do, God will always love us and be there for us. That's not to say we can do whatever we want without consequences though. If you make the decision to accept Christ in your life, you have to do your best to follow His word and do what pleases Him. When I pray, I just have a conversation with Him. I tell Him what I'm thankful for, I pray for my family and friends - for protection, good health, anything specific they request, ect. - and if needed I then ask Him to help me with whatever I may be going through at that time. Recently, my husband and I were struggling financially so I started praying about that situation. Not to ask Him for money straight out, but for guidance in what steps to take to lead us through the rough patch. I always say thank you for providing for us in what we do have - a home, food, and clothes, but then I pray for wisdom in how best to use our money and how to budget wisely in order to get us out of debt. Of course I didn't know what would happen yet or when and I didn't expect money to just fall into my hands, but I had faith that God would get me through and give me wisdom. And sure enough I started seeing how to budget clearer, I was able to start making regular payments on bills and saving money and then we got a huge blessing when my husband was offered a new job that paid more money. I truly believe this was all because we had been faithful in prayer and made smart choices and trusted God to take care of us. Having a relationship with Jesus is definitely a learning process, and a day to day process. He doesn't ever expect us to be perfect and He knows we'll fail because we're human. But if we accept him as our Saviour, and ask Him into our lives and really try to live in His will for us, then God will bless our efforts and give us a feeling of love and security like no-one else can. You just have to take that first leap of faith and make the decision to ask Him into your life. Everything after that will fall into place. Spending time reading the Bible and just talking to Jesus about anything and everything is a great way to develop a relationship with Him. Even if you just tell you don't know where to start and that you're confused. Be honest and don't be hard on yourself for not knowing everything all at once - or even for the occasional mess up. Nobody is perfect and God knows that. But He is perfect and if we strive to be as like Him as possible I believe He will help us through anything. I don't know you're name, but I will definitely pray for you. I don't normally give my name in public blogs, but if you see this and are at all intrigued or interested, please look me up on Facebook under Heather Martinez Porter and message me! I will help you as much as I can!

    9. In troubled times, I often pray for comfort, for peace, and for calm. I pray for God to heal broken hearts.

I will pray for you! Thank you for having the courage to ask. :)

    10. You can say whatever you would like to God :) in this situation you could ask him to give you the strength to endure the hard time or ask him to help u trust and have faith that he will use the bad circumstances for your good. Or you could simply express your feelings of frustration to him, praying is simply a conversation with God. He is always there to listen if ur willing to open up your heart. <3

    11. First, I applaud you for having the courage to ask the question. Second, there is no need to be embarrassed..it's a very intelligent question.
Generally when Something goes wrong and I pray; I usually ask God for the strength to deal with whatever it is. Or, I ask God for wisdom to know what to do or what not to do. Sometimes I ask Him to intervene to change the outcome of the circumstance.
It really depends on the situation and what it is that I need at the time.
But the most important thing is just to talk to Him about whatever it is..He loves when we give Him the opportunity to show us how much He cares and loves us.

    12. Hello :) I can't answer this for the Duggars but I can answer it for myself. I didn't grow up in a religious home either. I became friends with a Christian in third grade, and her family took me under their wing. They took me to church and I learned about Jesus. I chose to live for Jesus when I was fifteen. I have been in this journey for eleven years now. I have seen a lot of hard times, like family struggles, sickness, infertility, etc. When I pray during these times, I connect with God and talk with Him just like someone might talk to a trusted friend. Sometimes, I ask for help, like, "God, I don't know what to do. Will you show me?" Sometimes, I talk about how I'm feeling. Sometimes, I even have to vent in a way and it comes out like, " God, why is this happening? I know You love me, so why do I have to go through this? I need you to help me trust you." Prayer is just like taking to your best friend. And that's exactly what God would like to be.

      Delete
    13. We pray for strength to get us through the situation. You just start praying and find a good church and the rest will come.

      Delete
    14. Prayer is merely talking to God much like you would a close friend. If you are burdened with something and you talk to your best friend or maybe your mom about it doesn't it make you feel better? Prayer is similar except so much better because the God who created heaven and earth, who created you, who sees past, present, and future perfectly invites you into His throne room to share your heart. Prayer is one way communication. We unburden ourselves to Him, but he reveals Himself and the answers we seek through His Word. The book of John was written so you might believe and believing you might have eternal life. So I'd suggest you start reading there if you want to know God. I wish you the best and I'm praying for you. :)

    15. Jesus calls us to talk with Him as you would your best friend. Everything from help me to a long discussion. He is always eager to hear your thoughts and feelings.

    16. Don't feel embarrassed. Yes just pray for God to help you. Something as simple as God help me. If you truly believe in God and want to join His family. You have to have complete faith and trust in Him. God sent His 1 and only begotten son to die on a cross for our sins. He shed His blood for us. That He was born of a virgin to die on the cross for us. He is pure and white as snow. The perfect Lamb. He died on the cross for us because He loves us so much and wants to spend eternity in Heaven with us. All you have to do is believe, accept, know and have faith that Jesus Christ died on the cross for us so that we may have Eternal life in heaven. That He shed His blood for us, the only 1 true sacrifice. Once you believe that with all of your heart, you bow your head and say "Dear Lord, I am a sinner, I don't deserve this gift that you are willing to give to me, but I know you died on the cross to shed your blood so that all of our sins can be washed away. I would love to become a member of your family. Lord please forgive me of my sins. I trust in You. Thank you Lord for loving me so much that you wanted to die on that cross for me. In Jesus name, I pray." Then get in the Bible and read John 3:16. Then just keep reading.

    17. You pray for the situation and for the strength and wisdom to get through it & you pray for guidance and just leave it in God's hands cause if God brings you to it he'll bring you through it & as for knowing where to start for a faith based life get you a study bible and start anywhere in the new testament but I recommend Matthew :-)

    19. When I pray, I pray to "Dear Heavenly Father". I thank him for my blessings, and then I pray for things that I feel need prayer. I pray for the health of my children and grandchildren, the health of family and friends, and anything specific I may be needing at the time. It's basically a conversation with God. I hope this helps. God bless.

    20. For me, I just pray for God's will to be done and for his strength to fortify myself or whomever I am praying for. Praying isn't a big deal.. Its a conversation with your Abba..Daddy. Don't ever be embarrassed.. God is leading you to Him.

    21. Great question! Praying to God in times of trouble often includes a request for strength to overcome, understanding of what's to come which often will bring peace to one's heart. The Holy Ghost is able to touch our hearts in many ways and often does when we seek out help and guidance from God. Getting down on your knees and conversing with the Lord in good times and bad is something everyone can do, as we are all His children. And if you aren't sure you believe, keep praying, read scriptures and learn more of God and Jesus Christ. It will come!

  7. I'm not surprised. The sponsors of TLC underestimated the good taste and loyalty of Duggar viewers. It should be viewers who determine what shows air, not corporate sponsors. I would be more inclined to purchase from sponsors who support this quality of television as opposed to sponsors who cave under pressure and cancel shows like the Duggars.

I feel very grateful to both the Duggars and TLC for airing Jill and Jessa Counting On, and I look forward to the remaining shows. I would love to see this series continue in the future. It was very hard to see how much pain this family is suffering, but my prayers are with them. As always, thank you for this blog.

And I am a Duggar fan yet personally I do not want to see him on TV. It was like he lie to the viewers as well as the family. He pretended to love his family while behind their back doing what was wrong... Did he think no one would find out? Your whole family was brought to your feet. Nobody is perfect we are all sinners. Josh was looking us in the eye as a christian family man and the truth is he looked in our eyes and was laughing thinking he never would get caught. I love what Jill said on her show. To Anonymous #2, asking how to pray: Don't be embarrassed!! You can pray for God to give you wisdom on how to conduct your life in general or how to make an important decision, to give you the strength to endure a trial, to give you peace in the midst of a trial. You can always pray for a miracle in a seemingly impossible situation, which God is able to do, but Christians always pray for His will also, because we know that sometimes what we are asking for isn't His perfect will for our lives in the larger scheme of things. Most of all, we should all be praying for God to reveal himself to us and draw us closer to Him. It's not about reciting rote prayers, but speaking to God right from your heart, just as if to a friend. Remember that Jesus is the only Way to God. He is your Savior, but you also need to make him Lord of your life and put Him first. Read your Bible. There are many versions. If the King James Version is hard to understand, you can read the New King James Version or the New International Version (NIV). Find a good Bible-preaching church -- a Baptist church is usually good, but there are many other denominations that preach the Word. If you're looking for good Christian books to read and explain more about Christianity and your walk with Christ, you can't go wrong with Charles Stanley, www.intouch.org. If you call the number at Charles Stanley ministry In Touch, they can get you more resources and may even send you a Bible. God bless you, and I'll be praying for you! Merry Christmas!!

  54. Anonymous 2, good question! Especially for those who are not religious who are seeking to be, it can be confusing at first. Firstly, I would suggest getting a good Bible (King James or New King James) and begin studying. If you want to know how to pray, the Bible has directions on how to pray in Matthew 6. After studying Matthew 6 and other passages on prayer, you can see that we don't have to chant a set phrase, but rather pray for things we need, or others. We're specifically told to pray to the Father, in the Jesus name. (or authority) We can see that if someone is physically ailing, we can pray and ask God to heal them. If we need help in any daily tasks, we can pray for help. And, if we're seeking Him, He will listen, and answer our prayers. If you look in the creation around us, we can know that we didn't just happen, and that there is a greater force. And if we're ready to seek to see why we're here, God will help us find.

  56. You are on the right track to Believe in Jesus Christ. All you do to Pray is talk to Jesus like you would a friend. You ask Jesus to come into your Heart and to reveal himself to you through his word The Bible and to forgive you of all your sins. Jesus will come and help you to learn about him.

Don't be embarrassed to ask how to pray! That's a valid question. Prayer is a conversation with God. He's your Heavenly Father, so just address Him like you would if He were sitting in the room with you, because He is! Speak to Him, express what's on your heart and ask Him to reveal Himself to you. Then begin watching for Him to move in your life! He may bring Believers across your path, or lead you to a helpful book.... A really good way to pray is to speak some of the Psalms from the Bible. Many of them are prayers. I will pray for you that you discover a rich and fulfilling prayer life and that the Lord becomes real to you in fresh ways. Be blessed!

  59. @Anonymous@AnonymousFirst you have to be ask Jesus into your heart for Him in to hear your prayers. To receive Jesus as your savior is to pray this prayer. Dear God, I realize that I am a sinner, and my sins have separated me from You.
I understand that I can never get rid of my sins by myself but that Jesus paid for all of it on the cross. I right now receive the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal God and Savior. I am right now trusting Him alone as having paid for my sin. Thank you for making me one of Your children.

  60. God is all-knowing. He hears every prayer, whether the person has already invited Jesus into his heart or not. Sometimes people need to talk to God for a bit before feeling ready to accept the gift of Salvation. God knows where every person is in his spiritual journey. Don't be discouraged from talking to Him even if you're not yet ready to make a commitment to Christ.

  61. Anna, I, too, went through something similar to what you are going through now. My husband was arrested for looking at child porn online. It devastated me and though its been a year, I still struggle with the perceived rejection from it. I know in my heart that this was his issue to deal with but the heartache it left me with is indescribable. I'm old enough to be your mother, however, that doesn't seem to matter. The pain is the same. My prayers are with you and your entire family as you all go through this difficult time. Truly spending time with the Lord has helped me the most. May God bless you all. Hugs from PA

They can always dvr the show - that's what I did. Dvr counts towards ratings.

  63. I was so glad that TLC provided viewers with an opportunity to watch the Duggars, Dillards and Seewalds again. I'm praying TLC brings the whole family back really soon. I miss them so much! I love this family and they are all in my prayers. They are a great blessing to so many!!!
