Duggar Valentine's Dates

Happy Valentine's Day! Both Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and Ben and Jessa Seewald went on Valentine's dates to Marketplace Grill, one of the Duggars' favorite restaurants. Both couples ordered the Chocolate Mess, a signature dessert item at Marketplace.

Fun fact: Jessa and Ben went to Marketplace Grill on their first date in September 2013 and again on August 13th, 2014, the evening before they got engaged.

  1. Did Jill and Derick go out to eat with his mom and step-father too? I think it's weird to go with your parents for Valentine's Day... just not normal.

  4. I do believe saved Christians know how to behave in godly ways on 'valentines day'...... it is good to do research on the holiday and its pagan origins. I think it is a good idea for couples or mothers and children to visit, orphans, outcast and strangers on that day to give comfort to someone else :). Many blessings in many ways through Christ!

  8. I'm glad that the Duggar's still go on double dates. But why wasn't it a triple date instead with Jill and Derick. Did they decide to spend their first Valentine's Day together as a married couple in privacy?

  10. I just finished watching the marathon of 17 and 18 kids and counting on Valentine's Day. Oh, how i miss those kids when they were little. The show was so much better produced then too.At least we have quality programming of the Bates new show.I really wish the Duggars would switch networks. You can really tell the difference when you watch the older shows, they focused on all the family.

  12. Happy 30th Anniversary to you both. God had a plan for you before you even met,, little did you know how God would use you and your precious children, we are on troubled times, we need more couples and families to be bold in their love of our Lord, you have been a blessing in my life and in other's who need to see the love of Jesus. May God continue to Bless your marriage and your family. Thank you for being you

  13. ...so did they go on a double date or at separate times, this is not clear.

  14. I'd feel better about these two if I saw them doing some hands on family stuff instead of always having moments of escape and leaving me wondering who is looking after their children now?

  15. The older shows are better than the new ones. Now they tend to focus on two or three kids, namely Josh, Jill, and Jessa. Would love to see more about the other kids. I have watched this family from the very first show, but something has changed lately. It's just not the same anymore.

  17. Valentine's Day was named after a Christian priest named Saint Valentine who was martyred Feb 14 because he was "breaking" the law of marrying couples that was out-lawed for a short time. Saint Valentine was a Christian not a pagan!

  22. Valentines Day is just a "hallmark holiday"made up to promote business. The Duggars make it seem like its some kind of a religiously mandated important holiday. It is so American. That's all.

The paganism of celebrating Valentine's Day had long been dismissed by theologian scholars. Valentine was actually canonized .

  24. TLC is joking with us that we will continue to enjoy a show that shows a pregnancy announcement from Jill almost at the same time we read on People magazine that Jill gave birth. You have robust competition on Tuesday evenings, TLC. Recognize that.

  25. Comparing Kelly and Gill to Jim Bob and MIchelle, the Duggars beliefs just get stranger and stranger.

  26. It's not a pagan holiday. It focuses on the nurder of a catholic priest executed for marrying couples against emperor Claudius rules

  27. @Lynne Anne

    Hi Lynne,

Jessa and Ben have not made a pregnancy announcement, but they are researching adoption. They are living in Josh and Anna's old house. :)

    Blessings,
    Lily and Ellie
