Thanksgiving with the Duggars

Two days until Thanksgiving! How do the Duggars celebrate Turkey Day?

Before dinner, each family member has to say something that he or she is thankful for.

"We go around the table, from the youngest to the oldest, to say one thing," explains Michelle in a People article. "You can't repeat what someone else has said they are thankful for, so it gets harder the longer it goes around."

"It's your meal ticket for dinner," adds Jim Bob.

At the Duggars' Thanksgiving table, pumpkin pie is a staple. With such a large family, they have an average of 15 pies! Below is a video that shows the baking process from a recent year.

Another holiday dish that Jim Bob and Michelle and the kids enjoy are homemade yeast rolls. You will find that recipe here.

Will you be celebrating Thanksgiving this Thursday?

  1. Yes, my family celebrates Thanksgiving every year. It is one of my favorite holidays. I like the peace and quite that accompanies Thanksgiving, unlike the hustle and bustle of Christmas. There is so much to be thankful for in the world and I think there shouldn't be just one day devoted to being thankful. We should be thankful everyday of the year. Remember that when you think your life is horrible, someone always has it worse than you. Lily and Ellie, Happy Thanksgiving! What will you be doing for Thanksgiving?

  2. The Duggars continue to inspire me every day! They truly have made an enormous impact on me. Your blog, bringing their beautiful family into our homes every day, has inspired me, as well. Thus, I have awarded you the "Sunshine Award." Please check my blog for all of the details! Congratulations! :-)

  3. Thanks, Bayley! Happy Thanksgiving to you, too. We are having a few other families over to celebrate.

  4. Hi Lisa!

Thank you for your kind words! That made our day. We are thrilled that you enjoy the blog and are so honored to receive the Sunshine Award!

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  5. No because I am Canadian we already celebrated our Thanksgiving on October 11th.

  6. I'm guessing they must have a bunch of extended family join them. 15 pies for 26 people (Grandma & Josh Duggar's family included) is a TON of pies!

  7. Here in Canada, we've already had Thanksgiving... it was in October! We are currently caught up in all the Christmas stuff!

  8. I would love for my family to Join the Duggars for Thanksgiving. When we get all my family together we have over 40 people. It is great to have a big family.. god bless you all and Happy Thanksgiving!!

  9. I was surprised to find a new header! I like it a lot!

I was wondering if you've seen this blog: duggarfamilyblog.wordpress.com. Some of my friends do it.

Lily and Ellie, happy Thanksgiving to you!! :)

  10. Lily and Ellie!
    I love your new header!
