Jinger Duggar's Engagement (Photos)

We just can't get enough of this couple! Watching Jeremy Vuolo's romantic, New York City rooftop proposal to Jinger Duggar definitely brought tears to our eyes. (Can anyone else relate?) Here are a few snapshots of the special moment:

Jinger and Jeremy arrive on the rooftop to the sound of a cellist and guitarist playing "Come Thou Fount." Jinger still has no idea that her boyfriend is about to propose.

With the New York skyline, including the Empire State Building, in the background, Jeremy drops down on one knee. "Jinger Nicole, will you marry me?"

A look of sheer shock comes over Jinger's face. She is speechless for a moment and then gives an enthusiastic "Yes!"

"Are you serious?" she exclaims. "Babe! I can't believe it. I don't even know what to say."

"Yes is good enough," responds Jeremy. "Yes is all I need."

The couple enjoys a few moments together, admiring the ring and exchanging I love yous. Jeremy asks Jinger how she likes the sound of what will soon be her new name, Jinger Nicole Vuolo. Jinger says she is thrilled.

Mom Michelle Duggar joins Jinger and Jeremy on the roof, giving her daughter a long hug and expressing her joy.

The Duggar mom also embraces her future son-in-law.

Jinger and Jeremy film a short announcement clip for Counting On before heading out to celebrate with Michelle, Jessa, Ben, Spurgeon, and Jeremy's friends.

  6. Anyone else notice the J and V tape on the floor so they 'hit the mark' for filming. Not sure I like a proposal that scripted. They would have rehearsed to hit the marks...how did she really not know?!?!???

    1. It's called Marking, they do that for every show for every member, y'all just do know the ins and outs of how shows are made.nothing suspicious going on people.

  8. I'm a bit sceptical about the whole "surprise" proposal claim. Jinger is standing on the taped off marks so the camera can get the best angle. The tape is clearly visible on the ground. I would be happier if it was a reenactment. Some things should be private and cherished as such.

    1. "Surprise" maybe in the sense that she didn't know that day was going to be the taping of it. She knew they were getting married the minute she laid eyes on him. She knew when he asked to court. She knew when he kept popping up from Texas. She knew when they brought family along to meet his family. If she did get the ring in private at some other time (we hope), then she sure had a big job to do, to keep acting like she was surprised for hours on that rooftop, while they filmed from end of storm til dark. So tacky of the producers to let the tape be seen!

    2. I want to know what kind of tape they used that could stick to concrete after hours of rain. I try all sorts of tapes to get things to stick outside and they all fail! That must be magic tape...

  9. "We just can't get enjoy of this couple" - I think you mean can't get enough. And people accuse others of making up bad spellings here on purpose... See, it even happens to the best!

  13. I have watched the show from the very beginning and I truly wish them all the happiness in the world and I am saddened that the world is so small-minded that they place the blame on your family for the wrongdoings of 1 I wish you nothing but the best and hope your show continues to have great success I would truly be saddened to see it go off the air

  14. Congratulations to Jinger and Jeremy , I truly wish TLC didn't punish the remainder of the family because of the actions of one member I miss the days when the whole family was on TV I find your family very fascinating and enjoy watching a family with so much love and so many blessings in their life I truly hope did they bring the show back and it's full family Fashion one day again I wish you nothing but the best God bless you and your entire family I only wish there was more forgiveness in this world instead of hatred 4 mistakes made by an obvious young confused young man hopefully he is found the help that he needed and can move forward in life with his wife and children it's just a shame that his entire family had to be punished for his actions only the person committing the actions can be held responsible not the people around them whether you're their parent they're brother and sister their friend their wife everybody is accountable for their self is truly a shame that you are held accountable and they took your show off of TV for the action of 1 I believe that was a total Injustice

    1. In life, sometimes the actions of one person does end up "punishing" a lot more people. This is why we are supposed to think before we act. Otherwise, someone pays the consequences. I think TLC was right to do what they did. I'm sorry that they're softening now on the punishment. It's like telling your child to go stand in the corner, but then letting him step away to watch TV every few minutes. No means no. Pulling the show means pulling the show, not coming up with another name for it and shooting from another angle. That's what's hard to understand here.

      Delete
    2. TOC may not be "punishing" the rest of the family; but producing a show that does attract the most audience. Realistically, how many more dentist appointments, supermarket/thrift store visits and family trips in the 'ol RV can hold our interest!

      Delete
    3. Please, the new show is 10 times duller than the old one. It's time to turn off the camera. I can't believe that of all the families in America, there's not another one to show, with a different story. This one has run its course!

      Delete
    4. Yes, there are so many more stories to be told! I would like to see how military families cope when one or both parents are deployed. I'd like to see single mothers who could be inspirations. I'd like to see working women show how they balance work and home life. I'd like to see how families have the skills required for special needs children. I'm tired of watching millionaires whose children feel entitled to do nothing all day but jet-set around and redecorate spare houses and take selifes.

      Delete
  15. In such a large family it's hard to escape the excitement of weddings and babies. So happy for the Duggars but I can't see these two story lines keeping the publics interest for much longer. Need to see the rest of the family, the ones who are out in the word doing other interisting things besides making babies and getting married. They are a lovely family more capable than what they have showing on their show lately.

  20. Look at that big J and arrow made with tape on the terrace! "Stand here and face this way for the camera!" Could it have been any more set up in advance? Really makes me wonder if what we saw on the show was Take 1 or Take 101. Sad that they felt they had to make a production out of what should have been a personal moment.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Sad they lied as well. They claim Jinger "has no clue". Really? She just had to stand in the exact spot for a camera crew to catch her "surprise ". This family no longer differentiates truth from fiction. They literally lie so much I think they believe it.

      Delete
    2. I so agree with you 12:09. Let's just pretend for a second Jinger really had no clue..she's only been through 3 TV proposals with her siblings...then exactly what did she think was happening with taped off markers, cameras, violins, and how many "takes" of Jeremy on blended knee?

      Delete
    3. I have to agree with all three of these posts. The "discrepancies" keep mounting-both their personal integrity and their Christian witness are at stake here. We're saddened by the choices being made...not sure if it's lack of wisdom, lack of integrity, or just simply greed. Sadly, it just seems they're losing ground, as well as the influence they may have had. It's a little like seeing another well-known "Christian pastor/personality" spectacularly fall and fade away.

      Delete
    4. Did you folks forget that they are taping a TV series. I'm sure that much of what they do requires the camera to be in a good position. Obviously she knew the film crew was there as they had already followed them around the whole week with cameras. It doesn't necessarily follow that she knew he was going to propose but she did know cameras were going to be there to film them for the series. Besides, what difference does it really make?

      Delete
    5. I agree with you 100%, 8:33. It's like the scene where Dorothy and Toto find out what's really behind the curtain.

    6. I agree....the film crew was there and tape and camera view is normal for these folks.....can't we just be happy for them?

    7. J for Jinger to stand here; V for Vuolo. Couldn't use two J's or everyone would have been confused about where to stand and maybe Jinger would have dropped to one knee and proposed to Jeremy! :)

  22. I love this couple!

I love how real they are and how they had healthy boundaries but weren't so obsessed with "rules" of courtship. They have handled themselves so graciously and maturely and walked in the freedom that Christ laid out for us.

They have been a beautiful example of living in freedom.

I sobbed during the proposal and I know I'll be balling at the wedding.

  28. I have to say that I love this couple. There may have been some staging for the proposal. But with cameras following them everywhere there is staging for everything they do. So I'm sure jinger just thought this was a normal set up for any scene they do. I love that they give full on hugs and Jeremy sneaks kisses on her forehead.

  29. I have a feeling they have kissed. They haven't said anything on the show about saving their first kiss for marriage. When's the wedding?

Congratulations to Jinger & Jeremy, it has been such a joy watching the proposal. It was so Beautiful and I admire your sacrifice of self control, I know that God is pleased and he'll anoint your relationship. I really like this show hope TLC would reconsider on allowing it to continue to air. It would be so exciting to watch the Big Wedding. I wish the entire family "God's Abundant Blessings" Thank-You for sharing your life.

  32. Jinger seemed genuinely surprised, but the marked places is a bit odd. And watching the video of the proposal again, every time it switched from an interview to the proposal sight, Jeremy and Jinger seem to switch places. Maybe Jeremy knew about the marked spots but Jinger didn't? I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt.

  34. Valid question here: If it was supposed to be raining shortly before they arrived on the rooftop, why is the ground on this rooftop bone dry?, and why is there absolutely no rain clouds visible in the sky? It's a clear sky. When and where did Jinger really get engaged for this is a re-created scene shot for the TV show, marks on the floor for them to stand on, visible and all...Wake up, guys, this IS a TV show.

    1. You got it! No "surprise " involved.

    2. It's also very dark by the end of that scene, and you know how summer sunsets and twilights last for hours.

    3. Don't worry, there are viewers here who are totally awake! But when we try to point out the obvious, as you so thoughtfully and skillfully did above, then we run the risk of being labeled "haters."

  35. Isn't Jeremy's shirt one that Jinger was shown buying in a thrift store?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Apparently "Jeremy's New York" that Jinger was so excited to see is actually in Harrison, New Jersey, home of the Red Bull Arena. I'm sending them an atlas for a wedding present.

    1. Those photos look like NYC to me.

    2. I guess when you're from Arkansas, everything in that area is "New York." But try telling that to people in New Jersey.

  37. It appears to be the Tribeca Rooftop. It does look very dry on the pavers and there's no pooled accumulation under the slatted black bench to the right in the pictures, so it couldn't have been that rainy. Just a little checking prior to their July 26th Engagement announcement:

    Precipitation Central Park NY

    July 26, 2016 .o1”
    July 25 .78”
    July 19-24 o”
    July 18 .42”
    July 17—15 0”

Perhaps they got engaged earlier in July?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't think it's Tribeca, it's more like Kip's Bay or Midtown East. Those 2 gold towers are near Madison Square Park, around the 20's.

If you can find out from the show footage who the other team is that Jeremy's old soccer team was playing (did anyone catch it?), there's an online schedule for that stadium. That would give you the date of the game at least. There was a huge rainstorm the afternoon of July 14th. I'm positive of that. If none of that matches the date the soccer game was played, then it's possible it was not filmed in July.

      Delete
    2. OK, interesting question, what was the other team? I'd really like to know. Who has it on tape or who can check?

      Delete
  38. The tape marks could have simply been for the planned photo shoot that she was expecting to take place. I've never seen marks for the show before.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Not sure the producers would make the mistake of showing marks. Are those pictures above from the friend who was shooting with his own camera? Pretty bad of the TLC production crew, if they let the marks be seen like that.

      Delete
  39. It is a valid point. No one likes to be lied to.

    ReplyDelete

    1. There could be a logical explanation, but we will never know, and who really care, such little things upset so many, there r way bigger things to be upset about...goodness😑

      Delete
  40. If it was raining when they arrived in the lobby of this building, why then is there NO SIGN of rain dripping from those trees on the roof? Jeremy's friend wouldn't put marks on the floor there for impromptu engagement photos. Usually photographers want to move the subjects around and utilize the scenery around them. Clearly the production of this spin off TV SHOW is getting laxed in their duties in hiding the scripted truth about this show. No one believes that this was the actual day, time and place that Jinger got engaged and that she knew nothing about it. Fess up.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Definitely something fishy with this whole rooftop thing, I agree. There should be some explaining. Don't fans & viewers deserve the truth?

      Delete
  41. It was a beautiful proposal. There was a natural instinct for them to kiss afterwards, I don't see anything wrong with that.

    ReplyDelete
  42. If this proposal was filmed in July in NYC, why would Jinger wear a cardigan sweater? It's very hot in NY in July and no one needs a sweater. Jeremy had a long sleeved shirt on and heavy long pants too. Not summer attire and there IS modest summer wear available.
