Duggars Vacation in Texas

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and the kids spent last week vacationing in Texas. The weather was a bit chilly, but they enjoyed bonding as a family while fishing, roasting marshmallows, boating, and playing sports and board games. Josh and Anna Duggar and their kids, along with Jill and Derick Dillard and Jessa and Ben Seewald, also joined in on the fun. Here are a few snapshots from their trip:

  2. Jill and Derick are such a cute couple. I can hardly wait 'till baby Dilly comes. They are going to be great parents for sure. That baby is never going to be at a loss for love.

The younger girls are growing up to be beautiful young ladies. And it's fun to see their sweet relationships as sisters. They are such a beautiful bunch of girls. May God bless them as they grow up to be Godly young ladies.

God Bless you Lily and Ellie

P.S. Congrats on your engagement Ellie. So happy for you.

  3. To be honest,I find the rifle laying on the ground rather disturbing. Wether or not it is loaded or there are enough adults there, it looks very careless indeed. Even more so with young children around.

    1. Re gun lying on the ground. Perhaps it's just an airsoft rifle?

  5. Children should not be allowed to handle guns!!!

  6. In one of the pictures Ben is actually wearing a shirt that fits! Way to go Ben!

  7. Jessa's buttons on her sweater isn't fastened around her waist. Just wondering if maybe the reason being she is pregnant? Especially since she didn't directly say no the question when asked.
Also, I can't imagine traveling all the way to Texas being 2 weeks shy of my due date. And how much vacation time does Derick have? Wouldn't he want to save that time for when the baby is born? Maybe he is on paternal leave already?
Jill does look stunning though.. Pregnancy definitely agrees with her. She is almost the prettiest Duggar girl now. Almost, because Jana is the prettiest, IMO.

Jill sure does not want to miss out on any fun...still traveling... I would probably do the same:-)
Wish I saw a pic of Anna
As for the picture I'm sure everyone is going to comment on...I wasn't there. I don't know how it happened. Clearly, she isn't unnatended there is a camera right behind her.

  14. I know gun culture in the USA is very open, but I have never used a gun to go fishing. Also a gun lying on the ground with young children running around is very worry some. I grow up in a house that owned several guns and my parents would have never allowed anyone to allow the guns to be lying around like that. Why is Jim-bob and Michelle not teaching these children gun safety if the own guns and the older children are allow to shoot targets?

  15. Where did you find another house so big as to accommodate all of you?

  28. We know Derrick and Ben's last names. Do they constantly have to remind us?
I am also wondering about what appears to be the lack of schooling. I am not against homeschooling, but we never see the school age children doing school work.

  29. I think Jana and Tim Tiebow should start a nice friendship and see where it goes from there. I think they have a lot of same values and beliefs. Especially that God is number one in their lives. Jim Bob and Michelle should get the ball rolling like they did with Jill and Jessa's relationships.

  40. I have to say that lately, all the Duggars seem to do is vacation. There is nothing Christ like in constantly taking trips. I have become very disappointed in the show and the Duggar family
in the last few years. It seems as if they are just movie stars.

  48. First of all for all those people who have written comments:

Jana was wearing a skirt on top of her pants: I do this a lot as well as stockings to keep me warm.
People like to where bare feet sometimes, especially children!
Guns aren't bad unless they are used toward people and do you seriously think that the Duggars would be that silly to leave a gun unsupervised, especially if loaded?!!
Homeschooling is full of flexibilty! You learn things by being on a vacation in nature too! Think of all the school excursions. And wouldn't it be rather boring for most people to just see photos of the kids sitting and studying??
Honestly! The Duggars do go on a lot of vacations but I would too if I could afford it! They don't neglect their family but rather strengthen the family relations and their faith by being together and enjoying each others' company and God's love.

Love the beautiful photos! Wish they had captions under them to explain them, but I still love those photos! Please post as many as you have :D God bless from a large Christian homeschooling family girl!

  54. Really people? If you have nothing nice to say then please move along. Not having shoes on is no big deal, especially here in TEXAS!! They are out having fun in the country by the WATER! Get over it!!!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Why is that all we get to see is trips and all their good times? Can't you make it a little more real so the average person can relate? This show sure has strayed from its humble beginnings.

    ReplyDelete
  56. To all worrying about a lack of schooling, remember that learning can still take place outside of a classroom setting, plus here in the Midwest it's Spring Break so even regular schools are closed. The guns do worry me. Hope gun safety is a big part of their education, too.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Is that a gun on the ground by Josie?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Uncle Joseph is so cute with the kids. I cannot wait until he is married and has some. Tiny little Michelle looked cute with the fish.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Nice to have the whole family together but isn't risky for Jill to travel that far so close to delivery?

    ReplyDelete
  60. they mentioned they were probably going to be using family members names, instead of sticking w/ just one letter.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I don't see Josiah anywhere?

    ReplyDelete
  62. Looks like fun! Wow Jill, looks great! Looks like baby Dilly has dropped... any day now! Blessings to the Duggar, Dillard and Seawald Family! Knew there was going to be a gun freak out minute there... As for gun safety the kids know gun safety. You see that by watching the show over the years. Josie has plenty of family/watchful eyes very close by her and the gun. Not to mention it could be a pellet or BB gun, plus the safety could be on and probably is. People always got to find something to pick on the Duggars about. I read about Ben's shirt fitting, Is Jessa hiding a pregnancy, Kids shouldn't use guns, they should be in school, Jill shouldn't be traveling, Josh isn't working enough, the kids need to wear shoes, the kids are to young to be in the boat alone... Oh my goodness People if You don't like the Duggars... Why read their Blog? I mean seriously... God Bless the Duggar family! and to poor readers/critics who have so much anger and unkindness in their hearts.

  63. I saw them well michelle and a few of her girls at wal mart tonight here in San antonio

    ReplyDelete
  64. I understand in the US you can use guns. But I do not understand why on holiday pictures published we can see so many guns.... Is it educational ? Is there any other way for children to have fun ?

    ReplyDelete
  65. I agree with Anonymous 41-The Duggars vacation more than any other family I know, size not mattering! Even Derick and Josh seem to have unlimited time off from their jobs! I love to vacation with my family, too; but we don't home school and my husband gets only 4 weeks off (after 25 years with the same co.). My reaction is Jim Bob and Michelle do not value or prioritize education and job responsibilities for their children.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Anonymous 57-point on!!!

    ReplyDelete
  67. I thought Joseph was going to college now. Was this spring break or something for him? Same question for Derick in regards to his job. Wish they had shown a better pic of Anna. The kids are adorable and getting big. Looks like a great spot for a vacation.!!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Two hours of school a day? Is this what the Duggars have said?

    ReplyDelete
  69. Seems odd that an adult needs to cover up with extra layers when a small child is barefoot in the same spot. We don't want anyone to get hurt. Please look over pictures better before they are uploaded. To the family not you two. Since the family is constantly showing photos holding weapons we get it they have guns around. But when they are not in the hands of an older person it is a genuine concern for others seeing that. We see many homeschoolers go on to typical accredited higher education but not the Duggars yet. So when we almost never see the younger kids doing schoolwork it further makes people wonder if they are being prepared for life that they have the academic skills to enter university IF they wanted to. And I mean university. With 19 kids you would think one of them would pick a traditional accredited program and not just a trade or some online classes. Some online classes is normal for college but not all classes online. I will also find it odd if none of the boys, since a girl would be discouraged, fails to join the US military. Ten boys! Trade school is fine but if one of the adults had been able to complete a four year degree program without bringing mom to class at the local college that is accredited, like Derrick, people would not wonder about the kids always being on the road, or away from parents on the road, that they are still getting their math and reading and such. Cause their older sibling got a 22 on the ACT, accepted to school, and got a degree in accounting or engineering.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Two hours in the days that you DO schooling is insufficient to cover the subjects and learn the material that needs to be taught and absorbed. With all those people moving about the house, it is NOT a quiet learning environment to say the least. With all the travel and other distractions this family has, they can't fulfill their minimum educational hours if you ask me...and are not doing so either. they really need to have grade level aptitude written tests and see where they really are.

    ReplyDelete
  71. where is Jim Bob?

  72. It looks like you are having fun on vacation. God bless. Good luck with your delivery Jill. I hope everything goes well. Jill, do not mind what people say about you traveling so close to your due date. I look at it this way there are hospitals everywhere in case the time has come. Congratulations to Josh and Anna on another baby; keep them coming. God has truly blessed you all enormously.

  73. Ditto #57!

    Fancy lodging.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I'm all for guns (along with gun safety, of course), but that picture of the gun with Josie that everyone is freaked out about was really just asking for an uproar... If you don't want it to be made into a big deal, don't post it.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I am a conservative, homeschooling, gun owner, and I can't believe how unsafe the Duggars
are with their guns. You should always treat a gun as if it is loaded, even if it is a BB gun. It does
seem as if an accident is just waiting to happen with all the kids around. Not a good example of
    gun ownership by the family.

    ReplyDelete
  76. It's nice to see that the whole family could spend a little vacation time together. Or, maybe it was one big field trip. I love how with homeschooling, you are continually learning. "School" doesn't just happen within four walls.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Why not? It's not like she flew out there. And she has trained to be a midwife and Jana has trained to assist. It's not like they are clueless. Plus, she was planning on having a home birth anyway. And I am sure there was a hospital nearby in case they needed it.

    ReplyDelete
  78. by going bare feet you actually strengthen your foot muscles, including your ankles. It is also very nice to go bare foot, especially around water! Gun wouldn't be left loaded around children and they would be taught about guns. Why would you have photos or videos of kids doing schoolwork? It would distract the poor kids rather than get the fans an input on their day..

    ReplyDelete
  79. It doesn't get any better than that, (but where's JB - maybe behind the camera?).

    ReplyDelete
  80. Does anyone know where in Texas this was? Just curious.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Children don't need guns. Why post that photo?

    ReplyDelete
  82. SO, are the Duggars still praying about adoption???

    ReplyDelete
  83. I find it wonderful that no matter what they do as a family they have fun!

    ReplyDelete
  84. Looks like a great time was had by all; enjoying nature and spending family time together without distractions. Noticed a few questions about the gun; they are necessary when you get out in the grasses and around water due to water mocassins, copperheads and rattlesnakes. The gun is a necessary precaution and safety measure.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I love Derick's shirt in the pics where he, Jill, Jessa, and Ben are standing by the lake (and also in the picture of just him and Jill:) Derick is going to be such a good Daddy!

  86. @Laura Wilcox-I agree with you; sure seems like Josh is away with his family an often lot! My husband has finally earned 4 weeks vacation after 25 years with the same company. Derick, seems to have the same liberal vacation plan as Josh? And, now Derrick and Josh will need parental leave!
