Mama's Going to Have Another Baby!

How did Jim Bob and Michelle break the news of their pregnancy to the family? Very creatively, and at a time when everyone least expected it!

Jim Bob called Grandma, Michelle, the kids, and Josh and Anna together for a group picture. He arranged the troops according to height and then stepped back, camera in hand. "Everybody smile and say, 'Mama's going to have another baby!" The proud father then proceeded to capture the Kodak moment on camera. What were the reactions? Utter shock, disbelief, and elation!

How have you announced a pregnancy or other big news to family and friends?

  8. I thought that was such a cute idea. I am soooo happy and excited for the Duggars!!!! We just finished watching last night's episode (we record them every week) and we noticed at the end, Josh said something to the effect of, "They're not the only ones who have an announcement to make." Josh and Anna wouldn't be having another so soon... but it makes you wonder. Any news on that?

  9. Hi Readers!

We will look around to see if we can find the picture. It was shown on last night's episode, if any of you were able to watch that.

    Thanks for reading!

  10. Hi Joy!

That was just a joke on Josh's part. After he said that, he followed it up with "Anna's not pregnant."

    Thanks for reading!

  11. I saw the show last night and they were all ecstatic, INCLUDING the older children. They even spoke to the camera of their happiness.

  13. I wonder if the older girls are not thrilled with another pregnancy. Since they are old enough to know medically what happened last time, they may feel some worry about a permature birth, pre eclampsia or other problems. I suppose they know the risks and that may take away from their total joy.

  14. Make sure you get a picture when you announce "Mommas not having any more babies" .That would be a good one too.!

  15. My husband and I found out about our second baby just before Christmas time so we gave all the grandparents a small baby in a pretty bag saying "Congrats"!

  17. Hello duggers
what is interesting about you guys babys keep
comming alot of your help comes from your
older children. how would you manage without them i know god supplies raise your younger children without your older children if there wasn'
for your older children you wouln't have so much
time on your hands to make more.you keep saying
everyone is happy lets talk to your older children
when that statment is made it's yours not theirs.
I would like an interview just with the children about their thoughts.don't get me wrong i love
children but there is a time to stop. I never hear
about your children playing sports or doing church
gatherings in their age group at your church what
ever that may be. let them be kids. your cildren
are very polite they won't say no to your request
for babysitting so you can do what ever.

We will look around to see if we can find the picture. It was shown on last night's episode, if you are able to watch that. The episodes can also be purchased on iTunes and Amazon US.

    Have a blessed week!

  19. hi the Dugger family i try and watch your show. i believe you have a very good christian family. to bad the world wouldn't follow Bible principles and teach there children when there babies all about God, and set examples to there family, no wonder the world is in such a wicked state that it is. they have all forgotten about God and Bible principles . God bless your family. with warm christian love elma remando from saskatoon, saskatchewan canada.

  22. I missed the show but I hope to see it if they repeat it . I think the news is wonderful about the 20th baby! With everyone of our kids I felt blessed beyond words.

  23. As much as i enjoy their show, i think its incredibly sad and selfish of these parents. They have a premmie who's going to become the responcibility of the older children, not fair!! Now in previous episodes JB talks of the importance of self control...where on earth is his??

  24. I'm 42 and having #9. Nice to know I may still be able to have kids at 45. Good for you! I love what I heard Michelle say one time,"Children are like flowers, you can't have too many." Amen to that. Abundant Blessings!

  25. Congratulations!! Your family is such a pleasure to watch. The new baby will be very lucky to join all of you! Hoping sweet Michelle has a healthy pregnancy and healthy baby! Sending you all lots of love.

  26. My mom lost a lot of blood and got real sick when she had my little brother (her 8th). She had the good sense to stop having kids then. I feel sorry for those girls. Like Joy-Anna on up. They know whats going on and they are probably very worried about their mom and this baby. I would hate for those kids to have to grow up without a mom if something were to happen... I hope all goes well. Don't get me wrong, I love the Duggars. They are amazing people. I just don't necessarily agree with them having another kid. But if they feel they can do it, kodos to them!

  27. My last child (I have three, although I have been pregnant four times, I miscarried one child.)was with my second marriage. Ironically I found out right before Father's Day, so I called my husband and said "Happy Father's Day, we are pregnant"
The first child I bought a card and wrote inside "The rabbit died" and gave it to the family. I don't remember how I announced the other two.
As far as the Duggers, I like the letter "J". My boyfriend's initials are JJJ :)
I think Jay (that is what we call my boyfriend) if it's a boy. I also like the names Jayson or Jaymi. Those were the two names I came up with if I was to get pregnant with my boyfriend now. But I can't have anymore children. Jaymi is combining mine (Miko) and my bf's names together, which explains the way it's spelled. I would be tickled if they named their child the names I chose cause I no longer can have anymore.
best of luck to Michelle and Jim Bob. It's hard to raise 1 child alone, much less 20!

  29. I agree the older girls have to do to much . I do love how the family is polite to each other and helps people in need.

  30. I had the joy and sorrow of announceing to my family after a scare during my pregnancy early on that we had lost a baby and before they could say the oh I'm so sorries I quickley said but don't worry the other 2 are just fine, everyone had to sit down when they heard that, not sure what was the bigger blow that we lost the triplet, that we could have had triplets or that we were expecting twins lol either way Josiah and Dearb`Hail are 16 months and beautifully healthy
I love the interview in the dugger books explaining the volunteer things the older kids do how they run their own businesses and volunteer at hospitals and firefighters, it is great they are so well rounded and are able to do their own thing, but still enjoy their family I can only hope my 3 and more if god allows will be the same way

  31. "Children are like flowers, you can't have too many." Flowers do not use electricity and other resources, create that much waste, pollute air. If you have flowers in the vase you do not rush out to buy more. If you want to have more "flowers", think about overpopulation and children in orphanages, try to save one of their lives instead of creating one more human being!

  32. I just want to say how much I admire the Duggar family for their courage, faith, and unselfishness. It is a rare thing in today's world to trust the Lord enough to have 20 children. And they are doing a wonderful job of raising them, too.

  33. I love this show but I think that their total disreguard for the health and well being of both mother and infant is ridiculous. I would have thought that Josie would have been God's warning to them to stop, but it wasn't. I pray this baby is medically ok and that Michelle and JimBob learn to say "no".

  34. While I admire the Duggars in many ways, and they clearly have a happy and wholesome family, I can't understand why reproduction is the one area of their lives they feel like they are not allowed to have any control over. Michelle has expressed her disapproval for using BC pills, but what about Jim-Bob having a vasectomy? I guess their goal is simply to have as many children as humanly possible, but I'm so disappointed in them for having another baby after Michelle and Josie almost died two years ago. I would have had the utmost respect if they had come out and said, "As a family, we have decided that for our health and well-being, we will not have more children."

  36. The Duggar parents have recently announced that they are pregnant with their 20th child. I am so happy for them and I hope that Michelle has a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby!
Yet the negativity and utter hatred towards them is 9 out of every 10 comments I see online. I feel that it is because so many people are brainwashed and damaged by our corrupted culture and society. People think religion is bad, they think having lots of kids is a bad thing. They cry about "overpopulation", but the Duggars are taking care of their family and all their kids. If everyone had the values and principles that they have the world would be a much better place!! As far as I see it, they are not contributing to overpopulation at all, because people like the Duggars are like an endangered species on this planet! We need MORE people like them in the world! :)

  37. I have two stories about this one. For my now 2 year old, we had just suffered a miscarriage and not even a month later discovered we were still pregnant. My dad knew about the miscarriage. I called him up on the telephone and told him at 4:00 in the morning and said "Daddy, it's blue!" My mom told my step dad she was pregnant by saying it's blue. My dad's response was one of shock and happy tears, "Are you sure baby girl that it's blue? What if it's pink?" Due to our history of miscarriages, we didn't make any formal announcements until I was 5 months pregnant to everyone else. Fast forward 1 1/2 years later, Thanksgiving time, I'm sick just cleaning the turkey and making stuffing. We think it's the flu until a positive test about a week before Christmas when we head to New York to spend it with my husband's family. His Aunt asks me to hand her squid she has soaking in milk, I keep running to the bathroom. She asks me if I'm okay...I look at my husband and say "Should we tell her?" Her response is "Tell me what?" I tell her, "Usually I'm okay with fish and everything, but right now I'm not because we are going to have another baby in July." "ARE YOU SERIOUS? Come here so I can hug you after I wash my hands. Put down that bag of potatoes...sit sit.." And on and on it went :-)

  39. I am praying for mom, baby and family that this next pregnancy goes well & safely. Children are blessings & God is incontrol, however he also gave us free will to make our own choices in our future. Please think of your exsisting family when making desicions on expanding your family knowing the risks. You are a wonderful mother & your children need you. God Bless you all!

  40. Sweet stories, best comments on this whole blog! My third announcement was a little creative. I held a tiny doll in my hand and said to my Mimi and mom, "I'm glad little brother has learned to say "baby," because ours may be about this big right now." We had an old friend from Canada and Japan visiting, and he was right pleased to be included. Everyone but my mom was surprised. Moms always suspect shenanigans.
