Forsyths' New House

Joy and Austin Forsyth bought a house, and this time, they are going to live in it. The house has three bedrooms and three bathrooms and should be ready for move-in soon. The Forsyths have been living in a camper for about 18 months. They have also been working on a spec house to sell, as well.

  2. Wow I like the look of this kitchen guys, very modern & bright. Mind you I love the caravan you currently live in (RV I think you call them in the US). It’s amazing & I would happily live in it myself now my kids have grown up. It will be so nice though for Gideon to have a garden to play in & more space for joy & Austin too. That kitchen looks like it will become the heart of the house. I hope it’s completed soon & you guys enjoy furnishing & decorating your new home. You both deserve some happiness.

  3. Oh, the new house looks like it is going to be beautiful! I am so happy for the Forsyths. They are hard workers and I think they deserve a home of their own. Good job guys. Gideon is such a cutie as well, and such a happy kiddo. Can't wait to see more of the house.

  4. That’s nice but why don’t the cabinets go to the ceiling, there’s a gap, that will collect a lot of dust, that’s the problem I have

    1. I guess it's a good thing this isn't your kitchen. I find it odd that you would say you have a problem with their kitchen design. Rude.

      Delete
    2. You need cats to run around up there and dust for you.

    3. They can still store stuff on top of the cabinets. Or just decorate it with cute stuff. My astonishment is the white cabinets. They won't be white for long with little kids! :)

      Delete
    4. That depends on what the cabinets are covered in. Some cabinet surfaces are easily wiped off.

      Delete
    5. I have white, but they came that way from Merilatt and they're vinyl coated, not painted. I've had them for 25 years and they still look new. They're very easy to wipe clean and the white shows you exactly when you need to wipe.

    6. 9:56 -- My thoughts exactly. Cabinets to the ceiling would be a cleaner look and not catch dust. But it does look nice.

    7. That up and down, mismatched heights, even mismatched colors, is big in kitchens right now. But as with everything else, that trend will eventually look dated.

      Delete
    8. Anonymous November 20, 2019 at 6:00 PM, if you look at the cabinet that is higher than the rest in the middle of the back wall, that is where the stove is going to be at, so maybe the height is not the trend but due to practicality.

      Delete
    9. My thoughts exactly! They’ll regret not spending the extra money to extend the cabinets to the ceiling.

    10. Seriously! I think the kitchen will be great, I have space above my cabinets for my ceramic chicken collection. I also have very light colored cabinets and they stay clean, I simply wipe them off with a damp cloth..just as clean as dark colored cabinets which we got rid of because the room seemed so dark. I a happy they have a home!

  5. That's wonderful news. I hope this helps them to further settle as a family. Heal from their loss and prepare for their future.

  6. I'm so happy to hear this. Although the camper was cute and coxy this move will be even better. I just love this family and their honesty. I hope we will see pictures later of their house when they get settled in.

  7. She says they plan to "settle down" and "live in this one for awhile." Living somewhere for awhile is not settling down.

    1. It is, when you move into a new house you can never know whether you'll be able to stay in for 30 years, more, or have to move earlier because of some even you cannot predict ! Life has surprises :)

    2. Why do people always find fault.... congrats Joy and Austin, enjoy your new place.

    3. If they live in it for the next 10 years then yes, that is settling down.

  8. Dear Joy and Austin, I am happy that you're moving into a new house. I know time has flown by. I am sorry about Anna Belle. I hope in time that you will have a little one. I can't wait to see the new house on Counting on. Natasha B.

  9. Only recently Joy Anna said she loved their tiny camper and it was all they needed. That changed in a hurry-LOL!

    1. I wish I had always loved what I had and not been unhappy about what I did have. Looks like Joy "blooms where she's planted". Good for her!

    2. This has been good for them as they move through their grief....something to focus on, a new home is always exciting.

  10. Very nice, I think if I were that young I would find it an adventure to live in a camper for a bit, it’s good they got the experience, probably saved them money and bonus if they are keeping the camper they’ll be set for camping!

  11. Very good news!!
This sounds like a home they can GROW into!!
Having built 2 homes ourselves (with the help of contractors), I know it's hard but it's worth all the trials and tribulations. Well done, Joy and Austin!

  12. How cool! So happy for Joy! She deserves a real home.

  13. Only time will tell if they stay or sell this one...

  14. I don't understand why they BOUGHT a house built by someone else. Can anyone explain why they did that when Austin builds houses.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't think he builds houses. To my understanding, Austin "just" flips them, so he improves/repairs/modernizes, etc. existing houses.

      Delete
    2. They buy houses in need of repairs, fix them up, and either sell it or use it themselves. Austin has been doing this for years; started several years before he started courting Joy. This is no different.

      Delete
    3. He does build homes, he also flips homes (flipping is basically remodeling and then selling). Perhaps it was a great financial choice or the location is perfect....be happy for this young couple.

      Delete
    4. Building a house from the ground up is far more expensive then buying.

      Delete
    5. He doesn’t build them... he buys them and flips them to increase their market value and profit that way. I don’t think he has ever said he builds.

      Delete
    6. I thought that he rehabs houses, not actually builds them.

      Delete
    7. Maybe it was cheaper to renovate then to start from scratch?

      Delete
    8. He remodels houses. I don't think he has built any of them from the ground up.

  15. That kitchen looks huge!! A dream home. Really lovely that they managed to buy a house to settle into!! Congratulations Joy & Austin!!!

  16. Another Duggar mystery. Austin builds houses to sell, but they buy a house someone else built.

    1. They are probably remodeling

    2. No mystery to me....choice.

    4. He flips houses. He doesn't build them. Mystery solved.

  17. I thought they were living in a house that they renovated. Did they sell it and thus had to move to a camper again? With a family, it is time for a regular house for them. Do your flipping without involving your family.

    1. There is a very famous couple who flip houses that moved several times until they could finally afford their dream house. Flippers often live in a flip house for a bit then move on.

      Delete
    2. According to past posts, they sold the first house they lived in, then were in the camper for 18 months while Austin built and sold a house and was building another house to sell. This deal for a house for the to live in seems to be separate from the houses Austin built.

      Delete
    3. ?? Reread the post. They are moving into a house after living in an rv.

  18. $10 for the house and land, purchased from Jim Bob. Another $10 for an adjacent piece of land. Why doesn't anyone in this family acknowledge what they really do with all these property transfers? This is public record, not like you can hide it.

    1. I think you are assuming....if not perhaps you can provide documentation.

      Delete
    2. Why is it any of our business? The family doesn't have to tell us all of its business. Personally.....it's not important to me.

      Delete
    3. Anon 5.11. So do you know for sure that Austin & Joy paid $10 for the house & $10 for the land from JB ? Austin works hard so just perhaps this house they have bought has absolutely nothing to do with JB. I get the feeling Austin is very much his own man & does not want handouts from his father in law, both he & Joy are taking less & less part in counting on & as much as I miss this couple on the show more, I totally respect their reasons for wanting a more private life. It’s also nice following them on Instagram & I can catch up with what they are up to that way, without being too invasive.

      Delete
    4. Really?! You know that for sure?

      Delete
    5. Who cares?? There's nothing illegal in what they're doing, and it's their business, not ours.

      Delete
    6. What sort of nefarious activity do you propose that they "really do with all these property transfers"?

      Delete
    7. I know. They make it sound on the show like these kids are so skilled, so adult, so responsible, and so on...but in reality, they're being propped up by Mom and Dad via the many Duggar businesses (with Jim Bob or Michelle being the Investor/Originator, the actual owner, or have set them up in business). I have no issue with parents gifting their children, but I do an issue with promoting the children as being so adult/responsible/self-sufficient, while you're quietly gifting them/setting them up in business or providing homes for the married couples behind the scenes. It's just dishonest.

      Delete
    8. Probably Jim Bob got fed up with the situation that his daughter is living in a trailer and just gave them the house. Jessa already "bought" her house from Jim Bob for $1.

      Delete
    9. What's wrong with what they did? Besides the obvious weirdness of having a family "compound" where the adult kids are always under watch by mom and dad. There's nothing wrong with selling your land cheap to a family member.

      Delete
    10. Probably their payment for being on the show!

      Delete
    11. Anon 1:21 There's nothing wrong with JB and Michelle subsidizing their lives but Joy and Austin should acknowledge their generosity instead of making it seem like they bought the house for what everyone else would have to pay.

      Delete
    12. Anon @1:21 AM - it's not "selling it cheap to a family member", it's just a property transfer. Sometimes there is an agreement that the "buyer" will pay some money not officially, so that "seller" would not have an extra income to pay taxes on.

      Delete
    13. When I watch this show, I have to remember that the Duggar's are a family AND a business. The tv episodes depict a large, loving family but underneath, is a business with contracts, salaries, market share, etc. Nothing wrong with that but I try to remember to keep it all in perspective.

      Delete
    14. Assume much? Y'all must like guessing games! If you have documentation, show it, otherwise......................

      Delete
    15. There're public records that show they paid Jim Bob $10 for the house.

      Delete
    16. Spot on 12:13. They never acknowledge how they come to have these huge or renovated houses. Just be honest about it.

      Delete
    17. @12:30 If you "gift" someone cash or assets (land, etc.) over $15K per calendar year, you have to fill out a gift tax form. Also, any bank deposits over $10K are reported to the IRS. If you pay money "not officially" to avoid taxes, then you're not following the IRS rules.

    18. What many of you are forgetting that different states have different rules. The rules of real estate are in accordance to STATE law, not federal law, as the property transfers are recorded in the COUNTY where the property is located. Even the property tax is paid to the COUNTY as well.

Also, it is very common to sell real estate on the cheap.

  22. good for them! joy-anna seems like the type who would rather start with nothing and make it spectacular rather than have a move-in-ready house. look at the cute job she did with their camper! i'm so happy for them

  23. Good they move in something spacious. Now Gideon has room to play. The RV was cute, but not suitable for a family.

  24. So impressed with this hard working and ambitious couple. It's amazing people could find any reason to complain about this. It goes to show that those that hate the Duggars are going to complain and make accusations no matter how nice or good a post is of their actions or words. The complaints on this post should make it clear the complainers are not fair and open minded on this family. They are just trying to tear them down. The thing is the family just keeps living their lives to the fullest. Good for them.

    1. How is fixing up a house you're given by your parents "hard work"? Do you realize what most people have to do to get such a roof over their heads at that age?

    2. How is fixing up a house not hard work??

  25. Are those painted cabinets being held up by toothpicks lol... Anyway, I don’t believe Austin builds houses, he flips houses. They probably flipped the first house so they could have money for a down payment for the house they really want. Mabye the first house wasn’t in the location they wanted. I think it’s great how they work together. I’ve had friends who’s husbands did all the work and they didn’t lift a finger except when it came to the fun part, decorating. When we bought our house, I was mudding, taping and sanding drywall, painting, caulking, cleaning gutters, yard work...the list goes on...

    1. That sounds like Erin Paine! She lets her husband do all the dirty work (and even creates projects for him). Then she steps in when it's time to decorate.

    2. Um, Chad is a grown man and can tell his wife no. And he enjoys carpentry. It's not "the dirty work" to him. She enjoys decorating, he enjoys carpentry. Sounds like a good division of labor to me.
