Birthday Dinner for Jordyn and Josie

In celebration of Josie Duggar's 9th birthday (December 10th) and Jordyn Duggar's 10th birthday (December 18th), Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar took the family members serving on a mission trip in Central America out to a local Pizza Hut. While it may not be the choice meal for adults, this restaurant is the perfect place for a children's birthday party.

    1. OH MY! - no black stockings on Michelle! I had to look twice. Wonder if JB approved??

    2. Anon 7:52. It's too hot in Honduras for black stockings so JB didn't have a say in the matter.

    3. Michelle is a person, not a puppet. She can wear whatever she wants! She looks great.

    4. She wore black stockings when they went to Hawaii. It’s nice to see she’s updated her look somewhat.

    5. 4:16- Not really. She’s expected to follow her husband’s lead.

    6. Anon 10:48 I don't think that means JB is supposed to give her fashion advice. I'm sure Michelle is capable of picking her own clothing without JB making the decisions for her.

    7. @10:48 Precisely. Which is why she has her hair long. "Our dad likes long hair" is what Jill said on the program a long time ago. So everyone has long hair. I'm waiting to see who the first one will be who cuts theirs short... That will be more momentous than pants.

  6. This is the first time I’ve seen Michelle in a somewhat fitted top and she looks great after having 19 children!

  7. Any particular reason Jana and Michelle are wearing the same colors?

    1. Looks like they're wearing their team shirt. When they go on these missions trips the whole group usually has team shirts.

      Delete
    2. Probably cause they wanted to match. So sweet.

      Delete
    3. Jana and Michelles shirts are different colors, and Michelles has an Old Navy logo on the front, so it is not a 'team' shirt.

      Delete
    4. Haha, I take back the team shirt comment. I just enlarged the pic and realized they're not wearing the same shirt. Guess they just wanted to match colors.

  11. Poor Jordyn. Her birthday always gets overshadowed by Josie's. Let her have her own day!

    1. She had her own party one year, and IIRC, she was greatly embarrassed by the attention. I think she was the one who got the dress from the thrift store as as present.

    2. 1:28, you’re right. I hadn’t noticed that. Jordyn seems to be lost in the shuffle; poor kid.

    3. I felt bad for her when she was still a baby and was cheated out of so much mommy time because of Josie's crisis situation for so many months.

  12. I think they should do seperate celebrations for them. It's a big deal to a child. And kids remember these things. They might end up feeling less than at the time and it could stick with them later in life as well.

  13. Her birthday hasn't arrived yet - it is December 18th so I am sure she will get Her own birthday message on that day.

  14. Michelle looks fantastic!! I'm glad she's ditched the black stockings and ankle length skirts. Her married kids in-laws are all Christians too, but they don't dress in oppressive dark clothing. She still looks modest but more current! Way to go Michelle!

    1. My MIL had 8 kids and her legs were never without some sort of support stockings, even with shorts, even under pants. That many kids can ruin your leg veins!

    2. I find it interesting that no one ever has anything to say about men dressing modestly. Instead, it's all about the females, as if the fate of the human race depends upon the attire they choose when they get up in the morning. It's so double standard.

      Delete
    3. 10:41, that's been my guess about why she covers her legs in black. I have to admit that the same thing has cramped my style.

    4. Anon 2:50 As long as men don't wear those Speedo (tiny) bathing trunks there's nothing much they wear that's immodest. lol

      Delete
    5. 2:50 -- Normal men's clothing is not immodest. When they take off their shirts around town or are in speedos, then that's another story.

      Delete
    6. Men's clothes are modest lol... not much you can do to make them skimpy 😆😆

      Delete
    7. Men wear pants that are too tight. Most of the men pictured on this blog and the Bates blog could stand going up a size or two.

      Delete
    8. Anon 4:48 I don't think men going shirtless or wearing tiny Speedos is exactly "immodest" but the amount of flab that is usually displayed is pretty disgusting. lol

      Delete
    9. Anon 9:52. I'm not sure going up "a size or two" would help. It's the spandex that the makers insist on putting in jeans nowadays that make them fit like a second skin. I have a hard time finding ANY jeans that don't have it.

  15. I am confused. If the people are fleeing central America to come to the USA because of the violence and povery, why are the Duggars going there on a mission trip? I thought it was too violent. The pictures I see where the Duggars are doesn't look poverty ridden to me. Not with a Pizza Hut in the background.

    1. I’ve been in this area they are at! It is a beautiful area and the locals are so nice. The place where the Duggars are going (sos ministries) is perfectly safe. They have armed guards and have nice places to to sleep complete with electricity, running water and appliances. They are not in a violent area but rather a tourist community. However, the outskirts of town are horrendous and full of cartel violence.

      Delete
    2. So you only try to help the people in the tourist areas? You don't go to the outskirts of town, where people might need the most help? You live with modern conveniences while those you are supposed to be serving go without? How is this beneficial?

      Delete
    3. thanks for the reply

      Delete
    4. 12:37. Makes me wonder why SOS chose a tourist community.

    5. The people coming to the U.S. want free stuff... most don't want to work, they want to live off the govt and our taxes... shameful!

    6. The Duggars should go mission in Detroit or Chicago..

    7. 7:41 How do you feel about American citizens who have to be on welfare because of their circumstances? Do you have the same disdain for them?

      Delete
    8. Anon 4:29 - I'm not Anon 7:41 and I feel "disdain" for no one on welfare.

I do think government assistance should be first for citizens of the country that is providing it and should be a temporary measure to help someone successfully bridge to a life of self-sufficiency; it should not be a lifestyle choice. There are outlier cases where a citizen truly cannot sustain themselves and needs help from broader society indefinitely, and I happily support those cases as a taxpayer and through private charity organization I support. But those should be relatively rare outlier situations, not nearly as common as it has become in our society.

    1. Agree. It's like going to another country but only eating at McDonald's, the American side of the menu.

    2. This was for the little girls' birthday dinner. Maybe they asked the girls where they wanted to go. In years past we've seen video of the team eating more typical national fare.

    2. Yes I remember an old episode of the show where she went water skiing and specifically asked them to blur her knees. It was back when they had the blurbs pop up on the screen.
