Official Burnett-Duggar Wedding Photos

John-David Duggar wedding

We just can't get enough of John-David Duggar and Abbie Burnett's beautiful wedding! Below are our three favorite photos from their special day. It sure was a lovely event. If you missed the couple's vows, we posted them earlier this week. For those keeping count, this was the eighth Duggar wedding.

    1. Of course there are, but Josh is on them so they won't be shared.

    2. It's possible some of the groomsmen didn't want the photos to be too public and they are respecting their wishes.

    3. There are pictures of groomsmen on their website, there are just three visible and two are joseph and austin.

  4. Just curious...anybody know anything about the ring pops I saw in a pic while back?? I did not see it in the wedding videos.

  5. What a beautiful wedding! God bless their marriage.

  6. I just looked at the wedding photos on the Duggar website. I was surprised to see guests dressed so casually -- plaid shirts and jeans jackets on women. It didn't look like a casual wedding, per se. I'm in Los Angeles. Is that normal for other parts of the country? Not putting it down, just not used to seeing that.

    1. This happens at all the Duggar weddings. They dress like they're going to a formal party. The guests dress like they're going to Wal-Mart. What happened to dressing up or Sunday "church" clothes?

    2. as long as you dont wear white, pretty much anything goes here in florida. (fl is a transient state so we have a lot of people from different places!) unless it's stated otherwise (like very formal or a beach wedding) i think people usually go with their sunday clothes. a lot of men dont wear jackets to church either because of the heat and even church has become more casual dress so yes, it could definitely be a regional thing. it definitely is not uncommon to see several types of dress at weddings here

    3. Having lived in Oklahoma for several years, I would say this is typical attire. It’s not a very formal part of the country. There will always be exceptions, but my experience at places like attending plays in OKC showed many people to dress very informally. Since this was not an evening wedding, that is the attire I would expect to see at a wedding while I lived there.

    4. 3:48- Times change. I remember when we dressed up in our finest to fly or take a train... even just to go shopping! It was also a lot of work because there were no permanent press clothes, so everything had to be ironed. Women wore girdles and stockings, even on the hottest days. Wouldn't want those days back again for anything!

      Delete
    5. They don't have to wear girdles and stockings, but they should look like they're going to a church wedding. The guys are often the ones who dress the most casually, with jeans and stuff.

    6. 12:01 I’m so glad to see your comment and point of view.

    7. I think the guests are tired of dressing up to a Duggar wedding every few months. They are probably like, I will dress casually for this one and formally for the next.

    8. 5:46- If people are gracious enough to attend a wedding, one shouldn’t be critical of their clothing choices. The Duggar’s have a wedding nearly every month and many of the same guests attend.

    9. anon@5:46- I think a lot of people are just trying to be practical by buying and wearing clothes that are easy to care for, comfortable, and something that they can wear for most occasions. Men's suits/sportcoats are expensive and require dry cleaning. I hate wearing dresses, so instead have a few pair of black pants and semi-dressy tops. Unless you are in the wedding party, I don't think it really matters what the guests wear.

    11. The provinces of Alberta and Saksatchewan, as well as the states of Montana, Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, Texas and New Mexico people have casual and formal jean jackets. I saw lots of guests wearing formal clothes. Also, this century the time of the wedding and location of the reception tend to set the tone for how to dress for the wedding.

    12. I grew up in Texas and I’ve never seen a formal jean jacket.

    13. If people are gracious enough to invite you to their wedding, then you should be gracious enough to put some effort into how you dress, and step it up a notch or two.

      Delete
    14. 3:44- Then perhaps the bride and groom should specify in their wedding invitation that there's a dress code for those attending!

      Delete
    15. 8:44 -- You may be correct that some people need a dress code to know not to wear their work clothes to a wedding.

    16. I would never wear jeans to a wedding... very distasteful

    17. My grandmother would cut to the chase and say, "Were you raised in a barn?!" Of course everyone should know that a church wedding calls for getting dressed up. They shouldn't have to be told.

    18. I am from Nebraska and we dress up for weddings regardless of the time of day. I have never seen a formal jean jacket except in pictures from the 70s.

    1. Except for Jana, I have no idea who the others were. Probably Abbie's friends and/or relatives.

    2. I think most of them were her sisters, and friends.

    3. One is Jana, four of them are her sisters, and two are her friends.

    4. The 4 surrounding her are her sisters! I’m guessing the others are friends, but I’m not sure.

  14. ellie, could you please tell us which of the bridesmaids are abbie's sisters? i realize for privacy reasons you may not be able to name all the girls, but could you just say what number they are in the picture? jeremiah has been a chaperone and the girls are in a picture with them but no one is actually named as her sisters. just curious since you never know if there might be another courtship down the road!!

  17. There is still no photo of the whole wedding party, not even on the Duggar website, which there most likely has to be a picture. I understand that the photo has to be "TLC approved" on the TLC site, but the Duggar page doesn't. Hopefully, a picture will be shown in the near future.

    1. Well Josh was in the wedding party. Maybe they’re tired of hearing people bash their family any time they post a picture with him in it, even if he’s not the focus of the photo.

    2. It is not only that there is no photo of the groomsmen. There has not even been mention of who they all were. Joseph has been in pictures and apparently Josh and Austin and Zach Bates were in the party. What about Jed, Jer, Jason, James or Jackson? Or other friends? Have not heard a thing.

    3. Anon @ 11:34 The Duggars have no problem posting pictures of Josh, they have posted many over the past year. I think it is more likely contractural that they can't show him because of restrictions by TLC, however you would think they could show him on their own blog or facebook. I for one am happy that he is not shown, he neither needs or deserves the publicity.

      Delete
    4. 12:05 - 100% agree. Josh isn't entitled to publicity or fame. Focus shouldn't be on Josh anyway, it was Abbie and John who got married.
The Duggars aren't afraid of showing Josh. They included a video of Josh and Anna congratulating John and Abbie on their wedding day when they uploaded other family members celebrating the couple.
It is surprising that they haven't posted a family picture like they have after other weddings. Maybe a family-hired photographer is still working on photographs.

    5. He didn't ask all his brothers to be groomsmen .

  18. It amazes me how after getting used to all of the Duggar children their family does not seem so overly large! It is amazing that al- most half are already married and their are ONLY eleven children remaining at home now. Such a small group by comparison. Isn't that psychology....how to make more seem like less?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Still seems like a huge and overwhelming number to me.

    2. ONLY 11 children? I can’t even imagine having that many kids.

    3. 11:03 -- Yes, you're right. That is kind of a psychological trick, isn't it? :)
