TLC Promo: Duggar Siblings Speak Out

In the following sneak peek of Jill & Jessa: Counting On, a three-part mini series that begins this Sunday on TLC, Anna Duggar and a few of Jill and Jessa's siblings share their reactions to Josh Duggar's confessions of living a double life.

"It was like, I'm going to wake up, and everything is going to be okay, and this really, this can't be true," reveals Anna Duggar.

"I don't think there's any way any of us would have known that my brother was living such a secret life," shares Joseph Duggar.

"People are like, 'Y'all aren't perfect?' And we're like, 'We never claimed to be perfect,'" says Jessa Seewald.

  1. Nope. Not watching because a good deal of this is about Anna and Josh. Anna should not expose herself and her children to the public at this time. It is a private matter and she should be mature and deal with it privately.

    1. Don't you think it's up to her how she deals with it. Unless your name is Anna Duggar it's not up to you how she deals with it. With the family being in the public eye so much coming out publicly might be just the way to handle it. Either way it's not up to anyone else what she should do.

    2. This stopped being a private matter when Joshua decided to commit such acts of infedility on very public forums. This stopped being a private matter when the Duggar family signed a contract many years ago with TLC giving them permission to document their lives for television in the name of education. That's what happens when you have a reality show, your life is public interest, your job is making appearences. And more so, as good Christians with God on their lips, their jobs are to be examples of faith and Christ. Christ was a healer and a lover, but first and foremost he was a teacher.

    3. She has been dealing with it privately and now if she feels like it's time for her to talk then that's up to her. That does not make her immature. Js

    4. It's your choice not to watch just as its everyone else's choice to do what they feel in they're own heart 💜

    5. I agree with Lynda and would add that, while social media gives us the ability to comment on something in an instant, it isn't always wise. I'm sure that Anna has given this a lot of prayer and thought. She doesn't strike me as a women who responds without first contemplating the end result. I lesson we could all learn from I'm sure. God bless Anna and the whole family!

    6. It takes a lot more maturity to open up about your life problems to the whole world, rather than to just hide at home while the world wonders what you are actually feeling.

      Delete
    7. This is already incredibly public. Anna had nothing to do with the publicity.
Perhaps she can right some wrong thinking about her, at least.

      Delete
    8. Of course it's up the Anna. The previous poster was just sharing their opinion, which they are entitled to.

    9. Then don't watch! Every saint has a past, every sinner has a future!

    11. The Duggar family is Real and Genuine. I think it's important that as Christians we not act as though we're perfect to everyone. As Christians we can show how avid can bring us through the fires that sin and mistakes can take us into. It's a ministry for the Duggars to show how they have worked though this not by their own strength, but by God alone. They give God the glory and I will definitely be watching. I think most fans understand this.

It is up to us to stand up against him by using the tools that Christ provides for us, to wear our armour. 9. It is so sad people think Christians are sinless when it is not what we represent at all. Love and understanding appear to be more difficult than rash judgements based upon lack of knowledge. Josh is under an addictive behavior. People would sooner forgive drug addiction than sexual addictive behaviors.Sad. Blessings and happiness to you all.

    1. You are so right! He needs our prayers just as Anna and the entire family.

    2. I don't think anyone thinks Christians are sinless. However, many Christians (not all) are quick to pass judgment on the sins of others, when they are not sinless themselves, and such judgment can only be left to God. Josh and other Duggars have publicly issued many statements that judge others harshly (people of the LBQT community especially). Therein lies the frustration.

      Delete
    3. We don't pass judgement well some do but the conception that we all are quick to judge is huge misconception. Yes we May not believe in some things other people do doesn't mean we are passing judgement. I don't believe in gay marriage but have gay friends who are wonderful people. People act like we would cringe at the sight of gay people and we are labelled as homophobic. Homophobic means you have a phobia or are scared of gay people. We aren't scared of people just because we believe differently! So suddenly a gay person can be labeled as hetrophobic because they don't believe in traditional marriage? We are only putting forth what we believe to be true we are not trying to pass judgement and change everyone and conform everybody to what we believe it's just the opposite. We are not passing judgement we are all sinners we just want people to be aware of the judgement that we believe that god May pass and that we believe it is a sin against the body which is a mortal sin. Yes Josh is a hypocrite but all Christians are sinners but not all sinners are Christian.

  15. Ive been watching since the begining and to say I was devastated to hear the new about Josh is an understatment. I do feel as though Josh is recieving more attention because he is considered a reality star. This is not the first time anything like this has happened in the world and I feel people need to mind their own business and let your family heal from this pain.

  16. You all are an amazing family. God has you in the palm of his hand and their is a shield of protection over you now. You will grow stronger and closer to the Father because of this. And the most amazing part is that your situation that has come to light has and is being used for all to see the way to turn to God in a crisis. And His deliverance from it. Praying for you all and that the healing begins in ALL your lives. Praying the Presence of the Lord encompasses you all daily. In Jesus name amen

  17. My heart goes out to the Duggars. Watching this clip had me in tears. NO one knows what people go through unless it happens to them, even then it's never the same as others. It's different people and different stories. People that have so much to say don't live in your shoes... I pray for peace for all of you. I can't wait to see this series, and hope that others can have more compassion for you all... Many blessings always.

  21. I'm so glad you all are doing this follow up. While it is important to never minimize Josh's choices and actions, no person or family is without pain, struggle, or sin. I pray for restoration of your brother. I was saddened to see an attempt by the media to define the character of your entire family by his choices. There is SO much light in the love you all have for God and for each other. Your choice to be transparent and vulnerable (and not just about that one situation - about your life!) will absolutely be used to witness to the world. Finally, I pray for peace and healing and a time of quiet joy for each of you. God Bless you guys.

  22. such pain, and such happiness. I think your show and your experiences will be much more valuable to people after this is over. Before, I think the Duggars were kind of "other" to people...if that makes sense. This whole thing, as much as certain people have reveled in it, has made the family more real and more relatable. Because every family, *every family*, has sin and trauma and brokeness. Being able to see them come through this will inspire many people. I hope the miniseries will be available online or something. My heart is so with Anna through this, and I would love to see her in this.

  26. I'll be watching and praying for Josh and Anna. How judgemental are the few who would watch the Kardasians, Charlie Sheen or the other smut that is on TV, but condemn the Duggars because they are human. Josh made a horrible mistake with his sisters and his wife. Let them try to heal and stop trying to crucify them.
They are a wonderful, loving family, and I've enjoyed watching them grow. I wish the whole family was back on.

  32. None of us - NONE of us - is perfect, and that is why Jesus paid with His life to take our sin on Himself, and give us His righteousness. Without that no one would enter heaven, because God requires perfection to get there. All He asks is that we believe that He did it for us - that's all! That is salvation. Works follow from thankful, grateful hearts, and because we don't want God's chastening hand on our lives! Josh will no doubt have consequences to suffer, as will all of us who have disobeyed at one time or another (which includes us all!) but I believe if he has trusted Christ's work on the cross for his sins, that he is saved and going to heaven, and that this will not have impacted his salvation. By saying this I am in NO WAY minimizing the seriousness of what he did, and the impact that it will have, and is having, on him and on his entire family. God can and will forgive, but He does not always remove the consequences, so THINK VERY CAREFULLY about what you do before you do it!!

  33. Usually I am for the exposure of topics that can help one grow. However, this is a topic every single day we who live it are faced with. To us it can come across a little self righteous or perhaps cashing in on a topic that is a severe sore spot for many. For this reason I am not happy your family is going on TV to speak of this. It is a sad and very difficult time for you all, of this I am painfully sure. But it definitely is a private matter and needs to not be shared with the world in this manner.
If Josh and Ana were the only ones on the show, speaking to the effect of how this situation can happen and how to deal with the process, that would be a different situation. But he's in treatment now. This could push him over a very unhealthy edge. Not that I agree with what he did, but he does not need to be hung in public and his siblinhs, however hurt they may be, have no need to be cashing in on this very intimate situation. Just my opinion. By doing this, I have to say I am now having to turn my head the other way on this family. It is morally wrong on many levels. Sorry for Josh and Ana kids..... you will one day have to hear of all this.

  43. I hope and pray that people watching this will be blessed. I'm sure if we open our hearts to their struggles we can apply what we learn of how they're dealing with this to our own lives. No one is perfect. Jesus is perfect! He died for our sins. When He walked as a man of flesh He was tempted, just like us. He overcame the needs of the flesh and gave us lessons and examples of how to deal with situations. He didn't come to hang out with the sinless(or so many people think they are)but to help sinners overcome and strive towards perfection. I hope someone who really needs this family's experience as an example, will be blessed and be saved. God bless the Duggars.

  44. Hi, I'm all the way in Australia. I also understand what it's like to have someone in the immediate family that abuses trust. My ex husband did it in horrendous ways. But we are slowly recovering, still discuss the issues and like the Duggars, sticking together as a loving family should. Congratulations for taking the stance you have, unless you live in someone's shoes don't try to walk their journey. But please, respect the path they choose to follow. 48. We go through trials tests and God gives us testimonies THROUGH these trials and tests. He has PROMISED to work ALL things together for good, to those who love God and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28) God was not shocked as we all were, but He has a PLAN. I can see Josh going into schools to speak to children on the dangers of porn and sexting. God WILL use this for good in this family, and I truly believe Josh's testimony, when the time is right, will touch millions of people, and set them free!

  51. What were some of Christ's most important teachings? SURPRISE to those Christians who are so quick to condemn someone else's sins: FORGIVENESS and LOVE THY NEIGHBOR! Don't worry about someone ele's sins; worry about your own. NO ONE human being is perfect. God is our final judge, and His judgement is perfect. Those who condemn need to recognize Christ's great love for us. It is NOT our job to judge, it is our job to spread Christ's love. The most perfect way to achieve this is what our precious Lord taught us: forgive and love our neighbors. We need to be supportive of those who expose their sins. Whether that is to strictly immediate family or the entire world through the media, they are SEEKING forgiveness and help from whoever their audience happens to be. And hey, maybe that person wasn't ready to reveal their sins for whatever reason, aren't we still called to love our neighbor and offer them help through whatever means possible, even if that help is as simple as "taming our tongue" to prevent gossip/slander? The Bible tells how Paul calls gossip and slander a type of murder (Romans 1:28-32)! We are called to follow Jesus and be like him, no matter what. Even if the person next to you is sinning, we are to continue on the path of Jesus, not stopping and following the sinner by sinning ourselves (through shunning, belittling, finger pointing, gossip, etc). PLEASE folks...NO ONE human being is immune to sin and that includes you who call out the sinner; PUT ON THE ARMOR OF GOD AND FOLLOW JESUS. SPREAD THE LOVE OF GOD THROUGH FORGIVENESS AND SHOWING LOVE AND COMPASSION TO OTHERS...*ESPECIALLY THE SINNER*!! God bless you Anna and all the Duggar family for what you are going through. I have personal experience with what is happening to your family. I would not be where I am today without forgiving, showing love/compassion, and trying to help rather than hurt. I am not saying any of it is easy either. Physical pain would hurt less than the emotional pain! But through prayer, love, and devotion I was able to fight for what I knew God wanted. <3

  67. Although I miss watching them on TLC, I don't think focusing on Josh and his horrible actions is needed. Anna needs to think of her children first and protect them!
They've even said that the reason for this "special" is because Jessa wasn't able to get the "attention" for her pregnancy like Jill did. I'm sorry but things happen. Instead of making this special, they should focus on their family and be so ever thankful that Jessa didn't die in childbirth because of almost bleeding out. Focus on your family, focus on healing (from all aspects), and move forward.

She choose to stay with Josh for reasons only she knows and that's all that matters. And maybe this is a way for her to cope with what happen, talking about it. She is smart that she could say no I don't want to talk about it with you guys. She is speaking out cause she wants her voice heard not other people's speaking for her ie tabloids, news. She is being an incredible strong woman who is doing what she feel is right. It doesn't matter what everyone thinks of feels is right for her she has to do what is right.

  74. I am tired of people talking about Josh's 'mistakes'. They were CHOICES! He made horrible and awful choices with far reaching effects. He did not make horrible mistakes. His actions were deliberate and intentional. Calling them mistakes minimizes his responsibility in it all.

    1. Agreed! As a survivor of sexual abuse I am angered they refer to it as "childhood mistakes." He was neither a child nor were they mistakes. Sexual abuse, while certainly forgivable, stays with you for life. It damages you at a level not comprehensive to those who have not experienced it. Also, apparently Anna and Josh are writing love letters to each other. Again, while on the surface that seems sweet 16 weeks post "confession of adultery" is way to soon for that. Your mind and emotions haven't even had time to process that level of betrayal. Forgiveness isn't always reconciliation. And reconciliation takes more than a couple of months.

  75. I will always love the duggars, if they come bk to tv I will watch. Trust me, josh is suffering, only way is the peace that defies understanding. I would welcome a show back permanently but without josh, sorry, just without josh, Anna and the kids fine, love prayers and support

  76. I love the Duggars. And I won't watch that tv-series.

  77. The Duggars say they never claimed to be perfect, however, they did put themselves on a TV show and constantly referred to it as a "ministry" to "encourage" other families. While they didn't claim to be perfect, they did see themselves as role models that other families should be following.

  78. I WILL be watching!!! I have never missed an episode yet. The Duggar parents take their parental & religious responsibility seriously, and it show's though their actions. I learned a lot though them and now that the children are grown, there's more to learn and grow with them.

    Hi Wendi,

In the past, shows featuring the Duggars have been available on iTunes and Amazon 1-4 days after their premiere. Some readers have also mentioned watching them on Google Play. We will let you all know when/if the first episode of "Jill & Jessa: Counting On" becomes available.

    Blessings,

    Hi Mandy,

We encourage you to check your local listings. In the past, international viewers have not been able to watch the Duggars at the same time as those in the United States and Canada.

    Blessings,

  83. I can't wait to watch. I've missed the Duggars and would love the update on their family. I have often wondered how this has affected all of them. I think this will help others to learn how to deal with difficulties in life, which we all have. I think you offer hope.

  84. I have been praying and thinking about what and why Josh did what he did. First of all I believe the duggers are really God fearing people and I hurt for you during this time. Who knows but God a person's heart. I was wondering did Josh even have a personal relationship with Christ. Was he following what his parents taught out of love for his parents. Let's face it the dugger kids have a great blessing in their parents. Then the shows fame came with the enimie of our souls waiting to find a weakness to shut the light Christ out. Josh was the one....The warfare is real and principles.. Teaching ...examples were not enough and the enimie knew it. Bottom line did Josh have a deep devine relationship with Christ? It is my prayer that with Josh out of the limelight is where Christ can reach him and lead him love him...That changes everything!!! I hope so because if not the flesh alone is not enough to overcome...no matter how well meaning in his own strength. In His Great and Might Son Jesus name....

  85. First and foremost; JB and Michelle made the decision to have their family filmed for television, lead them into various public arenas and media. Such a decision no longer avails them the luxury of "privacy".
Josh made horrible choices; one, maybe due to his fundamental upbringing and the second, due to his freedom from accountability buddies ( he apparently still required at his age due to his immaturity and huge ego).
Jessa is no role model and her comments are limited at best. Jill is confused.
Please, Duggars, leave the public eye and revert to what you know best; pray, and focus on your family. We'll all live without watching you on television or reading about you in People!

  86. This promo is weird to me, mainly because I'm in it. It's weird seeing a 2 minute promo, and cutting between the Duggars and events and seeing yourself in there.

    1. I was at the event at the end of the first episode. Some of that footage is in the promo. It looks like they didn't have a lot of B roll footage for this episode, so that event is where a lot of the B roll inserts in the promos and episode came from
