Jill: "They Can't Do This to Us"

Tonight on The Kelly File, Jill Duggar Dillard and Jessa Duggar Seewald responded to those who are calling their family hypocrites. "We have never claimed to be a perfect family," said Jill.

  1. I just watched Jill and Jessa I was so proud of them. They did a great job. I am continuing to pray for the family through this. Unfortunately Hannity followed up the interview with a discussion. I was glad he had a pastor on there I was glad for what he said. But then he had a doctor who does not know what he is talking about. I got so upset I turned the channel. It is obvious this doctor does not know God and does not know about Biblical counseling that does do the job in helping those who have been hurt to heal.

  4. I cried for your family tonight. All of this is so, so wrong in so many ways. Your family has been violated in a way that never should have happened. The girls have been opened up to horrible, horrible comments. The show that so, so many people loved to watch every week has been taken off the air. Who wins by all of this? Only the devil worshippers that have no respect for good people, a good family doing a wonderful job of raising polite, respectful children. I don't know what to do anymore. I've written comments everywhere I can defending your family. I've posted to TLC condemning them for what they've done and not standing by you all. But it just seems like the haters are going to win. And it's just so wrong. I'm so sorry this is happening to you. I'm sorry for Josh that his heart wasn't strong enough when he was 14 to resist from what he did. I know he has turned his life around and is a wonderful husband and father. I'm sorry too for Anna and the children that they have been subjected to such vile, horrible comments and diatribe. I know with God's strength you will all come through this but I also pray that the rest of us that admire your family will get through it too.

    1. Well said. Forgivesss and healing in Christ cannot be understood by so many, esp.when they are not believers...this is sad for their family...so much judgment by so many....GOD will give them strength and wipe their tears.

  5. Good for them! What strong young women! I hope that those who released what was private information get sued...as victims, they have been failed by those very people that were sworn to protect them.

  6. May god continue to bless u. I am heartbroken over what has happened. Love this family and there values

  7. This makes me angry. Those girls are being made victims all over again. For something that happened long in the past, and is forgiven, to come up again is inexcusable. Especially the way the media sensationalizes it. I will pray for these girls and I really think someone needs to be sued.

  10. I am so heartbroken for you all! Stand firm in your faith in God!
Remember that when the enemy comes in like a flood, GOD will raise a standard against him! You are not alone! The Lord is with you. His angels have charge over you. I plead the blood of Jesus over you all! Satan can not come thru the blood. I pray for peace in this time of trouble for your family. Keep on standing up for Christ, he will never leave you or forsake you. Love in Christ

  21. You can see why Ms. Kellly is so impressed with the Jill and Jessa. They are lovely and elegant young women who have handled an extremely cruel privacy breach with dignity and incredible poise while being straightforward and open in sharing their story. As Ms. Kelly alluded to, it is heartbreaking that these wonderful women are are being deprived of what should be a joyous time of their life due to the selfishness of others. Jessa and Jill, please know that many are praying for your and that your poise represents "the light on the lamp stand" that will defeat the darkness in society. Your conviction that "the Lord works all things for good" is such a wonderful and uplifting inspiration for us all. It is amazing to me that, even as you walk through such a difficult time, you are still inspiring and uplifting others in your trust in the Lord.

  22. I'm glad Jim Bob & Michelle and the 2 Duggar sisters were able to get what really happened out. I'm saddened by 2 things: first and foremost - that the person who released this information did so against the law and I can count on 1 hand how many media are talking about that; and secondly - has anyone asked how Josh and his wife are handling all this?? I totally get that those on the left and many who don't know the love of Christ think he's some kind of scumbag that cannot change. However, I've seen people who've done much worse receive the forgiveness of the Lord and they are a new creation and live wonderful lives. I pray for the family -- but I have found myself praying more for Josh and his wife in all this. He's being portrayed as a monster, when the monster(s) were the ones who released the record, and the tabloid who first published it.

  23. I just wanted to say to Jim Bob and Michelle, congratulations , you daughters are lovely young woman who held their head up high and spoke very well.

  24. Great job girls! Thank you for sharing your stories.

  25. I have to admit I was disappointed, but very glad he came forward and admitted it. Unlike others (Bill Cosby) who denies everything. I am sure it was his good christian upbringing and their faith in God that got them through this. That would be hard to deal with and I think they handled it very well, I am praying for your family, and that tabloids will leave you alone..I pray your show stays on the air I am definitely missing it! Me and my family are going to WA DC next week and was hoping to run in to some Duggers, instead of the president, God Bess your family

  26. Seeing Jill's tears absolutely breaks my heart. This family has been dealt a horrible blow. It all seems so out of our control, like a nightmare that won't end. I'm praying hard for this family and that they will make the right decision about taking legal action. I still support the Duggars and look up to them as role models.

    ReplyDelete
  27. God will bless the Duggars. I think they did the things they thought were right. They protected all the kids God gave them. They got all help and decipline for the one who needed it. Why is no prosecutor, judge law enforcement arresting the ones who released the sealed record they did commit a crime.I am sure God will punish them as he blesses the Duggars.

  29. I've only seen the 7 minute video above since we don't have the Fox News channel, but I have to say I am SO PROUD of these 2 young women! What a testimony to the character they have, the amazing job Jim Bob and Michelle have done raising them and to God and what He can do with what the enemy intended for harm. Continued prayers for the whole Duggar family, and Josh and Anna especially. May God continue to receive the glory!

  30. Proud of you ladies! Keep your heads up. Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me."

  31. So proud that these two beautiful young ladies spoke out and tried to set the record straight. It is absolutely unnecessary formthe "trash" magines put this information out there. Who ever gave them this report should be arrested. I hope that person is proud of themselves for victimizing these young ladies. How would they feel if it was one of there family members? Ladies stay strong in the Lord and he will bring you thru this hard time and make uou a better person. You may never know why this happened to your family, but God has a plan for everythinh that happens in our lives. Stay strong in the Lord, be proud of the people you have become. God bless your entire family.

  32. This should have never been brought up again. This family like all families have their own issues but if said issues have been dealt with leave it along. God is the only one who has final say. God bless this family.

  35. I feel so bad for the girls. They have to relive this horrible time. They should have never released the records of minors.
Duggar family stay strong during this hard time. I pray that you have healing and take time with family right now. The Lord is good and will see you through this. You stand up for what you believe in and the devil wants to tear you apart. God knows the plans for your future.

  37. Truly & honestly.. that police report should have been confidential. I feel so sorry for the girls & Josh. in no way am I justifying anything but Josh was a boy, boys are curious as a teenager. in my honest opinion this should have been between the family! it's nobody else's business it's just reopening closed wounds. I'm am so sorry that you guys are going through this. please don't listen to some of these attention seeking hooligans. you guys are an amazing family & the Lord is with you all! This too shall pass. Stay strong!

  39. It totally breaks my heart that someone felt the need to try and destroy this amazing family. Jim Bob & Michelle have and are raising a beautiful, close knit family. I know that God will carry them through this trial and they will come out stronger in their faith. I will continue to pray for the Dugger family, for the young ladies that are being victimized, for Josh & Anna who will have to start over career wise, and the rest of the family to have peace & strength. Who among us hasn't done something in our youth that we would never want anyone to know. God bless you Dugger family.

  40. How dare they hurt our girls just for revenge without the consideration for the future victim's who will probably not come fourth now because of fear of it being leaked...bet she and they didn't think of that now did they.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm so sorry that your family is being attacked in such a vicious way. The devil is certainly working hard to destroy families because he knows his days are coming to an end. You are a strong family. You need each other now more than ever. Stay strong. Continue to be there for each other and pray together and you will get through this. The media wants to keep this story going because it means big money. No respect for the girls and how it's hurting them to rehash this. They need to stop this media circus and leave your family alone so you can heal. I love your family and will continue to pray for your healing and peace. God bless you all!

  42. Our family is praying for you all. We are so sorry that this has happened, but we are so blessed by how you glorify God in the handling of it. The Light that is in you is shining even brighter in this terribly dark world. Although, knowing that God is sovereign and will work all things for good, we realize how very difficult things must be for you all right now. May you continue to lean hard into Him and may you feel His peace as you continue to walk upright in His strength. We love you all.

  43. I wrote on this blog back on the 29th of May and I guess I may have done something wrong because my post never made it. I will attempt this again.

I have truly grown to love this family and have used many of their family practices in my own life. I have learned a lot. Thank you to this family for sharing such simple and easy steps to being better parents and followers of the Lord. I feel your example has helped to bring a better person out of me and my husband.
As others have stated, I too have cried and felt such an extreme heaviness for your family but really for the sad state of our country. In 2Corinthians 4:17, "For our light affliction is but for a moment but is working for us a far more eternal weight of glory". That verse is easy to say but not always so easy to experience and that is what is happening to all of you. You all are experiencing this horrid affliction on earth but your eternal life with Jesus will wash all of this away. I am sad and scared for the hateful people of this generation. My heart is so heavy because while they shake fingers, twist facts, mock and judge, their time for revelling will be now but eternally without the love of Christ in their hearts....... I am feeling (only a fraction) of the loss that God must be feeling for His children.
I too am a victim of molestation; in fact three other females in my family are as well. I brought what was done to me (by a family member who was close to Josh's age at the time he violated me) to family members and it was denied and then stated that my father had done it. It was NOT. I clearly remember the incident. Years later my cousin and I had dinner and he laughed as he recalled the kick he and this family member got out of reliving the incident. My family did not handle it well but you; the Duggars did. I too, loved his person and continued to love him because God helped me to forgive. HE is the most qualified, educated, certified "counselor" of all time and that is all I needed.
As for Josh; I don't know the guilt, responsibility or heaviness that you must me dealing with at this time. That is something between you and the Lord. As I am sure you know, once God has forgiven, He remembers it no more, it is the powers of darkness that lead us there and then rub it continually in our faces. God bless you and your beautiful family.
I have only two other things to say to the rest of the world.
What if when becoming a reporter, a gossiper or even just someone who loves to dish out the dark pasts of other people, it was automatic that the deep dark secrets of your own life FIRST had to be exploited? What if there was NO way of getting around that rule pulling the plank out of your own eye before pulling the splinter out of anothers, just how many tabloids, thrill seekers or gossipers would exist?
My next thought is this; what if we automatically set the stage RIGHT NOW that; according to liberal media or liberal ideals we ALL turn in our experiences. It doesn't matter how long ago it happened, or how old the people involved were, we just had to expose EVERY touch, EVERY curiosity, EVERY thought because that is what all these "haters" are saying the Duggars should have done (and did do, by the way) bringing these things to light in the law. How many Grandfathers, fathers, uncles, brothers, cousins, nephews, doctors, lawyers, judges, police officers, counselors, pastors and this list goes on... would be in jail, signing as registered sex offenders etc. It would not matter how innocent or severe the touch, all incidents were to be made known. I can tell you right now, most of our male and some female population would be in trouble. Think of that Liberal America.
The Lord says He will judge us by the measure we have judged others... uh oh

God Bless your beautifully "imperfect" family,

    ReplyDelete
  44. Praying for you all. The reason the comments on the online news stories are all negative and derogatory towards the Duggar family is because the liberal news media will not publish comments that are pro-Duggar since the family stands for Christ who said "keep in mind if they hated me they will hate you also". That is the AGENDA. My husband and I have seen in the past when we would try to comment on news articles that they would not publish our conservative comments. So hang tough! "They", especially Yahoo, are trying to make it look like everyone thinks the Duggars are a disgrace. However, there are many across the country who see the truth, who love your family and have been touched by your lives. Many are praying for you and siding with you all. DO NOT LOOK AT THIS AS A SETBACK BUT RATHER AS ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY OR PLATFORM TO BE USED FOR CHRIST. He will show you all the platform and then He will open the doors. God bless and God be with you all.

    ReplyDelete
  45. For Josh: I was reading my devotional today about Peter and came across a few sentences that I felt the need to share with you. "He knew Peter's heart and his future. He insisted that Peter would be defined by His words, not by Peter's past." I pray for those who are trashing your family as they could not possibly know - really know in their hearts - the God we know. "Your words about Him and His words about you will further His work in this world. His identity and yours are both necessary parts of His mission." This last quote is for the whole family! God bless you all!

    ReplyDelete
  46. May the Lord use this to reach out to many other hurting people, teach forgiveness and healing and lead many others to the Lord. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. The accusers and exposers are the hypocrites. Remain faithful to the Lord and let Him sort this out and receive the glory. We pray for you and for Josh and his family as well. My wife are in ministry and have seen a lot of garbage said about people. But forgiveness and the love of Jesus Christ must reign supreme.

    ReplyDelete
  47. The authorities who released this information should be prosecuted along with the media who published it. Greaat job by Fox for giving the Duggars an opportunity to voice their side of the issue. Those who are bashing the family because they call themselves Christian should be ashamed. The girls correctly pointed out that they are not perfect, nobody is! Christianity is not about being perfect, it's about being forgiven! It's time to leave this family alone and stop digging into something that is none of our business.

    ReplyDelete
  48. So if you're a Republican, it's okay to have people hurt you? Wow! No compassion at all!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I am glad Jessa and Jill spoke out on Fox News; I honestly believe that the magazine that released this was out to destroy the family because of their faith in God; it seems malicious and it is unfair that what happened years ago was exposed to the public--Josh was a minor, he asked for forgiveness, it was given, and his parents sought help for all involved. I am tired of Christians being attacked by the world, but we should not be surprised . The Bible makes it clear that we will be persecuted by the world. We must love them, attempt to win them for Christ, and pray for them.

    ReplyDelete
  50. You ladies did a great job! Not sure I would have done as well. Keep holding on, not everyone listens to, or likes slanderous media reports. Praying for your family.

  53. Was so proud of the girls and the comments that they made. God will bring your family through this and make you all stronger. The people who caused this problem should be dealt with and punished. I also feel sorry for Anna and the children. I know that Josh has become a good husband and father and was hoping to put this all behind him. God bless you all.

  54. It was so brave of Jill and Jessa to agree to be interviewed! It's so sad that your whole family is being persecuted for bad choices one member made when he was a child! You can't go back in time and change the past! Jill and Jessa are young newlyweds and first time mothers and this should be a joyful time in their lives! Now they have been hurt all over again so some tabloid can get raiding's and make a buck at the expense of others! Seriously thinking about getting rid of cable all together! They pull your show, but are ok with airing filth! Even the a lot of the commercials are inappropriate!! Continuing to pray for all of you!!

  55. I cringe to think of the untold damage release of juvenile records to tabloids did to other children who are being abused. They are told to tell a "trusted person" about the abuse, but with this example of what happens when they do, how many will just remain silent. These young women said the abuse by their brother was nothing compared to the abuse by media, and I see this. Shame on the reporters, commentators, talk shows, etc., who contribute to this.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Bottom line is...JUVENILE records are sealed. The Freedom of Information Act DOES NOT APPLY to JUVENILE records. The police were charged with keeping these records sealed, they failed. People should be fired over this. Media should be sued for billions over this because they used to have moral obligations and they published records that were illegally obtained.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Josh was 18 when the reports were made. Legal adult. Since no charges were filed the records were not sealed and the fact that the abuser was an adult at the time of the report makes bring a juvenile at the time of the crime not matter.

  60. Thank you to Jill and Jessa for coming out and speaking the truth. Don't really understand why people want to destroy other people's life's. Yes Josh made mistakes in his life but he got the help he needed and he also asked forgiveness from those involved and the Lord. People need to understand Only God can judge you in the end. With this coming out it does not change how much you all are great people and a great family. Still praying the show isn't cancelled for good.

  61. @AnonymousThat is my fear too...others will remain silent now in case their information is released. Not everyone is famous like this family, but it could still scare other girls.

  65. Under these circumstances, the girls did an excellent job with this interview. I do pray that Josh and Anna are over coming all the trails and tribulations of the news media. I pray that the whole family can have some peace from all the publicity. I hope that they do take this to court, it would definitely lead a precedence so this may never happen to any other juvenile again. Those records should never have been disclosed. It is not very comforting to people to know that things they did as a kid can actually surface again. God Bless the whole Duggar Family and keep them strong through all this pain and suffering.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Remember Duggars, those who are after you aren't believers or are "lukewarm Christians" who think they can pick and choose what parts of God's Word they want to follow. I truly believe what Michelle said about there being an agenda to bring your family down, satan and his workers hate how your family witnesses to the world. God Bless your family and I know He will, He has taken worse "messes" than this and used them for His glory!!

  67. We are all born to this world with a part of God in our heart. I enjoy your show and I am very glad that it sends the message of the love of our Lord thru it to the world. Dugger Family we all see times in our lives that we go trials, some are a little more easy to go thru than others. Buy they all are meant to strengthen us in our faith and our relationship in Christ. My prayer is that you will be able to also get this message out to those who are following your trial. How the lord can give strength and mercy to the faithful and forgiving. Our prayers are with you all. May God Bless you thru this trial and all future ones. Mary King

  71. I'm praying for he entire Duggar family, including Josh and his family, throughout this trying time. The courage and faith of your entire family speaks to Christian values that I only hope I possess. I also think that the magazine/tabloid should be held accountable for violating victims' rights. I'm all for forgiveness, but the publication of juvenile records and the publications of victims' information sets a precedent that needs to be addressed legally in order to keep this from happening in the future. Otherwise, victims will not feel safe talking about their experiences to authorities.

And also what about the people Josh was working for in DC? Where is the loyalty? Why are all of these people not stand right alongside of your famiy speaking out in defense of ya'll. You let them into your lives - where are they when you need them. I would seriously question the loyalty of these people who are not speaking out loud & clear in defense of a truly wonderful family.
