Joy’s Q&A

Joy-Anna (Duggar) Forsyth just uploaded a question and answer video to YouTube. In it, she’s discusses how often she sees her parents and siblings, her hobbies, the mental and spiritual battles she has faced since delivering Gunner, and more.

100 comments:

  1. Great video with Joy. My gosh Gunner is a cutie just like his siblings. Wish her and her family all the best always. 😊

  2. Before someone starts it again, Gunner and Gunnar is pronounced differently. There is nothing wrong with his name that has been around before guns existed. I can only imagine what your mommy named you. Hopefully it's not Josh since their brother ruined that name.

    1. Uncalled for, and you know nobody was discussing names here.

      Delete
    2. Ha. One Josh ruined HIS name for himself. That has no reflection on any other Josh. Every person gets to make their own reputation, good or bad. Anyone who judges a person simply because of their name is just ignorant.

      Delete
    3. 10:24 yeah just like people are just now trying to ruin the name Gunner, not just for themselves, but just because a Duggar named their child that.

  3. Amen't babies a "blessing from God"? Who knew they case "mental and spiritual battles".

    3. Why did you write this twice differently?

    4. You know we still live in an imperfect world, right? I mean, my husband was a blessing from God but that doesn't mean that he's a perfect person.

      Delete
    5. Babies are blessings, but they're still needy human beings who don't care if Mom is tired or needs to do anything besides care for them. Any and every stage of life can bring battles.

      Delete
    6. Uh, lots of moms know that.

    7. @4:08 The message flip flops, depending on the point they want to make.

    1. I love that show! Except now I know what everyone rides around with in their cars and in their systems.

  5. Joy and Austin moving from very red Arkansas to very blue California? No way. Although it was funny to hear Joy say that everyone in Jinger's neighborhood was "super sweet." They wouldn't have much in common, if Joy really thought about it.

    1. Wait, people who vote blue have to stay in their own state?

    3. If Jeremy wants family around, they should move back to Arkansas or Pennsylvania, not try to entice family to move to them. But those places aren't as flashy as L.A. so he wouldn't leave. Joy and Austin in Beverly Hills would be like that old TV show from the 60's.

    4. @9:09 why does it bother you? At least they don't live off the government.

      Delete
    5. Right, 2:09. Plus I'm sure they don't claim their children on their taxes or take other deductions, and when it comes time to take Social Security and Medicare, they won't use them because they don't live off the government or its programs.

      Delete
    6. 2:09 Pretty sure they used state/fed funded healthcare at some point because they would have qualified. Think back to those years of the small rental house. So I don't know what you're getting at. Like people who need help are terrible?

      Delete
    7. People wouldn't need help if they wouldn't put themselves in certain situations and have to use taxpayer money.

  6. I thought she wanted this baby. How does having him cause "spiritual battles"?

    1. ...Then when the baby grows up, as all babies do, Joy will claim that she conquered the battles.

      Delete
    2. Agree with your comment since a baby is blessing from God

      Delete
    3. Y'all need to read/listen. And having a planned baby doesn't make it any easier.

      Delete
    4. Haven't you ever heard of postpartum depression? It's a very real medical condition brought on by hormonal changes and sleep deprivation. A mother can have this condition and still want and love her baby!

      Delete
    5. The Bible says that we fight against the world, the flesh (our sin natures), and the devil. The devil can discourage us, our own negative thoughts can drag us down, the influence of others can cause us to struggle. Being physically exhausted can leave us vulnerable and weaker to temptation.

      Delete
    6. Anon 8:02. It sounds like Joy is suffering from post natal depression. If so, the devil doesn't have any role in that. It's actually pretty common and needs treatment. I hope Joy gets the help she needs.

      Delete
    7. @12:50 the devil does actually. He seeks to attack and destroy.

      Delete
    8. 7:48 No, there is no devil attacking and destroying anything or anybody. That is a fantasy conjured up by men in order to control and manipulate people. Any medical doctor can explain to you the effects of postpartum depression, which is a real thing caused by the hormonal effects of pregnancy and childbirth... no big boogie-man involved.

      Delete
    9. 12:50, you don't think the devil takes our weak times when our defenses are down to attack?

      Delete
    10. Anon 7:48. I steer clear of people who are constantly being attacked by the devil. I'm in poor health and not up to dealing with their issues.

      Delete
    11. @1:27 Well said. Claiming that the devil is responsible for the messes and the problems that you created is a convenient cop-out. Buck up, take responsibility, and solve things yourself.

      Delete
    12. 1:53 the only ones doing that is the parents.

    8. @8:33 so he's not JB approved?? This sounds good.

    9. 7:47and they aren't calling it courtship either, they are calling it dating.

    10. This makes me wish the show was still around. I always thought Jana would choose someone her parents wouldn't approve of at all lol.

      Delete
    11. According to the rumor mill, someone named Nate Rice. Since nothing has been announced, I'm not sure how anyone actually knows this.

      Delete
    12. There’s a pastor named Nathan Rice in Ohio-but he’s already married with kids.

  10. Unplanned and planned can cause spiritual and mental warfare. Every child is different. She must of had a whining crying screaming child like some of you that hit the comment section. Please don't be a parent.

  11. It has not been 100% but supposedly she is engaged and about to get married which is why she has been so absent. It's some pastor from Ohio.

    1. Sounds like a rumor to me. Most people ANNOUNCE their engagement. Guess we'll see in the future if this story is true.

      Delete
    2. Anon 8:00 Much as I'd like to see Jana get married and have a life without being controlled by her parents, this seems to be little more than unsubstaniated gossip.

      Delete
    3. People need to let Jana have her privacy. If she wants to announce it, let her do it on her own terms.

      Delete
    4. If that's true and if that's what she wants, then whoopie. I'm sure Daddy approved.

      Delete
    5. That seems unlikely to me. I don't see why on Earth Jana would even WANT to get married anyway. The only role for women in her church group is to have and raise children. She's already raised her siblings and babysits umteen nieces and nephews. Why would she want more of the same?

      Delete
    6. Jana wants a private life now.

      Delete
    7. @3:09 well at least they get married before having children.

      Delete
    8. @7:46 Some people have decided that anyone who does not get married before having children actually has to have those children, no other choice.

      Delete
    9. This is the only thing that can make this family even remotely newsworthy again right now.

      Delete
    10. So if this is supposed to be "private", how does everyone know all about it? The guy's name, they call it "dating", etc.

      Delete
    11. 12:33, there is a simple solution called being responsible BEFORE a child can be conceived, you know.

      Delete
    12. 9:12 Yes, it's called vasectomy and more men should be taking responsibility for controlling their little swimmers, rather than always assuming it's a woman's job to prevent pregnancy. Vasectomy is safe, highly reliable, reversible, and a walk in the park compared to what women endure.

      Delete
    13. @9:12 There's also an ongoing problem of conception happening without someone wanting it, from circumstances beyond her control. Let's have some Christian compassion for our fellow women in those predicaments and more.

      Delete
    14. @9:12 Or finding what YOU consider the responsible thing to do after. I thought this country was all about having personal rights and not passing laws that limit those or letting others who have NO part in the matter decide something for you.

      Delete
    15. Yes, exactly , this what happens when you dont use birth control,

      Delete
    16. 9:12 I don't think that's anyone's business but the parties involved. That's their decision, not yours. Sometimes things fail, too.

      Delete
    17. 7:46 Do you buy shoes without trying them on first? Do you hope they fit and figure you'll put up with the discomfort if they don't? Or do you try first and make sure they fit? Shoes are only a 1 or 2 year commitment, not a lifetime. I feel sorry for the girls who don't try shoes on first, vow they'll keep them for life, but get stuck with toe cramps, blisters, disappointment, and unhappiness. You can try on shoes while wearing socks, BTW. There are all kinds of nifty socks.

      Delete
    18. So it's ok to take the life of an innocent child because of the crime of his or her biological father? In what world is that justice?

      Delete
    19. 1:30, a matter of life and death, or more specifically, causing someone else's death, is totally in the realm of government to prevent. Calling it "choice" or a "blob of tissue" doesn't change facts that it's someone else's life that's being ended. Or that it's not just a blob of tissue. Ask former abortionists who had to count body parts to make sure they got them all.

      Delete
    20. 12:18 I don't like "used" shoes lol

      Delete
    21. @12:18 If too many people test out those shoes, its like all those people wearing that same shoe at the same time. You'll increase your chances to catch stuff because you know socks are not 100% effective....

      Delete
    22. @10:36 It sounds as if you're to make the point that abortionists are somehow bothered by what they have to do. You are wrong (ask my doctor sister). They are fiercely proud of what they know how to do, the clean, safe procedures they can administer, and how they compassionately help women through difficult emotional times. Neither the government or anyone else should be deciding when those procedures are done or forcing them to be stopped. That's between a woman and her doctor (or in some sad cases, a young girl and her parent/guardian and her doctor). Your government has no problem imposing the death penalty in most states so your argument falls apart there.

      Delete
    23. 2:53, how does a baby deserve the death penalty, though? You didn't answer that. And it's very sad for anyone to take pride in dismantling an unborn child's body.

      Delete
    24. @2:53 and the father! It takes two people. In early stages the umbilical cord has 80-90% of the father's DNA. A woman and a doctor should never be proud of this. It is a difficult thing. Especially when the baby and mother is totally healthy but yet she still wants to end the pregnancy. How selfish is that to take away two rights: the child and the father. If you aren't ready to be a mother, you wasn't ready to lay on your back. Period. There are many couples who can't even have children. It's rare for children to get adopted into bad homes. So don't even try that old argument. What they don't tell you is that those surgeries aren't always safe even in clean professional hands. I work in medical and I have seen many women who had abortions that could not get pregnant later on in life. I've seen women I through early menopause too. Same as too what can happen after a miscarriage. That can happen to women who had menstrual issues and had to have their uterus walls scraped. I am not against birth control, however, a lot of women with these new pills and devices have had fertility issues due to them especially when they been on them for a long time and at a young age. Your body is still developing and changing in your teens.

      Delete
    25. 9:13am I agree! They messed me up when I had a DNC and it sent me into early menopause. I am happy and blessed to have one healthy child, but it still hurts. There are a lot of things they don't inform women. Scientists all say different things. It's none of my business what a woman decides as I would not want someone else telling me what to do either, but pro-choice people need to be fighting for the whole truth! This is a lot bigger than people realize. Our bodies have been messed with and destroyed enough.

      Delete
    26. 5:53 yes this happened to me. I had no other choice to get the dnc. I know this. But they should had told me what could happen so I could prepare myself better. I had one cycle after and it was gone.... My heart yearns every single day.

  13. Joy-you’re adorable. Some of these people are highly critical. Anybody who actually listened to you would understand that life is complicated and we all just try to do our best to make good choices and take good care of our families. Don’t fret.

    1. Isn't that ironic. We've heard some highly critical remarks from the Duggars too. All the times they described how their beliefs and lifestyle put them above the 'Nikes" and the "sinners." Or they wore t-shirts saying those things. All the times they disagreed with how other families made their choices or took care of each other. I see nothing different with how they express their opinions and how others express theirs.

      Delete
    2. 1:24 so criticize those Duggars, not the ones who didn't or have changed.

      Delete
    3. The Nike thing was to prevent them from having impure thoughts about women dressed inappropriately

  14. Do you mean Jana's beau?

  15. Why is not "ok" that they dance? I thought God's word and what is sin or what can lead to sin is eternal? It's obvious to me that this family chose not to dance due to Josh's behavior and his parents went off the wall with their rules.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It was something about not shaking body parts in front of other people. Dancing stirred up those good old "feelings that could not be righteously fulfilled." That kind of thinking. Guess they forgot about all the dancing in the Bible.

      Delete
    2. Dancing is not a sin. It's Bills rules. He said a lot of things that was not biblical.

      Delete
    3. ...7:18am...meant to type "now ok"...

      Delete
    4. @7:26 Well that changes it into a very good question. Maybe they were (gasp) wrong all along about dancing and other things?

      Delete
  16. The reason absolutely no dancing was allowed is ridiculous. I guess Jim Bob forgot about couples ballroom dancing styles. No shaking of body parts there...and it's quite enjoyable and fun. Nothing to do with ungodly desires. I think this policy was adopted because Jim Bob doesn't know how to dance and didn't want anyone else doing something he can't do better...oh yes, and the "Josh activities" also figured in to it, IMO.
