Joy Forsyth: Postpartum Q&A

Gunner Forsyth is one month old, and his parents are adjusting to life with three children. Joy Forsyth recently hopped on YouTube to answer questions about Gunner's birth and how her postpartum life is going. She tells viewers her preference of hospital birth versus home birth, which delivery has been the most difficult to recover from, whether she is breastfeeding or formula feeding, and more.

  2. Why would anyone want to know this stuff?

    1. Because it's good to know. There are a lot of women that don't know what happens during and after birth. Pregnancy books these days are still not detailed as what you can find on apps. But there are some things that can happen that apps don't provide either.

    2. 6:12 true. I didn't know about the contractions you can have afterwards and how pregnancy can alter the body chemistry. I have allergies I didn't use to have. And toward the end of my pregnancy, I became allergic to my own saliva until I had my baby. My mouth was broke out in lesions and cranked sores. Pregnancy does some crazy stuff.

  3. You can get a baby scale for under $20 and then you don't have to hang your baby from the ceiling on a meat hook.

    1. But why waste oney on that when you already have a meat hook? lol

    3. The rate Joy is having kids, she'd be smart to go find a baby scale. You can buy them used and save the difference! They're useful for all sorts of things, not just weighing babies. Cooking, packing, sending packages, weighing pets..... That baby didn't look too happy or comfortable in that sling thing.

  11. Too bad no one asked, "Why did you give your child such an awful, violent name?"

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The name Gunner has been around before Guns existed. It's not what that means. I never heard anyone complain the name until a Duggar named their child Gunner.

      Delete
    2. Oh people have. It's a Scandinavian name and get over it.. smh..

      Delete
    3. Um.. I hope you know 4:36 that people controls guns, right?? I know people who saved their families using their 2nd Amendment Right. You must not be a US citizen?

      Delete
    4. I like the name!

      Delete
    5. @6:31. I am 4:36 and I am a proud U.S. citizen. I vehemently disagree with the 2nd Amendment for the most part and have used my 1st Amendment rights on more than one occasion to protest guns. I do this because I am tired of watching fellow Americans die for no reason. Additionally, I used to be a teacher so guns are an extremely sensitive topic for me. Also @ 6:08, the Scandinavian name is spelled Gunnar and is pronounced more like Goo-nar.

      Delete
    6. You're not the only one who feels that way 9:38! The NRA made the bad decision to cold call me one time before an election to try to persuade my voting and boy, did they get an earful.

      Delete
    7. Anon 9:38 You do realize that the police respond to crime (crime that is already in progress)? Having a gun in a lot of circumstances is your only hope to not being, raped, killed, burglarized or any of those things happening to you or your love ones. There are a lot of violent, crazed maniacs in this world and you need to protect yourself from them, its good sense to value yourself and your love ones enough to protect each other. We are given a right to life and so value that life.

    8. The reason we have the country is warriors. Gunner name means warrior. Gideon was a military leader in the Bible. Is there a theme for their boys? They are the parents they can name the child apple, north, archer… whatever they want.

      Delete
    9. 9:38 Gunnar and Gunner are not the same variation at all. Gunner is older than Gunnar lol.

      Delete
    10. @6:31 "Well-regulated" is also part of the 2nd Amendment and our founding fathers were using muskets and flint-lock pistols at the time it was written. Our lax gun laws has brought the US to the point of having the highest rate of civilian gun ownership in the world, and also more gun violence compared to any similar high-income country. Death by firearm is now the leading cause of death among teens and children in the US. Those are shameful statistics and 2A needs to be amended in order to meet the needs of our country today. BTW, no one needs an AR-15 in order to defend themselves.

      Delete
    11. @5:30 There have been 330 mass shootings and 21,000 gun violence deaths so far this year, and the year is only half over. Those are not people "protecting" each other.

      Delete
    12. 12:13- you're ridiculous! It's the PEOPLE not the guns! Good grief! I'd be safer with Good guys with guns than you anti gun loons! When there's an active shooter, someone armed can save your heinies! Go live in a country than banned guns. Good luck

      Delete
    13. 4:36- please educate yourself.. it's a name! Thank goodness I homeschool.. all I have to say. My son is a sharpshooter and if he had to, he could save a life.

    14. Anon 12:13 No actually Americans have always been gun owners and so owning guns has never been a problem. There are a lot of reasons for gun violence in America and one of the biggest factors is they took God and prayer out of school and their lives and so they lost their moral compass and the breakdown of the family which caused children to be raised without their dads in their lives and now they live with less discipline and have no restraints. Another big factor is when a child is told not to kill and then they see these same adults fighting and protesting for the right to kill these same children's sisters and brothers in the womb, then you can't possible expect them to value life anymore then you do. Then we watch on the news the packs of kids rioting and burning down businesses and attacking the police and THEY are treated like the victims instead of perpetrators and receive no consequences or discipline. Guns are not the problem, walking away from God is the problem. Law abiding citizens need guns more then ever now to protect ourselves from the lawless criminals that people have raised and unleashed on society.

      Delete
    15. @10:33 You can't seriously think that adding God and prayer back into school will stop gun violence? I grew up exactly when those were taken out of school (1962) and it made no difference in behavior one way or the other! Actually, we were glad to see it go because we had kids of all different faiths in our school and it wasn't fair to make them all listen to one religion's line of thinking. Even in elementary school, I knew that was wrong.

    17. 7/2@12:13 Not sure why you have singled out the AR except that maybe you are misinformed. While it may look like a “army rifle” it’s not. AR does not stand for assault rifle or automatic rifle. AR stands for ArmaLite, the company that developed it in the 1950’s. The “assault rifle” is fully automatic, like a machine gun, restricted for public purchase since the 1930’s. The AR is a semi automatic, firing one round with each pull of the trigger, like any other semi automatic available to the public. AR’s are no more powerful than hunting rifles of the same caliber. They are usually chambered in a lesser caliber than a 30-06 Springfield, a very popular hunting rifle that pretty much any hunter owns.
      7/2@10:33 AMEN!!!

    18. Exactly 10:33! Nailed it

    19. @9:34 Only 3% of active shooter cases have ever been stopped by an armed citizen. What you're describing is not how it works.

    20. 1:47 You just Amen'ed yourself?

      Delete
    21. 1:13 you are sadly mistaken.. it's the other "religions" that don't tolerate the Christian way of life that causes these issues. America was founded as a Christian nation. Like it or not!

      Delete
    22. Look at how NOT having guns is going for France! Buildings are being destroyed and the French citizens can't protect their homes and businesses! And some of you people want to ban gun?? Fools!!

      Delete
    23. 7:47 The US was not founded on any religion. The Constitution clearly states that our country shall have no official religion and there shall be no religious test as a requirement to hold public office.

      Delete
    24. Anon 2:08 Our Forefathers were almost all Christians and honored God when they wrote the Constitution. This country use to be a Christian nation with prayer in school, high Church attendance, prayer in homes, the ten commandments listed in government buildings, then in God we trust on our money, God in the pledge of allegiance, etc. Its only lately that Godless people pushed to get God out of everything and look at the mess they are causing.

      Delete
    25. @7:59 That is the most sugar-coated history lesson I've ever read. How do you explain civil war, scores of massacres, denial of civil rights, political corruption, and every other horrible, ugly thing that's happened in US history since the 1600's if our forefathers were so Godly? "Only lately" is a mess? Try opening a history book.

      Delete
    26. 2:08- that's a lie..it WAS founded on the basis of Christianity. You're being lied to. Research more into it

  13. Before anymore starts commenting, Gunner and Gunnar are completely different and pronounced differently. And both their origins are different. The name Gunner is older than Gunnar and Guns. You guys need to stop reaching. It's a common name and now suddenly it's a issue because a Duggar named their child Gunner.

    2. My friend lives in Cuba with her husband. Moved there voluntarily. She's not having anything lobbed at her. She's never felt unsafe. Quite the opposite - it's very friendly and family-oriented. Don't try to make it sound like the only safe place in the world is beside your guns in the US.
