    1. It was Jinger who wrote the book, not Jeremy

  2. I'm proud of Jinger for sharing her experience with the religion she was raised with. I think it will help a lot of people who may also be struggling with those same beliefs being taught to them. I don't think she will be disrespectful towards those who follow those beliefs but will give hope and encouragement to the ones who need to hear that it's okay to find your own personal truth. Thats why theres different religions and theories,so you can decide for yourself what feels right and what doesn't. I wish her great success but most of all I wish her continued peace in her heart throughout her journey in this world. Freedom is a beautiful thing.

    1. She doesn't have a new faith. Her parents were Independent Baptist and her husband is studying at a Baptist seminary.

    2. 8:00, there is a big difference between the Baptist beliefs. There is in fact 4 different ones that I know of which the one the Duggars are part of and there's another strict one. There are New Amish Baptist churches as well. But the one Jinger & Jeremy is part of is more like Church of God (Founded In Tennessee). So it leans more Pentecostal.

      Delete
    3. Independent Baptist is out there different. Not all baptists denominations are the same by any means.

      Delete
    4. If she's leaving behind the man-made Duggar rules and following only the Bible, that's a kind of "new faith," if you ask me...

      Delete
    5. She is still Christian, however I believe she is addressing some of the legalistic rules followed by some groups.

      Delete
    6. 7:29 - The Bible was transcribed by men, with what men wanted in it. How is that not man-made rules too?

      Delete
    7. Her husband is not at a Baptist seminary, but a Reformed one. Grace Church was actually originally an offshoot of a Presbyterian Church, and now would define itself as Reformed. It's roots are Calvinist.

      Delete
    8. 3:17 PM - It was translated from Hebrew. It's pretty easy to find the right bible. If you feel that it's only for men, you got the wrong one boo or you aren't reading the bible at all.

  4. I won't read any books (ghost)written by "Jinger." Plus she's not "free" at all, she simply married into a different religion and is still completely yoked by it. The title is misleading, the authorship is misleading, and the whole thing is another attempt to cash in on the Duggar name, which at this point is wearing thin. I understand your reasons for publicizing this book, but your readers need to know what they're spending their money on, especially based on the last disappointing books "written" by this couple and their publicists.

    2. That is your opinion. How about you share those opinion to directly to her page and not a fan blog because it looks cowardly tbh if that's actually how you feel.

    5. I'm sure this is not about having absolute personal freedom as the title tries to suggest. I'm sure Jeremy was right there as Jinger was being interviewed for this book, making sure she didn't say anything unapproved. I wouldn't be surprised if everything was run past Jim Bob too before it was published.

    6. Not a book I would read. My taste in literature is more "elevated" but to each their own.

    7. 4:14 PM - And how did you came to that assumption? You live with them?

    8. 10:19 - As a person who has enjoyed reading Atlas Shrugged (pretty elevated, no?), I am also interested in reading what Jinger has to say. It would be interesting to hear how she is conducting her life differently now that she is no longer subject to her father's rules. It's my understanding that she is living a more Bible-based life now, vs. a man-made rules (to some extent) based life. And that's a very good thing!

  7. Stay out the media...if that's what you want for your family. You have your right ti privacy. So money is nothing you need from the public. GOD BLESS YOU

    ReplyDelete

    1. Right. She's not free if she still depends on others for money, and that means selling her privacy. She thinks she's keeping her kids private by not showing their faces but she's still very much advertising that she has kids, and a husband, and some shoe-centered, food-centered LA lifestyle. She may no longer want to be associated with the religion she was raised in, but what she's gotten herself into now is simply parallel to that, not free of that.

      Delete
    2. They want their kids to stay out. You are talking about minors. Just because someone is a public person does not give them free range to their children. That is crossing the line. There are many celebrities that hide their children.

      Delete
    3. @2:19 For someone who wants her kids to stay out, she sure shows them a lot. There were recent pictures from Christmas vacation with the kids.

      Delete
    4. 1:48, with that logic you shouldn't depend on any job for money. Stop being judge mental.

      Delete
    5. @1:48 people who grow crops and raise beef, pork, chicken, etc. are dependent on people to buy their products....so are they different than Jinger and Jeremy? Doctors go to college so they can treat your family when they are I'll they are dependent on being paid. Households that have an income, spend their money on goods and services...yes, even books to enjoy life. Everyone is dependent on others $$$ one way or another.

      Delete
    6. 3:17 PM - No, they blocked their kids faces out.

      Delete
    7. 8:46 So showing everything BUT your kids' faces is equal to not showing them at all? lol

      Delete
    8. 2:29 PM - Yes, it's equal. A lot of parents do that these days for various reasons. You are not entitled to their children and how they parent no matter if they are public people or not. People get mad when they show them and people get mad when they don't show them. I think the best thing to do is hit that X button at the corner of your screen.

    9. Showing any part of your kids equals showing them. Period.

    1. From her parents religion.

    2. That religion - or whatever it was - her parents were following when she was born is falling apart. Leadership was questionable from the get-go plus they've had financial trouble.

      Delete
    3. From her parents' man-made rules.

  10. Having followed her family for so long, learning about the adult children’s journeys is very intriguing. I enjoyed the last book about Jinger and Jeremy’s courtship, and I am looking forward to this new one. Thanks for sharing!

  13. Excited to read Jingers book. Perhaps there are some answers to questions about her choices to be different than the Duggar clan.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Is this the book that Jinger is going to be discussing her switching faith? I am sorry but she should had more respect for her siblings who still believe in the faith she was once part of it. It's good she found a different way but she sounds like her parents where she believes her way is the right way. It doesn't matter if their rules was not biblically correct. The book has been changed through so many different languages and translated to the point there are a lot of things that got added in that was not originally biblical.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Right! Her siblings must be beside themselves. If they are happy, fine. If Jinger is happy, that's fine too. But don't make it out to be something it's not. From my understanding, part of the program Jeremy was studying went through her old church. The church that believes her old faith. Looks like he would at least go to Lee University or study somewhere else. I am not sure how that's going to work out him being a pastor.

      Delete
    2. She isn't required to be exactly like her parents or siblings. I'm not sure how you determine the "true faith" as everyone seems to see things differently. If she thinks she's now "free" then so be it. I'm not sure that will sell lots of books but guess we'll see.

      Delete
    3. What old faith and new faith are you talking about? It's all the same faith. Faith in the saving power of Jesus Christ. How we evolve and view our lives here on earth may change but the fundamentals have not changed. All Christ followers are allowed to find new freedoms and to let go of those things that hold you down - Good for you Jinger for pursuing freedom too.

      Delete
    4. The subtitle of the book is "Distinguishing Faith and Fear". Perhaps that means that she's learned that she doesn't need to be ruled by her parents' harsh interpretation of the Bible.

      Delete
    5. I truly don't see how she is disrespecting her siblings. She is choosing to follow "different" beliefs and principles in HER life. Everyone is entitled to make choices regarding their own faith and happiness. She is not tied down to one religion/faith/belief system simply because her siblings choose to follow it. With that being said, the IBLP is straight up abusive no matter who you are. If her siblings choose to follow its teachings, well, that's on them.

      Delete
    6. Jinger has every right to be public about how growing up in the IBLP organization was harmful to her. It's her story to tell.

      Delete
    7. Maybe her siblings didn't have a rough way to go in that religion but she did and came to the conclusion that it was not right for her.

      Delete
    8. As many people have said: she has not switched her faith. When I was younger I believed differently. Things were more black and white, I attended charismatic churches. Now that I'm in my forties, I'm a happy lutheran of many years. I tend to enjoy quietness and social gospel has become very important to me. But the center of my faith has always been Jesus Christ. I don't know where I'll be when I'm in my 80's, but I trust that the good Lord will lead the way. IBLP movement has some good principals, but it's way too "one size fits all christians" and some of the teachings are just plain abusive and disturbing.

    1. I don't think either one of them "converted" to anything. They seem about the same IMO. Apparently marketing things is their way of life.

      Delete
    2. 9:28, Jeremy did convert. He came from a different church that didn't believe in having a bunch of children and dressing a certain way. But now they both changed. He isn't even in the same Baptist ministry as he originally was planning to teach. They are going to a newer Baptist / Pentecostal system.

    3. Yup, just like people market their food products, refurbished homes, clothing lines etc. It's called having a career and it astonishingly includes being a author. I know, hard to believe isn't it? Last time I checked it was okay to market what you do,make a living at it, and that my dears applies to everyone. The jealousy on here absolutely amazes me. Did you think she should look you up and ask your righteous opinion as to what she can and cannot do with her life? This is what I truly despise about the internet. It shows how ugly people can be. None of you would dare say these ridiculous comments to her face. Sure brave on your little keyboard though hey?

  21. So some of ya'll saying Jinger depends on other people for money? Like who? She is a author and podcaster but also has done other various things. She earns a honest living and is likely the bread winner in her family. Being a pastor is hard work and money is definitely NEVER guaranteed. But that's their business. You guys act like whatever they do comes back on you. Do you feel this way about all authors or podcasters? I'll add people who have careers in journalism and news media too. What about them? Don't say it's any different because the sole reason is that she is a Duggar. It seems like I never see these type of comments against other people like her. I smell some sour grapes and likely the people or person saying these things are very unhappy with their job.

    1. There was exactly one comment that referred to Jinger as "depending on others for
money. " It went on to clarify that she's done business by compromising her privacy in order to promote herself and her family through selling books, podcasts, etc. "Ya'll" implies most of the comments were critical of the way she earns a living.

      Delete
    2. 5:08 PM - There was multiple comments made on every posts about Jinger. It wasn't just the one you are referring too and there was some removed off this post. But yet you don't see it on her social media because they are to scared to go over there and say something to her about their opinions they come out of their jealous minds.

      Delete
    3. No 7:24, people don't go on their social media because they don't want to give them the clicks, not because they're "scared." Who exactly do you think is jealous of a girl who grew up with TV cameras everywhere, Bill Gothard telling her what to believe, and Josh as a brother?

    4. After reading all the negative comments about Jinger, Jeremy and her book or and fall the gossip, one thing is clear, none of the negative people read or listened to Jingers interviews or articles! Well I did and if was so thoroughly impressed with everything she said and its all made total sense. I wish nothing but the best for her and her family.
See if you take time to listen to them actual person instead of gossip and ignorance, you'll find more time then not, people are good and will teach you something and clear up everything with facts! Not gossip. Once you get to really see and hear THEM, then your can judge.

    1. Yes, but I don't think Jinger sees it that way. It's more like she feels "free" because she moved away from her parents beliefs that she grew to dislike and chose a new set of beliefs to embrace.

      Delete
    2. If you call believing in the inerrancy of Scripture and following a Bible-based life free of man-made rules severe... I believe her story may help others who are bound by man-made rules to see that there is freedom in Jesus Christ.

  28. I'm glad she has found some religious freedom in the way she was raised by wearing pants, shorts and shorter skirts and dresses and dressing in fashionable clothes and shoes (all which were forbidden by her strict upbringing),but she is still Baptist because her and Jeremy believe in word confession salvation and baptism is a picture of your salvation. The only difference is that she now reads another version of the Bible other than the KJV she was raised to read. Some things I like about her and Jeremy and other things I admire her for that I want to be when I someday leave home to either marry or live on my own as I've also grown up in a somewhat strict Independent Baptist home too.

    1. I don't understand how her strict upbringing read the KJV because there was nothing in that version that suggested what they believed in so it had to of come from a church rule system. It wasn't the bible.

    2. @9:44. Advice from an old lady: Never expect that a man will support you. Get an education and find a way to earn a living with something you truly enjoy doing. Marriage and family can be great and fulfilling. However, stuff happens- illness, death of a spouse, job loss, divorce, etc. Make sure you have the skills necessary to take care of yourself and experience with independence before you commit to marrying anyone.

      Delete
    3. Wow, Anonymous 1/24/23 @ 4:57PM...you said it all right there. You are absolutely correct in your advise and life experience. This should be taught to all women. It's possible to be able to support yourself in this life and love God at the same time. Look at Anna Duggar for example.
To Anonymous 1/23/23 @ 8:55PM..Your comment is also spot on. The Duggars and others like them did not live according to any bible,IMO, they lived with legalistic rules given to them by Mr. Gothard....who, BTW, isn't God nor does he have a direct line to Him.

  30. That title is too vague and sounds like she's trying to get you to believe that she broke free of all the stuff in her upbringing when she probably just switched to a different flavor of her choosing of the same kind of religion. So now she considers herself free but by her definition and anyone else would consider themselves still bound up in it.

    2. 9:57 you got the book but did you read it?

      Delete
  31. The book description says that Ben and Jeremy made her examine how she was raised with certain rules and how they were supposed to equal obedience to God. But then she studied the Bible and found/interpreted its teachings (which are basically rules too) another way. So where does the freedom come in, other than it's OK to wear pants and shorts? This is the same Bible that was available to her as a child, BTW. She could have read it and questioned it at any point. Sounds like her parents forbade her questioning their teachings and their interpretation of the Bible. Anyone who watched the show picked up on that with all the kids. If this is a tell-all on how horrible or damaging her upbringing was, I'll read it. But if it's just self-therapy soul-searching by someone who's still obedient, then no.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The description does not say that. But also Jinger said in a interview that this is not a tell-all. So you aren't even reading and keeping up with what this book is suppose to be about. And you expect other people to do that same? WOW. What a reach you tried to pull.

    2. 8:49, Your last sentence sums it up.

    3. The reality is that children believe whatever they are told by their parents and don't research anything. The only timey look at things is when something happens that causes them to do so. In this case Jinger got married and was exposed to another viewpoint and she began to question things and found another pathway.

      Delete
  32. I cannot wait to read this book. And I hope those who are struggling with being part of the IFB branch, they can identify with her and get out. I left a Baptist church years ago that had similar beliefs. They think everything is evil. I didn't have a normal childhood at all because of it. I found a new church that help heal those old wounds. Although I am no longer Baptist, I feel bad for those who are because of certain two groups of Baptist, they give Baptist people a bad name.

  35. Good for her! I’m glad she tells us she’s pushed back from some of the beliefs she was raised with. Whoever raised her might see the light too! 2. What it shows in a poor light is how her father totally bought into IBLP and made the family follow that system. If you ever read their teachings, you'll cringe. If you ever research their leader back when the Duggars were growing up, ditto.

    1. Jinger said in a interview what she was taught was not in the bible. So it sounds like they only use the bible for certain things. They don't study the full book.

    2. She removed IBLP teachings and regulations from her life and now follows her husband's church's interpretation of the Bible. It doesn't mean she's free of any Bible. Now that would be an announcement and a book we'd all like to see.

      Delete
    3. Because her parents beliefs are not based in the Bible, they are based in the teachings of Bill Gothard.

Jesus didn't come to give us a list of rules to follow. He came to free us from sin.

A Christian should be joyful, not fearful.
A Christian shouldn't judge someone for what they eat, or listen to, or wear (see Romans 14), but rather accept others.
