A Birthday and a Graduation

Jill Dillard and Michelle Duggar
May 2017

The Dillards have had an exciting month of May. After three years of hard work, Derick Dillard officially graduated from the University of Arkansas School of Law. And this week, Jill had a milestone birthday, the big 3-0. Congratulations to Derick, and happy birthday to Jill!

Happy birthday Jill and CONGRATS TO DERICK!!!
Also where are the Dillard's living? Back in Arkansas?

    1. Israel is six, and Samuel is three. The Dillard's are currently living in Arkansas, in a house they purchased, a couple of years back.

  4. Happy belated birthday Jill!!! Congratulations Derick on becoming a lawyer. You two are my favorite couple. Thank you Derick for showing Jill that there's more to life then the way she was raised, and having babies. Maybe now that Derick completed college Jill can go back to school to become a nurse. Lily and Ellie thank you for all the work you do to keep this blog going.

    1. Yes that would be great for Jill to go back to school.
I admire Jill and Derrick for just having two children and for breaking away from Duggars way of life.

    2. I greatly admire them, also. They've stated they do plan to have another child or adopt.

    3. When was Jill ever in college before, to be able to go back to it????

    4. 2:33, she said back to school, not back to college.

  5. Congratulations Jill on your big birthday #30! Hope you had a nice one. And congrats to Derick on his law school graduation. I wonder though if he's going to have trouble finding a firm to article with, due to his negative social media presence. My kids, who are all professionals after completing Masters degrees, don't post anything to social media. Employers are always watching out for bad taste, bad behaviour, bad attitude, or things that are racist, discriminatory or hateful. They don't want those attitudes to tarnish the firm's reputation.

    1. I have a feeling Derick will want to work with a firm that his the same values he holds.

  8. MO- Oh my goodness- when I first saw that picture of Jill, I thought I had missed something and she was pregnant again. It must be an old picture. haha- Congrats to Derick and Happy Birthday to Jill. :o)

  10. So now Derick will have to study for Bar exam probably, if he wants to practice as a lawyer. More studying.

    1. He probably has two years of articling first, before the bar exam.

    2. Two years of a “articling”? Not sure what that is. When my daughter graduated law school she sat for the bar exam a couple of months later.

    3. 4:22. I’m not sure what you are implying. We should all be life long learners. Good for Derick graduating law school and of course more studying for the bar exam. The Dillards are to be respected as they have done the work to be independent adults.

    4. Never heard of “articling”. We all go from graduating from law school to sitting for the bar. Many are already working at law firms.
      What’s Derrick doing?

      Delete
    5. In America you graduate, then take the bar and start work sometimes even before you find out if you passed the bar or not.

    6. I think articling is a Canadian/British thing.

    1. @6:12 I know. Disappointing.

    2. Lily and Ellie pretty much always use older pictures for birthdays. Most people do actually. Is it really that big of a deal?

  13. It’s unreal to think that the oldest Duggar children are now in their 30’s! Jill looks great & not a day over 25!

    1. and in 5 years all starting from Josiah will be 30 and up... Josie will be 17.

    2. That's because the picture is from 2017 - when she was 26 :) Not sure why they didn't do an updated pic of here and Derrick?

  14. Congratulations to Derrick!
Wishing Jill true happiness on her birthday!

  15. No picture of Derrick? He is the graduate. Derrick is the most independently successful guy out of all the Duggar kids and their spouses. Jeremy Vuolo, then Ben Seewald, then John David are next in line. S.

    1. I guess it depends on how you define “successful”. Derrick wins on the education contest; Jeremy is next. Career -wise from what is outsiders can derive John David and Austin with Joe. Not sure what any of the others do for work. Jeremy seems to do nothing (I know he’s got some degree to pastor. From where; who knows!).

    2. Jeremy doesn't do "nothing." He has a job of some sort (Jinger has mentioned him coming home from work) and he's a student.

  25. I'm a little disappointed that you failed to post a photo of Derick (but one of Michelle and Jill instead) but am glad you at least congratulated him. A Congratulations post in a birthday and graduation should feature a photo of the two or immediate family photo.

  29. I watched Jill and Derick's wedding again last night on their YouTube channel. It was so sweet to see them and also so many familiar faces in the audience. I'm really sad about what's happened in this family and pray they can heal and mend their fences.

  30. Thank you for the blog updates for both families. I appreciate the reliable information to celebrate and pray with them.
